DamagingRob
Very little progress made, so yeah.. Hopefully, get more time in today, and post an early review tonight or tomorrow morning. But I did earn a trophy, and drop that completion. By 0.22%. Lol. So far, I've spent more time creating the character I was going to play as, than I have actually playing the game. :/ @dertswa687o Thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to do that on my harder runs, then. Popular Post Oobedoob S Benubi
Game #5: Uncanny Valley First dayTotal playtime: about forty-five minutes Well, that was disappointing. I played until the loser ending (which I got because I died and had made a specific choice, according to a walkthrough I checked later). There's a bit of potential here, but the ugly 8-bit of it all is very off-putting, the time limit per day does not help at all and neither does not knowing what the fuck you're supposed to do in the game; the game changes its tune too damn often for such a short thing. I feel like a broken record when saying that 8-bit can be beautiful if people just bother a bit, but it's true, both for actual old games and for new ones. Spoiler I'm not doing a final review yet because I might do a second run with a walkthrough to see the "good" ending, but as it is now this game was a disaster.
Popular Post CJ_Mystery
Game #3, Day #3 - Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online So I didn't advance the story but I did unlock Compa and IF's Chaos shop, unlocking better equipment. I was a bit upset that the stuff I upgraded was better but then found out that Tamsoft only upgrades stuff two levels maximum so I wasn't too worried about the new weapons. That stuff is expensive, though, so I had to farm a bit. Entered the Tethyr Temple and got scolded for entering, found out that the place was WAY TOO OP for my wimpy girls, so I went into Adroite Caves and fought slightly tougher enemies and a palette swap of the earlier robot boss which wasn't too tough. Then I took on a quest to take on a boss in Alph Plains and returned to where I fought the Great Dogoo(dog-faced slime) only to fight something that looks like MetalGarurumon. He was pretty challenging as he does a nasty attack that hits everyone around him and he dashes around making it hard to target him, but I eventually whittled him to zero HP. Got three miscellaneous trophies. Tomorrow I'll have to grind the dickens to get the rest of my party outfitted with better weapons so they can take on Tethyr Temple. At least I discovered Nep's new skills, including a healing skill like Blanc's, and customized her accordingly. I wish I had known to check the skill sets to find out this, it would have made the Logi Mountain so much easier! Trophy Completion: 25%
Popular Post MarkusT1992
Game #3: Color Guardians (Day 1+2) Color Guardians is a game I would never have played if not for PS+. It's normally not what I would buy. Still I'm glad I have the opportunity to play it as I have a lof of fun with it so far. This game is basically a runner type game. The game has several world with ten levels per world plus a boss level. All you do is running automatically from left to right and switching lanes to avoid obstacles and collect colored orbs. The first level is a tutorial to teach you the basics of the game. There are different colored orbs scatterd throughout each level you have to collect. There are red, blue, yellow and multicolor orbs. To collect an orb you must be the same color as it. You switch between the colors by pressing for yellow, for red and for blue. After completing a level you earn a rating of one to three stars. For three stars you need to colect every orb in the level. Then you can also earn three diamond stars. For that you need to collect the orbs the perfect way. You do that by pressing one of the three buttons mentioned above right befor getting the orb. By pressing the button you spin around which you can do all the time to make it easier to collect the orbs the perfect way. The levels start pretty easy with little to no danger in it. In the later levels you get introduced to new mechanics like mushrooms that let you jump or jellies which will send you a lon way backwards or forwards. Did I mention that you can't controll the speed you're running with or the direction? After defeating the boss of a world you unlock the abillity to find little creatures called Tokis in each level of that world. They are hard to miss and shouldn't be difficult to get, at least in the first world. When you find all Tokis in a world you unlock bonus levels. I havn't tried them yet so I don't knwo how hard the are compared to the normal levels. There's also a story in this game. Some evil guy stole all the color from the world and you, as a Color Guardian, have to bring it back. I know it's not a good story but you don't need one for this game anyway. So far I completed the first world with all diamond stars except for the bonus levels. Althought it is not neccessary to get diamond stars in each level I'll try to get them all. The levels are pretty short so far with only lasting somewhat between 2-5 minutes. This game is perfect to play a few levels if you don't have much time. I'm playing the PS4 version but you can also play on the Vita on the go. The short levels make this a perfect game for the Vita for short trips to work or somewhere else. I don't have a Vita but I guess there is cross save available too. Time played: ~ 2h Trophies: 17/46

Instead of me having to stumble into them eventually, the explanation given about the mechanic should have covered it off the bat. I pretty much figured that the up and down attacks work the way you're describing. Not sure how I feel about that mechanic though. Guess I'll see how it gels with the setting up of the chain attacks in the long run. I'll try to keep your advice about upgrading certain skills in mind. . I grabbed the guillotine chop skills for Kanata and that has him mostly doing knock down attacks that give crystals for bonus experience. It really makes a difference, especially once you start getting the chained fights where you do 2-4 battles in a row and get huge bonuses to experience and gear drops. But yeah, I agree the game could use to explain some stuff better because I learned a lot just by trying stuff out and seeing what works. Getting the big chains is a bit tricky to me still and in theory I should be able to do a 100+ chain, but the best I've done is about 60.

Getting the big chains is a bit tricky to me still and in theory I should be able to do a 100+ chain, but the best I've done is about 60. I've put another hour into it in the meantime. The last "new" thing were those chain fights you talked about. I've yet to "unlock" more skills as that seems to be either tied to story progression or to reaching specific levels. So far I've set a base attack routine that tends to kill all enemies in one turn, unless they're too spread out. Still need to optimize it though, as currently I get more loot than XP out of it. Haven't really been paying attention to the chains yet, but definitely haven't gotten to a 100 . I tend to start the chains off with one of the casters (usually Mayura), as it's the one that takes the longest to "prepare", wait a few seconds then use Kanata for 2 attacks and the remaining AP I tend to use with Mitsuhide. Basically attacks from all three hit several enemies at the same time. I think it would've been better, if the game would allow you to see how much AP the individual attacks use up. As in a queue type of way, instead of the attacks going off immediately. It just feels like the game has a somewhat tactical aspect to it, but it collides with the way the combat is set up to be. A bit unfortunate, as it's an interesting game.
Myu
21 hours ago, ladynadiad said: I don't think they cropped up until the cave on a regular basis. But you remember toward the beginning how Kanata saw a crystal and heard the voices of his friends and then after that it no longer glowed? That was an essence crystal and the leftover from that was a spent one. After that area you start seeing them around in dungeons. You hit it with an attack and you have a chance of getting an item and they items you get from those are usually pretty good recovery items. The dungeons that are hotspots also tend to have a lot more of those around too. I'm about 10 hours into the game (Chapter 5, lvl ~22)and it took me a while to discover (by accident) that you can smash those crystals The game is fun so far. I got several new characters in a very short time and after trying them all, I decided to use Katana for his AoE skills, Kiriya because he can do a lot of damage to bigger variants, Koharu for her Fire Storm combined with Magic Bullet 3 Tracer and finally Suzaku for her AoE skills, especially with the bomb-like enemies. So far Koharu manages to clear most of the enemies and the other three clear what's left on the field.
Popular Post DamagingRob
Days 1 & 2- Mass Effect: Andromeda Hard to say if I like this game yet or not. Again, didn't put a lot of time in.. Was out of the house for 5 hours yesterday, and 2 of those were spent sitting at a car dealership, while they changed the oil and vacuumed the new van. DX But here's what I've got. After spending over an hour creating my character (damn those things ), I finally got to start the game. My first thought was it looks nice, which is to be expected from a blockbuster AAA game. You play as Sara Ryder (or whatever you choose to name yourself) or her brother. One of you wakes up right away, while the other can't be due to some complication. So, I'm guessing she would be stuck in cryostasis, if you choose to play as him. You're both on a ship with your father and a bunch of colonists, looking for a habitable planet to live on. When checking out a planet with your dad... stuff happens, and you're now the new Pathfinder. Yay? After that, you arrive on an inhabited planet, where a stranded group of people and aliens had been waiting for a Pathfinder's arrival. But have given up hope of one ever arriving.. But now you're there, so everything's good? Not really. They expected your father, not a "wet behind the ears" Pathfinder. So, you'll have to prove you have what it takes. Most of my time has been spent talking to various people and aliens (with that well known dialogue choice wheel), learning more about this place, picking up side quests, etc. As such, I've only been in a few shootouts. But the mechanics seem solid enough. And there are tons of skills you can learn. I've only used like 3, though. :/ One that freezes enemies, another that siphons their energy, and one that turns you invisible temporarily. Not much else to say just yet. I assume I'll enjoy it, though, as long as the story isn't boring. Time played: 3-4 hours. Trophy progress: 3/56 for 4% and an E rank. Popular Post CJ_Mystery
Game #3, Day #4 - Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online Well, I got another skit-based trophy which made me laugh. Vert is such a weirdo, that is all I will say without getting into anime terms. If you want to get Low Angle and Put Me Down Already, you NEED to click on the characters with ! over their heads every time you complete a major quest. Speaking of quests, I finally unlocked the area for the next story(Yie Ar Forest, which has a lot of trees that blocked my view and made it hard to navigate) and got the second Sacred Treasure after fighting a really strong mechanical bird. I controlled Nepgear and had her use her spells from a distance while the others tanked the hits. Even so, the bird had some range attacks that would have wiped me out. I had tried to go to Tethyr again but the enemies do too much damage for my level. I actually unlocked the trophy for doing skills 500 times during the battle. This got the Guild to Rank 3. Finally unlocked every other facility in Wishuel, two options that really weren't interesting for advancing the game(Plutie and Peashy's shop which sells accessories and the minstrel who is just a music test that changes the town BGM) and did a few more quests to upgrade all of the tier two equipment to EX level, the best level you can upgrade to. Tomorrow will be clearing a couple more quests and trying to hit all of the characters with ! over their heads to unlock the next area... maybe I'm strong enough to tackle Tethyr Temple NOW? Naaaah... ? Trophy Completion: 30%
Popular Post dizzyshadow
Game 5 : Dungeons 3 The dungeons series is best described as a cross between the classic dungeon keeper & warcraft (the original RTS not the online monstrosity). I played Dungeons 2 a couple of KYC's ago and enjoyed it so I thought i'd give this ago, it follows on from your victory in dungeons 2 and the ultimate veil is bored having no one left to fight, eventually he discovers an unknown continent but has trouble getting there. He creates a shadow of himself which can fly there, the shadow possess dark elf Thalya and uses her to front the conquering of the new continent. Thalya is somewhat conflicted about this as she both wants to be good and bad and there is frequent reference to her struggle. The game play is identical to Dungeon 2, build a strong dungeon, hire monsters to defend you and then once strong enough venture forth into the Overworld to destroy everything in sight (or whatever your mission is.) Its generally not to challenging as long as you are patient and build up enough before you venture forth, the one change i have noticed is there is an extra type of resource you need to gather this time, evilness, which is found by capturing place of extreme good in the overworld. I suspect there will also be a few new rooms and monsters as i get further into it, but to be honest its really nothing new. Unfortunately this game just didn't do it for me, i'm not really sure why given i enjoyed Dungeons 2. But for some reason i'm just couldn't get into it, perhaps i'll go back and try again later, but i suspect this will end up with all my other unfinished games. Playtime : 2-3 hours Trophies: 5/61 Rating: Completion: 52:86% Next Up : should be Madden 18, but i may swap the order, so we'll see.
Popular Post Metal Slime King
BioShock 2 (Rating: ) This game pulled me in pretty good despite my general aversion to FPS games, it's just a really unique experience and a real work of art. I started in with the Minerva's Den DLC which is a separate side story that functions as a good introduction to the game mechanics and finished that up in the allotted time frame. I adopted some little sisters, harvested some ADAM, fought some Big Daddies and some dreaded Big Sisters, got the high score in a silly mini-game and escaped Rapture. For the one person who's avoided hearing anything about BioShock, Rapture is an underwater city built by rogue industrialists who all took Ayn Rand's advice and "went Galt", fleeing a society of norms and values and creating a new society of unregulated experimentation and growth. One of these experiments was with a substance called ADAM, harvested from a deep water slug which can give people numerous psychic abilities through various Plasmids you can purchase or find. An overuse of ADAM has caused most Rapture residents to go insane and become splicers, like zombies with psychic abilities and an adorable habit of mindlessly ranting and raving whenever they're around. There are a group of genetically modified little girls who can extract ADAM from certain corpses littered around the map, they are always paired up with a Big Daddy, an extra strong modified dude in a diving suit. Your character is also a Big Daddy but a special Big Daddy who is outside of the normal system and has their own agenda. You can adopt little sisters by killing their Big Daddies and you can help them gather ADAM or you can just extract ADAM from them directly, which kills them. Having a moral system in a game where it's advantageous to kill small children for an immediate payout is pretty grim stuff. When you have a little sister collect ADAM you will be stuck watching her for the process. A bunch of splicers will be attracted to her and you will have to fend them off. You can secure an area surrounding a harvest using hacked security systems, trap explosives and mini-turrets before harvesting which introduces a nice element of strategy. The story is told through direct radio communications with remote people driving your immediate objective mixed in with audio recordings that you collect from all over the levels that provide some backstory on the various factions in-fighting that caused this ideal Utopian market society to tear itself up. The graphics are good, the audio is alright, if a little subdued but it's the hauntingly surreal environment they create that is really something special. From the impressive Gothic environments to the olde tyme style advertisements for in game items to the retro themed introduction videos for new Plasmid abilities. It all works to build a very interesting game I would definitely recommend to anyone and one that I will certainly work on the 100% for. Completion: (8 out of 69 trophies) 10%, but 100% on the Minerva's Den DLC pack.

CJ_Mystery
So I think I accidentally skipped a day and my third period is going to end on the 17th instead of the 18th like it should(every six days), so I might just not play today and make tomorrow Day #5. Either that or not play tomorrow in honor of St. Patrick. ☘️ I counted properly and got this: March 1-6 March 7-12 March 13-18 But this is my fifth day and it's the 16th. I blame Daylight Savings Time for stealing a day from the year. (And yes, I counted. I know I have played Cyberdimension Neptunia for four days so far!) Popular Post CJ_Mystery
Game #3, Day #5: Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online Decided to take the hit today and tomorrow and not start my fourth game until Monday because I miscounted the days. The image above is the third Sacred Treasure, which I got the trophy for, but that's the only trophy I got. All of the quick trophies are claimed so now I have to do a bit of grinding for the last trophies, will probably save that until the end. That wolf I mentioned in Alph Plains? Yeeeah, I was supposed to wait until the quest came up for it. Some reason, the boss spawned before the quest. I did complete all of the Rank 3 quests so for but now I have to go back to Yie Ar Forest to fight another giant. The guardian of the Moonstone Pin was REALLY tough, he took out Neptune in one hit. I did, however, get a couple of joke frozen treat weapons that are REALLY not jokes, they're the strongest weapons I have so far for Neptune and Vert. Sadly, you cannot upgrade them. I also found some better weapons for Nepgear and Noire. My team right now is Nep, Noire, Blanc(for healing) and Nepgear(to break guards and for strong elemental attacks, she now has her rank 3 fire spell). Tomorrow will be the last day with the CPUs guild (for now) and maybe I'll open the dungeon for the last Sacred Treasure. This is an enjoyable Neptunia game so far.
Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #3 - Day #4 - Progress Time played: around 3h30m Trophies earned: 2/45 Didn't play all that much more since my last update, nevertheless I'll do a short one today. Got to the point where I encounter the 5th party member and some new enemies also appeared. Al my party members are currently at level 9 and haven't had any issues with defeating the enemies. Health partially refilling after a battle helps I suppose. I ended up using berries (health recovery item) for the first time about halfway through as 2 characters were below half of their total health. This is mainly due to the dungeons being fairly long, especially if you're like me and enter every side area to search for loot. Still haven't gotten any more skills and don't have enough SP to invest, so it'll be a while until I get to see what other abilities there are. I also haven't been able to explore a dungeon to 100% as there are still some movement options that aren't unlocked yet. A bit of a bummer. Speaking of exploring, there's a map you can check while inside the dungeon. It is very bare bones though, and I don't really like the way it looks / is structured. I also have been going back to Agents of Mayhem, mainly for the online contracts. I should be at 8/15 now. The game tracks online and offline contracts as a whole, so I don't really know how many I have done, but if my math is correct I should be at 8. Popular Post Kevvik
Game #5: Exist Archive Initial/Day 3 Impressions Time played: 3 hr 45 min So, I haven't been contributing much with work/RL the past few days but my experiences with Exist Archive seem to be pretty much in line with everyone else's so far, what with a large chunk of us playing this. Not really sure that I can add a lot to the conversation though. I am intrigued to see where the story is going and am enjoying the game, though still on Chapter 3. Yamatoga adds a delightfully droll sense of humour to the storyline and an interesting twist to the direction that the story seems to be going. His voice acting has a very different feel to that of all the playable characters but given his origin, I find that works in this case. The other characters don't really have a whole lot of depth thus far but I'm optimistic at least. It looks good when it wants to and is pretty spartan the rest of the time. The platforming around the level is serviceable but far from anything special. Combat looks like it could have a lot of depth to it but, as has been previously stated, the explanation of how to use it is really weak. The only time I have used berries for healing so far has been in a boss battle, otherwise the post battle healing has been enough for me. I do like the system of attacking in one phase and guarding in the other. Guarding can be a generic "put everyone in guard mode to reduce damage" or actually trying to time it to possibly offset damage completely. Plus you can get left exposed by guarding to early and having the guard broken, leaving you vulnerable to big damage from other enemies. Skills may play in more once I get more skill points and have some room to play around. Overall, my impression is more about potential than experience as I think there is a lot more to this game that I just haven't opened up yet. Trophies earned: 2/45, 2% for E rank Score so far: 7/10 (I feel like I am giving this score a lot this event) Completion rate: 79.08% (-1.42% for the event) Next up: Game #6: Sundered
Popular Post CJ_Mystery
Game #3, Final Day: Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online Yes, I decided to use this image. Sue me, the look on Blanc's face is priceless. So didn't do very much again. The loading screen is the one thing making me not want to play this. It's so long... and unskippable. A five-minute loading screen really is the one fly in the ointment of this part of Neptunia. Spoiler Just jumped on and did the next dungeon and found that the last Sacred Treasure is held by an unwinnable boss so now it's time to go get the stupid Achille's Heel for it. The bosses are getting much harder and keeping alive is getting tougher. It doesn't help that you have to farm a dungeon a million times to get the cash for better equipment. I shouldn't have spent all of it on prayers... Final Review: For those who are new to the Neptunia series, I highly recommend jumping in with this title. It is the most user-friendly of the franchise and Neptune's Introduction Times(if you don't button-mash through the dialogue) really describe all of the Neptunia characters so you don't have to play the other games in the series, though once you fall in love with the characters(like I did long ago), you want to. Will I Enjoy the Platinum Journey? Oh, definitely. I've only unlocked Rank 4 and thus am halfway through the game(but 75% of the way through the main quest-line) so I'll probably come back to this. It's easy to drop into and there is the diary for catching up and finding out what happened. Trophy Completion: 40% Completion Drop: NOPE! It actually ROSE to 87.94% That's because I... sort of cheated up a plat for Jak 2 and increased my trophy count. Oops. I'm not really committing murder at all. Gonna skip tomorrow because I miscounted the days. On Monday, I revisit an old classic in remade format! Popular Post ladynadiad
Progress so far: Up to the ruins in Pandora and getting my butt kicked by the boss Trophies: 5 out of 38 (E rank) Honest opinion? This is not a great remaster of a classic game. The graphics are so lifeless, the voice acting in English is terrible, the battles are so slow, and so on. The basic gist of the classic game is there, but honestly they didn't even bother to do basic things like have the characters' mouths move in animations. When you attack an enemy there is quite a delay in the damage showing up and the enemy dying. The battle issues were present in the original version, but it didn't seem so awful back then because you expected some difficulty due to technical limitations on the SNES and to be honest, I don't remember it being this hideous of a delay. One would expect that those issues would be resolved on a system like the PS4 and Vita that can definitely handle smooth fast-paced combat just fine. That being said, the game itself is solid and decent. I'd just expect that with a remaster that they'd make some effort to make the combat as smooth as we know an action RPG can be now, especially with the $40 price tag put on it. Right now I'd say wait for this one to go on sale or get a port of the SNES version. This version isn't worth $40, maybe $20 at most. I honestly am very disappointed because I know full well SquareEnix can do better than this and its faults just scream lazy cash grab. Popular Post Kevvik
Game #6: Sundered Initial impressions Time played: 2.5 hrs Sundered is a 2D Metroidvania hack and slash. Story has been pretty slim so far. I was walking through a sandstorm when a building popped up in front of me and tentacles sprung from the ground, pulling me under. On waking, I wander a bit, jumping over sharp bushes which damage me if I touch them, slowly dropping my tiny health bar. Eventually I find a device which talks to me, calling itself the Shiny Trapezohedron. It says, here, this is how you fight. I drop through a floor into what looks like an overgrown military complex. Then I find stuff to upgrade skills. Then monsters kill me. I get reborn by the Shiny thing and apply (sort of xp) to a skill tree to get abilities and upgrades. Then head back in to the complex to rinse and repeat as I look for switches to access new areas and open shortcuts. With me still? It's about this exciting. Combat isn't bad but nothing special. You can dodge and jump a lot but it's not as tight as it should be which is frustrating when the hordes hit. You have a map which sort of guides you to objectives but the floors are procedurally generated so some fixed points are the same but the route changes slightly each time. New abilities like a shield and double jump help but so far I'm not seeing anything earth shatteringly new. I've got a few trophies and will likely plug away at it a bit more but so far it's really not doing much for me. It's not a bad game but it's not really coming across very good either, mainly meh. Load times are also longer than I think they should be (15-30 seconds). Trophies earned: 4/21, 6% for E rank Score so far: 5/10 Put some time into Rime last night and tonight since I wasn't interested really in Sundered. Finished it with the plat so boosted my completion rate a bit. Really enjoyed the story with a twist I wasn't really expecting as I have been desperately trying to avoid spoilers for the game. Metal Slime King
@ladynadiad It's a shame to hear about the Secret of Mana reboot not living up to reasonable expectations of quality, I was looking forward to that but I can definitely wait for a decent deal on it. What I was really looking forward to was Square releasing an update of Mana 3 which English gamers never got a legitimate copy of. Now I'm less enthusiastic. Square might always pull the old double troll anyways and release Secret of Evermore again, which I would be happy not to buy. I played the first bit of Grand Kingdom and didn't have much luck getting into it. It seemed like an overly convoluted mess, a pretty enough mess with decent music that fits the theme but a mess nonetheless. The story characters don't seem to have any relation to the combat party members. You fight entirely with random joes you buy. I get that you're the commander giving orders but who's that Flint guy? Why isn't he on the field? I actually didn't buy a fighter for my party because I though the fighter in the intro mission was Flint and he was in my party permanently. If none of that makes sense I'll get into specifics after I try giving the game another play tomorrow. I don't dislike the combat system, it's an interesting combination of turn based strategy and button mashy bits. What I was surprised to find myself coming back to quite a bit was Brawlhalla. It's simple fun and quick action battles are easy to get into and out of. It quickly became my "I don't really know what I want to play now" game which is a good way for even the grindiest of games to eventually find their way onto my completed list. I might have to re-evaluate that rating I gave it. Edited March 18, 2018 by mking_63

You attack the monster, it takes a couple of seconds before damage registers. Problem is, the enemies don't seem to have the same delay issues. I've had problems with characters dying because my heal spell was delayed, but the enemy's damage sure was able to go in before my spell even though I queued it up before the attack came. In the original that sort of lag only happened if there were more than three monsters on the screen. Fighting battles seems like such a chore in this game, even in the initial area when you can one shot kill everything.
Popular Post MidnightDragon
Here's my review for game #3 Right out of the gate, I'll start by saying I didn't spend nearly as much time on this game as I did the first two, but it wasn't saying anything about the quality of the game. Various outside factors kept me from playing more, so this review won't be quite as in depth as the first two. That being said, I did enjoy what I did play. In the game, you play as a warrior who is on his way to a duel when an opponent throws him in a portal, which transports him to Rainbow Moon. Not the most original story in the world, but that's OK. I didn't get too far into the game, so I'm not really sure what the rest of it entails, though I'm sure the opponent you were going to fight at the beginning is a boss in the game if not the final boss itself. The fights definitely have a strategy RPG feel to it, where characters make moves on a battlefield. I haven't played many games like that, so it did take some getting used to. There was a tutorial, but I found something on Rainbow Moon's website that helped me understand it a bit better. I spent most of my play time exploring the initial area and getting used to the battle system. It's a nice change of pace since most RPGs I play are western style. The game has a day/night cycle, which is pretty cool. Shops do close at nighttime. There are campsites out in the wild and you can use them to control what time of day or night it is as well. I'm definitely looking forward to eventually going back to this game to see what the rest of it entails, but that probably won't be for a little while. It's a 100 hour plat minimum, so will be in it for the long haul! Edited March 18, 2018 by MidnightDragon
Popular Post Jaguargenie
Final Review Game 3 Play time: about 6 hours I'm 3 for 3 in this event thus far. This is the third game for this event, and I really enjoyed it. It is the game I enjoyed least from the three, but it was still very solid and enjoyable. I only have a very things to expand upon from my initial impressions. The difficulty is appropriate for the beginning of the game, but as you progress, the power of your character quickly overwhelms any opposition you might face. About 3/4 of the way through, you actually pick up a set of power armor and then all bets are off. You can almost stand toe to toe with a tank, trading shots, and come out the other side alive. This game screams "Metroidvania" and leaves items throughout the map that have to be accessed later. This is great and part of the DNA of the genre, but let me tell you, backtracking isn't easy and in some cases not fun. There aren't shortcuts or any type of fast travel. In some areas, they are one way and getting back around takes you the longest way possible. The cleanup stage (which I am in right now), can be really aggravating because of it. The story is ridiculous and really throw away. There are revolutionaries who don't really explain any of their motivations, and the main character is better at what he does than Rambo, but the only training he has had was his father being a high ranking military officer (he never enlisted). So its ridiculous. Ignore it. All this sounds negative, but I gushed pretty effusively in my impressions, so I had to balance it out. I really enjoyed it and I highly recommend. I just wish the trophy list had been less ridiculous. Trophy Progress: 18/40 for an A rank and 31% Personal Grade: B+ Completion %: 75.25% (-.36%) Chance I plat: 01/10; not a chance in hell. There are several trophies that are for various different runs with various requirements. Speed run, speed run on the highest difficulty, speed run with 100%, a run with completion of only 4%, completion with a percentage equivalent to some significant number. Its insane and I guess creative if you want to be generous, but not for me.
