Omega Labyrinth Z potentially banned in the UK

213 posts in this topic

Hi all, personally a game I was interested in, had a message this morning from shopto where I had pre-ordered it

Dear Customer,

We are contacting you to advise that we will be cancelling your pre-order for Omega Labyrinth Z.
Unfortunately this title has been banned from the UK.
We apologise for any disappointment and inconvenience caused.

Kind regards
ShopTo Team

Pre-ordered the PS4 version see where I get with that but the Vita version has been delisted ¬_¬

I think its most likely true as Galgun 2 was refused in Germany, but usally games are pretty Laxed in the UK.

Worst comes to worst I'll pick it up when I Japan next month

I really hope this hasn't been banned, as it's one of my most anticipated games of the Summer 😞 but I guess I'll just have to import it from the US or Asia if an English copy shows up there.

You might want to pass this one onto the devs, It might be certain stores are taking a stance.
It happened over here last year with Gal Gun while the game was allowed on the PSN store the store who had the physical copy pulled it from the shelf.

The Devs were not told and only found out through social media.

The store specifically told him that it was flat out banned in the UK, which if it isn't is a blatant lie and he could easily pursue some sort of legal action, not that it would really be worth it.

Yeah and PQube have not mentioned anything about it yet meaning they might not be aware,
The funny part is the game is still up for per order on the shop that he preordered it from. I did a quick search on a few UK online stores and they all have it listed still, If it was flat out banned these shops would already have it removed, not mention many gaming sites would have also reported it as video games getting banned is always a big talking point.

It's been refused classification over here, at least which got a kotaku article (with of course people defending the ban, for fuck sake). I hadn't even heard of this game and have no real intention of playing it but our classificiation board is beyond fucked.

I enjoy dungeon crawlers so I was getting this but knew it would not make it over here. However most of the Australian public seen that one of the characters was smaller is body size (Main reason why it was banned) and called anyone who supported this game a paedophile on social media so a couple of the news reports of this were taken down as it was getting out of hand.

I will import the game I see the humor side of the sexual content and all reports and reviews point that the game is a good game beyond the sexual content.

Vita has been taken down but PS4 is still up so I've tried to pre-order the ps4 version

I have the first game, but as I said if its a flat ban on all versions I will just pick it up in Japan next month, just another game to add to the list to look out for =P

Hmm, Vita might have been banned due to the touch interaction, but games like criminal girls and valkyrie drive have been allowed so not sure unless PEGI have made recent changes to ssystem.

Seems a bit ridiculous, to be honest. Thank god they can't stop us from importing it...

In this day and age of internet sales and not needing retailers to distribute your products, why not take a chance and sell direct? PEGI and ESRB can still do their thing, if the publishers want to pay for them to do so, but it seems like it's worth the gamble to let people order direct from the publisher. Especially with the prudish decisions it seems certain countries are making.

If I was looking to get into business, I would consider getting some funds together and catering to exactly this market. Become a publisher that handles these "risky" (from PEGI/ESRB sub-standards) and distributes directly to consumers. Depending on the contracts, volume and global locations, this could drastically reduce the cost of these specialty import shops.

I hadn't heard of this game before, but thanks to it being banned, now I have and I think I'll pick it up for Vita!

It looks like all the places that had preorders are removing it from their sites. Game.co.uk, Gamestop.ie, 365games, and I'm not sure if Amazon ever had it available.

Apparently only 4 other games have ever been refused classification in the UK. Three due to excessive violence and also that game about raping people. If this fits among those then that's not a good sign of things to come.

With this and the porn age-gating thing that's happening next month, I don't like what's happening to this country :(

I asked PQube on Twitter but at this point it might as well be confirmed. These bans don't seem to apply to digital games, so there's still the PSN store if you don't want to import.

Funny thing about the 4th one is it was never being released outside of Japan anyways so there was no point in banning it

Legal action for cancelling a preorder and refunding your money?

I hadn't even heard about the game, but seems I can order it from a domestic store I usually buy from. I want to support the game, but seems it's front oriented which might not be good from a personal preference pow.

Will be intresting to see if this changes PQube's views and not release a Vita version at all for either region. I don't think it will change much but crazier things have taken place before

Play-asia still have the Australian version listed which has been banned, I think Play-Asia is just slow at updates.

For now.

Who's to say that these games don't just disappear from the store overnight in this digital age with governments trying to ban this and that? I'd highly recommend people spring for physical on these "controversial" titles. Less likely to be raided and have them taken away.
