Out of all movie awards that happen around this time of the year, if there's only one that truly matters it's the Oscars. That's right, it's the 90th Academy Awards and the ceremony will be on March 4th.

This week the nominees were announced and for this thread aside posting the nominees for each category, I will also share my picks on which choice would I like to win and which choice will probably win.

I will also dismiss smaller categories such as: Best Foreign Film, Best Documentary, Best Documentary Short, Best Live Action Short and Best Animated Short. Since I have not seen any of these and you probably didn't either. Like Best Foreign Film should be more important than it sounds, but unfortunately I haven't watched any of the 5 contenders in that same category.

In case you're interested, here's the full list of nominations:

I've seen all Best Picture films except Lady Bird, Call Me by Your Name and Phantom Thread but I really hope Get Out wins it, primarily because horror never gets recognised anymore, even when it's good!

The Florida Project, Logan, Blade Runner 2049, It (maybe) and War For The Planet of The Apes were Best Picture snubbed.

Why the fuck is The Boss Baby nominated? That film was awful...

I just hope Gary Oldman wins Best Actor as Darkest Hour was phenomenal and he was unrecognisable in the role, pure fine acting.

(and The Post is overrated, fight me :P )

I haven't seen any of the Best Picture nominees outside of Dunkirk yet. In Finland, the nominated movies usually premiere in theaters around the Oscars and some even after the awards. Anyhow, I usually try to see as many of the nominees as I possibly can, preferably before the Academy Awards.

I reserved tickets to Call Me By Your Name on Sunday and thinking about seeing Darkest Hour next weekend. The Shape of Water and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri are movies that I really want to see as well. Lady Bird seems to be the least interesting nominee for me as I am not a fan of Saoirse Ronan for some reason.
