If you're faced with hours of farming for crowns, are you going to go for a 50/30 minute quest, or a 15 minute one? A single monster, or two/three for increased chances? You'd need to test every possible variation of Investigation for any kind of accuracy or reliability to this, it's all circumstantial and heavily biased data as it is... It's not an indication of how long the fight will last. I'll try to combine Monster Weakness skill + 15 min + 3 targets mission and see if the chances are better that way or not. I'm pretty sure that there is no possible advice for large crowns. Mini crown drop can be possibly improved with palico weakness skill and/or 15min missions. If large crowns had similar boosts (like 50 min missions giving more large crowns) then the mini/large rate would be about the same. Best advice is probably to go out of your way to kill non target monsters if they look larger than normal. Got a giant gold crown from pink Rathian yesterday during an investigation by doing that.
