Welcome to the results of the 2017 Guide of the Year Awards! It's been nearly four years since the guide system originally launched, can you believe that? Since then a lot of you have contributed some wonderful, detailed, and incredibly helpful guides on the site. We've come a long way too! Combined, your guides have been viewed by millions, and it seems like every year the quality of them just get better and better due to more awesome writers putting their awesome work out there, or maybe even out of your pure interest to outdo your older guides. This year's guides were a huge step up compared to the previous years, which is why it took us so long to decide upon a top 3. Since you've all been waiting for the results, let's find out who won. Can I get a drum roll please? *Insert drum roll sound effect* The winners of 2017 Guide of the Year Awards are: Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony Trophy Guide by GoldenDevilGamer, ManaFear, and PixelatedPortal Persona 5 Trophy Guide by Undead_Wolf_N7, A-Brawl3r, and Mah2c The Witness Trophy Guide by GonzoWARgasm These writers will get the following valuable prizes : $300 goes to GoldenDevilGamer, ManaFear, and PixelatedPortal $200 goes to Undead_Wolf_N7, A-Brawl3r, and Mah2c $100 goes to GonzoWARgasm That's... *Cash register noises* ... a total of $1,600 to guide writers this year! Congrats to the winners! You all did an amazing job and delivered a professional piece of work to help out gamers all around the world. These guides will receive those shiny Guide of the Year Awards 2017 emblems. The Danganronpa guide has some of the most incredible formatting we've seen, it really utilizes all the guide system features to their limits. The Persona 5 guide is a king of detail and collaboration, it's absolutely fun to just browse through it. Lastly The Witness guide is just incredible, it not only gives you the bear essentials that you need, but also guides you through the game in a careful way to push you to have fun, figure things out on your own, and not get spoiled. It was incredibly hard to narrow things down, so just because your guide didn't end up as one of the winners, does not mean it wasn't good - In fact, we're all so surprised at how good they all are, and that includes all the ones that didn't manage to get nominated. Competition is getting fierce! The guide team would like to thank everyone for putting so much time and effort into their guides. Thank you guys, keep it up! It's become somewhat of a tradition to look back at how much the guide system has grown during the past year, so here are some stats about that: We now have 2 guides that have reached 100,000 views, this is a new milestone. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II Overall Walkthrough was the first guide to reach that. The Horizon Zero Dawn and Uncharted 4 guides are so close to getting there! Last year at this time 48 guides had over 10,000 views, now 382 guides have over 10,000 views! Last year 6 guides had over 20,000 views and 2 guides reached 30,000, now 88 guides have 20,000 views and 35 have over 30,000 views. Currently 6 guides have over 50,000 views and 4 guides have more than 75,000. There are now 1,665 guides that have been written on the site! We're curious to see which guide will be the first to reach 1,000,000 views, though this may be a bit too early for that. So let's just settle for 500,000 250,000 first. I'm really pleased with 2nd place, especially since I only started writing guides in the past year or so (my first guide was published in December 2016).
