Why was this a thing?

This took a lot of dedication and grinding but was very satisfying on completion.

Takes around five to over seven hours I think. Surprised to see this trophy is only Rare.

I have quite a few trophies that I suffered pain and misery for in order to get them, some more intense than others, some for longer than others. The trophy I chose might not have had as high of a pain spike as some others, but it probably made me suffer the most in total considering it took literal hundreds of hours of dedicated monotonous grinding to get it.

Empty Pockets

Spend 200,000,000 coin.

This silver trophy in the now dead game Orcs Must Die Unchained is by far the most ridiculous trophy requirement I have ever seen in gaming. The old game guide says the time for the platinum is around 400 hours, which might be correct if someone tries to maximize his efficency from day 1, which most people, me included, didn't do, so 500 hours or more is probably more accurate, half of which will go for this silver alone when everything else is already done.

OMDU was a genuinely fun game for me until that, but after getting everything done around the 150-200 hour mark it kinda felt like the game ran its course, but thanks to this silver the platinum was not even close to being in reach at that point. 200,000,000 sounds like a big number even with no context, and it is indeed a stupidly big number, getting this thing naturally by playing random matches would have easily taken over 1000 hours because the amount of gold you use for enemy killing traps until you reach the limit for that match is just not that high, selling them and rebuying them does not count either.

In order to get this, a couple of people had to come together and develop an optimized strategy that included a horribly unnatural and unfun way to play the game, playing the same map between 600 and 700 times depending on your efficiency, each match taking over 15 minutes with all the loading screens and pre match time even by someone experienced, and that is if you don't fuck anything up. Grinding this became a miserable daily routine I rarely took breaks from, especially once the server closure was announced, shit had to be done, I still remember how me and other people who suffered from the same task just got together trying to exchange information to decrease the number of matches required, and I remember the ecstatic scream of one particularly poor soul who completed this task in record time. Probably the most insane trophy I will ever have on my profile.

Because "Take The Cannoli" is a trophy you can do without giving it much attention. I watched some movies while my hands did all the work, annoying yes, somewhat time consuming and quite a unnatural to do in this otherwise great game, but does not require any skill or even much patience if you can do other stuff while getting it done. Vice City has many loyal fans, so I am not too surprised so many people wanted to complete it no matter the task.

San Andreas is definitely the best game in the trilogy. Poured countless hours into it. Back when cheat codes were still a thing, I used to spawn a lot of tanks.

Absolutely love the soundtrack in all three games. Music back then was so much better than it is now.

I’m waiting for a sale. The GTA Trilogy is a bit much.

I’ll have to look up a video for “Take The Cannoli” since everyone says to go for it before engaging in the story.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

Trophy: True Commitment (reach level 60 in multiplayer)

During the 20-25 hours of this utterly mindless grind, so mindless it eclipses rational thought, I contemplated just throwing in the towel not due to difficulty but rather fearing who I would be on the other side of this trophy. I can say with confidence that I will never pick up Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition ever again in my lifetime.

Star Wars Battlefront 2

- The Force is Strong With This One

the level progression in this game is so insanely long. a year ago ive spent 2 weeks grinding that rank 50, while only playing "Heroes vs Villains", because u getting a lot more xp in that mode than on any other, there wasnt any double xp events or anything, i guess i couldve waited for it, but i wanted to get over with it as fast as possible.

i played some other games with these kinds of trophies, i mean a couple of months later i also did Battlefront 1 and the grind wasnt that long or that bad.

Choose Your Path

it was one of the hardest trophies in the game, i did it legit, didnt know about this place back then, i got it while grindind the rank 50, they changed the trophy requirements now, it made my efforts obsolete.

i completed way more difficult games after that, but playing this, i was having the worst possible time ever.

The Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy was hard as **** due to the new physics system that requires precise, momentum-aware jumps and new "slippery edges".

Completing the remake trilogy felt a lot harder than other difficult games (e.g. Dark Souls), included a lot of stupid retrying and it often felt unfair.

But I especially remember two trophies being the most pain, both from the first entry in the series:

Practice Makes Perfect!

Getting the time relics was already a pain in some levels, but the reason why this is the most difficult trophy in the game is just one level: High Road. **** you, High Road!

Another honorable mention (DLC; not needed for platinum, but I love 100% as well):

- An Ancient Antiquity

There is a reason why "Stormy Ascent" was not included by the original developers due to it's supreme difficulty.

And then the remake developers wanted us to do it fast. Without checkpoints. GG.

My most painful would probably have to be 'Trial Athlete' in USF4.

Some trials require 1 frame links, so you have 1/60 of a second to enter the correct input in order for the combo to continue.

Were the unlockables and beating Evil Ryu on the hardest difficulty setting also hard?

Impossible Boy - Super Meat Boy (Beat Cotton Alley Dark World without dying)

In order to do this trophy you have to beat all 20 levels (Any order) without dying on Cotton Alley Dark and this is without doubt one of the most difficult trophies achieved on my profile. This trophy took me around 7-8 days to do by mainly playing this game only. It will take lot of patience and practice to earn this trophy and everyone (Even if you are not a specialist at Platformers) can earn this trophy with enough time. The only thing that saved me in this trophy was the option to quit out of the map without losing progress

Gold Plated - Need for Speed 2015 (Win Gold on all Prestige Events)

In order to do this trophy you have to get gold on all 41 events in Prestige mode which is the story events just on a harder version. I can't even begin to tell how much of a struggle this trophy was. The target times being set in these events don't provide any time for mistakes. The first thing I had to do was to find a car setup for the Speed events (Porsche 911 RSR 1973) and for the Drift events (Lamborghini Huracan) that would fit best to my driving style. The events was heavily RNG based as there were NPC everywhere to block my path as well as the timer delays a few seconds crossing the finish line.

Miniature Crown Master and Giant Crown Master in Monster Hunter World was really annoying to grind and  I have to do it again with Iceborne at some point.

Seal the Deal in Destiny 2 Forsaken the grind for a triumph seal is really fun when you have to do The Shattered Throne every three weeks three times for 5-6 months to get a stupid ship.

Cat Fight in Injustice 2 for that you need the Cat Call ability but it only drops from lootboxes. I opened lootboxes for 5 days to get this.

RNG sucks

It depends on whether you choose to exploit the AI. If you try and handle it like you would an online match then you'll struggle a lot.

Look at SFV, you have legends like Daigo Umehara that cannot clear survival mode, yet someone can just mash dragon punch and get it done?

The AI is designed to f**k you, predict your inputs and be as cheap as possible, so you have to return to the favour.

That’s nothing new. Old games from decades ago like Mortal Kombat 2 cheated because the AI predicted just about every move you did. I never got to Shao Kahn let alone the guy under it, but I said fuck it and just played the game casually with friends.

The Street Fighter series has always been difficult. I looked at the SSF4 trials on YouTube a number of years ago and they’re pretty crazy.

I always considered these fighting games best with friends and playing online. Much more engaging and fun that way. I would only go after the single player trophies if I was trying to aim for the platinum. I can’t do it because I lack the skills and I’m not fast enough.

Respect to those who got the Street Fighter games done.

SFIV is probably my proudest platinum. Yes vanilla SFIV, not SSFIV because by then I had the muscle memory down after months of playing trials and just had to work on execution.

MK vs DC also has incredibly difficult trials too. It made me not want to go back and ever play that again after the platinum. Would still give the edge to S/SFIV trials in difficulty though.

I didn't have the skills to get it done either cause it was my first fighting game. I think this is where the pride comes from with these titles, starting from scratch, cause there are people on here that find these trials easy. I actually gave up cause i realised i didn't have the speed to execute these combos on a DS4 , so i bought a fight stick. Spent 50+ hours learning how to use one, then another 100+ to get the trials done. All up it was a 300+ hour platinum, cause i levelled most characters to C grade legit cause the game was a like drug to me.

In the end, it's all subjective. Having love for a game will get you over the finish line in my experience, you simply don't give a shit how many attempts it takes.

The question is Spaz, do you share the same love for SMB?

Probably Rapid Discord in Overwatch. I mained Zenyatta for hundreds of hours and never quite managed to get this trophy until I boosted it. So many close calls, where I would hold my breath after a team kill to see if the trophy popped, but no.

I'm positive I did it once, but the trophy still didn't pop. It had issues popping for some people but who knows.

I’m at the point where I can do 15 - 16+ levels without dying on Dark Cotton Alley.

The problem is I lose my shit and focus once I’m near the finish line. Another problem is I’m only spending 30 - 45 minutes at a time actually doing the no death run. I take 15 - 20 minutes doing 7-1X - 7-20X just to get a feel.

I’m generally good at platformers because a part of my childhood consisted of playing those old Mario - Sonic games over and over and over. I played a lot of platformers spanning from the NES to the N64, and I know what to expect from most indie platformers.

I can definitely get the last trophy I need in a few days. I just need to stay focused long enough.
