Popular Post AARCT1C
Australian Trophy League 2018 Questionnaire Hi everyone. As many of you may remember, last year I did a questionnaire to get a bit of feedback for season 2 of our annual event, as well as providing a chance for people to share a bit about themselves and what they enjoyed. Feel free to answer the questions and be as descriptive as you like, these things can help to shape future seasons, such as the implementation of scoring for the Fame/Shame event. I'd like to see everyone participate, but it's entirely up to you. I'll put my answers next to the questions and you can edit mine out and post yours instead in your replies. Even if you only answer a few questions from one section. Always interested to see what you all think. SECTION 1: 1: What is your favourite game that you played and was released in 2018? That's an easy one, the Spyro Trilogy. I will give a special mention to Assassin's Creed: Odyssey and to Far Cry 5 though, only missing out because of the nostalgia Spyro brought me. 2: What is your favourite game that you played and was released before 2018? It's hands down, The Witcher 3. Nothing else came close. Do yourselves a favour, it's one of the most in depth fantasy RPG games I've ever played. 3: What is your favourite PlayStation Plus game of 2018? I didn't play very many PS Plus games this year so instead I'll nominate which I thought was the best game offered to us. My pick is Bloodborne, although God Of War 3 Remastered makes a close second. I'm very keen to play SOMA next month too. 4: What is your proudest Platinum that you earned in 2018? This is a tough one because I did a couple I'm very proud of. I think I'll have to go with Final Fantasy XIV, purely based on the 6 months of preparation it took to put myself in a position to get the platinum within a one month subscription period. 5: Which game do you consider to be the most over rated game that released in 2018? I think I've complained to enough people here that it won't be a surprise. God Of War. 6: Which platinum trophy pushed you the hardest this year? Again, Final Fantasy XIV, for the reason listed above. 7: Which trophy (excluding platinums) was your most frustrating trophy this year? It's The Final Showd0wn (SILVER) in Watch Dogs 2. You have to win 4 consecutive online co-op missions to unlock this trophy. I've been trying infrequently throughout the year to get this one but I kept getting matched up with team mates who were AFK. The method where you quit out to the XMB and re-enter the game method still works to those who are interested. A special mention goes to Chooser Of The Slain (GOLD) in God Of War. That Valkyrie Queen is in a category of her own. Nasty difficult bitch she was. 8: What is your most anticipated PlayStation game for 2019? There's a few. At number one would be Days Gone. I'm also looking forward to Ghosts Of Tsushima and Death Stranding. 9: What is the last game you bought for: PS4: I bought Storm Boy last night. I read the book and watched the movie at school, may as well make the trifecta. PS3: Yakuza 3. I had to get one of the 2 remaining copies on Australia posted from an EB Games store in Queensland. PSV: FullBlast. Gotta love them quick plats! PSVR: I owned a VR system for a grand total of one day this year. It came with VR Worlds, GT Sport and Skyrim VR. After a bit of racing in GT Sport, I felt very ill and had to take it off. I'm thankful for EB's 7 day return policy. 10: What would be your Top 10 recommended games that you've played this year (they must be PlayStation games and they can have been released at any time, as long as you played it in 2018) Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Assassin's Creed: Odyssey Demon's Souls Detroit: Become Human Far Cry 5 Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice No Man's Sky Spyro Trilogy The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Now I would like to move on to some questions about the ATL. I think Season 3 absolutely creamed has been an improvement on Season 1 and 2, especially with getting the results within a day, well done @adam1984123 and I would like to see that continue next year. I have a few quick questions here before we get to the final section. Feel free to elaborate a bit here if you need to, a detailed response is far more helpful to work with than yes or no. As corporate as this sounds, this information really does help to improve the event. SECTION 2: 1: What was your favourite part of the ATL? The atmosphere of the event and the competition that everybody brought to it. Also enjoyed playing co-op with fellow entrants. 2: What was your least favourite part of the ATL? My score multiplier. 3: What is your opinion on the scoring systems for your End Of Month Result? I can't really fault the scoring. There is something there for everyone and @adam1984123 really covered the bases in making sure that everyone had a chance of winning, whether you like to smash out a dozen platinums a week, or take your time notching up the Ultra Rares. I do think that considering there are 3 categories, 2 of which the lower ranked players (on the Australian leaderboard that is) can quite easily dominate, with Fame and Shame and Backlogs. My only gripe with the multiplier is that it can be exploited. Let's say I want to win in 2020. All I have to do to win the monthly category is tank hard in 2019, ensuring that my multiplier in 2020 is adjusted to reflect my poor results. I'm not saying it's a bad scoring system and I can certainly see the logic behind the fairness. I would be interested to see what would happen next year with no multiplier in play perhaps. 4: What is your opinion on the scoring systems for your Bonus Categories? Pretty good actually, I'm glad that my Fame and Shame feature from Season 2 has proven to be popular with people. 5: What is your opinion on the scoring systems for Backlog Games? Backlog should always be a strong scoring category and it is good to see it as a prominent feature, even if I constantly avoid it myself. 6: How do you feel about the Backlog Game setup (10 games across any PlayStation format)? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. 7: How would you want to see the Backlog Game setup run differently (if at all)? See above Thank you everybody for your input and for being a part of the ATL, have a Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year. I look forward to seeing you then. Popular Post Drag-On-Detritus
Hell yeah, this whole thing has been really great. I really enjoyed the banter, thinking about different ways of playing & seeing some really out there & impressive stuff from people here. I wanted to do the long Aussie event for a good year before one was actually free to join & I'm really glad I got to do one. It's a pretty damn good community we've got here I fucken love all of you. Massive thanks and a firm manly handshake to Adam for getting it all together so proficiently & professionally. Thanks to Matt for the completion rate stats, I would never have thought I'd even get to 65%, It's not something I'm all that strict about but it doesn't hurt to apply a bit of self-control & not just start a bunch of games while drunk only to play for an hour & shelve indefinitely. If I can get to 70% completion I reckon that might be the peak. Honestly I really do just want to grab a pile of games off the self, unceremoniously tear the shrink wrap off & have a little go. It's an impulse I fight all the bloody time. Other stats of note, while on the subject of shrink wrap, I did a rough count & I unsealed at least $1200 worth of games during the comp which is nice, because at one point in time I spent that on these things expecting to play & some of them sat there sealed for a year or more. Also taking into account the 3-month Aussie trophy event from late last year I've been eventing for an entire year now & jumped 200 country ranks since then. Pretty wild stuff considering my lax pace, sometimes I think I should change my 'about me' to 'like a turtle'. No idea where to go from here but with milestone #250 coming up I'm thinking about various inconvenient things to potentially immortalise & the most appealing things are definitely a bit of a stuff-around. The no backlog thing, yeah I dunno. With my no-handicap status & the games I chose, it just seemed like a better idea to go for UR's instead, thanks to that my pitiful UR count went into triple digits. It's not something I've really thought about before & a lot of my favourite games are uncommon or rare at best. Anyway it became something of a habit to look stuff up based on rarity so I might try to keep it going once in a while. I would really like to get back to having more uncommon than common trophies again. It's possible but not a trivial thing, hopefully I can work on that slowly, we'll see. I cracked up a bit about winning the random draw, gotta be honest it released some pretty sweet brain chemicals when I saw that. That's four accounts I have funded pretty nicely now & with no pressure to earn a lot of trophies I might just find my way towards the ways of a game enthusiast/occultruist again. Quick monthly summary since I posted a bit about it already. I was aiming to get through my easy-earning backlog & also to get over myself & do some gaming with guides & it was as lame and weak as expected. It might be one of my best months for earning but I dunno, I really see trophy hunting & games enthusiasm as pretty incongruous most of the time & it's a difficult thing to balance. Far as what I played, I'm glad I skipped muv luv alternative 'cause if I'd have gotten to know the characters with that sort of ending it probably would have left me feeling ultra-miserable. Storm Boy made sure I copped a bit of emotion, really sad that ending. AER was something I thought I'd love but it just wasn't up to standard, should have been way better considering how full of animals the world is! I have a package from Germany coming soon with a certain exclusive horseriding game so hopefully that will fill that void. I thought it would be funny & keeping with the theme of what I was doing to go with 2064:ROM for the ultra rare, looks like I wasn't the only one. It was such a damn basic platinum, definitely has to be the already-mentioned scare mongering that put people off. I honestly had more trouble with Va11-ha11a because I made one mistake & had to play through the whole damn game again for just one trophy. Also the shmup game in vallhalla was incredibly piss poor & doesn't deserve to exist. The only way to move slower was with the analogue stick (GOOD shooters have a slow movement speed with a focused shot you hold down the button to do, & fast movement with rapid fire), the hitbox was too damn big & there were no invincibility frames upon getting hit (this is just fucking unbelievable to me). Anyway I don't want to get too negative here, but those 2D shmups are about the only sorta game I've got full blown standards for & I crave professionally made games in that genre. It really gets to me when I play a bad one because I wonder why they bothered & if they even ever looked into what makes that sort of game good. Devs who are serious about it turn out some of the best pure gameplay there is & those who aren't make annoying unpleasant experiences. Anyway I ended up playing that bit on the Vita tv & beat it very quickly soon as that was setup. Vita TV is a bit of an unsung hero imo, I've lost count of the amount of times it's gotten me out of the shit. I'm currently at about 20% thanks to a pretty rough time of it last night so hopefully that's all coherent (relatively speaking). Congrats to the winners & a big cheers to all participants & contributors, currently smashing down a big can of Asahi in honour of it all & definitely wish everyone the best for the often stressful but sometimes blissful holiday season!

Don't worry about me, I am fine. As for the implication by the OP that I took back the $80 well that is a beyond disgusting. I guess if you didn't have the foresight to write down the codes in the months you had them then Sony deserves the free win. As for the charity you are welcome, you would be surprised how many people in this were on the take, although perhaps not.
Popular Post adam1984123
@MattyH16 here are my answers. I won't answer the questions with regards to the comp since I hosted. But I'll post my thoughts on it. SECTION 1: 1: What is your favourite game that you played and was released in 2018? I didn't actually play many games that were released this year. But it would have to be Far Cry 5 for me. But I also really enjoyed Strange Brigade, so that would be a close second. 2: What is your favourite game that you played and was released before 2018? There is a couple, and most are quite old. But the top choice would be Battlefield Bad Company 2. The graphics have aged a bit, but the gameplay has stood the test of time. Honorable mentions go to Saints Row the Third and Metro 2033 Redux. 3: What is your favourite PlayStation Plus game of 2018? I'm still working on it, Trackmania Turbo. Love the challenge - its addictive. 4: What is your proudest Platinum that you earned in 2018? Metro Last Light (PS3). Came back to this years after giving up on it. The reason being, all collectables must be done in one play through as there is no chapter select and years ago I stuffed up 1 of them by accident right near the end and couldn't get back to it. Was nice to go back to this great game and get it done this time. 5: Which game do you consider to be the most over rated game that released in 2018? Burnout Paradise Remastered. A lot of people were so excited for this, but really it felt like a port from PS3 rather than a remaster. 6: Which platinum trophy pushed you the hardest this year? I popped it on the 1st of Jan this year - Resogun on the Vita. I am not really that good at these type of games and that no death run really pushed me lol. 7: Which trophy (excluding platinums) was your most frustrating trophy this year? Riddle Me That from Batman Arkham Knight. The amount of collectables in that game is ridiculous. 8: What is your most anticipated PlayStation game for 2019? Probably the new Metro game. Maybe The Last of Us 2 if that comes out next year. 9: What is the last game you bought for: PS4: I just bought Hitman Gold Edition in the sale this morning. Even though there is no plat, loving it so far. PS3: F1 2012. Going to help someone do the online trophies so thought I may as well just complete it and get another UR plat. PSV: Haven't bought a Vita game. Just have it to play the PS Plus games when I am in bed and cbf watching TV. PSVR: Don't own one. 10: What would be your Top 10 recommended games that you've played this year (they must be PlayStation games and they can have been released at any time, as long as you played it in 2018) Strange Brigade Far Cry 5 Sniper Elite 3 Sniper Elite 4 Mafia III Saints Row the Third Battlefield Bad Company 2 Metro 2033 Redux Battlefield 1 Deadpool Now with regards to the comp itself. I have decided that if the comp continues in 2019, I will not be the host of it. It's not due to doing the scores and getting them posted - the spreadsheet I built has really made that easy and all scores can be collated in about 30 mins tops. Its down to the fact that I'd rather just play for fun and can't be bothered with all the politics and crap that happens on the side with things like this - I knew that would be a part of this when I offered to take it on, I just think 9 months of it is enough for me lol. I've lined up some good games in the coming months to play with some good people I've met through here and I would be happy just to focus on that rather than this thing as well. I would still be happy to be a part of the comp if it is taken over by someone else and would be happy to provide them with my spreadsheet I was using as a template for their own work if they wanted it. Having hosted the comp and looking at its strengths and weaknesses, one thing I would definitely change is the length of time. 9 months is too long and after a few months, people's interest tends to slip if they feel they can't compete as one or a couple of people appear to be dominating - which happened this year even with multipliers in action. I think this thing needs to run in short, sharp bursts - 2 to 3 months tops. Maybe it could be done twice a year to compensate? Hopefully this would curb the amount of drops off, as we had quite a few in the end - and who even knows if Auzziewingman is still alive. That guy hasn't signed into PSN for 4 months. I would also consider, rather than letting anyone and everyone in, that it become more 'private' and entries capped at around 12. People would express interest in joining and then the host selects participants based on who they want in the comp. That way they can pick people who look dedicated and are less likely to drop out or drop off. Pick people who are going to be active in the thread and/or PSN chat group because lets face it, a lot people joined for the ride and we never heard from them for 9 months - which is fine, good luck to them because that's the way this was designed this year. It would be good to have an active group that games together. Some people on this site just join any and every comp and don't even participate in the threads hoping to get a prize or something out of it. With regards to prize money, its great to have a few generous people donate as always. This wouldn't be popular at all I imagine, but I think a $10 entry fee could also be considered in conjunction with my previous point. People are more likely to stay around and be active if their own money is put up at the start. $10 is sent to the host through PayPal and a field of 12 would yield $120 in prize money. $50 for first, $20 for second and $10 for third. 3 x random $10 prize draws (1 per month over 3 months) and 1 x random $10 prize draw at the end of the comp (all PSN cards). Prize money is a nice little motivator and rewards at the end. I mean you don't have to have prizes, but then, why bother really? Just to say you have bigger e-penis? I disagree with what Matt said about people tanking to get a high multiplier for the following year. I don't see why someone would join in 2018 and purposely do crap with the view to get a leg up in 2019 when there is no guarantee that this would even run in 2019 (or 2020 for that matter). People here are gamers/trophy hunters after all and I doubt they would forego gaming in 2018 so they might win a measly $100 of PSN cards in 2019... The trophy multiplier is only 33% of the score that can be earned anyway so if someone were to list all UR backlogs and pop them and them only each month, they are more than likely to win against someone who smashes out 50 plats for the month. The only reason Demon dominated this year the way he did, was he was able to get URs, UR backlogs and volume all at the same time - pretty amazing effort. And Patrick did well with a strong multiplier, but what he also did well was pop UR plats to get himself fame points nearly every month. Guys like Nitro popped tons of volume but didn't do hardly any backlogs and not many UR rares for fame - thats where he lost out. Then you have guys like Crestfallen who pretty much kept his volume consistent but was able to stay on the podium by completing backlogs and the occasional UR points in fame. So if Demon and Patrick didn't do what they did, Crestfallen could have won just gaming as per his normal pace - which was the whole idea of this system. To give everyone a chance at gaming at their own pace. Its just that a couple far exceeded their normal play style from the previous year. I am not trying to defend the multiplier system, even though it probably sounds like I am, but I think its the fairest way for everyone to compete together. And like I said, it only makes up 1/3 of your potential total for the month. So if you are blaming your poor performance on the multiplier (not directed at anyone), have a look at how many backlogs you completed and how many fame points you earned for the year. I bet a majority of those that are feeling disappointed missed a stack of points here. I think the backlog and fame/shame categories are good and the scoring for them is fine. Obviously if the length of the comp was to be reduced the backlog count would have to be to. Anyway, that's just my observations from hosting and where I think things could be changed to maybe make this better; although I doubt those points would be popular with many. But its no exact science designed a fair and equitable system in this kind of environment. So all the best to everyone and to the person (if anybody) that decides to take this over for next year.
Popular Post Feral
@MattyH16 with all the hard questions lol. SECTION 1: 1: What is your favourite game that you played and was released in 2018? Red Dead Redemption II which is a huge surprise since I hated RDR1. But the game is just a masterpiece. Only game that's ever made me want to spew in one part and have a slight teary in another, it's just epic. 2: What is your favourite game that you played and was released before 2018? The Witcher III, it's just in a league of it's own. 3: What is your favourite PlayStation Plus game of 2018? Don't think I've played any Plus game this year. 4: What is your proudest Platinum that you earned in 2018? Far Cry 3. 5: Which game do you consider to be the most overrated game that released in 2018? I'd say God of War but that would be a bit rich since I've never played it and hate the series. So nothing. 6: Which platinum trophy pushed you the hardest this year? None. 7: Which trophy (excluding platinums) was your most frustrating trophy this year? Nothing really sticks out so yeah. 8: What is your most anticipated PlayStation game for 2019? Pretty keen for Metro Exodus. 9: What is the last game you bought for: PS4: Fallout 76 PS3: The Testament of Sherlock Holmes (last year). PSV: Haven't bought anything for it in years. PSVR: Nothing. 10: What would be your Top 10 recommended games that you've played this year (they must be PlayStation games and they can have been released at any time, as long as you played it in 2018) Red Dead Redemption II Assassin's Creed Odyssey Marvel's Spider-Man Shadow of the Tomb Raider Rise of the Tomb Raider Detroit Become Human Dishonoured 2 Bioshock The Witcher III: Wild Hunt Fallout 4 SECTION 2: I don't really have an opinion of any questions in this section so nothing to say.
Popular Post CrestfallenAU
SECTION 1: 1: What is your favourite game that you played and was released in 2018? I didn't play any games this year that released in 2018. I did buy God of War in the Black Friday sales and I do intend to play it this month so I guess that'll be it by default. 2: What is your favourite game that you played and was released before 2018? Dragon's Dogma. It took a long time and ran poorly on PS3, but its gameplay was really enjoyable. 3: What is your favourite PlayStation Plus game of 2018? Of the ones I hadn't played before they came to Plus, I'd say The Book of Unwritten Tales 2. Bloodborne or Yakuza Kiwami are the most appealing ones that I've yet to play. Ratchet & Clank and Rayman Legends are good too, but I had played both before they came to Plus. 4: What is your proudest Platinum that you earned in 2018? Probably a tie between Final Fantasy XIII and Legend of Kay Anniversary. FF13 is pretty easy except for one side mission, but it's also more involved to ensure you don't miss one trophy and it ended up being longer than I anticipated. Legend of Kay gets a mention because its nightmare difficulty actually put up a good challenge. 5: Which game do you consider to be the most over rated game that released in 2018? I haven't played any games that released this year. 6: Which platinum trophy pushed you the hardest this year? I don't think any really pushed me. I pushed myself with Final Fantasy XIII trying to beat Demon to completing every backlog nomination, but the game itself wasn't all that difficult. I think Legend of Kay Anniversary's nightmare difficulty was more challenging because you could only take a couple of hits and there were several segments with numerous long fights between checkpoints. 7: Which trophy (excluding platinums) was your most frustrating trophy this year? Knack's Crystal Relic Master was annoying simply because it took hours of just farming the same few chests over and over to get the 10 diamonds needed in between all the useless duplicates. LittleBigPlanet Karting's Online Champ was frustrating too because the servers were unstable and Adam and I constantly lost connection to each other. 8: What is your most anticipated PlayStation game for 2019? For exclusives, Ghost of Tsushima. I've enjoyed every single game Sucker Punch has ever released and from what I've seen I expect that to be the same for Ghost of Tsushima. For multi-plats, Metro Exodus and Resident Evil 2 would be the top two. 9: What is the last game you bought for: PS4: God of War physically. Coffin Dodgers, Hitman Go & Lara Croft Go digitally. PS3: LittleBigPlanet 2. It's the latest of many pre-owned games I've picked up for $5 from EB's sale clearing their old PS3, 360, Wii and Wii U stock. PSV: Hitman Go & Lara Croft Go. I haven't bought many Vita games since 2016 for some reason. PSVR: I don't own a PSVR. 10: What would be your Top 10 recommended games that you've played this year (they must be PlayStation games and they can have been released at any time, as long as you played it in 2018) Dragon's Dogma Darksiders II Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD Rayman Legends Tales of Xillia Metro: Last Light Redux Hitman Go God of War III Knack Hitman: Absolution SECTION 2: 1: What was your favourite part of the ATL? Definitely the atmosphere and joining in some co-op/boosting sessions to knock out online trophies. 2: What was your least favourite part of the ATL? 3: What is your opinion on the scoring systems for your End Of Month Result? 4: What is your opinion on the scoring systems for your Bonus Categories? 5: What is your opinion on the scoring systems for Backlog Games? 6: How do you feel about the Backlog Game setup (10 games across any PlayStation format)? I like the backlog system as is. 7: How would you want to see the Backlog Game setup run differently (if at all)? Popular Post Gibbo_0113
Thanks for running the comp @adam1984123 Congrats to @Demon--Prototype @patrickogorman19 and Especially to @CrestfallenV for knocking me out of third place . Way to sucked in by Red Dead Redemption to score any points. To those that haven't played it, what the hell you better get onto that, your missing out. Really hope the comp continues in one way or the other. The comps in the style of the Aussie Trophy league and the C2 league before it (except season 2 ) have been my favourite types. We would have to get my boy @EpicNogg4 back though. @MattyH16 you seem like the best candidate to take over. Think i remember you saying you were thinking about it? Either way we'll keep the PSN chat going. Posted on there more than i did here. Will write up my answers to the questions later or tomorrow
Popular Post spazza136
1: What is your favourite game that you played and was released in 2018? God of War, really enjoyed the new playstyle and the amount of places/things you could do and the “lore” that was involved. 2: What is your favourite game that you played and was released before 2018? Sleeping Dogs, I think it was the (third?) time I platinumed it. Never get sick of going through it. 3: What is your favourite PlayStation Plus game of 2018? Don’t think I played any plus games this year but I’ll go with Bulletstorm because it’s the only game I had wanted that I didn’t already buy myself. 4: What is your proudest Platinum that you earned in 2018? Farcry 5, decent single player story. Multiplayer was average and took longer to complete than it should have but overall was a good game. 5: Which game do you consider to be the most over rated game that released in 2018? Haven’t really played many of this years games, I knew from the get-go that Fallout 76 was going to be a terrible “mmo” type game that was not what Fallout is about at all and was a cash grab at most; I don’t plan on playing it unless it’s super cheap or becomes free. 6: Which platinum trophy pushed you the hardest this year? Not really “pushed” me but getting the Fallout Shelter platinum took a while for me to get and I actually spent a bit of money on micros trying to get it which is unusual for me to do. 7: Which trophy (excluding platinums) was your most frustrating trophy this year? Getting wins in FC5 multiplayer, always managed to get put on a losing team even if I was playing fairly well, took way too long to get 10 wins or whatever number it was. 8: What is your most anticipated PlayStation game for 2019? Either Days Gone because it looks good, Rage 2 because I enjoyed the first one; or Tropico 6 because I really enjoyed T5. 9: What is the last game you bought for: PS4: The Council Season Pass PS3: No idea, probably one of the backlog games I didn’t play PSV: Same as PS3 PSVR: Superhot I think 10: What would be your Top 10 recommended games that you've played this year (they must be PlayStation games and they can have been released at any time, as long as you played it in 2018) God of War Red Dead Redemption 2 Sleeping Dogs Farcry 5 Dead Rising 4 Zombie Army Trilogy SECTION 2: 1: What was your favourite part of the ATL? Bit of multiplayer here and there with a few of you guys, also getting to read some of the friendly banter. 2: What was your least favourite part of the ATL? Like all comps I’ve been in or seen there can be a bit of drama and childish behaviour from some people, part of the reason I’ve been fairly inactive was because I got sick of it. 3: What is your opinion on the scoring systems for your End Of Month Result? The scoring was a bit odd to me, I myself kind of preferred a more simpler raw trophy counting approach instead of multipliers and other variables. 4: What is your opinion on the scoring systems for your Bonus Categories? Same as above 5: What is your opinion on the scoring systems for Backlog Games? Same as above 6: How do you feel about the Backlog Game setup (10 games across any PlayStation format)? Backlog system was fine.
Popular Post damage_6-9
Firstly, congrats to @Demon--Prototype, @patrickogorman19 & @CrestfallenV for taking out the comp. Very nicely done Secondly, big shoutout & massive congrats to @adam1984123 for running the show, +10,000 REP to you for your efforts Also massive thanks to the rest of you for the banter both here & in the chat. For encouraging & motivating me to produce my best year ever in terms of trophy numbers.... will be very happy if I can achieve even half as much in the future. Although I am still stunned by the numbers quite a few of you pulled out on a regular basis. Sincerely hope that this will continue in some form next year ps. @MattyH16 I promise I will actually do the survey this year, lol
Drag-On-Detritus
The survey was posted while I was posting yesterday but I'm back with answers: SECTION 1: 1: What is your favourite game that you played and was released in 2018? I only played a few games that were actually released this year, the 3 I really enjoyed a lot that were also very substantial games were Yakuza 6, FarCry 5 & Yakuza Kiwami 2. They were all same shit different smell spec but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. At the start of the year 'Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human' made a strong impression as well but I never went through the tedium of going for the last few trophies. 2: What is your favourite game that you played and was released before 2018? Eagle Flight for sure! I would almost say Castlevania Requiem but I'd played those games so many times already. 3: What is your favourite PlayStation Plus game of 2018? Probably 99 Vidas. There is a fundamental flaw in the boss design that makes it incredibly drawn out & boring on that highest difficulty & it's got one of my most despised 'features' with co-op where the game gets harder & may as well just play solo. I'm pretty sick of games that punish me for playing with my gf or mates who don't necessarily go mental at games like I do. Solo though, I really did enjoy it. 4: What is your proudest Platinum that you earned in 2018? Eagle Flight, thousands of owners, less than 50 platinum earners & no prior Aussies that did it. 5: Which game do you consider to be the most over rated game that released in 2018? I'm not sure I payed enough attention to speak without ignorance on this. Any game with stiff and non fluid character movement with a large budget that also gets good review scores is 90% of the time overrated though IMO. 6: Which platinum trophy pushed you the hardest this year? Early on in the year I found the Gun Gun Pixies trophy set absolutely agonising to slog though. So many unnecessary full playthroughs with cutscenes that can't be skipped because those fuckwits didn't program system data saving. I can't believe once upon a time a company named Quintet released the best ARPG ever made (Terranigma) only to eventually squander their talent & morph into Shade to make Mech & Perv games. What a fall from grace. Hopefully in future I can get the other 3 Shade titles on Vita done for the set. People are always welcome to hit me up for the Gun Gun Pixies guide I made btw. 7: Which trophy (excluding platinums) was your most frustrating trophy this year? There's this one trophy in Sengoku Otome Legend Battle on Vita that makes you do one of the most unfair boss fights I've ever seen. I had to replay that so many times to be able to come up with a sound strategy & actually execute it. I did it though & still need to do a bit of grinding for the platinum, but the hardest trophy in the set is done at least. 8: What is your most anticipated PlayStation game for 2019? M2 Shot Triggers: Esprade. First time this has ever been ported to a home system & TBH I have no idea what else is coming out next year. 9: What is the last game you bought for: PS4: M2 shot triggers: Ketsui Deathtiny & Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 4 (aka Disaster Report). I paid those off the other day they'll be here on Monday PS3: Hard to remember, I think it might have been Man vs Wild for retail & I grabbed a bunch of 2D fighters I already own in digital sales to self-boost. PSV: Sayonara Umiharakawase++ physical version which is kind of a waste because I have the Japanese version boxed but this series is special to me. PSVR: Rick & Morty in the sale for $16 or something. Before that I got Kowloons Gate VR on sale from the HK store, it's in English & it's pretty damn cool! 10: What would be your Top 10 recommended games that you've played this year (they must be PlayStation games and they can have been released at any time, as long as you played it in 2018) Blah blah Japanese & Indies etc. Do something that goes outside your comfort zone or something you haven't much experience with and you might find a new thing you like (or remain a recalcitrant fucker that's gonna get left in a nursing home later on in life because your family can't stand your shit attitude). SECTION 2: 1: What was your favourite part of the ATL? Some great banter going on from time to time, thinking of different approaches to getting points, winging it almost every month and still scoring something. 2: What was your least favourite part of the ATL? My score multiplier... nah j/k, probably the arguments I'd have with my gf 'cause I'm thinking about or playing games too much. She often had a point but damn. 3: What is your opinion on the scoring systems for your End Of Month Result? No complaints with that but maybe some kind of cap on handicaps would be alright. I dunno if it would really make that much difference though. 4: What is your opinion on the scoring systems for your Bonus Categories? I really liked fame & shame, that's the one I paid the most attention to. Some absolutely mental games were done by members here & it was really cool to see that. Not sure that's actually an answer the the actual question though. It's definitely a good idea to have a few ways to score. 5: What is your opinion on the scoring systems for Backlog Games? 6: How do you feel about the Backlog Game setup (10 games across any PlayStation format)? 7: How would you want to see the Backlog Game setup run differently (if at all)? I opted out of backlog this year, I just wanted to follow with what I thought was the tradition. I've mentioned this before but I'd like an alternate opt-in system where, rather than pick the games beforehand I could just exhume something already on my list & get bonus points based on the amount of years in the timestamp (so a 10 year one that would top the leaderboard for the month would be worth 35 points for example, or 60 if it was an UR). Can I just get confirmation we'll be doing that & I'll start prepping Street Fighter IV now my Sanwa stick is back in action. I'm sure we'll get a future event going, I'd say 'don't make me do it' but yeah if anyone has plans in the future I'm happy to help however I can, banners, rhetoric/writeups, could dig through my collection for an actual good unique prize, do some of the scoring etc. Don't get me wrong I'm looking forward to playing free and easy for a bit but I sincerely hope we can come together again. It's been great fun! Edited December 2, 2018 by readytofuky
Popular Post fisty123
SECTION 1: 1: What is your favourite game that you played and was released in 2018? Dragon Quest XI, Minus one post game story decision this was an amazing game. 2: What is your favourite game that you played and was released before 2018? Persona 5, it's just that a good of a game......even if I still think the story of P4 was better 3: What is your favourite PlayStation Plus game of 2018? No idea, I only have playstation plus for the access to online trophies and sometimes getting a discount on new games on the PSN store. 4: What is your proudest Platinum that you earned in 2018? I will have to say Dark Rose Valkyrie I guess. 5: Which game do you consider to be the most over rated game that released in 2018? RDR2, Sure it looks stunning and has a lot of features but beyond this few day thrill it's just borning 6: Which platinum trophy pushed you the hardest this year? The Caligula Effect (Vita), that grind was painful 7: Which trophy (excluding platinums) was your most frustrating trophy this year? The Caligula Effect - True Fanatic for the same reason, it was just painful. 8: What is your most anticipated PlayStation game for 2019? Kingdom Heart III would be up close to the top of the list, As wolud be God Eater III and Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland but the winner would be Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition been waiting for a Sony English release of this one for sometime now. 9: What is the last game you bought for: PS4: Marenian Tavern Story PS3: I don't remember but it might have been one of the quick plat games I did or did not get around to starting for PT.org THL PSV: Antiquia Lost (Limited Run Games Edition) - It just came in the mail so I guess this one, but I just paid for Sayonara Umiharakawase++ as well. PSVR: Beat Saber 10: What would be your Top 10 recommended games that you've played this year (they must be PlayStation games and they can have been released at any time, as long as you played it in 2018) 1. Dragon Quest XI 2. Persona 5 3. Tokyo Xanadu 4. Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online 5. Megadimension Neptunia VII 6. Shining Resonance Refrain 7. Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth 8. Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization 9. Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky 10. Dark Rose Valkyrie SECTION 2: 1: What was your favourite part of the ATL? Being Involved in the banter and general chats on here and on PS Messenger 2: What was your least favourite part of the ATL? My score multiplier and the backlog scoring system. 3: What is your opinion on the scoring systems for your End Of Month Result? I can't fault it as it gives other a chance to be involved so people don't die out as easy so it works well to that point.4: What is your opinion on the scoring systems for your Bonus Categories? I liked the the bonuses makes it more fun. 5: What is your opinion on the scoring systems for Backlog Games? This was my biggest issue on the scoring system, Backlog should be a set amount of points for each title going on how rare plat is, like it was in previous years not linked into an avg score for the month. If I do two backlog titles in a month then I want too lots of extra points added. 6: How do you feel about the Backlog Game setup (10 games across any PlayStation format)? Called "Backlog" for a reason the older a game means its been on the backlog longer so yep all consoles should be active 7: How would you want to see the Backlog Game setup run differently (if at all)? Back to old Wayne style point system for this one as pointed out above. Edited December 2, 2018 by fisty123

Very enjoyable RPG with really good story and gameplay. 3: What is your favourite PlayStation Plus game of 2018? Yakuza Kiwami. I have heard about the Yakuza series previously and been quite interested ever since. Decide to start with this one and it is a good game. 4: What is your proudest Platinum that you earned in 2018? Star Ocean 4. I got addicted to this game and played for quite a while. 5: Which game do you consider to be the most over rated game that released in 2018? Probably Battlefield V. 6: Which platinum trophy pushed you the hardest this year? Star Ocean 4 on all the battle trophies. 7: Which trophy (excluding platinums) was your most frustrating trophy this year? The recent Yakuza Kiwami post game content minigames. PS3: Record of the Agarest War PSV: World of Final Fantasy PSVR: None 10: What would be your Top 10 recommended games that you've played this year (they must be PlayStation games and they can have been released at any time, as long as you played it in 2018) The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Tales of Hearts R Yakuza Kiwami Grand Kingdom Star Ocean 4 Star Ocean 3 Star Ocean 5 A King's Tale FFXV Sorcery Saga SECTION 2: I don't have an opinion in this section. AARCT1C
Hey everyone, New Year is fast approaching here in the west of Oz, however I know those of you living in the future have already had a taste of 2019. I'm probably going to finish out 2018 watching some Netflix or something. Wishing you all a safe and happy 2019. Hopefully we'll see each other soon for a new event.
