Popular Post marvelboy10
Saw this last night and I was blown away by how great this film was. It was the perfect blend of comedy and action. It was one of those films that you wished didn't have an ending. So many events transpired in this film I don't even know where to start. Thor: Ragnarok is without a doubt captivating, exhilarating, invigorating, humorous, and action packed. Bottom line is. Marvel does it yet again with Thor: Ragnarok. I highly recommend any Marvel fan see this newest installment in the MCU. Trust me, it's just that good. Now here is my in depth review Spoiler The whole story is not entirely perfect I will admit. There were some things that they could've elaborated upon in the film, but other than that it was still awesome. The opening scene with Thor in the realm of the diabolical demon known as Surtur was very very good. Thor's attitude has changed since the events of the 1st film. He now has that loose care free attitude rather than the arrogant Thor that we saw back in the first film back in 2011. I personally didn't like Thor's attitude back in 2011, but I see why they made him that way. When he battled Surtur's forces I was memorized at how perfectly choreographed the entire fight sequence was. The audience got to see just how powerful Thor is on his own and what he's capable of. He isn't called the god of thunder for nothing. The entire opening sequence was amazing in my opinion. When they revealed Doctor Strange my reaction was . I knew that the Doctor himself was going to make a grand appearance in Thor: Ragnarok, but I still shouted with delight. In the film you can see how powerful Doctor Strange has become. He knows how to utilize his abilities better now. He made the film.......strange (yes I went there). I was distraught when Odin passed away. I knew his death was eventually going to occur, but it's still sad none the less. Prior to his death, he informed Thor and Loki of a secret that he has kept from them and all the inhabitants of Asgard. He reveals to Thor that he is not his first born. It is in fact his sister Hela, the goddess of death, who is the rightful heir to the throne. Prior to the events of Thor (2011) Odin and Hela were a team. They conquered many realms together and fought side by side. However, Hela's ambition grew stronger than Odin's and he saw darkness in her. In an attempt to save Asgard from Hela's wrath, Odin imprisoned her and he was the key to her prison cell. If he passes away then her prison cell will unlock and she will be free from her torment and wreak her havoc on Asgard and the 9 realms. Shortly after Odin passes Hela appears and commands Thor and Loki to kneel to their new queen. Thor refuses and hurls Mjolnir to her. Hela catches it and Thor, flabbergasted, says "this is not possible". To which Hela responds with "darling, you don't even know what's possible", and destroys Mjolnir with minimal effort. From here we get to see just how powerful Hela is. Fast forward to when Thor arrives in the planet of Sakarr. This is where the film really gets going. When they showed the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) I was immediately hooked. Jeff Goldblum was the perfect candidate to portray the Grandmaster. He had that "let's all have a good time come on it'll be fun" attitude. All his sequences in the film were perfect. When we were introduced to Korg and his allies, I was laughing all the way. The voice actor for Korg was perfect. Sure some the jokes were bad, like the rock paper scissors one, but you got to give credit where credit is do. I really hope we get to see more of Korg and his friends in future installments. When they showed Valkyrie I knew that she was going to play a major role in the whole film. Had it not been for her assistance in Thor's endeavors then more innocents would've been killed. Now on to one of the highlights of the film. The fight scene between the god of thunder Thor and the Incredible Hulk. This fight was without a doubt, captivating, exhilarating, and invigorating all at once. I'm not just saying this because I'm a huge fan of Marvel. No, I'm serious. It was that good. This was literally a battle between brain and brawn. Thor to put up a good fight against the Hulk. They even made Hulk grab and attack Thor like he did to Loki in Avengers. The audience, including myself, was laughing when Hulk did that. Even Loki shouted from his seat (in the film) and said "That's how it feels!". After a grueling battle with neither competitors gaining the upper hand, a winner was decided. The winner of the match was.......watch the film and find out for yourself. I also admired how they made Hulk talk like he does from the comics, rather then speak like a normal human being. That's the Hulk we all know and adore. We love the "Hulk no like Thor and his baby arms" and not " That's the life of a jolly green giant such as myself. Hulk out". Hulk out? Seriously? Anywho I'm glad Marvel decided to go that route. The whole dialogue between Hulk and Thor was just as I expected it to be. They had that " I'm stronger (lifts truck with one arm), no I'm stronger (lifts military tank with one arm) high five" type of friendship. I was really sad when Hela slaughtered the warriors three like pigs in a butcher's house. But it did show us why they call her the godess of death. She practically killed 85% of all Asgardians and then revived them to do her bidding, including her pet Fenris wolf. Fenris Wolf looked amazing by the way. When the Hulk reverted back to puny Bruce Banner I got see that Marvel didn't make a mistake casting Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk. He really nailed the part and added some humor into it as well. Okay now let's fast forward to the climax of the film. The final battle between Thor and Hela was epic. During the battle Hela cut off Thor's right eye like Odin. I guess Thor and Odin have a like father like son moment now. That scene was very eye popping (please don't hurt me) The battle between Hulk and Ferris was fantastic. Although I must point this hysterical scene out, Prior to the battle between Ferris and Hulk. Ferris was about to attack Heimdall and company who were crossing the rainbow bridge. Bruce Banner was piloting a space ship at the time, and decided to help those people. he pulled off a Edward Norton and jumped form the ship. Now the audience was expecting him to transform into the Hulk and do a superhero landing (Deadpool reference). But instead he doesn't and falls on the bridge hard like a rag doll. The whole theater erupted with laughter for a good minute or two. We didn't anticipate that at all and that made the whole scene 2x funnier. Props to Marvel for thinking outside the box and trying something new. The whole ending was great and I can't wait to see how they expand upon it in future installments. Overall Thor: Ragnarok was another great Marvel film and I highly recommend anyone, Marvel fan or not, see this amazing film. I can't wait Avengers: Infinity Wars. Next up is Justice League in two weeks which releases on November 17. Until next time, have a great day! Synopsis time It has been Approximately 2 years since the events of Age Of Ultron. The Avengers have disbanded and Hulk's location is currently unknown. Thor and Loki are searching for their father, Odin, and receives help by a sorcerer supreme to find him. After the sorcerer teleports them to Odin's location. Thor and Loki witness the arrival of a new diabolical threat to Asgard, Hela the goddess of death. Hela destroys Thor's hammer, Mjölnir, with minimal effort and reveals she intends to take over Asgard and claim the throne for herself. Thor and Loki attempt to stop her but during the battle they are separated and Thor ends up on the planet Sakarr. A planet that serves as the lost and found. Thor has to find Loki and discover a way to get back to Asgard to stop Hela and prevent Ragnarok from transpiring. Can Thor make it back in time to save Asgard? Will he receive help along the way? Who exactly is Hela and why does she want Asgard all to herself? Find out in the all new installment of Thor: Ragnarok. Playing in theaters near you. Thebishop_Remora
Hey; i saw this movie too on a festival FarSideOfSaturn; that's really a great one^^. I doubt anyone watched it; but my last one was "Waking life", a really really strange SciFi movie where the hero seems to be prisonner of his own dream. Everytime he wakes up, it's to see that he is still inside another dream. I really recommand it if you like philosophical discussions inside movies XD^^.
