My method for leveling up was the following:

 

Time Attack -> Frozen Peak - Figure 8.

 

Car: Vauxhall astra 4S, all assists off apart from transmission

 

Focus of this time attack was to keep on drifting the entire track, so the multiplier goes up.

I managed to get up 10 levels within one session.

Dunno if it's the fastest but what I did was do the first championship there was (think it's the fastest one), all assists off and medium (didn't try on hard - wanted to assure 1st place for the 100k). It gives you a nice 300k bonus for winning the whole thing (getting 700k + in total). Gives you at least 5 levels every 2 championships.

 

I'd do the free races but was annoyed by having to go back to menu and load it up again every time, and not having an option to restart the race after the points were given.

Considering loading times I timed how long it would take to reach the event select screen again after leaving it.

Doing the oval level from los angeles, if you win all the time, is 115-120k points/round on a difficulty I can win almost every time. And this take 2,25 minutes with all the loading times. which translates to 5.1-5.3k/minute for each win.

Doing the cup event from the 2nd episode on a more doable difficulty gives me 670-675k points in 13 minutes. Which translates to 5.2k/minute

The option of drifting across the figure 8 in alaska, while I did manage a 7 second drift there, eventually, the 100k points in 13 minutes is not worth it at my skill level. I lost too many points to either cashing in my score at too low a multiplier or altogether by hitting a wall or getting stuck in the tress or otherwise outside the course or upside down.

 

Conclusion: at my skill level doing the cup over and over again is the fastest + least stressful option.
