Popular Post BlazzingWind
Intro: Hi all and welcome to my attempt to have a workable trophy list. I've been playing games since I was eleven, when my cousin gave me his old Playstation along with a copy of Final Fantasy VII and I have been hooked every since. My gaming preference is RPG's, platformers, and point-and-click adventures, however that is not set in stone and I do branch out at times. Being a twenty something with a variable work schedule does not give me as much time for gaming as I used to have so I mostly squeeze in my gaming late at night while my fiance sleeps. Purpose: This checklist is to serve as a reminder of games completed and to push me to add and update my playlist on a regular basis. Here I will review the games I have just beaten, and talk about upcoming releases. 001 - 025 Spoiler inFAMOUS 01/24/2011 inFAMOUS Platinum Trophy My first game on the PS3 and my first time dealing with a sandbox type game with a morality system. I really enjoyed the combat and abilities, but the random glitches, and unfair difficulty spike for the final boss on both Normal and Hard made the experience sour somewhat. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands 01/26/2011 Sand Master I really enjoyed the Prince of Persia games on the PS2 and was eager to get this game. The gameplay was a shock with the addition of elemental powers over the standard time powers that the Prince was usually given. That combined with clunky controls and an agonizingly slow moving Prince, it was a test of patience more so than a fun experience. LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 01/02/2011 True Wizard First stab at a LEGO game and it’s a quick and fun little adventure. It doesn’t hurt that Harry Potter is one of my favorite book series so this was a nice trip through a ‘known’ story. BioShock 03/17/2011 PLATINUM TROPHY Another first, this time for a survival horror/fps game that (at least for me), lived up to expectations. I got dared to play this game by a friend, and I am glad that I did. The atmosphere of the game, the design, and the silent story in the background just worked for me. The game was a challenge from beginning to end and recommend anyone to take a trip through Rapture. Darksiders 03/20/2011 BFA This was a game that felt like a mash-up between God of War and Legend of Zelda. While short and to the point, there was definitely the feeling that something was missing from the story. A nice short game to play through, just imagine each time War receives an item the opening chest theme from Legend of Zelda plays. Dragon Age: Origins 04/06/2011 The Ultimate Reward A strangely satisfying game that was pretty fun to play despite the clunky graphics. Being able to choose your characters race and origin was fun at first, but having to play through all scenarios for a trophy was a definite pain. God of War 04/15/2011 Trophy of Zeus I was beyond happy when this collection was announced for the PS3. Being able to play through the game again was great, the mindless bloodshed and just fun of the game really makes the experience. Playing through the challenges for the first time without breaking my controller was another story entirely. Heavy Rain 04/21/2011 HEAVY RAIN Master For the first ‘choice and consequence’ game that I played, it was a departure from my usual fair. Not the most exciting or interesting story, followed a guide to get all the endings as quick as possible and it still felt like it took too long. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time 04/25/2011 Prince of Persia Being able to play one of my favorite games on the PS3 again was an amazing experience, almost exactly like I remembered on the PS2. The controls took some re-getting used to, but after that, it was smooth sailing to the platinum. Prince of Persia: Warrior Within 05/11/2011 Warrior Within With the first game being one of my favorites of the PS2, this is close to being one of my most hated. The gameplay is smoother on the fighting scenes but the entire battle system and upgrades got a complete overhaul that turned me off on my PS2 gaming days. Getting through the game on the PS3 was a personal victory for me as the glitchy camera on a certain escape scene in the mask chamber was aggravating to no end. Portal 2 05/19/2011 Portal 2 Platinum Trophy This was a game that I got pushed into playing thanks to one of my friends and I am extremely glad that I got the chance to play this. Even with a light storyline, GLaDos was a pleasure to try and destroy. Play this game if you enjoy interesting and fun puzzles. LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Videogame 05/23/2011 All hands on deck! After the intensive stories of the previous games, I took a little time to dive back into a known storyline with a LEGO game. The puzzles are even easier than the Harry Potter game but it was still the same collect-a-thon just with the pirate characters instead of wizards. LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars 05/25/2011 The Chosen One This is hands down, the most boring LEGO game that I have played. It was a chore to get through everything, especially winning the battle missions for each faction. Surprisingly, this is the first LEGO game where the collect-a-thon mentality just wouldn’t hold. Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones 05/26/2011 Two Thrones The last of the original trilogy and the only game in the collection that I both love it, and hate it in equal measures. On the one hand, it closes out the trilogy nicely and the addition of the Dark Prince was an interesting change. But at the same time, the new battle system was annoying; along with it feeling that some of the Prince’s actions don’t mesh with the growth of his character over the past two games. Beyond that, the trophy for getting through the game without dying can go die in a fire. Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection 06/17/2011 Platinuminary This was an incredibly fun game to play. Being able to go back through some of the best (and worst) games of the Genesis was a treat. The trophies felt evenly balanced between difficult and hard. Though the trophy Yatta! was entirely too luck based. inFAMOUS 2 07/05/2011 inFAMOUS 2 Platinum Trophy Pre-ordered this game as soon as I heard it was coming out, and thankfully, I was not disappointed. The gameplay was faster, powers were better and more interesting, and the storyline kept me engaged. Of course it’s not all good. I disagree with the addition of online gameplay for challenges, and the morality system had an unexpected ‘twist’ at the end of the game. And I say unexpected because it felt unbelievable and flat which really brought down the overall feel of the game. Still would highly recommend playing if you get the chance. Final Fantasy XIII 07/12/2011 Ultimate Hero Being a Final Fantasy fan, I was excited to play this game but quickly lost interest on my first time through. It took a bit, but after buying the game myself, I was able to slowly get through it. The game is beautiful, there’s no denying that. But the game is also only a series of long hallways for the first large chunk of gameplay. This is an odd design choice and goes against most of what makes Final Fantasy games so fun. To make matters worse, the characters were some of the most annoying people I’ve had the displeasure of meeting. It’s a tie between who was more gag worthy, Snow or Hope. Catherine 08/22/2011 Cheers To You! Another game I can thank a friend for introducing me to. The gameplay is solid, not to difficult that one can’t grasp it, but also, just difficult enough that one can’t just waltz through the levels. The morality choices here are a bit different with the choices affecting the characters Neutrality, Chaotic, and Good levels. The game works as a tower climb puzzle so there is time limit for each level which makes for a stressful experience but there’s also an immense feeling of victory with each level complete. This is a must play, don’t question it, just try it. God of War II 08/25/2011 Trophy of Gaia The second game brings an even madder and blood thirsty Kratos to the table. Graphics, gameplay, and storyline are all kicked up a notch and the same mindless fun is the same as always. It was a blast to play through on the PS2 and stepping back into the blood-soaked sandals of Kratos never gets old. The mechanics of the game got a little more complicated but that just made the combat even more enjoyable. The challenges this time were easier but that could just be because I was more familiar with the controls. The final challenge with the Rock Titan though is just unfair. God of War III 08/30/2011 King of the Hill First and foremost, the graphics are amazing in this game. Kratos has reached the end of his quest and his lust for revenge and blood of those that wronged him burns brighter than ever. With even deadlier moves and gods dying by Kratos’ hands, this game is just amazing. It was a satisfying end to this bloody trilogy and the story is tied up nicely, though the ending cinematic points to a potential that I am eager to see fulfilled. As with the other games, there is a challenge mode to this game, but unlike them, this challenge mode was definitely easier. Alice: Madness Returns 09/06/2011 Platinum For All Other Trophies There’s not much I can say about this game, I got talked into buying it by a friend and regretted my decision. Graphics made the game feel dated, storyline is confusing, and the gameplay just felt lax. Stay far far away from this game. God of War: Chains of Olympus 09/14/2011 Above and Beyond While I attempted to play this game on the PSP when it originally came out, I never beat it. Fresh from finishing the third game, I felt the need to jump into this collection and finally see where this game fits in the main storyline. While it has been remastered with improved graphics, it is still obviously a port from a game system with a smaller screen. The overall feel of the game is underwhelming after playing through the main three games. This game is fun-ish to play through but feels too short as well and the events of the game don’t seem to have that big of an impact on the main story or tie-in as fittingly as it should. Following the tradition of the other games, this one also has a challenge mode, though this is the second easiest in the series. God of War: Ghost of Sparta 09/15/2011 The Ghost with the Most Started this game immediately after finishing the other and the difference between the two games is striking. Perhaps it is the fact that I never played this game on the PSP but the game felt more dynamic than its predecessor, the combat closer in feel to God of War II. While the storyline is lacking, the combat more than makes up for it, even with the scenery feeling pretty bland. The challenge rooms here are a nicer mix of difficulty than the last one, but still nothing really challenging. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune 09/23/2011 Platinum Tried this game on a whim and fell in love with the characters and the story. I loved Naughty Dog for Crash Bandicoot and it was awesome to find another game that I could really sink my teeth into. The character’s felt real and dynamic with backstories that I wanted to know more about. The controls were responsive and battle was varied enough to not get stale. Crushing mode had a few places that were just unfair, but overall this is a platinum that I am proud of. Batman: Arkham Asylum 09/29/2011 Platinum Trophy This game was the first that forced me to walk away only to return to it at a later time. The gameplay is spot on in this game, each move feels responsive, and seeing Batman flying across the screen from one baddie to the next is beyond satisfying. But that is also what makes any mistakes and failures strongly rest on the player. This is most evident in the Combat Challenges. While the main game is forgiving and, even on Hard mode, pretty easy to get through. The challenges are where the real work for the platinum comes into play, namely, Shock and Awe Extreme. These challenges force the player to completely learn the flow of combat inside out. Something that proved impossible at first, it wasn’t until I took a nine month break, that I was able to try the game again and finally snag this sweet platinum. 026 - 050 Spoiler ICO 10/06/2011 Enlightenment I missed playing this game on the PS2 and rectified that by playing it now. It is a quick and simple game, even with a speed-run trophy thrown in there. The game does show its age in terms of graphics but it is still an interesting trip back to the PS2 era. Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions 10/19/2011 Does whatever a spider can! In the vein of super hero games but without the difficulty of Batman, it is a short, but fun game that takes place across four different dimensions and four different versions of Spider-Man. The only problem I had with the game was two-fold; the bosses were cheap as all heck on Hard mode, and Spider-Man Noir was painful to play as. CSI: Fatal Conspiracy 01/07/2012 Completist My second point-and-click adventure to date and one of the most boring I’ve played. This game is just…bad. There’s no other way to describe it, do yourself a favor and forget it exists. Batman: Arkham City 01/29/2012 Platinum After the struggle with Asylum, I was ready for a grueling challenge. But I was pleasantly surprised to see that with the first game forcing me to learn all the mechanics of gameplay, this game nicely built on the first game, and as such I was able to progress without much difficulty when it came to fighting. The storyline is kinda all over the place here as compared to the Asylum, but that doesn’t make it any less satisfying to play. There are more sidequests and an additional mode to the challenges beyond the combat, called Campaigns. The predator challenges were the true difficulty of these campaigns and without a guide, I would have been stuck for a good while. Just like Asylum, I highly recommend this game and perhaps the only time I will recommend the DLC for game. Final Fantasy XIII-2 02/27/2012 Master of Time When compared to Final Fantasy XIII this game improves on almost everything while still giving subpar characters and a convoluted storyline. Focusing on playability and graphics, this game is far superior to its predecessor. The leveling is easier and there is less of a grind. Sarah is a better protagonist than Lightning, but she had an almost forced naivety about her that is beyond annoying. They went from a large party down to two main characters with a third spot reserved for monsters you can befriend but have no control over in battle. This game is definitely a mish-mash of ideas, some that work, and others (most of them) that fall flat. But I would recommend playing this game over the first one all the same. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 03/16/2012 100% Complete This game is broken on so many levels. The enemies are overpowered, the main character barely does any damage, and many of the bosses can kill him in about three hits. I abused the ‘cheat’ in order to get all the power cores unlocked to boost the power of the light saber and I STILL got my butt handed to me on numerous occasions throughout the game. There was no feeling of victory from finally beating the game, just an infinite sense of relief that it was over. SPLATTERHOUSE 04/03/2012 Make the Voices Stop This was an odd game; one that I did not know was actually an older game that was remade for the PS3. The game is short but frustrating, especially on the harder difficulties. I would recommend it to those that like the more niche fighting type games. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves 08/31/2012 Platinum Drake is once again racing against time to find a mythical object before it can fall into the wrong hands. The second game took everything I loved about the first; characters, location, gunplay, and ramped it up to the next level. The entire journey is fun to play through, even if the mythos behind it comes across a little stretched. The inclusion of multiplayer was a bold move and provided hours of enjoyment while trying to go for the more grindy trophies. Though at this point, I would avoid the online portion of the game with the amount of modders I ran into. LittleBigPlanet 09/07/2012 100% Complete This game is evil, pure and simple. It comes across as a simple exercise and quickly grows into a frustrating journey to complete all levels without dying. Another online game and one with annoyingly hefty trophy requirements. I would not have been able to get through everything without the friends I made through Uncarted 2. But even with that, I think the personal challenge of beating something that seemed so simple, sucked me in and made this one of the games I am proud of having on my trophy list. Back to the Future: The Game 09/22/2012 Platinum Trophy My first experience with a Telltale platinum game. The gameplay is simple and direct which doesn’t take away from the story, even if the story is pretty simplistic. I’ve never seen any of the Back to the Future movies so this was an interesting adventure at least. Borderlands 03/16/2013 Borderlands Defender This game is insanely fun and mindless. While the storyline is almost nonexistent, that does not take away from the playability of this gem. But playing through it all at once is kinda overwhelming and all the locations can start to seem very similar. If you can find a friend or two and tackle the game together, then I definitely recommend this game. Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL 10/04/2013 Punchtime Explosion Pro This is another game that I got because of my friend, and the first one that I can’t justify playing. There is nothing particularly fun or engaging about the experience. If you see this on PSN there is a reason it is trying to be sold for under $5. Jak and Daxter 10/27/2013 Top of the Heap The Jak and Daxter trilogy was one of my go to games on the PS2 and playing it on the PS3 nothing has changed. I still find the game a fun little romp of an adventure with the challenges still being the right level of hard but not overly so. The locations are varied and Daxter provides just enough comedic relief throughout the game. The Walking Dead 01/06/2014 The Walking Dead I’ve never watched The Walking Dead so I was curious as to the characters and story. It wasn’t a bad game, but it was tedious. Gotta love Clementine though. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception 01/28/2014 Platinum The third game in the series embroils Drake in a battle with a shadowy organization that seeks to control the entire world. Again, the game delivers on action, characters, and story. But it feels like more time went into the online portion of the game than the actual game itself. The world feels smaller and the areas more streamlined. Speaking of the online, another win for Naughty Dog. There are numerous game modes and trophies to occupy your time with. To date, I still do not have 100% in this game. Uncharted: Golden Abyss 05/28/2014 Platinum Drake’s first adventure and the first one on a handheld system as well. This marks my first plat for the PSvita system and it is a decent game. It took a while to get used to the different controls and the collection system for the treasures was more luck based than I would have liked. But for an Uncharted game, it holds up to the first adventure on the PS3 nicely. The characters have already been established so there is not really any development for Drake or Sully, which does detract somewhat from the experience but not to any major consequence. Kingdom Hearts Final Mix 06/24/2014 KINGDOM HEARTS Master Played the hell out of this on the PS2 as it combined my two favorite things; Final Fantasy and Disney. The soundtrack, the main characters, and gameplay just made this an amazing game from all angles and being able to play the complete version of the game just made the additional play through even more epic. Will always recommend this game. Trine 07/10/2014 Way Out of the Trine This was an impulse buy that turned out to be well worth the cost. You can choose to be any of the three characters at any time as they are all trapped in one body thanks to the Trine. The story was whimsical and getting through the game was easy enough, the only challenge comes from Better Than Developers! Trophy, a no death run of the final level on Very Hard difficulty. Trine 2 07/14/2014 Trine 2 hard With how fun and engaging the first one was, I jumped on the chance to get the second game. I should have saved my time and gone for a different game. The second game of the series is laughably easy in terms of difficulty and trophies. It is possible to unlock all the trophies before the game ends by chapter 3 when the man eater plants appear. The Wolf Among Us 07/17/2014 Full Moon This is a game based on the graphic series known as Fable, which I had no idea existed before playing this. You have your typical Telltale fair of choices that promise a consequence or different outcome but all fall within the same overall outcome. But of the Telltale games I have played, this is the best one so far. LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues 09/18/2014 The Holy Grail, Dr. Jones As LEGO games go this one was a snooze fest. Just glad to get the platinum and get it off my list. Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale 10/31/2014 All-Star Legend – You’ve Only Done Everything This is Sony’s attempt at making a Smash Brawl game and falling at it. The trophies are uninspired, the stages are plain, and the story battles are weird. On the same level of PunchTime Explosion, avoid at all costs. Ys: Memories of Celceta 11/18/2014 Timeless Adventurer My second adventure on the PSvita system and one that I truly enjoyed, everything from the story to the characters was just fun. I plowed through the story and grinded out the levels and abilities almost too quickly. The only possibly difficult trophy would be that you are forced to play the game completely twice in order to obtain all weapons for every character. Highly recommend. Dante’s Inferno 11/18/2014 Master of The Inferno While nothing like the epic poem by Dante, this game is a clone of God of War with the same moves but without the epic storyline or the smooth gameplay. This game tries to do what made Kratos so great and failed miserably. But, despite its flaws, Dante does provide that scratch of mindless bloodshed from God of War withdrawals. Virtue’s Last Reward 12/09/2014 Virtue’s Last Reward Hands down an awesome game, but it’s not really a ‘game’. This is a visual novel (VN) for short where scenes playout and the main character (you) make choices that affect gameplay. Even with that restriction this VN is on my top recommended list. Nine characters wake up in an abandoned factory setting and are tasked with playing the Nonary Game where they either help or betray their fellow prisoners, fall to zero points and the character dies. Revealing any more leads to spoiler territory though, go read it! 051 - 075 Spoiler BEYOND: Two Souls 04/23/2015 BEYOND: TWO SOULS MASTER Another ‘choice matters’ game in the same vein as HEAVY RAIN. While it is very similar, this game stands alone and is much better than its predecessor. The gameplay is slow at points and drags on but the story is gripping and the characters are unique and engaging. Between this and Heavy Rain, play this game. Murdered: Soul Suspect 07/15/2015 Moving On A short and simple murder mystery set in New Orleans. You play a recently deceased cop that is looking for his killer. As games go, it is alright. Nothing too difficult pops up and the gameplay is what you would expect. A lot of simple collectibles and quick side quests try and pad the time spent on the game but it is still doable in a single day. NCIS Game 10/22/2015 Justice has been served. Just like CSI: Fatal Conspiracy, I regretted playing this. Stay far away and save yourself the boredom. Rise of the Guardians 01/03/2016 Rise of the Guardians This game plays as a 3rd person team shooter and for what it is worth, it is pretty fun, if short. Don’t know much about Dreamworks games but I think I got my enjoyment out of it. Grim Fandango Remastered 01/03/2016 Number Nine Ticket A highly enjoyable game with an engaging storyline and fun characters, if you get the chance to play it, do so! Though playing with tank controls and not being able to run gets on the nerves every now and then. Goosebumps: The Game 01/03/2016 You Can’t Scare Me! A walk down memory lane, I remember reading these books when I was younger and it was what I expected, charming if a bit boring. Nice and easy trophies. The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 01/07/2016 Master of Unwritten Tales This was a game that did not do much for me. It hit the basics of what I enjoy in the ‘point-and-click’ genre but the characters felt bland and unoriginal. Not a bad game just not very fun. Master Reboot 01/11/2016 Platinum Trophy A short and sweet game that was unexpectedly good. Not much of a storyline, but definitely check it out if you can find it for a low enough price. Tales from the Borderlands 01/18/2016 We Had Fun, Didn’t We? Telltale managed to capture the crazy fun of the Borderlands series and derive an alright story out of it. Out of the Telltale games I have played so far, this is the best one by far. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII 01/18/2016 Eternal Light I am a glutton for punishment and a Final Fantasy addict so I had to finish out the trilogy. Once again SquareEnix decided to change up the gameplay. Instead of long hallways, or traveling through time, you now have to save as many souls as you can within a certain time limit. It’s strongly reminiscent of Majora’s Mask with the time limit. The storyline is convoluted completely and there is no real way to level up besides completing missions but you have to choose between doing missions or completing the story. There is just enough time to do almost everything but that is only by closely following a guide which takes away from the game itself. If you have avoided the previous two games, there’s really no reason to jump into this one. Life Is Strange 02/15/2016 What If? (Wow a really light image for the platinum trophy, it’s there, I swear) I had more fun than I thought I would with this title. The pseudo time traveling powers were unique and the storyline was fun to get through. Although I felt that towards the end of the game the story fell into the trap that most point-and-click adventures do of suddenly springing a world ending event into the mix. But beyond that, this game is fun to play and engaging enough to be a must recommend The Testament of Sherlock Holmes 03/30/2016 Sherlock Holmes’ Testament A slow slog through a game that is best left unplayed. Sherlock is neither witty nor particularly enjoyable in this game and by the end of the game I did not care anymore about the story, I just wanted the experience over with. Alone In The Dark 06/01/2016 100% Complete I should have listened to the reviews of this game, not exactly a terrible experience, but not one I’d ever want to have again. Unintelligible storyline, wonky controls, bad voice acting. The list goes on and on. Ratchet & Clank 10/26/2016 Gadget Master This is the other series that gave me life on the PS2 so of course I would play it on the PS3. I was happy to see that the game holds up on the new system and loved beating it again to obtain a shiny new platinum. God of War 10/28/2016 Trophy of Zeus After the struggle to beat the challenges on the PS3 I must have been insane to try it again on the vita. To this, you should agree. The different controls made the game 10x harder including the challenge rooms. God of War II 10/30/2016 Trophy of Gaia More of the same, I enjoyed playing through the game again but the challenge rooms were so much harder on the vita. Heavy Rain 10/31/2016 HEAVY RAIN Master Nothing much different on the PS4 than that PS3, it was an impulse grab. LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 10/31/2016 10 Points to Gryffindor Finally got around to finishing this series in the LEGO-verse. While it was fun to take on a game that is not difficult in any means, it does what the movies do and breaks the last year up into two separate segments. Kinda weird, but it aims to follow the movies and it does that well. LEGO Dimensions 10/31/2016 Vortech’s Bane I finally spent money on an ever expanding game that has DLC out the wazzu! But that aside, this was a fun game, it felt like each of the main three characters had a dynamic ability that helped with the overall game. Like all LEGO games, it felt a tad too short, but the DLC helps pad the game time with new locations and some of them have a storyline all their own. The Wolf Among Us 11/26/2016 Full Moon Same game, different system used. Strangely, still interesting to play. Ratchet & Clank 2 12/26/2016 He Went Commando (Yay platinum gained on my birthday, boo same trophy image). Insomniac games changed the formula with this game a bit, making the game more mission focused and including levels for the weapons and the armor. The same great humor and characters are here and it looks even better on the PS3 than it did on the PS2. The storyline gets a little lax here more than it did in the first game, but it is still a fun little blast through the galaxy to stop the Protopet. Ratchet & Clank 3 01/07/2017 Hero of the Galaxy (Another duplicate trophy image). In the third installment of the series, Ratchet & Clank are back and unfortunately so is Captain Qwark to stop an old nemesis of his Dr. Nefarious. With bigger weapons, more upgrades, and more collectibles, this is a must play game. The storyline is the best of the trilogy and it is clear there is a lot of love put into the game. The only complaint that I have is that Captain Qwark is and always will be the most annoying prick in the galaxy. Ether One 01/25/2017 Validation A walking simulator with some clever puzzles and beautiful scenery as you try and figure out why this scenario is happening. Honestly, without a guide, most of the storyline is hidden. But it is a short enough game that a first blind play through and then use a guide to clean up the trophies. Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture 03/03/2017 This Pattern is Mine Another walking simulator where the character decides to slowly stroll through a beautiful forest area where everyone seems to have just disappeared. While it is unknown why you have to move so slowly in this game, it is a short enough game that it balances out. The collectibles are easily missable without a guide and the storyline happens in the background a lot. Other than that, it is a short game that I would recommend playing just for the easy trophies. Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories 01/04/2018 Chain of Memories Master I love the Kingdom Hearts games but this is still ranked as one of the worst games no matter how you look at it. All the levels besides the last one are rehashed from the first game, the main storyline takes place in cutscenes between levels, and the free-flow combat has been replaced with cards. To add insult to injury, in order to fully platinum the game it requires SIX complete playthroughs. This was an extreme game of patience, and took a long time to complete because of that. The additions to the storyline this game brings are easily summed up in the second game, so my vote is to skip this game if possible. Unless you want to get the admittedly cool platinum trophy. 076 - 100 Spoiler Period Cube: Shackles of Amadeus 01/05/2018 Arcadia Master! A VN that had an interesting premise, main character gets trapped in a video game trying to locate her missing brother. Beyond that, the characters really drag the story down. None of the main characters/possible love interests are likeable or relatable in any way. The romantic interests spend most of the game ridiculing the main character for being naïve or dumb and some even go so far as to try and control her emotionally and physically. There were at least three playthroughs that were tough to stomach and as such, I cannot recommend the game at all. God of War: Ascension 01/14/2018 Champion of the Gods After how much I enjoyed the God of War series, including the side-stories of CoO and GoS, I really wanted to like the game as well. The storyline places this game as the first one in the entire series so your main enemies are not necessarily gods at the moment, but they are divine beings. But the entire game feels flat, Kratos barely speaks other than to grunt, and the enemies are cheap in their difficulty and damage output. This is a segment of Kratos’ history that the gaming community just did not need to experience. Definite pass for me. Watch_Dogs 01/30/2018 100% Clear Stepping back into a sandbox style adventure and while at first I was not impressed, the gameplay itself had me keep coming back in order to finish the game. It became almost an obsession and it was really satisfying to complete this game. Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds 02/11/2018 Does This Mean I Can Go Outside Now…? A VN that takes place during the shogun era in Kyoto. It is one part of a total story so it feels a bit short but in terms of how the main character is treated throughout the story, it’s much better than others I have played. Multiple playthrough for all the endings might lead into boredom at times, but it is a quick and easy platinum. LittleBigPlanet 2 02/18/2018 100% Complete This was a game that I gave up on as my old PS3 died and I lost my save data. At first I reloaded it primarily to knock out the online trophies so that the platinum would not be completely unobtainable if I ever worked up the courage to try and complete it again. Working through the game was both painful and frustrating and I got stuck on the last boss for days. The only reason I even got the platinum was because the game recognized the trophies for collecting all the prize bubbles, without that, I think this would truly have been a lost cause. LittleBigPlanet is both whimsical and agonizingly hard in equal parts and earns a recommend from me. Amnesia: Memories 02/28/2018 Memories Returned My fourth VN, the protagonist loses her memories as an otherworldly presence takes up residence in the portion of her brain that stores her memories. There are four different possible ‘realities’ to playthrough with a hidden fifth that is unlocked by completion of the others. The best playthrough is definitely the Spade World, as the others get convoluted or just weird. But this is a fun game and I enjoyed the ‘many-worlds’ theory as it was told in this game. The only main complaint that I have is the constant crashes on the download version. The Raven – Legacy of a Master Thief 03/05/2018 Master of The Raven Back into the realm of point-and-click adventures. The Raven presents itself as a mystery thriller but there is nothing really shocking about the outcome of the game. Slow movement and random glitches towards the end of the game make this a boring slog to get through. I would avoid this game in favor of something more worth your time and money. Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments 03/07/2018 Perfectionist I enjoy the mythos and wit of Sherlock Holmes. This interpretation of him is fun to play as, but the game itself leaves a lot to be desired. The game is set up over six random crimes that have little in common with each other until the ending cinematic shoehorns the struggling plot points together. With that said; the cases themselves are interesting and in some cases, cool to explore. I do wish that there was a more concrete thread to the storyline in general, but for a Sherlock game, it’s the best so far. Steins;Gate 03/16/2018 Sky Clad Observer This game was amazing. The character development of Okarin felt genuine and believable, he goes from an egotistical (annoying) jerk to someone with depth in such a way that it almost happened without me noticing as the story wound its way along. All the details were well paced, the science was believable, even if it was kinda out-there at times (Ruka/Luka). I can't give too much detail without spoiling the storyline completely, but do yourself a favor a play this game! That is all, El Psy Kongroo! Game of Thrones 03/21/2018 Lord of Ironrath I am still new to the world of Game of Thrones, but know it enough to not get too attached to any of the characters as most characters do not last long on the show. This game however, had a knack for making it all to easy to not care about anything, including the characters. The choices felt hallow, the characters were just stupid or unnecessarily cruel. It was as if Telltale did not even research the main characters of the show, everyone on the show besides Tyrion just felt wrong to how they should have acted. I usually like Telltale games, they deliver a short snippet of a story within a set universe, but this was just wrong. Add that to all the numerous bugs and endless loading screens, this is a game to avoid like the plague. Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi 03/28/2018 Fujoshi Playing Kyoto Winds on the PSVita gave me a window into the Shinsengumi and I was curious to how the stories played out without having to wait for the second game Edo Blossoms. The storylines were decent, if a bit drawn out. The main path with Hijikata didn't have as much of an impact as I would have thought for the 'cannon' ending. I preferred Okita's and Harrada's routes far more, while Toudou's route made me want to slap him with the melodrama happening. Overall, a decent game and compelling story made it an alright time waster in my books. God of War 3 Remastered 04/24/2018 King of the Hill Revisiting God of War for the final installment of the original trilogy on the 'old' system. On the PS4 everything looks clearer and sharper but the graphics were already impressive on the PS3 for their time. The game mechanics are smooth and responsive, almost nothing has changed from what I remember. However, replaying it really shows just how short the game is, and how cheap some of the bosses feel (Hades, Scorpion, etc.) especially on Titan Mode. But, this is definitely a gem of the PS3 and recommend playing this hands down just for the epic story and feel of the game. The Wolf Among Us 04/25/2018 Full Moon Perhaps the third time is the charm. With this playthrough I really tried thinking through the myths and personality of this world and Bigby Wolf is pretty much unfairly treated. No matter what he does (good or bad) he is punished and held to blame by the very citizens he is trying to protect. In a way, it almost seems pointless in his struggle to absolve himself in the eyes of the community when they both need him and hate him at the same time. Might be getting too meta here, but out of the three playthroughs, I would recommend a playthrough on the PS4 over the others. Code: Realize ~Guardian of Rebirth~ 05/09/2018 C: R Master This was a very fun little experience. The game character's are all vibrant and actually have a personality, the main character isn't just a damsel in distress, and the steampunk elements went very well throughout. The only complaint I have is that the first eight chapters of the game are completely the same, for all five characters. However, all five story lines are distinct from each other after that, which was a wonderful change from the previous VN's I've played lately. I absolutely loved Lupin as a character and his 'true' story line felt like it really brought all of the previous story lines together in a cohesive way (there was even a fun little nod to the world's greatest detective). I feel that this game is a good vita exclusive and the platinum looks pretty cool to boot. Final Fantasy VII 05/19/2018 Gaia's Guardian This was my first game that I ever played, and the game that got me started on the Final Fantasy bandwagon. While not perfect in any regard, there is always something epic about the game, no matter how many times I play through it. The characters, the story, the villain; in a way I do believe this game is timeless. Despite the sometimes shaky character arc of Cloud, I strongly recommend this game as something to play and experience before the 'remake' comes out (if it ever comes out) Norn9 Var Commons 06/04/2018 NORN9VC Completionist A beautifully drawn VN with 9 complete and stand-alone stories broken down between three main characters. Each of the stories felt different in a way that did not make it seem like a waste of time to play through the game that many times. On a plus side, even though there are seven chapters, the chapters go by quickly. But for a VN I highly enjoyed this game and definitely recommend to add it to anyone's vita playlist. RiME 06/12/2018 The end is a new beginning This game looked fun and simple when I picked it up, however it quickly turned into something bordering on an emotional introspective roller coaster and leaves you with conflicted feelings. It's a short game but definitely one that makes you think. Last Rebellion 06/19/2018 Flawless Demon A mercifully short game that thrusts you into a world torn between the gods of life and death, where the dead rise back up as demons to kill the living. A Sealer and a Blade journey forth to put an end to it. That is the basic story line and it does not get clearer as the game progresses. The battles felt very routine and boring, with little variation, if any at all in enemy design. Just a bland game and can't really recommend. Darksiders II 07/17/2018 BFA A very fun game that is reminiscent of Legend of Zelda with the big sprawling dugeons, epic quest, and collect-a-thon of gadgets and items. Death is more limber and fluid than War which has combat revolve around evasion over brute force which was hard to get accostomed to at first. The graphics, even on the PS3, were pretty stable. However, the loading times where the screen would just freeze as the game catches up as you move between areas, quickly grew irritating. There is moderate enemy variations as the game progresses, but the strategy for defeating them remains largely the same. I found it to be fun for what it is and a good 7/10 score from me. God of War 07/30/2018 Father and Son This was a treat of a game. Everything from the graphics, combat, and characters were just on par with this turn to Norse mythology and a more open world. Things felt 'alive' for lack of a better word and I had fun from beginning to end. The only negative I have is when it comes to the side bosses, the Valkyries. They feel way too broken, unblockable attacks hit you from across the map resulting in needless deaths. But beyond that, it is a solid game, a good 8/10 from me. And I look forward to seeing what else is in store for this series. Tales from the Borderlands 07/30/2018 We Had Fun, Didn't We? A second run through of the game on the PS4. Still find the humor of Pandora funny and the characters likeable, even Rhys who does get pretty whiny at times. Though I would advise against playing it twice unless you absolutely enjoy the series. Assassin's Creed II 08/26/2018 Master Assassin The trademark if you have a PS3, you will have played this game. While showing its age, the origin story of Ezio was fun to get through despite some annoying glitches and numerous loading screens. The story felt a bit 'out there' at times, especially when it fell into the trap of throwing in a last minute dynamic story change. Although I could be a bit lacking in the knowledge department as I did not play the first game. Would definitely recommend, but perhaps on the remastered version for the PS4 instead. Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness 09/18/2018 Trophy Complete Welcome to a Japan set in a future, where a persons entire mind and feelings can be read and given a number and color referred to as a 'Psycho-Pass'. Those with a high Psycho-Pass are deem 'Latent Criminals' that must be subdued or take out for the betterment of society as a whole. In this future society the police are made up of Investigators who have excellent Psycho-Pass readings. And Enforcers, who are 'Latent Criminals' that have no other purpose in their lives and do not have a chance of being part of society as a whole. While the backstory is confusing without prior knowledge of the anime, the game shines with its' story split between the two main characters. It is engaging (for a VN) and I highly recommend at least one playthrough. However, the game does suffer from having endings that are redundant for the overall story. But admitedly this is only a small part of the overall game, so I can give this game a score of 6/10 with a short break needed between the two characters stories. Spyro the Dragon 11/19/2018 Gnasty's Demise This was a blast to play on the PSX when I was a kid. Finding everything and searching every knock and cranny for the secrets of the levels was where many a day were wasted. Going back to it was amazing and I loved every moment of it. This remake was faithfully done to the original and the inclusion of skill points for the first game was an interesting addition. 7/10 Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! 11/26/2018 Ripto's Remorse The second game for the little purple dragon, and my personal favorite of the series. There are a few minor complaints, the chant in Colossus has been changed, the orbs no longer bounce when awarded to you, and Elora the Faun seems to be infatuated with you this time around for some reason. But beyond that, it was a nice jaunt through my childhood that I am thankful to have gotten. 8/10 101 - 125 Spoiler Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon 12/02/2018 Party like it's 2024 Not my favorite of the series, but not the worst Spyro game either. They introduced new characters, new components to the gameplay, and of course, new worlds. But this iteration of Spyro felt like it was nothing but mini-games instead of world traversal. It did not have the same flair and fun of the previous two games and felt a bit lifeless. Still, it is nice to have the trilogy completed and in my records. 7/10 Burly Men At Sea 12/04/2018 Ye've Done It More like four short stories with slightly different variances than a full game. A bit redundant and simplistic, but altogether a nice game. Though I do recommend doing this over the course of several small increments rather than one long playthrough. 4/10 Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition 12/08/2018 True Survivor My first foray into the Tomb Raider series and it was surprisingly good and reminded me strongly of the Uncharted series. Lara was fun to play as and the journey was short enough to not get to cumbersome with the collectibles. The only thing that dragged it down was the online, but with a good group, those are easily taken care of in an hour or so. The Town of Light 12/08/2018 The Town of Light This is a first person game set in a derelict insane asylum and through flashbacks. Word of warning have the brightness of the television turned down to avoid a headache. Nothing really to say with this 'game' it was another walking simulator with a somewhat intriguing story. Adam's Venture: Origins 12/10/2018 Hero of the day A point-and-click adventure without very many frills or really anything interesting to mention. Got it for a low price and got what I paid for. Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse 12/12/2018 Ultimate Adventurer Another point-and-click adventure, but this one was actually kinda fun. None of the puzzles were particularly hard and it was a reasonably quick playthrough. Nightmares From The Deep: The Cursed Heart 12/13/2018 Platinum Sticking with the point-and-click games and this time the story was well delivered and the cut-scenes helped convey the overall feel of the game. Still nothing overly difficult for your time investment. inFAMOUS Second Son 12/15/2018 Enjoy Your Powers This was a game that I should have finished a while ago, but after one playthrough of getting everything possible, I was burntout. Delsin was a major deviation from the previous protagonist Cole, and honestly he annoyed the hell out of me. For an early release on the PS4 it does what it aimed to do with the graphics and range of the PS4 but since we haven't gotten a new game in the series since, it is obvious it did not have what it takes to move out of Cole's shadow and the story set by the first two games. Nightmares From The Deep 2: The Siren's Call 12/28/2018 Platinum Diving back into the point-and-click genre with the second game. Still a decent game for your time with an alright story with a clear hint that there is going to be a third game. Not that I am complaining at all. Day of the Tentacle Remastered 12/29/2018 OCD Keeping the same genre with a game where the humor is pretty childish but not in a bad way. It was a quick playthrough and an interesting step back in time to a computer game I never played. Stories: The Path of Destinies 01/09/2019 Gray fox is my pup With an intriguing art style and threads of humor in the narrator, the first four playthroughs are enjoyable, then the grinding starts. Definitely a game to take in small chunks to not burn yourself out on it. Not a bad game by any means, just way to short with nothing added of significance to any of the playthroughs past the fourth one. Resident Evil 2 02/12/2019 Raccoon City Native A platinum that I am pretty proud to have achieved. I got this for my partner as I don't particularly like horror games or games with speedruns, and this one gets an A for both. He convinced me to try it so that he could play the game with the grenade launcher which is awarded for S+ Claire run. It took a few tries but in the process the game grew on me. The atmosphere and the challenge made it outstanding, and the story was alright if confusing. I don't generally think a story built entirely around a 'what if' concept is doable when Capcom moves on to RE3 and beyond with the remakes. But I definitely recommend playing this, especially since you can now get the unlock weapons without doing the S+ runs. Until Dawn 02/28/2019 A Symphony of Horror Trophies Another game that I got for my partner that I somehow got into playing. Nothing too interesting here, the typical 'your choice matters' gameplay in which all characters can either die or live depending on what you do. But the majority of the characters are annoying enough that you want them to die anyways...or that might have just been me. Resident Evil 03/06/2019 Platinum Splattin' 'Em! Another speedrun nightmare that I am beyond thrilled that I managed to get done. It took some hard work but this plat is nothing to scared of, just 6 playthroughs and memorizing enemy placement. Yooka-Laylee 05/02/2019 Collectomaniac The spiritual successor of Banjo-Kazooie and it matches those expectations without going overboard or beyond that. Finicky controls and large yet empty worlds bring down the experience a bit, but I am looking forward to what the team comes up with next. 2064: Read Only Memories 05/03/2019 Plasteel and Silica A weird mix of steampunk and visual novel in which you try to help a sentient robot stop another program from accessing the internet and being used to collect information on anyone and everyone in the world. There are a number of endings, but they are mostly based on how nice/jerky you are to your sidekick. It is a interesting game that doesn't really say a whole lot though it seems to want to lecture you about something. High ideals with no follow through are the problem here. Zero Escape: The Nonary Games 05/29/2019 You Found It A collection of the first game 9 persons/9 hours/9 doors and Virtue's Last Reward. A mixture of VN and Hidden Object puzzle game with an excellent story and characters. I absolutely loved Virtue's Last Reward on the Vita and was eager to finally be able to play the first game. Each game is strong enough to stand alone and in my opinion, they should be considered separate games instead of sequels as they do not flow together very well. But if given the chance, definitely try this game out. Zero Time Dilemma 06/01/2019 Zero Escape The end of the series and the weakest entry that splits the story between three main characters, but the story is broken further in small chunks to mimic the amnesia that the characters are facing. This only serves to confuse the player and make the story an unintelligible mess which is left off at a question of whether a gun was fired or not. Plus, manipulation of events to cause your own birth, yeah, creepy. The Last Of Us 07/10/2019 It can't be for nothing I absolutely loved this game. The acting, the visuals, the story. It is a shame that I waited so long to experience this awesomeness. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic future where a fungus that grows by taking over the host has moved from insects to Humans and civilization has been crippled. In this world the main characters Ellie and Joel travel to reach the freedom group Fireflies and fight to survive against foes both Human and Infected. The difficulty on everything but Easy is adequately stocked so that it never feels like you are against impossible odds, there is always a way to get through, you just have to find it. Highly, highly recommend this game. Sly Cooper And The Thievius Raccoonus 07/14/2019 True Thievius Raccoonus A classic from the PS2 era that managed to slip me by. I remedied this and played through it, but while the art style is heavily reminiscent of both Jak and Daxter and Ratchet & Clank, I couldn't really like this game. It was focused heavily on stealth, which I get, but the levels did not give you many, if any, places to hide. Hopefully the second game is better, because this did not impress. 36 Fragments of Midnight 07/23/2019 Platinum Midnight I understand what people mean when they say you can pay for a plat nowadays. There isn't anything really challenging here, and the game is easily beatable in a matter of minutes. This felt more like a demo, then a full-blown game in its own right. Darksiders Warmastered Edition 07/24/2019 BFA A giant homage to Legend of Zelda that I was happy to playthrough again. Though despite it being on the PS4, War still feels very clunky and slow to play as, but all the same, being able to cut through swaths of angels and demons was an awesome time to be had on the PS4. Darksiders II 08/04/2019 BFA The second game in the series features Wars' brother Death on a journey that takes place during and at the same time and up until the end of Wars' own journey in the first game. As Death tries to find a way to clear Wars' name in starting the Apocalypse. Once again we have the giant dungeons, towering enemies, and Zelda-esque quest. A great game to play. Darksiders III 08/09/2019 BFA The third game in the series and this one is a doozy. Instead of embodying Zelda, this iteration takes on the Dark Souls genre and moves away from the hack-n-slash to become a dodge-or-you-die game. Fury, the only female Horseman, is tasked with capturing the escaped Seven Deadly Sins from the destroyed Earth. So in the order of the games so far this game takes place about twenty years after the apocalypse has started, War is imprisoned and Death is missing, and Strife is 'pre-occupied' on something else. With this being the first game with one of the Horsemen actually being at full power, Fury is pretty weak. It only takes one or two hits from any enemy on any difficulty to kill Fury. Something that was hard to get used to after coming straight from the previous two games. On top of this, the overworld map has been removed as the overworld is now a labyrinth that interconnects in on itself. As a result the game feels very short without many branching paths as they all lead in generally the same direction. Beyond this though, the game is beautiful and feels really alive. The dynamic between Fury and The Watcher is very well done and it is fun to listen to the dialogue on a replay to hear all the double meanings. If you can get used to the lack of defense and precise timing for the dodges, then I highly recommend this game. Call of Cthulhu 09/21/2019 Professor of Arkham University A game that looks ported straight from a computer to the PS4. A down on his luck PI gets a job offer that he cannot refuse. Look into the apparent family murder suicide of a woman on a island called Darkwater. Once there, out intrepid hero gets embroiled in a conspiracy that involves the fate of the world. Simple, clunky gameplay and a slightly convoluted story made this a small dip in the HP Lovecraft universe of the mythical Cthulhu. 126 - 150 Spoiler Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice 10/19/2019 Done A short game that has beautifully rendered graphics but long drawn out battle sequences. Hellblade is the first game that I have encountered in which playing it with headphones makes the game better. The creators did a wonderful job crafting all these tiny little details and voices to give you a truly unsettling atmosphere and the storyline was very well done in my opinion. The only stuttering points for me were in the execution of the battles, the lack of a map, and some scenes did not sit well with me in relation to suicide and depression. But then again, it was created with the help of researchers of psychosis so that should have been a given. My Name is Mayo 10/26/2019 My Name is Mayo! Just do me a favor and let me forget that I actually got this 'platinum'. Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King 11/04/2019 King of Everything I remember struggling with both of these games as a kid and thankfully, the soul-crushing difficulty is still intact. I'll be honest, Aladdin, I never made it past the first boss when I was younger. And in The Lion King, I couldn't make it past the 'I Can't Wait to be King' segment (damn giraffes!). So it was awesome that these games came with a 'watch' mode so I could actually see a playthrough of the games and see how to get to the end. I took part in the in-game cheats in order to snag the plat that way I could enjoy my time slowly trying to get farther than I did as a child. Really glad these got a remaster, but without the cheat menu, I probably would have skipped on them. Code Vein 11/08/19 Revenant Preeminent I have actively avoided all souls-like games due to the sheer difficulty of said games, either literally or perceived. That was until I got talked into buying this game for my partner and I am extremely glad that I did. The anime-esqe character style, visuals, and gameplay were just right to draw me in and it is one of my prouder plats on my record. While definitely not the hardest souls-like game (I mean, I beat it) it set it up nicely for me to be at least a little more confident in trying out Bloodbourne next. Highly recommend this game. Indivisible 11/13/19 Indivisible A charming game that has a hidden difficulty layer that while frustrating, made the game all the more fun to beat. The characters were varied and fun with each one having a different move-set which made the potential battle combinations almost endless. If just playing it for fun, the only difficult part is the final climb to the end boss which forces the player to use every single move that you have learned throughout the game. For those going for 100% the difficulty slowly ramps up as you try to get Ringsels, magical crystals that allow you to upgrade your stats. These are diabolically staged in some areas. Very enjoyable, solid B+. Raging Loop 11/23/19 Rise Not! Thud! Visual Novel that takes on the game of Werewolf where a group of players must work together to determine whom among them is the enemy or 'werewolf'. In this case, you play as a character that has found himself in a village during a mysterious mist that hides demonic entities. To escape, the village much decide who to hang each day in the hope of killing a demon/werewolf and winning the game. However, during the night, the demons are able to kill one villager. But the main character has a hidden skill, every time he meets his end, he goes back to the start of the series of events with his memories intact to try again and find the right path through to save himself and the villagers. For a VN was a pretty good read, especially the second and third playthrough when the storyline starts changing. MediEvil 12/12/19 Savior of Gallowmere Sir Daniel, a knight that met a less than glorious end before the epic battle that history has incorrectly labeled him the hero of, is accidentally brought back to life. Taking this second chance, this skeleton knight journeys through the haunted land of Gallowmere to finally earn his place in the hall of heroes. Surprisingly enjoyable game that didn't take to long to beat, probably a solid C game. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 12/28/19 A New Hope This was a refreshing change from the garbled mess that was The Force Unleashed. While I am not a Star Wars buff, the storyline was interesting and easy enough to follow even if Cal did feel pretty one-dimensional through most of the game. It was a pretty fun diversion and not extraordinarily hard to beat CollarxMalice 12/29/19 CollarxMalice There isn't a lot to say about this game other than I really really wanted to like it, but the characters felt contrived and out of place among the story being told around them. None of the characters were very likeable and it seemed to run on for longer than it needed to. Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep 01/02/20 Birth by Sleep Master Considering the massive scope of the mini-games and the fact that you need to 100% this game three separate times along with beating it a total of 6 times with an EXTRA playthrough to complete the secret episodes on the hardest difficulty. This game is a great achievement in my book and I am glad to have gotten it done. On that note, the negatives: the characters are one-dimensional to an annoying degree. I understand that this is a prequel and meant to tell the backstory of the 'main' villain, it would have been nice for more variety in the worlds and for there to be distinct worlds for each character to go through. But we got what Nomura gave us. Life is Strange: Before the Storm 02/22/20 Bring on the Storm The events that play out before the first game serve to take away from the story on the main game and I can't say anything to positive about this experience. This is one of the prequels that would have been better told in flashbacks or some other story device then a full standalone game. Okami HD 03/01/20 Top Dog After reading on the forums that this game was so great, I had to experience it myself. And I do agree, the game is beautiful with a plot that just meanders along its' own way and pacing. It was a fun experience, even if the controls made for some frustrating times. Enslaved: Odyssey to the West 03/15/20 Platinum Trophy The storyline for this game...is not that great. What IS great is the character Pigsy. Play it, meet him, and move on to the DLC. You will be happier for it. Resident Evil 3 04/05/20 So Long, RC I was excited to play this game after hearing about the awesomeness that is Nemesis in the original game. Unfortunately, while they went to great lengths to have this play like a movie, it falls short of even its' predecessor RE2 Remake. The game is nothing more than a Michael Bay movie with 'horror' thrown in within the RE universe. Nemesis is not scary, and is not even a threat in this iteration of his character. Resident Evil 0 04/06/20 Wanna Go for a Ride? The 'prequel' of sorts for the series and the hardest one to beat on hard mode. If it wasn't for the awesome friends that join me on discord, this would probably still be languishing in the unfinished purgatory that is my backlog. Fun item management and resource strategy put this game tied with the original Resident Evil in terms of enjoyment. Final Fantasy VII Remake 05/03/20 Master of Fate The long awaited remake of the game that got me into gaming in the first place...and we get a fraction of the original game. That aside, I have a few problems with the storyline involving the Whispers and the change in music (Cosmo Canyon was fine as is!). But the gameplay is smooth and fluid, using magic is pretty mandatory to beat enemies whereas before you could just out level the enemies and bumrush your way through. While not the game I was hoping for, I am holding out for the second part to see how it plays out. A Plague Tale: Innocence 06/13/20 Innocence An interesting game that uses rats as a metaphor for the plague in real life. While one playthrough is fine, the two needed to complete everything and the amount of times I had to start over kinda sucked the enjoyment out of it for me. Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride 07/23/20 Platinum Nice and simple point-and-click game with an alright storyline. A much needed distraction after the irritation of the last game. Mad Max 10/13/20 The Halls of Valhalla I have never seen Mad Max or really know anything about the character. This game was given for free on ps+ and when I found out about the server closure, decided to jump in on it. The game has your typical hack-and-slash dynamic but with cars instead of swords. The combat felt familiar in a way to how the Arkham games do it but without the smoothness of the freeflow combat system. And that was my main problem with the game, it felt like it had all these little pieces from other games strewn throughout instead of it being its own game. It was fun for a bit, but the experience dragged on longer than it needed for that 100%. Resident Evil 5 10/17/20 Resident Evil 5 Platinum Trophy The RE plats keep coming. In a very very large part to my discord friends, I was able to get this plat and pretty close to the 100%. For a RE game there is a lot of things that were just wrong but mostly, I was disappointed to have Wheskers' storyline end in that fashion. But now I see where that 'Chris and bolder' meme came from and agree that it was ridiculous. Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek 10/18/20 Platinum Nothing to see here, just another clicky clicky game that I love so much. It is a partial addiction, I swear. Astro's Playroom 11/14/20 You've Only Done Everything Brand new system comes with a new game that teaches you the changes with the controller and system while giving a nice flashback to the generations that came before it. A charming little demo neatly packaged with the PS5 that was surprisingly fun to play. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning 12/06/20 Perfectionist I grew up reading RA Salvator and my partner plays WoW but I haven't been able to get into it. So this was a nice alternative. While cliche, the storyline was still fun enough to keep me entertained even if the enemies became damage sponges at the end. Compared to the seemingly endless quests, both side and faction quests, the main story quest line was relatively short. But this is a charming game that I am glad got remastered for the PS4 so that hopefully others can get to experience it. Batman: Return to Arkham - Arkham Asylum 04/11/21 Platinum Trophy If it isn't obvious, Arkham Asylum is my favorite game of the Batman series so far. I felt it was time to go back through it and experience it on the PS4 and while the graphics were slightly improved, the visuals are starting to look aged. Still a great game. Returnal 05/28/21 Helios This was one hard game to master, but the challenge did not decrease the enjoyment of getting through it. Selene's struggle was a gauntlet that for a long while felt fresh and different before the rooms started to look the same and a pattern developed that could be learned from. The storyline and ending are all vague and left up to player interpretation so it might not be the game for everyone, but what is there is fun and engaging. 151 - 170 Spoiler Eventide: Slavic Fable 05/29/21 Platinum Back to a point-and-click with a charming story that is just what I needed after the brutality of the last game. Fairly simple and easy platinum. Drowning 06/01/21 Drowning Platinum A game that details one of the creators struggles with depression, set in a walking sim. It is sortof dark and I don't recommend it. Remnant: From the Ashes 06/16/21 From the Ashes A 3rd person shooter that focuses on co-op with two other people. Was a fun experience with my two friends to take on a destroyed Earth and the lands beyond, exploring everything and working together to beat the bosses. Definitely kept us busy for a couple of weeks and would recommend if you can pull together consistent buds to boost with. Final Fantasy VII Remake 07/28/21 Master of Fate This is the first game that I auto-popped and I still feel conflicted about it. The game is beautiful, and while it isn't what I expected, it deserves to be played. But at the same time, I only got it on the PS5 in order to play the Intermission dlc which was a PS5 exclusive. Do I regret not giving this version the time it deserved and replat it the old fashioned way? Yes. Resident Evil 6 07/17/21 Resident Evil 6 Platinum Trophy This game was...something. Four separate stories with no real thread linking them together and no over-arching villain. It felt like I was playing through several demos that had been mashed together and not a full game which was disappointing. Each character has their own distinct 'playstyle' but it just boils down to a random mesh of a game that doesn't feel cohesive in what it is trying to do. Which, even after finishing it, I am still not sure what it was trying to say or move the series. Ratchet & Clank 07/20/21 The Hero of Heroes I absolutely love Ratchet & Clank ever since it first came out on the PS2 and this was no exception. As a soft reboot of the series, it mashed the original trilogy into a singular game which frees up the series to go in its own direction and I am excited to see where it plans to take the adventurous Lombax. Sackboy: A Big Adventure 09/15/21 Big Adventurer Sackboy arrives on the PS5 with all the charm of the previous games, along with a surprising amount of challenge to get that shiny plat. While there were some interesting glitches to get through, the game was fun and streamlined for online play and made for a fun, if quick experience with my steadfast co-op partner. Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms 09/24/21 Chizzy Chizzy Bang Bang Giving the PSvita some much needed love and finished this visual novel. This is actually the sequel of Hakuoki Kyoto Winds and completes the story began there of the struggles of the main character, demons, and ninja. While I don't agree that the original game needed to be split into two for the vita, it was short enough not to be to big of a deal. A simple and relaxing visual novel, that I played to finish the series and take a rest between my bigger games. Demon's Souls 10/01/21 Slayer of Trophies A game that I was talked into trying by my gaming friends and what a crash course it was. The only game even close to this difficulty that I had experienced before was Code Vein and that pales in comparison to what awaits here. Built from the ground up in an exact copy of the PS3 version, it is a beauty on the PS5 and one of the prouder accomplishments on my list. Despite my bellyaching along the way, the challenge was top notch and well done. Even if some enemies were bs. Demon's Souls 10/02/21 Toughest Soul Trophy Half-way through the game on the PS5, I was inspired to use my knowledge of the levels and my fascination with the challenge, to try my hand at the original. Despite the online being 'shutdown', the challenge was difficult but not much different than being able to summon a real person to help. Though, unless you really enjoy the challenge, I would stick with the better visuals of the PS5 version. 36 Fragments of Midnight 10/06/21 Platinum Midnight Replaying an easy game on the PSvita, needed a breather after the previous two. Dark Souls 10/15/21 The Dark Soul Struggling to get through the predecessor, Demon's Souls, of course led to wanting to tackle this series. The difficulty is no joke. The amount of times I raged at getting cheap shoted has to be a record (for me). But that isn't to say that the game is difficult just for difficults sake. Well it is, BUT the challenge is in how you approach battles, your armor and upgrades matter just a smidgeon more than your actual level. You will die (a lot) but with some help, whether by the AI summons or the blessed online. There isn't anything that can't be beaten. Though there will be areas that you never want to see again. Crystal Caves >.> Batman: Arkham Origins 10/16/21 Platinum Ahhh Batman. I have a love hate relationship with this game in the arkham series. It isn't a bad game, but it has a tendency to feel clunky when compared to the previous two of City and Asylum. The bosses in this game also don't have any teeth or really purpose besides being there. While I enjoy Batman and its free-flow combat mechanic, after having my save file get corrupted followed by it glitching and necessitating ANOTHER 3 full playthroughs. I don't have a lot of fond memories of this game. And that isn't even taking into account the tacked on multi-player. Dark Souls II 01/09/22 The Dark Soul Onward to the second game and the biggest hurdle for me in the series. There were just so many things that did nothing but infuriate. While the first game was hard but could be fair, this one just felt unpleasant. You are punished for dying, whether by a mistake or from an enemy kill, your health decreases each time. On top of that, the enemies are now limited so after a certain number of them being defeated, they disappear from the game. Meaning the souls you collect are an equally limited resource that cant be regained if you get one-shotted out of nowhere while trying to make it back to the bonfire. The difficulty got increased artificially because of this and that to me, doesn't make it fair in the least amount. And it makes this title my least favorite in the series. Dark Souls III 01/24/22 The Dark Soul The last part of the trilogy and it brought it back closer to what made the first game so great. Hard bosses and environments without being handicapped by artificial difficulty (limited enemies, soul memory, etc.) There were some generally challenging areas in this game, and my bellyaching got the better of me (just ask my co-op partner) but it was a fun experience. Bloodborne 02/01/22 Bloodborne It was probably a mistake to progress to this game after doing Dark Souls 1 - 3 without pause as they shook up the formula completely in this game. The focus is no longer on blocking/tanking attacks and whittling the opponent down. Instead, it moved to 'dodge or you die' and it was jarring to try to get used to it. But out of the FromSoftware games that I have played, this one takes full advantage of its atmosphere and really draws you into its world. While there was some maddeningly cheap enemies and challenges, it was an interesting experience though this is perhaps the game that has the weirdest endings yet. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game 02/09/22 The Completionist This was a great game to play on the PS3 and I had a ton of fun with it, and this version of the game takes what the original had and just slaps a platinum on top of the package. I wish that I could say it was a good port but the online is shaky with random disconnects and freezes, there are glitches (playing online I tried to do the sacrifice code to get money and level up my character and it stuck all my stats at 0, but leveled them up to 16), and long loading times. It feels weird to say, but the PS3 version is actually superior to this one, at least until they get the online fixed and stop with the crashes. Dark Souls 02/10/22 The Dark Soul Went back to the PS3 version of the first game in the souls series and was not prepared for the wall I would hit right away, the online is dead. There were not any summon signs that I could see by any of the bosses (beyond the AI for certain bosses) but I did get invaded plenty. I'm still kinda in shock that I got through the game without any help and can confidently say that S+O really are the only hurdle in this game. Both playthroughs, they were the wall that I collided with and got manhandled until getting lucky enough to get through it and steamrolling the rest of the game. It really is a test of patience and being able to learn moves, something that I am rather bad at. Deponia 02/18/22 Deponia unlocked! After the race through the Demon/Dark Souls games, it was nice to finish up a point-and-click adventure that has been sitting on my list for far too long. While not the most likeable main character, Rufus at least has more of a personality than most of the protagonists of these types of games. Ark: Survival Evolved 03/24/22 Apex Predator First game where I have used the Developer Menu to get the trophies, and it feels weird. Very buggy game none-the-less but yay free game from PS+ Elden Ring 04/05/22 Elden Ring Here is the big one, the latest game FromSoftware decided to torture us with and let's just say it is a dozy. The game is simply gigantic and packed to the seams with things to find and explore. But it is in the overwhelming amount of content that Elden Ring both excels and fails. There are so many areas that are just filled with the same type of loot, you get a sword from one dungeon and get another from a different one that really don't have that much difference in their stats. At the end of it, I would have preferred to have fewer dungeons in the overworld but longer dungeons overall. And ones that all felt different and cohesive to a theme. It is a great game, but FromSoft took everything (both good and bad) from the previous games and threw them in here with faster combat, delayed button responses, and annoyingly cheap acrobatic bs. The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan 04/11/22 Total Shocker! A simulated movie game where you play as five teens that have been captured by pirates and must figure out how to escape both from their captors and a mysterious ghost ship. On the surface, Man of Medan seems like a good basis for a story. But the game boils down to nothing but jump scares and the ending is very lackluster. Plus, with the way the game is set up, after the ending it becomes painfully boring to replay through in order to get the different variations of the ending. The Shame Pile Spoiler LEGO Rockband For a LEGO game it takes skill to get the platinum which is locked behind 100% completing 'The Final Countdown' Guitar Solo on Expert. I do not have the peripheral items needed to play the game anymore, and if I DID have them, I do not have the patience of the determination to spend countless hours trying to 'gitgud' on something that I know is above my skill level. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 A friend put it on my system saying it was 'easy' to complete for a fighting game. Well, they lied. Button mashing in a specific order to pass the challenges just doesn't work and that is as far as my skill at the game goes. What I did play was fun, and I got the online done, so if I did ever feel the need to waste my time. This one is always on the back burner to put me in my place. White Knight Chronicles The first game with a plat that I tried out at the start of this profile. Back when I did not know a thing about trophies and how hard they can be. Fast forward to right before the servers closed and I got talked into trying out the game again with help. IRL got in the way and I got left behind as the online that the game had been built around disappeared. Now I am left with a game that I may or may not have to start over on in order to effectively grind out the items needed to complete the synthesizing as I did not follow a guide or keep track of what I had made. While this one is not 'impossible' per say, it is a huge investment that I don't think I am willing to undertake. Call of Duty: Black Ops I know, I know, this is probably another 'easy' game. Infinite enemy spawn, useless partner A.I. and enemy has an affinity for killing you before you can blink on Veteran. I keep trying this game off and on for years, seeing if I have developed the skills or patience needed. Always rage quit during chapter 4, Sabotaging the Space Mission. Damn hallway of death. Pier Solar and the Great Architects This game is amazing and I love it to pieces. But this is an example of when a mini-game should not be tied to a trophy, let alone two trophies. The skill and memorization needed to master the Slippery mini-game are beyond me, and as large as my backlog is, this game keeps sliding further and further down it. At this point I doubt I will ever return to it. The Witness A PS+ game that I should have known better than to try. Following a guide, the puzzles are at least understandable to a degree. However, the final 'challenge' is a giant middle finger to most players. In the span of five minutes you have to solve 14 completely random puzzles that change each and every time you attempt the challenge. Pausing resets the challenge. And should you fail on of the puzzles, you have to resolve the previous one. It is aggravating in the extreme and I doubt I will ever be good enough to complete it. It's a work in progress, especially the backlog. One of these days I hope to actually beat all my PS3 games and move officially to just having two systems (the psvita and PS4).
BlazzingWind
Steins;Gate has been opened! Sky Clad Observer obtained! This was a whirlwind of a game, and as such, it took me a while to get through it. Honestly, one of the best VNs I have played to date. The way the characters interact and the storyline is just on par. None of the side stories were to out-there or weird like in some of the other VN's I've played. My only gripe would be that some of the scenes were a little rapey. But overall, a must play.
BlazzingWind
Managed to beat Game of Thrones on the PS3, compared to the main series, it was a let down. To many bugs and endless loading screens to really get into the game. But now I can dive into Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi and be a samurai again

But I am hesitant to play it now after finally doing the PS3 version, though I have heard it plays much better than the PS3. But it is in my backlog and eventually I might have to play it anyways. BlazzingWind
Finished Hakuoki - Stories of the Shinsengumi - I played Kyoto Winds on the PSVita where they had split up the story into two parts (the second part to be released as Edo blossoms) so I kinda had an idea of what was happening during the game. Overall, the potential lovers were okay with there being some weirdness on the parts of Toudou's, Saito's, and Kazama's routes...but that is to be expected with a game like this. I still can't buy that Harrada had great success battling with a spear...his storyline is one of my favorites, but the weapon is just -shrug-

I'm decided for the time being to focus on my digital and only one physical since I don't need to get up and dig thru my box across the room. BlazzingWind
Update 1: Going to try and do weekly updates, either every Sunday or Monday to go over what happened; either in game world or RL adventures. For this week: The all important God of War was given to me as a gift from my fiance. As a result, I am trying to finish up God of War 3 Remastered in order to have all of the 'last gen' GoW games beaten before starting this new (hopefully) trilogy. I'm already at the Labyrinth on Titan Mode with just the Cestus and Nemesis Whip left to upgrade for full completion. Beyond that, picked up Mad Max from the PS+ free games line-up. Not quite sure how I feel about the game, but one does not turn up their nose at a free game. With all this hustle and bustle, I've kinda put the Spring Back-log Challenge on hold for now. Still have 5 games to complete before the end of May. Think there is enough time to run through the 4 story driven games ( Norn9: var Commons, Tales from the Borderlands, Code: Realize, and The Wolf Among Us) before tackling the rest of Final Fantasy VII and bumrush the rest of the game. ---Guide stuff: Both God of War and Mad Max have been added which brings my grand total of games to 285 ?? BlazzingWind
And with that, we have an era that has closed King of the Hill God of War, the original trilogy has been beaten (again) which closes out the PS2/PS3 GoW and opens up the new trilogy for the PS4...cannot wait to start the new game with the Norse Mythology influence. But first, need to clean up some other games that have been cluttering up my backlog. The Wolf Among Us: Season 1 PS4, your time has come
BlazzingWind
Another game has been completed: The Wolf Among Us. Yes, beaten 3 times, but of Telltale's games, it is my favorite by far. And with that plat, it brings me one step closer to finishing the Spring Backlog challenge. 4 more games to go.
BlazzingWind
Update 2: This week has been mostly work and little sleep, per usual. However, on the gaming front, defeated God of War 3 Remastered and have been feeling conflicted ever since. There's a sense of accomplishment at having bested all nine games, both original and remastered versions, but now that it is all over, it kinda felt like I was saying goodbye to a friend. A revenge ridden, blood-soaked, ghost that could never be killed; that was Kratos for me. But all good things must come to an end, or change in some way, this being no different. Below are some of my thoughts on my first couple hours playing the new God of War. Spoiler When starting the new God of War, I was struck with just how beautiful everything was...and how...old Kratos seemed. It is as though with the addition of the beard (and a kid) Kratos aged about twenty or so odd years. Nothing wrong with the change, but it did throw me for a loop at first. On top of that, the battle system has changed. One of the things I highly enjoyed was that Kratos was always a mid-distance fighter. Using his chain-blades, he could get to enemies both near and far. Only going up close and personal if the enemy called for it. But now (and I know this might change) but he only has access to his axe which forces him to be up close to his enemies which feels like it limits the free-flow of combat from the previous games. But moving away from battle mechanics, the graphics are just insane. Comparing God of War 3 (PS4) to this, in almost every way, this game outshines it. Which of course, is because this God of War was actually made for the PS4. The environment looks and feels alive, everything is bright and vibrant, and the detail is breath-taking. What I do not like, is how all the environments are just long hallways interspaced with larger 'rooms' where a puzzle or fight are waiting. In the previous God of War games this formula was fitting as Kratos was traversing through a temple or walled area. But here, Kratos is supposed to be moving through a forest/wild lands. It might be a beautifully crafted area, but it is still just a hallway and it leaves me feeling frustrated and hoping that later in the game the world will open up more for exploration. And finally moving on to the characters themselves. Kratos has definitely changed more than just his facial hair, his attitude has gone from wearing his anger on his sleeve to that anger/rage being a burning under-current. There are flashes so far where the old Kratos shines through but in a way, he almost seems sullen now, stoic. I personally can't wait for his rage to break through as the game progresses. And we also have a new character named Atreus, Kratos' apparent son. It is still unclear if he is his son by blood or just adopted and both options have ramifications to the story-line. If he is blood to Kratos, would be interesting to see if the Greek mythology still has some lasting hold on the series (as in son kills father in an unending chain), as Chronus tried killing Zeus, Zeus in turn defeated Chronus, followed by Zeus trying to kill Kratos, with Kratos defeating Zeus. It would be a nice throwback to the original games if that is what the developers are going for, if a little telegraphed. On the other hand, if Atreus is not blood related to Kratos, then a 'demi-god' could be hiding Atreus from the Norse gods, which would explain the eventual confrontation between Kratos and the Norse gods. Beyond all that, Atreus is an interesting character that contrasts sharply with Kratos. He is sarcastic and has the same anger that Kratos thrives on burning inside of him. But there is an innocence about him that I kinda hope does not get squashed out through the course of the game. I really like him as a character, he is a refreshing change, if unusual addition to such a bloody series. Overall the first few hours of playing the game has really blown me away, there are a few difficulties for me to work out, namely getting used to the new fighting system. But it is looking to be a very fun experience, a full review to follow next week as my journey through Midgard continues. Beyond God of War though, I was able to finish The Wolf Among Us and push forward on the Spring Backlog Challenge. Up next, I'm either going to race through Tales from the Borderlands (absolutely love this game, already played it on the PS3) or finish up Code Realize. BlazzingWind
Condensed and reupdated the grand list. Now have a section about why those 10 games are sitting unfinished (although if anyone has any tips I'd be willing to listen) I had to cancel my pre-order of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (sadness) Hooked way to hard on God of War at the moment...really need to get back to my Spring Backlog Challenge but the game is so beautiful
BlazzingWind
Update 3: Still hammering away as best I can on the Spring Backlog Challenge; only 4 games left to go. Would feel really dumb for failing the challenge when I picked mostly VNs and one RPG to get through in two months time. Made some small progress in Final Fantasy VII which brought me closer to the end of Disc 1. No matter how many times I play this game, it never gets old, and it actually feels a bit weird to be playing with 'god mode' turned on. Also, while I never knew that you could date Barret and Yuffie in the Gold Saucer, the date scene with Barret was painfully awkward...so uh...congrats FF7 for the pedo reference toward Cloud? Also managed to get a bit further in Code: Realize. Made it to the 'end' of the first open playthrough and the 'start' of Van Helsings side-story. Will be with some relief that I am able to start using the 'skip' function for the repeat playthroughs for the other four characters. Thankfully I still have about three weeks and a day off tomorrow. Plan to make big gains in Code: Realize (completing the game would be nice but I'll take getting the 4 main playthroughs done), and possibly get either halfway through Disc 2 of FF7 or get to episode 4 of Tales from the Borderlands. Gotta make up lost time from God of War.
BlazzingWind
New Games: King Oddball x3 Rayman Legends (PS4) Furmins (PSV) Picked up King Oddball without realizing it gives all three trophy lists so we'll see if I actually playthrough all the lists, but if it is fun on the PS3 I might go through the PS4 list as well. Finally broke down and grabbed Rayman Legends, though am a little worried on the online componet I've heard is hard to unlock. And Furmins just seemed fun. So the PS+ struck again and pushed my game total up to 290 o.o
BlazzingWind
Update 4: This week brings the completion of Final Fantasy 7. I've beaten it countless times before but this is the first time that I have actually beaten Ruby and Emerald Weapon, as well as gotten mastered materia (summon, item, and magic), and raised my own gold chocobo, and gotten all enemy skills for all 4 materia. But this was not a 'perfect' playthrough though as I did not gather every materia available, and I did not collect every weapon in the game. But these are just arbitrary goals I set for myself when re-playing the game each time. In other gaming news, started playing Tales from the Borderlands and am racing through my last two games for the Spring Backlog Challenge. It will definitely be close, but I feel confident that I will just squeeze through with time to spare since FF7 is now done and complete. An unfortunate short week on the gaming spectrum but that's just how it is sometimes.
BlazzingWind
Update 5: First late post, but hopefully the last one as this continues. Another very short week on the gaming spectrum. Norn9 is turning out to be a pretty interesting game with nine playthroughs (technically 10) needed to complete, I was expecting to have to do the 'skip dialogue' trick to get through it in time. But the stories are short (only 7 or 8 chapters long) and (so far) the storylines seem different enough to not be boring for all the characters. Though I am only fully done with 2/9 characters. Already have the 'brainwashed' and 'strong/brave because of love' typical playthroughs that seem to be in all VNs, so hoping the other characters have a bit more original character development without crossing over into the creepy/abusive/control relationship. Tales from the Borderlands is sitting at Episode 1/5 completed and should take about 7 hours to complete. With two days left and the 31st being a blessed day off, all focus is on Norn9 to get the remaining playthroughs done and the small side game for 5K points, before just letting TftB play on the PS4 and reaping the rewards. Until next week with the start of the Summer Backlog Challenge and Camp Wanttaplat starting with a total of 16 games potentially to be beat. It's looking like a very busy summer. BlazzingWind
Update 6: We have the results of The Spring Backlog Challenge 2018...and...well, it ended on a failure. Only managed to finish 8/10 games that I had put down to complete. However, just the plain fact that the challenge made it so I was consistently playing games was a huge turn around for me. As for the past few months it has been very hard to sit down and actually finish or even start a game. On top of that, being able to play an amazing game like Steins;Gate, which probably would have sat on my backlog for another few years, has to be the best thing about the challenge. So the two games that ended up being the nail in the coffin were Tales from the Borderlands and Norn9. The first game is currently still at Episode 1/5 completed and due to procrastination fell by the wayside as I tried to finish Norn9 and Final Fantasy VII. With Norn9 I know I could have fast skipped everything, but the story and characters were interesting enough that I actually was reading through everything and got sidetracked. But this is primarily excuses and I own that my time management skills outside of work need some serious improvement. Beyond that, it doesn't help that I completed God of War 3 Remastered and started God of War (2018) when I should have been playing the games for the challenge. But, these two games are going to be the first things I complete before I move into the dual challenge for Summer. Both The Summer Backlog Challenge and Camp Wannalottaplat started on 6/1 (3 days ago). For The Summer Backlog I chose 6 games this time: Anna - Extended Edition Assassin's Creed II Darksiders II Last Rebellion Papo & Yo rain And for Camp Wannalottaplat you only need to finish 3 games and the 'bonus' game. However, my goal is to finish as many of the games I listed (out of 13) in the time frame given: Kingdom Hearts II - PS3 God of War (2018) Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Last Rebellion Tomb Riader: Definitive Edition Tearaway Unfolded Assassin's Creed II - PS3 Puppeteer Darksiders II Dead Space RiME Until Dawn Final Fantasy XV Three of the games cross over between events so they are guaranteed to be beaten. Therefore, I plan to finish three separate games to fully 'complete' the challenges. (Thinking KH II, God of War, and RiME. With FFXV being the bonus game) If I have any time left after beating those, will try and get Until Dawn and Tomb Raider finished as well. So long post this week, gotta set my goals high and hope that things go better this time around. Until next week, happy hunting.
Kittet3
Oh I just recently completed Papo and Yo and Rain from my backlog as well! You'll have fun with those and don't let the second playthrough cleanup intimate you, it actually goes a lot quicker then you'd think. (DON'T use chapter select for your first play through of Papo and Yo. I made that mistake) But, Anna-Extended Edition is the bane of my existence. I've never questioned a game's programming so much. Did I get the event? How long have I been idling here? Should I restart, or is it going to give me the event in a minute? Was that what the trophy guide meant? I had to give up that game for my sanity, and not because it's supposed to be a horror game. I'm interested to hear how your experience goes with it.

Thank you for the heads up with Papo and Yo and rain! I got both games because they looked really cool and unfortunately they fell by the wayside with my backlog. I've read some horror stories about Anna and have been dreading starting it, but I am determined to finish all games for this challenge. The trophy guide on another website gives about 20 hours for 100% complete, hoping to get a free day from work and hammer it all out. Will definitely post my thoughts on how it goes though! BlazzingWind
Update 7: RL got extremely complicated and shoved gaming out the window. Worked seven days last week due to a co-worker's sudden departure and was able to get approved for an apartment. Move in date is 7/7 and we have to be out of our current apartment 6/30, so trying to figure out what to do in the interm between moves and get the apartment cleaned and packed. It's been hectic and hopefully will get cleared up soon
BlazzingWind
Update 8: Definitely not getting to my games like I should be. Packing and trying to stay on top of the gaming list that I set for myself. Will start to tackle Last Rebellion tonight to get started with the Summer Backlog. But on gaming news, completed RiME and was absolutely blown away. Such a simple and carefree game that came out of left field at the end to deliver a gut punch that felt right. Suddenly the game is over and I was left thoughtful on the introspectiveness involved in awknowldging sudden loss and finding the strength to move on. A short game that really should have more recognition, definitely happy that I was able to play it. The move in date inches closer and hopefully by next week I will have everything packed and ready to go.
