Popular Post Ghost
Digital Deluxe Edition and Collector's Edition Revealed Spoiler The Digital Deluxe edition of the game ($79.99 MSRP) will include a copy of the game as well as new story chapters with our post-launch DLC series – Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps. That’s right, we’ll be supporting the game post-launch and you’ll be getting three new chapters each with new missions, new villains and characters, and additional suits for Spider-Man. More details on that a bit later down the road. Buyers who pre-order the Digital Deluxe edition will also receive by mail a limited edition collectible pin (only available to residents of US and Canada) featuring Spider-Man as he appears on the cover art for the game. The Collector’s Edition ($149.99 MSRP, while supplies last) includes all of the digital content from the Digital Deluxe Edition, as well as a Steelbook case featuring the iconic white spider, Mini Artbook from Titan Books, and an awesome Marvel’s Spider-Man statue by Gentle Giant. Pay extra special attention to the statue though and you’ll notice something is obviously missing. We haven’t revealed the entire statue for the Collector’s Edition, just Spider-Man perched on top of something. What could that be? It’s too spoilery to show you now, but stay tuned! https://blog.us.playstation.com/2018/04/04/marvels-spider-man-swings-to-ps4-september-7-collectors-digital-deluxe-editions-detailed/ Screenshots captured from the PS4 Pro ? Spoiler 114 Rapid FireQuestions about Spider-Man Game Informer's Exclusive Hands-on Spoiler - As promised, webs do stick to buildings when you throw them out and physics are an important factor. Where you leave the swing changes Spider-Man’s trajectory. If you leave at the bottom of the swing you move farther forward. If you leave on an upward trajectory, Spider-Man flies higher. You can also press web-zip without having a web attached to a building to make Spider-Man throw out two webs and pull himself forward, and you can use that maneuver to make sharp turns, or even U-turns. - Spider-Man can also perch atop tons of specific points on buildings and street signs and use them as launch-pads, or just as a place to sit and take in the city. He can also run along walls and parkour over obstacles. Perches are highlighted by small white circles in front of you, giving you a quick but clear understanding of what you can latch onto or fling off of. If Spider-Man is running up a wall and you jump at the top of the building at the right moment, he will vault over it in an impressive arc. - These are just some of the baseline maneuvers Insomniac introduced, promising that plenty of unlocks and upgrades will surface over the course of the game to improve his movement. Even with a Spider-Man who wasn’t fully powered up, though, moving through the world was incredibly fast, fluid, and fun. - when it comes to web-swinging specifically, is to make sure Spider-Man never slows down or stops. Combining web-swinging, web-zipping, the ability to pull into a full dive, and the assorted perch and launching options mean that once you get into the rhythm of movement, you feel unstoppable. Even actions like needing to make a sharp turn, or needing to turn around entirely, felt fluid and did not interrupt the flow of movement. Button Layout: R2 - The button is contextual. It shoots out webs for swinging when you're in mid-air, or you can hold down the button to run along walls or perform parkour while on the ground. X - Jump. You can also use it to exit a swing or press it at the top of a wall-run to leap over a building. Additionally, in mid-air, you can use it to web-zip to gain speed by shooting out a web in front of you. You can also hold the control stick in your desired direction, tap X to web-zip so Spider-Man can make sharp, or even U-turns. L2 and R2 - Pressing L2 and R2 at the same time will make Spider-Man zip to a perch point, which are represented as white circles on the U.I. while you're swinging. You can leap from a perched position by hitting X, and if you do it quickly it does not interrupt your flow. L2 - Holding down L2 makes everything go into slow motion so Spider-Man can aim for specific perches. This ability will likely lead to other maneuvers, but this was what we mainly used it for. L3 - Holding down L3 makes Spider-Man go into a dive, which is perfect for gaining speed to enter a swing. O - Holding down O while running to the corner of a building will make Spider-Man grab onto the side of the building with a web and make a sharp turn. The Combat: - The combat is fast, aerial, and does not rely on extensive combos. Instead, it’s about managing the group around you, jumping between enemies, and dodging attacks with the aid of spider-sense. You build up a power meter to pull off finishers similar to the way you do in the Batman: Arkham games, and you can also work gadgets into the combat (which we will detail more in an online feature soon). Much like the web-swinging, there is an undeniable rhythm to fighting and it feels great. Spider-Man is an acrobat, and that aspect of his heroism feels properly integrated into his need to punch faces. Holding down the punch button launches enemies into the air, and throwing out webs to pull off swinging kicks is useful and encouraged. There is an assorted amount of environmental hazards (a barrel, a vent cover, a wooden pallet, etc.) that you can use with your webs and swinging it around your head to smash it into a single enemy. You could also pull of a similar maneuver with grenades to send them flying back where they came from. Exclusive Interview With The Man Playing Spider-Man The Gadgets, Suits, And Sidequests Of Spider-Man How Combat Works in Spider-Man The Little Touches in Spider-Man Everything We Know About Peter Parker and His Alter-Ego in Spider-Man - Photo mode will be included - Peter Parker will be able to craft his own alternate suits, and they’re a mix of outfits inspired by comics, film, and original designs. While Insomniac isn’t ready to share the exact number, they did say that there are “lots of looks” available in the game. Another interesting detail is that the suit you opt to wear will be displayed in cutscenes. - Black Cat will also be “involved” in the game, but there is no further info on what role she’ll play. - We also get confirmation that the game will run at 4K (the method of upscaling wasn’t specified) and HDR on PS4 Pro, and standard PS4 will also support HDR. Both platforms will get a 30 FPS frame rate. It’ll be “just like Ratchet & Clank.” Edited April 17, 2018 by Kratos GameInformer coverages added

Miles_Warren
Hopefully Miles Warren aka the Jackal makes an apperance as a villian. I won't hold my breath though... Great news though about the September 7th release date. I had holidays from work booked that week. How convenient ?
Shinobi
I was hoping for it to come out in June or July but glad to see a release date nonetheless. Edited April 4, 2018 by Shinobi

I’m sure this Spiderman thing will be fine, (the graphics seem nice, though the trailer did seem very quick-time-eventy), but Insomniac are a fantastic developer and I’m genuinely excited for them to get back to doing their own original stuff. I understand that they needed to do a cash-grab after Sunset Overdrive and Fuse didn’t exactly set the world on fire, so they were not in perfect shape, but with Disney money being the marketing of this one, they will be flush with cash and riding high sales-wise i’m sure. That is a recipe for some awesome Insomniac original game if ever I saw one

jacks
Probably springing for the physical collector's. Really hope the statue is cool, but unless it's not even Spider-Man related, then I'm sure it'll be great. Very weird to announce the premium edition of the game with half of the contents of it to be "revealed at a later date", though. While no one's holding a gun to my head to put down the cash now, I guess I just don't see that very often where even the main feature of these things (i.e., the collectible statue) is "to be announced". Ghost
Preview embargo has ended. Here's a round up of previews *thanks Toumari* Nerdist: https://nerdist.com/spider-man-ps4-hands-on-preview/ Quote By this point, Spider-Man felt so complete that we jokingly asked the developers to just send it home with us. It has almost everything that anyone could have wanted from a Spider-Man title, and we’ve barely scratched the surface of it. Some aspects of the gameplay remind us of the classic Spider-Man 2for the Playstation 2, but refined to a much higher level. As excited as we are to finish playing through Spider-Man, the prospect of DLC and continuing missions is almost as enticing as the main game itself. Insomniac’s Spider-Man is so enjoyable that we don’t want to put it down any time soon. This is the comic book world that we want to live in, and it may be a real contender for video game of the year. Eurogamer: https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018-08-02-marvels-spider-man Quote Ultimately, all the ingredients seem to be here for a superior Spider-Man experience. Playing through the first two hours of Marvel's Spider-Man reminded me of the first time I played Arkham Asylum or saw Guardians of the Galaxy in the cinema. These were deep, complex worlds I'd known for a long time on paper, and it feels exciting to see them opened up for new audiences and players. Spider-Man really seems to be having a moment right now, with new Marvel films coming up and Into the Spiderverse possibly going further into the wider multiverse lore than mainstream ever has before, it feels like Insomniac's take will be another possible entry point for new fans. Hollywood Reporter: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/h...r-man-is-definitive-spidey-video-game-1130566 Quote The world that is crafted by Insomniac Games is truly beautiful, a lushly rendered mashup of Marvel's version of New York and the fantastical sense of urgency and urban power the real-life eastern metropolis evokes. Equally stunning is the character rendering, hyper-realistic at times (pores can be seen on character's faces) and yet still maintaining that brightly colored, saturated comic book vitality. From Spidey's suits to villains' iconic uniforms to a sunset framing the jagged skyline of Manhattan as Parker looks down from the apex of Avengers Tower, the game has a warm, understated allure that draws the player in and beckons them to explore. PushSquare: http://www.pushsquare.com/news/2018...haping_up_to_be_the_best_spider-man_game_ever Quote The bottom line is that, even this early, we’re confident in saying that Insomniac's made the best ever Spider-Man game here. It may well subscribe to every open world trope under the web-spinning sun, but when the end-product is this polished and consistent then that’s not such a bad thing. Frankly, you’ll already know whether you want this game, but we’re more than happy to confirm that it meets expectations with aplomb. Shacknews: https://www.shacknews.com/article/106456/marvels-spider-man-hands-on-preview-with-great-power Quote With fluid movement, freeflowing combat, and a massive New York playground to swing around in, Marvel's Spider-Man is looking to be one of the best games ever to feature everyone's favorite webhead. The still image is always of Spider-Man, and he wears the suit you are currently using during play. Customization I dove into all of the menus to see how much of the game can be tweaked mid-play. Photo mode wasn’t active during my demo, but it appears most of the other settings were. Saving You can create six different save files in Spider-Man. While it appears auto saving occurs often (even at key points mid-mission), you can also manually save the game whenever you want. You can also load from your last save point should you run into trouble or want to retry a particular sequence. Difficulty From the outset of play, you are asked if you want to play the game on the Friendly, Amazing, or Spectacular difficulty level. Despite the somewhat intimidating name, Amazing is the default difficulty setting. Spectacular features stronger and more aggressive enemies. If you find one of these settings is a little too difficult or easy, you can switch it at any point during play. Gameplay I didn’t have any issues with the camera at any point during play, but players can change the look sensitivity, the follow camera, and swing camera motion. Audio In addition to typical sliders for sound and music, and a subtitles option, Spider-Man offers a variety of listening modes. You can select mixes for home theater, television, headphones, maximum, and midnight. Video If you aren’t a fan of the film-like qualities Insomniac uses and would rather have a cleaner view of the action, you can turn off motion blur, film grain, and chromatic aberration (a film effect filter that makes things slightly out of focus on the corners). You can also turn off HDR and tweak the brightness levels. Edited August 2, 2018 by Ghost
