One of the movies watched this time out was Clint Eastwood's movie "J. Edgar." Historically based of the life and times of the founding father of the FBI, it follows his carrier from his early days in the Justice Department all the way until his death. Although there are a few minor time era gaffs, the picture does a good job of conveying the overall historical relevance of the film and only the completely anally retentive will feel it necessary to point out the few issues of "At this time that bridge wasn't built," or "The racetrack used a different surface during this era," or "Lucy and Desi haven't met yet," etc.

The "rumors" of Hoover's possible homosexuality and cross-dressing are broached, but tastefully done as to not completely paint the subject as a negative deviant nor as an attempt to smear his reputation. All of Hoover's characteristics, good and bad, are portrayed in an equal light. Everything about the film screams "Professional" and all of the acting is top notch. DiCaprio does another historical character with complete believability and carries the task of projecting the same character thru a myriad of eras beautifully. Even if you aren't a history buff, everyone should enjoy what this film has to offer. Pick this one up in the Wal-Mart bargain bin at your next shopping adventure and you won't be disappointed.
