Healer race?

My friends were talking about starting this game and they said some class are race specific.  I was wanting to make a demon grill, but also heal because it's what I do.  So can I make a demon healer?

Demon? I think you are talking about the Castanic that could look evil. imho Elin are more demonic little things...anyways, no the only gender/race specifics are

 

1. Reaper and Ninja is limited to Elin
2. Gunner is limited to Castanic Female, High elf Female, and soon to be Elin
3. Brawler is limited to Human Female, Human Male some time in the future
4. Valkyrie is limited to Castanic Female
All original classes have no race/gender lock.

Also, I hope your friend is NA too, there is no region select like XIV, you cannot play cross regions either.

Thanks for the info.  I was at work and couldn't look into it.  I play SCH in XIV, so I'm thinking Mystic might be up me alley.

The gunner and the Valkyrie are not in the game right now... right?

No, not for console yet, but it will come in the next 6months... The devs mention they wanted to push it out in that time frame. But will be with the same gender/race lock as PC. PC TERA already has a new big update coming April 17th. Soooo much class skill change.
