Rewatching Lovely Complex now... I watched it once a long time ago but I don't remember what happens at all, but I still feel like I'd seen it before after each episode, it's weird. It's about a guy named Satoru has a supernatural ability that allows him to travel back in time in order to prevent a tragedy. A string of kidnapping incidents that occurred when he was a child happen to be linked to his current unfortunate circumstances, so he's sent back 18 years to right the wrongs of the past by uncovering the true culprit and preventing the murders of those closest to him. There are some incredibly dark moments in this anime as it deals with abuse and the like. It was uncomfortable to watch at times, which is why I quickly grew attached to the main character since he does everything he can to prevent it and not leave anybody alone. This is an anime that likes toying with your emotions, and boy did it. My only gripes with the anime is the somewhat predictable identity of the culprit and the Revival power not being properly explained. How did Satoru come to possess it? What exactly triggers it? So yeah, it kind of glosses over that, but it didn't really affect my enjoyment of it. I thought it was great all the way through. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (Movie) Score: 7/10 I was a little disappointed with this one, but that's only because I went in with high expectations. It's a good movie, but it does have some issues. I wasn't a fan of the plot twist and a certain character's motivations didn't really make any sense to me. Apart from that, though, I really enjoyed it. Makoto is that tomboyish, kinda dense girl you can't help but like. She gains the ability to leap through time (hence the movie title), but instead of using it for the greater good and what not, instead she uses it to show off, resolve minor issues, or avoid awkward encounters. Like I said, kinda dense. She quickly learns that these actions could have potentially devastating effects, though, which I guess goes for pretty much any piece of fiction involving time travel. Man it really was a good year for movies. Silent voice has been my favorite so far. But I have yet to see SAO (no spoilers please!) so time will tell. I doubt we'll have another year with great movies back to back to back ike this one for a while. ---------------------------------------------------- And I'm currently watching probably something everyone here already has(at least 1 version maybe). Finally getting around to it. Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood I was going to drop it after episode 3 because I didn't feel like it was taking itself serious enough. Got talked into continuing.
