Popular Post SuperSaiyan3985
I'm interested in hearing the opinions of the community on how you guys feel about having a gamed fully completed, versus just Platinumed. This topic arose to me because after watching a certain YouTuber who won't be named, he spoke vocally about how meaningless the Platinum is in comparison with the 100%. As a trophy hunter, the bare minimum I go for in a game is Platinum, and I do try my best to get the 100%. However, most of the time you have to pay loads of money for DLC you may not even want, grind countless hours for no reason, and do other pointless things just to get the meter to that 100% mark. That's why I feel the 100% shouldn't be necessary. The important thing is that you get Platinum, and anything beyond that is a bonus. Let me know what you think.
BEANO_BRFC
Most games that have DLC trophies i just have the platinum for, some just arent worth the money for the content it offers. Ive bought a few in the past mainly to 100% games i really enjoyed. Bulletstorm on PS3 i got the DLC but didnt really offer much but i got it coz i really liked the game, i did the same with Angry Birds Trilogy on PS3. Usually i dont bother coz most arent worth it. The best DLC out there for me is The Following for Dying Light, that is how DLC is done right.
Popular Post madbuk
100%. A platinum to me is just another trophy, meaningless without the 100% to go along with it
starcrunch061
Someone spoke of the lack of meaning for a plat, without a 100%? I mean, I get completionists and all, but it seems odd that the trophies which are available to everyone who purchase a game take a backseat to the trophies which are bought after the fact. As for me, I've completed some games, and not others. It really depends on my enjoyment of the game (and whether the DLC is on deep discount).
Popular Post Kristycism
I think it's just a personal thing, and calling one meaningless over the other is just close-minded. To some people, like yourself, getting the Platinum means the game is complete, and you can move on - and that's totally fine. To others it's only complete when the bar says 100%, which is fine if that's how they want to spend their time. And to others again, they don't need (or care about) either and want to play until the story is complete and then will happily drop the game whether they have the Plat/100% or not, which again is also totally fine. I personally like seeing everything at 100%, because I'm a completionist and I can't help myself. I'll happily buy DLC/grind for hours/do pointless things to get me to that 100% line, because that's what I, personally, like to do. But I can understand why other people wouldn't want to do that, and I wouldn't judge someone even if they had zero games at 100% (although I must admit, I do kinda judge when they have an average rating of E or F, but that's like "why waste your money on so many games and not even play them?). It could be because of the DLC cost, or the avoidance of grinding, or because they just don't care/don't want to, there's no need for anyone to explain why they don't want to. And it's certainly not my (or anyone else's) place to judge them for it, positively or negatively. People can play/plat/complete games how they personally want to, based on their own preference and when they personally think is a good time to put the game down. Also my preference for completion at 100% may change when I play more games, and getting the 100% feels like more effort than it's worth, who knows.

Just a guy with too much money/freetime who gets a boner if he has more digital medals than others. But on the topic: I go for 100% if I want to play the DLC. I never go for 100% for the sake of having 100% Edited March 9, 2018 by Swifty-Joker
itachi-destroyer
I don't think one is obviously better than the other, it's just personal preference and if someone is willing to play the game beyond the platinum. As far as I'm concerned, when I obtain a Platinum, I go for the 100% because if I spent enough time on the game to obtain the Platinum it's because I liked the game so why not go for the 100% ? If the additional trophies are "free" it's better but I don't mind buying DLC when I like a game, but if the DLC costs too much I usually wait for a sale. However, even if some games didn't have new trophies with their DLC I would still buy the DLCs just because I loved the game. The Witcher 3 would be a perfect example in this case considering how awesome the dlc are for this game. So I guess it's more me wanting to do everything a game as to offer rather than just obtaining new virtual trophies.

Popular Post Beyondthegrave07
When you look at someone's profile, do you look at their 100% count, or you look at their platinum count? Personally, I look at the plats. Edited March 9, 2018 by Beyondthegrave07

palmersib
I don't normally get DLC when it comes to games so it's not very often I get a platinum for a game or 100% on a game whether is has a platinum or not but of the games I have got 100% on some of them do have platinum trophies & some of them don't either. As much as I like playing games that have no platinum & as nice as it is to get 100% on those games for me it never feels the same compared to getting 100% on a game & getting the platinum at the end. I'm not saying games with no platinum is a bad thing & I'm not gonna stop playing those games as there can be good games without certain trophies but for me the platinum give me something else to try & work towards & is something for me show that I've gone through all that effort to get that particular trophy. Gommes_
Platinums are way more important to me but I have to say that in the last ime I try to complete a game to 100% too. But only if the dlcs are on discount and if I don't hate the game

Lazmanci
Personally I'm torn. I prefer to platinum a game, but as someone who grew up with collectathons I NEED that 100%. While I'd like to have 100% on all of my games it's like @BEANO_BRFC said most of the time the DLC is just not worth it.

Karnacharya
I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my trophy collection, so it's 100% for me all the way. A Platinum is nice and all, but I don't see the game as 'complete' when there is still content left to experience. That said though, Platinum trophies are achievements in their own right, and I think that walking away from a game once you've gotten the Platinum (or even before) is totally cool.

A Platinum shows that you've mastered the base game's trophy list and that's all that matters. If you buy DLC JUST to get the trophies you're falling into their trap of spending money for no reason.
