  1. 1. Who will emerge victorious?

Fall Break has officially begun! I've only been home for about five hours, but I've already risen my completion to 71.25%! I've also added yet another platinum warrior to my ranks, Toro. While 0.5 points may not seem like much, every bit counts in my eyes.

Despite my better judgement, I am trying to plat Resogun now. I'll probably game hop a lot this week to keep things fresh.

EDIT: A mere few hours later, the Resogun plat is mine! I guess it's true that my skill level skyrockets when overcoming a worthy adversary. Another 6.5 points have been gained, and my completion inches ever closer to my goal.

Well, this has been an intense week for us both. All was going according to plan until I got my birthday present, Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls. Wanting to play the game for a while, I immediately jumped at the chance to plow through the story. Despite the mixed to negative reviews I've heard from my friends, I thoroughly enjoyed the game and have no regrets. While I didn't reach 72%, I came quite close, platting UDG and Burly Men at Sea along the way.

The real unexpected feat this week though was @Kent10201 actually meeting his completion goal just last night, causing a flood of points to come crashing in. Finally platting Persona 5 as his 125th plat, Kent went on a rampage and popped six plats this week. When we first made this completion side-challenge, I honestly never imagined that one of us would actually make it in time. Color me impressed!

Well, this puts me in a rather difficult spot. Thankfully, my other birthday present will help illuminate the path to victory: Danganronpa V3 (which I cannot believe is a 16-point game). This upcoming week will be pretty busy, but after that, I expect to be hardcore marathoning. I should be at 72% by the time that's platted for the game to count. Though to really stand a chance, there are only two options left in my arsenal. No matter which path I choose, it will be treacherous and painful.

As promised, I spent the last few days charging through V3 and managed to finish the main story mere hours ago. Overall, this was a fantastic game, and I'm happy to be finally caught up with the series. My goal is to clean up the story-related trophies this week and then jump into what seems to be a plethora of post-game content. Taking a closer look at the trophy list (which I'm glad I didn't beforehand because one of the trophy images is a huge spoiler), I can now see why this is a 16-point game. No matter. I'm having a fun time and am up for the challenge!

In other news, @Kent10201 platted God of War III Remastered since the last update. Let's see how far he can pull away before I unleash my trump card! :giggle:

It took a while (partially because I was fooling around in the bonus modes), but all story mode trophies are done. I also finished gathering the bonds and presents and have finally gotten my completion back up to where it was before starting this game. I have finals coming up in the not-so-distant future, but I'll still have time to complete the gallery and Love Across the Universe this week. With any luck, I'll finish up the casino trophies too, but I can already tell that what I have left will easily be the hardest part of the plat.

Meanwhile, @Kent10201 continues to expand his lead with his newest plat, Detroit: Become Human. It's unfortunate, but it'll take a lot more than that to counter what I have prepared!

Well, I'm ahead of schedule this week with the gallery and Love Across the Universe done a bit sooner than I expected. The real achievement in this update though is me finally getting an S Rank in Treasure Hunter Monolith. After over 50 attempts in this game Sunday night, I beat it in just three the next morning. It's funny how RNG trophies work. I'm convinced that this is the hardest trophy in the game, but I'm in no hurry to try out Outlaw Run to find out.

Besides one more casino game, all I have left is the Talent Development Plan, the true grind of this game. The goal is to finish by Christmas, but at the rate I'm going, I'll probably be done by the end of next week.

Spoiler

It was my goal to finish V3 by Christmas. How naive I was. I thought I'd finish by next week. How foolish! I saw that I was in range of a top-50 time, and I went for it, platting the game in just over two weeks. I could've finished it in less than two weeks if I really wanted to, but alas, finals are more important. About a year ago, my friend convinced me to start out the Danganronpa series, and since then, it has quickly become one of my favorite series of all time. That being said, I'm really happy to have finally platted every game and am excited for what eventually comes next.

@Kent10201 I'd say you're in a pretty tight spot right now. Not only did I finish way ahead of schedule, but I'm just a few trophies away from hitting my completion goal. Are you ready? What comes next will be my final attack! Prepare yourself!

BEHOLD! At long last, I have reached my completion goal of 72%. It was a treacherous road indeed, but I somehow pulled through before the time limit. While I'm somewhat proud of completing this challenge, doing this only reinforced the fact how I hate being restricted in what to play. That being said, I would probably never agree to doing a challenge similar to this in the future.

More importantly, my score has almost doubled, meaning that I am now within 20 points of victory. Kent has been acting mighty smug the past few weeks, so I doubt he's expecting me to pass him. Well, getting 20 points in half a month is hard enough as is, so I fully welcome the naivete. :giggle:

@Kent10201 scrapes up another point with XBlaze Code: Embryo. It's his goal to get 50 plats by the end of the year, and he has a fairly good chance of making it. Though this means that he can only focus on quick, low-scoring games to get there with the time he has left, so I welcome that goal.

Meanwhile, since I finished V3 so ahead of schedule, a few new options opened up for me. For instance, I now have enough time to plat Metro: Last Light. My save unfortunately couldn't be saved when my PS3 died, so I had to start from scratch. No worries though because I have already caught up to about where I was. Metro is worth 20 points, which will bring me well within range of the finishing blow. I honestly never expected this challenge to be so close. How exciting! :giggle:

Spoiler

At long last, after overcoming many obstacles and vanquishing several, high-scoring games, I have retaken the lead! Metro: Last Light was supposed to take me two weeks to complete, but I did it in less than one! I've really been on a roll lately, and I don't see it ending anytime soon. With 20 points gained, I have created an insurmountable point gap! With only about ten days left in the competition, how will you respond, @Kent10201?

This is a bit of a late update, but @Kent10201 platted God of War a few days ago, bringing him back in the lead by 0.05 points. I refuse to lose by such a ridiculous amount, so I'll do whatever I can to get more points in these final days. I have plans New Year's Eve, so I effectively only have five days left to boost my score. It's going to be close, but if I pull off what I'm currently planning, I may just be able to manage.

The close battle continues with @Kent10201 platting Spyro and me platting The Seven Deadly Sins (getting another top 50 time by the way). I tried platting 2064 as my last plat of 2018, but alas, I was thwarted by a single trophy, Threat Neutralized. The guide says this game is a 2/10, and for the most part, they're right, but this one trophy alone launches the difficulty to about an 8/10. I'll eventually be able to get the game done, but not in the two days I have left to earn trophies.

With my last hope of victory shattered, this challenge may really end with me losing by just 0.15 points. I could potentially win with cheap trash, but I'd rather lose than pay to win. I'm just not that type of trophy hunter anymore.

As if I'd give up that easily!

I'll admit, after realizing that all of my multi-point games left would take too long, I didn't think I'd win. Actually, I still think I won't win. Though giving up after coming so far would just be sad. I said I wouldn't buy any cheap trash, but I said nothing about finishing what I had already started.

BEHOLD! With the last of my strength, I mustered up one final point, Heavy Fire: Shattered Spear. As a sign of respect, I have decided not to delay sync to victory. Now, with just over 40 hours to go, I wonder how @Kent10201 will respond. I'll be away from home for the rest of the year starting tonight, so this really is my last plat of 2018.

Despite being almost completely inactive five months this year, this has been a grand year of trophy hunting overall. This year, I broke my record for ultra rare plats in a year (five), and completed many personal challenges, including the completion challenge, getting a 100-point game, and getting my new hardest plat of all time, P4AU. I'm not sure exactly what adventures await in 2019, but I'm excited for the journey ahead.

This will likely be my last post of 2018, so I hope to come back with a grand victory post when I return.

Happy New Year everyone! I have returned and have the final scores!

I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say the final two weeks of this competition felt like the final episode of a battle anime. After I miraculously caught up with just two weeks to go, Kent and I were pretty much blow-to-blow. One surpassed the other numerous times, and neither of us knew who was going to win. Being less than a point behind, Kent had just a few days to plat Drawn to Death, a game I know nothing about but sounds excruciating.

Kent's boosting group was abnormally fierce, but by some stroke of luck, they were unable to finish the boost in time with just two hours to go. Devastated, Kent was ready to admit defeat. Celebrating New Year's with my friend and unable to earn any trophies anyway, I relished in the news, celebrating and having a jolly good time. But with just three hours to go, Kent did the seemingly impossible and found another boosting group.

The video below best describes my thought process during the final few hours of 2018:

Spoiler

I didn't think he'd actually make it, but with just 20 minutes to spare, Kent popped his final plat of 2018 and won the Challenge of Destiny. I couldn't have asked for a more climatic finish. Congratulations on your well-deserved win.

I alluded to this before, but 2018 was a great year for us both. We met our completion goals, and if you put our points together, it's almost like we met our goal of getting 500 points (that's how it works, right?). The fun doesn't end here though! 2019's challenge is just beginning! :giggle:
