The Case Files of the Lost, my Platinum list and backlog

Right now I am approaching my first major milestone, my Golden Anniversary in this account, aka my 50th platinum. As of now, the choice is between several titles:

Sc1510a.png Still only at 40% because most of the trophies require a lot of grinfing, but I can commit.

S9e13dc.png Am I finally gonna buckle and complete Chapter 2?!?

Sc27249.png Some more grindy trophies but at least this game is a little father ahead.

S2b66f4.png Birth by Sleep, to be exact. I should be able to get through all three stories again.

Sly 3 is on my KYC list but Sly 2 isn't too hard to get through.

S863085.pngS5915a0.png Both of these are on my Spring Backlog challenge but could contend.

Oh, sweet. You're finally playing some games I've heard of.

Ni No Kuni was one of the games I left unfinished on my old account. I loved the game, but the trophies required WAY too much grinding. I might go back to it someday...or simply pick up NNK2 when it releases in... *checks* ...thirteen days!? Well, there goes my spring break.

DQ Builders was a lot of fun. I actually prefer it over Minecraft, if only because of the graphics, but that timer made me rush through things a little too quickly for my liking. I know the timer only matters if you're going for trophies -- and it really shouldn't affect your overall enjoyment of the game -- but I hope they remove that feature in the sequel.

And I see you're still working on Digimon. Can't believe that game already has two sequels. I'll probably pick up one of them in the near future...

I only recall Hacker's Memory being an extended story sequel. Are you thinking about Digimon World: New Order, because it's a completely different, ehm, "experience." ?

What did you pick for #50?? I'm thinking Nino Kuni.

Well, if I can get my butt in gear and create a decent team to survive the remaining ranks of the Solosseum, I could definitely make that my #50. I was also thinking Dragon Quest Builders, I just have to get the remaining chapters done and all of the challenges, which aren't difficult, just time consuming.

Betting on Blue Reflection. :ninja:

No, not yet. I am trying to save my money, maybe I'll get that in April. ;)

So I found some videos which involve Jak II and Jak 3 and how you can get the platinum by using the debug menu to skip everything. While I do not condone cheating, right now I am in an evil mood: I found out that I got two more cavities and now my dentist is threatening full dentures unless I stop drinking my favorite soda(Throwback Mt. Dew) and only ingest diet sodas since they don't have any form of sugar in them. So I'm going to be drinking Diet Dr. Pepper for the rest of my life and I am in a very rotten mood.

I hate some of the missions in Jak II and Jak 3, so it's their own fault for not making the debug menu impossible to access and the PSN network for allowing trophies to pop even if you earn them with a level select. :P

I would have earned the plats legit if I didn't hate the game missions so damn much. I kept failing one in Jak II where you have to drive a zoomer to the stadium in under 3 minutes but I either run out of time by playing it safe or losing my way in that maze of Haven City or I die because I don't pay attention to the Crimzon Guard busting my @$$. Jak 3 was worse because the flut-flut race with the monks is badly coded, the monks are like Canary Mary in Cuckoo Cloudland where they always shoot ahead and you can never catch up.  *shrug*

The closest I've come to outright skipping a game is glitching Bioshock's hard trophy.

It's not that it seemed exceedingly difficult, but honestly the end-game enemies on normal were already absurdly tanky and I just didn't want to have to deal with an entire playthrough of bullet sponges.

In general I've found platinuming games I dislike to be a source of regret in the long run. I think Color Guardians is the only game I've platinumed solely for the trophies and looking back I just regret tainting my platinum list with it. I've also been working on Claire: Extended Cut, and two hour platinum or not, I'm fairly conflicted on whether or not it's worth permanently adding to my platinum list.

Though yeah, honestly, a lot of these old games just piss me off. I don't honestly care how well received the original God of War was, for instance - it has some of the most frustratingly bad game design I've seen in the last few years. (The next closest being Yooka Laylee.) Playing old games often ends up in me being reminded of why I typically stick to current gen titles.

@CJ_Mystery, a big congrats on your 50th platinum :D! At the rate your unlocking these plats, you'll be at 100 plats in no time at all :P! Have you got any plans on what you'd like to have as your 100th plat yet, or is it too early to say?

It's still a far ways off, so I am not sure. By the time I reach it, there will probably be a lot of great new games that I want to put on that major milestone. :)

makai.png (I can give the URL for his Youtube channel)

I want you to meet this guy. He is a Youtuber called Maka94 and his Youtube site is filled with various XBOX One guides for getting 100% achievements in them. Why am I promoting him? Because many of those games are also PS4 titles and, as you know, all XBOX achievements on a game are the same as the trophy list of the PS4 counterpart. So, expect me to mention him a few times as I race to Platinum #60, starting with...

UGH! FINE! I GET THE HINT. I NEED TO PLATINUM WRATH OF THE WHITE WITCH BEFORE PS NOW EXPIRES ON APRIL 4!!!

As the sequel is about to be be born(36 hours from now), and I am not renewing my PS Now sub next month(so I can save money for GameFly and Wizard101 for the next few months), I have to get cracking and get my trophy % up for the original Kuni, so...

10Me98aa5.png28M22a133.png

I have to do some underhanded s***. So here are the next trophy for W3... which I earned by save-scumming.

Basically, I sold all of my good armor and weapons which were worth over 10,000 guilders, and eventually got the half a million I needed for Guildering the Lily and then went a little further to get up to 810,000 guilders which I blew on chips in the Tombstone Casino so I could purchase all of the tickets for the RIP Room to get the second trophy, High Roller. Then I quit out of my game without saving so I regained all of my stuff.

Grinding for guilders is a pain in the tookis because you can't - the only enemy which drops lots of gold (ala Goldgolem in Dragon Quest) are the golden Tokos which are rare encounters in the Vault of Tears... and like any Tokos, they will flee at the first stink of danger and they are tough to stunlock so you will usually lose them and all that gold(which isn't much, 6200 guilders alone).

I'll probably sell off all my old armor and weapons to make enough money to swap for chips to buy Jumbo drops because now I have to grind out 60 more monsters by evolving a ton of them, then I will need some Big Babanas and Crownberries for the remaining 50% of the alchemy mixes I need for the 120 unique mixes. Grinding is in the near future.

I'm also going to need to grind for at least five kaledistones and scrolls of truth for the War God's Axe because I need to make it for that final quest to get the final merit stamps for that last merit award. After that, the Solosseum. I am trying to get more Evil Eyes to craft an Omniseal for Oliver so he can survive the four rounds you need to withstand and the f'king Golden Familiars in the last fight. I can do it but I only have two weeks to do it. :(

But hey, I'm over 50% now!

Rejoice to the Spirits, for I hath conquered :D

My second attempt and I was finally able to defeat the Champion of the Solosseum in NNK:WotWW. I think the last time it was so hard was because I didn't realize you could skip cutscenes between battles. Captain Whambat in Round 2 was a jerk and the Magimech in Round 3 nearly destroyed me, and I fell to critical health several times by fully metamorphed Dinoceros was able to take out the Golden Mite first and then get the Golden Drongo. After that, the Golden Hurly was just delaying the inevitable.

After that I did a lot of grinding, was lucky to get several double Tokotoko encounters in the Valley and managed to get a lucky catch of a Wayward Sun in the newly opened Miasma Marshes so now I am only 28 familiars away from Familiarologist. Also managed to clear all of the Rifts up to Bileheart. Sadly, not a single shine of a kaleidostone or scroll of truth yet. :( Also having trouble finding the rarer stuff to fill in some of the alchemy book to get that other trophy.

All that's left are the final rifts, the Guardian of the Worlds, and a bunch of grindy trophies since I'll need to farm for Snowdrop Bonbons for my Rank 3 Dinoceros(forgot the name) to five hearts and +50 Attack for the Pedigree and Overfamiliar trophies. I think I can get most of the remaining 28 familiars as catchs in the Marshes and Nevermore. I'm at 61% trophy completion, so close to the plat!
