Vergil
The new God of War for PlayStation 4 sold 3.1 million units worldwide in its first three days of release (from April 20 to 22), and has become the fastest-selling PlayStation 4 exclusive title, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced. Here is a message from Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica Studio head Shannon Studstill below: “I would like to personally thank the millions of fans around the world who decided to embark on Kratos’ latest adventure with us. Your support is truly inspiring, and it’s a reason why we push ourselves every day to go beyond the boundaries of play. I’d also like to thank our Creative Director, Cory Barlog, and Director of Product Development, Yumi Yang and our entire amazing team at Santa Monica Studio. The belief in the game’s vision and the passion for storytelling across the team is undeniable. We look forward to hearing more about how fans are creating new memories of their favorite God of War gameplay moments that will be remembered for a long time.” Read more at https://gematsu.com/2018/05/god-of-war-sold-3-1-million-units-in-three-days-becomes-fastest-selling-ps4-exclusive#QzlD35MAIT5YGqtg.99
Bullstomp
Fucking well deserved, if this game doesn't win Game of the Year I will cry conspiracy. I truly feel this is the best game I have played since Demon's Souls (yes, I went there :-P) Remember last year when EA said single player games aren't as popular as 10 years ago shortly after closing Visceral? https://www.oneangrygamer.net/2017/11/ea-cfo-blake-jorgensen-falsely-claims-gamers-less-interested-single-player-games/45355/ I forwarded this article to those @$$holes. You only pay for a single player game once, you pay for EA games many times over. On top of that, it takes a huge amount of talent and time and money to make a game that would compare to God of War. I mean Ni No Kuni 2 is a decent single player game, and its sales are nothing compared to this. So in a way EA is still right, but the problem is that it all comes down to trying to make all the money, rather than just trying to make money.

What EA's saying is not that single-player games don't sell, it's that they cost a lot more and take longer to make, demand more talent of their creative teams, and most importantly... there's a cap on how much money they can make from it. With single-player experiences, you pay for the game and that's it, you're done. What EA wants is for you to pay up-front and then keep on spending more. We'll see how much money they'll make in the future when everyone's trust in them is reduced to a pile of ash. On topic, I was kind of hesitant about trying out this game because of how different it was from the 6 originals, but my curiosity keeps growing larger and larger. I ordered it from Amazon this week, let's see how it holds up.
Valyrious
Seemed obvious that it was going to sell well. Practically everybody bought the game. Either way, very happy for Sony Santa Monica. This game brought them back up there with Naughty Dog for the best developers in the world.

Well, Ni no Kuni 2 didn't sponsor a commercial free Family Guy. God of War did. Sony spend dat $$$ to advertise this. Bamco didn't do shit to advertise Ni no Kuni 2 to the masses. That's probably why they didn't advertise it like god of war. Edited May 3, 2018 by rolltideroll157

Bamco could've done more for it. Not sure what it's sold though, maybe it's done fine off what they did do (which from what I've seen is just social media stuff). I'm not sure what the other game you speak of is but any anime/Japanese heavy game is not going to sell great in the west with the exception of final fantasy. That's why the developers don't spend money to advertise it everywhere.

I know this very well, i guess i just used the wrong expression. Sure they are right that they can make more money with multiplayer games and with microtransactions, but by doing that they ruin the game industry and they also scam people out of their money with lootboxes and such. They have the license to make Star Wars games and what we got? two shitty battlefront games, which are a disgrace to the originals and they also shut down that uncharted like Star Wars project because they can make more money with (shitty) multiplayer games... So anyway, it is a good thing that God of War is sucessfull, because it will encourage Sony to invest more money in single player story focused games and hopefully other publishers as well. I love single player gaming and i dont want it to disappear in favor of more profitable multiplayer games.

SnizelPS
Such a good game, even after plating i went back to mop up some minor stuff to reach 100% This is the only game where i actually collected all the stuff without any guide (excluding some 2 nasty realm tear locations) and completed all side content by the end of the story missions. Eveything is built so great that if you explore and take your time in areas, you won't miss anything. it felt awesome.
