Super gross. Play Chrono Trigger, everyone, but for the love of Time ... do not go near the mobile / Steam version. If you only have a PS3, Vita, or PSP, the horribly slow PSOne Classics version is preferable to it, and really isn’t that bad. Otherwise, you have a little less than a year to buy the SNES version on Wii Virtual Console, the Nintendo DS version is still relatively affordable, and obviously original SNES carts still exist. Heck, emulate it if you’re super cheap and desperate, but don’t give Square Enix any money for their crummy mobile ports. They need to put more effort into preserving their classics, without turning them into blurry pixel blobs covered with ATM UIs.

Chrono Trigger is, in my opinion, the greatest game ever made. A few lousy achievements aren’t worth spoiling soiling what should be a completely magical experience.

Nearly 10 years ago at this point, I doubt it's ever going to happen now.

Actually it was less than 3.5 years ago, just checked.

But it probably means nothing as they rated the PSP version of Dariusburst in 2010, and we had to wait until Chronicle Saviours to play it properly...

You should double check, the first post that spotted the rating was in 2009 on a castlevania blog

I can't believe that the only source is a semi-obscure, now-defunct blog. Every other site reported the 2014 date...

Wow. I thought the PS1 version (on disc, at least - I've never played the classic version) was pretty bad. If the mobile version is worse than that, DEFINITELY do not go near it.

A shame, too - Chrono Trigger is such a great game. I liked some of the ideas of the PS1 version (the EXTRA data, which told you about all of the endings, was pretty neat).

A surprise release is not really a positive thing when talking about legendary tier classics.

Agreed. I mean, this is Chrono Trigger, a game that for many (myself included) invokes the heyday of Squaresoft. Together with Final Fantasy III (VI in Japan), you are talking about two of the single greatest games ever to be released.

So, to celebrate, you just slip it onto the store with no fanfare?

Preach. The SNES days of Squaresoft were the golden age of jrpgs.

The DS version is truly the superior version of Chrono Trigger, and I would recommend it to anyone.
