Popular Post Crispy_Oglop
Update time! I moved the needle a little bit with Yakuza 5 bringing it up from around 50% to 70% in terms of progress. At the moment I feel a bit stuck in the mud from a trophy point of view. One of the trophies requires you to reach 100% of in-game completion, which literally means do everything - all of the gambling and club SEGA mini-games, hostess ranking, execute all special moves (a.k.a Heat Actions), consume all food and drink items, fish up all sea and fresh water fish, plus tonnes more. It's the heaviest trophy in the game in that it requires you to complete pretty much everything the game has to offer, and it's a pretty huge game. So most of my progress existed outside of trophies and within that in-game completion percentage, I'm currently sitting at 94% complete, i've done pretty much everything now apart from the last couple of restaurants needed for Food & Drink completion, about 10 missing heat actions to take care of and the Coliseum. The coliseum (which is a big MMA style series of cage-fights) is the real time vampire here, not only do you have to complete it separately with all 4 characters, you also have to spend hours with each of them grinding up the fighting ranks to qualify for and unlock the higher tier matches. Seems pretty straightforward right? I wish that was the case - the real challenge depends on which character you are ranking up in the coliseum, some of the match difficulties and modifiers combined with the moves and combos unique to each character makes this a potential platinum breaker for alot of people. This really feels like the part where quite a few platinum hunters might consider giving up. I say that because I almost gave up myself - I had read that one of the characters - Akiyama - was notoriously difficult to function successfully in the Coliseum - i found folks complaining about it all the way back in the PS3 era where it originally released. And they honestly were not wrong. I think i spent about 7-8 hours with Akiyama just trying to complete the final unlocked match which was made all the more difficult because you basically have to fight 10 or so waves of multiple enemies with the final 3 waves basically being single boss-level opponents, and all with you locked into having less than a quarter health. This match pretty much forces you to be almost perfect in your combat execution for a consistent 10 - 20 minutes of combat. Gruelling and possibly the most challenging thing i've ever had to do between Yakuza 0 and now. I got to a point where I had convinced myself I wasn't going to be able to do it, but I kept going and eventually I finally won the match. It was an amazing feeling, and pretty much proof that if I can do it anyone can. I still have a ways to go with the Coliseum - I'm halfway through it with my 3rd character (Shinada) and I have one last character to go through it with, but after Akiyama I have loads more confidence to get it done. If I keep going on this trajectory and provided I don't need to spend another 7-8 hours on the remaining two characters to get through the coliseum ranking I think i'll be closer to the 90% complete mark before the end of this coming weekend. If I can get that 100% completion trophy done at the very least, it'll be a win in my book. Thanks for reading my Yakuza monologue! Stay safe and keep up with all of your amazing and inspiring progress! Popular Post Gretchen27
@Fnee2000 Glad to hear it ? It’s a chill little event that’s certainly grown over the years. My favorite part is reading about everyone’s quests to completion, even for games I’m not familiar with. It’s motivating to see all the old(ish) games that can get finished in a month or over the course of a year. Wouldn’t wish the burden of keeping track of the year end stuff on anyone. Every time I’ve finished it I have to take a break from the forums. Plus, there’s always this tiny fear I’ll get hit with an image posting limit or something & all of it will be for nothing. @Aviditas90 Well done completing your first two games! Now like an addict, you’ll only feel that thrill again by finishing progressively harder games Keep it up @bruin-rocks L.A. Noire is in a category all its own. I absolutely love it, ended it being my 1st & 100th platinum. Still haven’t played Okami though, but I remember your write up on how much you liked it. Maybe it’ll get a PS5 remaster. @Crispy_Oglop I enjoyed reading your Yakuza 5 post, but it sounds like a break is in order. How about 100% The Evil Within? On the surface that didn't really sound easier, but you’ve accomplished the hardest stuff already. The Executioner DLC can be cleared up relatively quickly following a video guide for the no damage run & a few tries. & if I remember right, torments can be farmed in the training arcade area (forgot what it’s called) in the mansion. Visual novels were surprising for me too when I finally tried them. For someone who prefers a good old pile of wood pulp to text, I didn’t think I’d ever find one I liked long enough to sit through. If you’d care for some recommendations: Death Mark – amazing horror VN that pulled off the horror aspect ridiculous well. I will admit to getting jump scared frequently. Virtue’s Last Reward – more point & click meets escape room. It really shouldn’t be missed as all round game to try. Code: Realize – Guardian of Rebirth – okay, likely not up your alley, but it’s my favorite so I can’t miss an opportunity to suggest it to someone. It is an otome, not fan service heavy as most, set in the historical fiction/steampunk subgenre with fictional & real historical characters. Steins;Gate – because how can this not be suggested when talking VNs? Fair warning, it takes a while for the story to get rolling & thus invested, worth it though. Sci-fi genre. & ones I haven’t tried yet, that have come recommended: Punchline – for a laugh, & not minor appropriate. Muv-Luv – which I think is sci-fi, but I’ve heard it doesn’t really stick to any one genre for long. @Berendsapje Didn’t know The Grand Tour Game was delisted. That’s a shame, I liked its quirkiness. Not those gadget trophies though. & I should probably answer my own questions:Proudest game(s): Monster Hunter World & Batman: Arkham Knight tied for different reasons. I’m proud of MHW because of the sheer amount of hours I put in hunting crowns. Even following the measuring guides, it’s still luck of the draw when you encounter a gold worthy size, & couple that with the difficult of hunting elder dragons (made way easier with Iceborne equipment) it was a long road to plat. & now I get to do it over again with Iceborne. Batman as well I’m proud of when I remember how bad I was at the game. Starting out, if there was a group of enemies, it would be a lot of retries with Alfred, Joker, Riddler, or whomever chastising every death. The combat just didn’t click. I kept jumping back in here & there though because I (in the minority) liked driving the Batmobile, & generally gliding around Gotham. Eventually, I finally was able to earn that plat. DLC is a work in progress. Role on the help front: Sadly lacking there. I joined one gaming session last year for a newer game, so, say I prevented a backlog game. I’m not big on online games, so I see little chance of crossover. But if you see a similar game, don’t be afraid to ask. I don’t trade my games, so chances are it wouldn’t take me long to pull it from the shelf & log on. I did receive help from Fnee2000 in Borderlands (much appreciated!) & my sanity was spared in the buggy Underdome. Memorable moments: Encountered some funny & some frustrating glitches in Borderlands & Just Cause 3. The prize though has to go participating in work calls while playing MHW during work from home. None of you tell my coworkers. As for my gaming plans this year, I’d like to focus on older & more challenging games. Since my list tends to have long RPGs anyway, pulling off another 12 month streak is unlikely. Maybe I'll make a shot at it every few years or so. For now, I plan to work on one tough cleanup game & one I maybe haven't even finished the story yet per system. Vita: Exist Archive - which has a ton of RNG grinding to see the main character learn moves from teammates. & will need at least one full NG+ playthrough with special saves for the other endings. Stardew Valley - the Harvest Moon fix I didn't know I needed. Just going to farm away & enjoy this wonderful game. Though I might have to download it on PS4 for the mini game trophy (bigger screen + my Vita has analog drift). PS3: Star Ocean - not expecting to finish it this year, but I would like to make progress. I'll keep it organized to, marking quests/ items/& such along the way, write down a note for myself of where I'm leaving off. I must have started & restarted this game a half dozen times over the years & making it to about the same spot before putting it back on the shelf & forgetting where I was in it. Ni no Kuni - cute game with a Studio Ghibli art style & story. I've got a long way to go. PS4: Borderlands 3 - I'm really starting to think I can only play one Borderlands game a year. Does this one ever quit getting DLC though? I'll try & at least get the plat, & wait a little longer to find out. NieR: Automata - besides the obviously viscous first boss, I've only been stuck on the current one (some hovering centipede thing in the desert with 9S). Yeah, I know I can put it on easy to basically let the game play itself. Not interested in that, but I would like to finish this one up. I'd also like to start up unplayed games. Been craving handheld gaming now that I got a Switch, & been on a racing kick for the PS4. Plus, my physical Vita titles alone are over 60 now. So my completion might tank this year, especially after my yearly dose of KYC. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing all the challenges everyone will face & overcome with their backlog. Happy gaming!

Popular Post Psy-Tychist
I've finished another game for January. Stories: The Path of Destinies All 38 Trophies 26th January 2021 • Platinum in 4 years, 1 month After a little bit of grinding, I finally had enough points to level up to the max and finish the game. After originally finishing about 9 of the endings and getting the true ending, doing a 30-40min run for each of remaining endings to get the full 25 was a little bit much. I chipped away at it over the years but never really sat down to it until this year and finished the last 6 stories. I do have a couple of other game I have ready to finish from my backlog, but they relate to other events, so saving them for now.
Popular Post JayDeLosDioses
@Gretchen27, can I be added again? I'm currently on the inactive list, but I want to focus more on my backlog games than just adding up new games like last year. Already done two DLC cleanups this year, Borderlands 2 (3 years, 2 months since the last trophy - 5 years, 6 months for 100%) and Horizon Zero Dawn (3 years, 10 months since the platinum and also needed for 100%). Don't think they'll count because I did them even before thinking about this again, but I'll just do more that are eligible
Popular Post SyIaris
Thanks for fixing November! I'll be trying for at least one per month, but we'll see how that goes. At least it wasn't the elevator! Stubborned my way through but lost a sand collectible at some reload or another, though it was certainly easier to start over and grab them all without limited rewinds. With the audio being a broken mess and no subtitles available, I missed nearly the entire story. Gameplay hasn't aged terribly well either, but I suspect that has more to do with changing the aspect ratio - even if there is some of the "I wasn't aiming you in that direction?!?!" still present in early Assassin's Creed titles to suggest it can't be fully to blame. Didn't get much out of it aside from a nice little pile of gold trophies, but I think it's more the port than the game itself. Hopefully the other games in the series are better, this one was a letdown. I really want to like them... Popular Post Crispy_Oglop
I finally finished off Yakuza 5 making it my 167th Platinum, yay! I love this franchise so much and can't wait to play the next two games in the series. It took a bit longer than I anticipated, but once I cleared the coliseum requirements i mentioned in the previous post, it was pretty much plain sailing to the 100% goal. I'm definitely going to start Yakuza 6 this year but I don't really want to rush it as there aren't many entries left in the franchise either. @Gretchen27 - The last few DLC trophies for The Evil Within could really work as my next goal - I think I'll add that. I can't remember why I dropped the game in the end so close to the 100%. I'm not sure if I'll have it done before the end of January as we're so close, but I can always move it into February if needed. REAPER4536
I am taking a break from trophy hunting for a couple of months. University is draining too much time now and I can't even handle normal playing Exams will be done by march so it's likely that I won't have much progress in the next 3-4 months (January included). If a server shutdown creeps around the corner I will be back lol. Popular Post JayDeLosDioses
Not entirely sure if non - platinum games are eligible, but nevertheless. I've completed Monopoly Plus in 3 years and 3 months. Don't think the game needs a summary, it's Monopoly Bought the Hasbro collection years back in a sale, mostly because of Risk and Monopoly. Can't go wrong with two of the classics. Used the one controller multiplayer "cheat" to boost my player while everything else was just a moving bank for my cash so they can pay rent for the trophy. EDIT: Another one I didn't expect to ever unlock. I've finished 36 Fragments of Midnight in 1 year and 11 months. I was browsing my library for what to do next when I jokingly thought that I could install the game on the PS5; the better console would increase my skill ... Pay2Win in singeplayer games. I know it's an easy jump and run but first of all, I was impatient when waiting for laser traps and second. There's one, well for me it was a harder challenge than all gears in Just Cause 3, you have to drop down a bit to collect a fragment and jump up again before you touch the spikes on the ground. These things are really hard to handle with my disability. Too much moving involved for my brain to handle. It's just a problem in Jump n Runs really, seeing that I can beat the F1 ultimate AI legit without using shortcut cheats. Non-platinum games are referred to as the 100% category in the summaries. & you can bring in games completed while inactive, you just have to list them out for me. A last minute completion myself with Beat Cop in 8 months, 2 days. Rarity 11.59%. Wasn't my intention to finish this so soon. I don't even think I got around to putting it in my eligible list, that's how fresh it is, but I sort of hit a hard place with my milestones. I like to cherry pick those, & before I knew it, 3 are staring me in the face in a very short time. See my 7000th trophy is around the bend, my 125th platinum, & the platinum I like to earn on my birthday. I realized all of that with less than 100 trophies to earn. Ergo, crunch time. My birthday is next week, & I'll be gone on vacation, so it has to be a Vita game. Closest one I figured I could manage was Persona 4: Dancing All Night (still not ready yet). Which I thought would fit well for #125. So I wrapped up Beat Cop this weekend before I leave. I'll need some luck to finish Dancing All Night. Then when I get back, I'll stick to NieR: Automata. The "Final Words" platinum seems a fitting milestone. Ramble over, back to Beat Cop: An impulse buy & play from last year. It was on sale at a convenient time when I felt like playing something retro style. In came Beat Cop, a pixelated point & click adventure game about a detective who is wrongly accused of a robbery & busted back to the beat while he tries to clear his name. Now, I'll be honest. I brute force point & click games when I can't solve the riddles in a few minutes. I waste so much time trying every combo, I grow frustrated with it, & thus, tend to steer clear of them. That's not an issue with Beat Cop. The game revolves around one street in 1986 New York & the pack of characters jammed into it. Dealing with everything from robberies, the mafia, gangs, writing tickets. Oh, the tickets. I probably did 500 of them. Someone: issue me a badge. The game spans 21 days. Which may not sound long, but this must have taken me 15hrs or so. There was plenty to get through, & different routes to take as both a straight or dirty cop. The writing was great in this one. Someone was up on their Dragnet & hard boiled noire. It's got a dark gritty humor that kept the story funny & serious. I'll put this in a spoiler because it teeters on story spoiler territory. Spoiler But one thing I can't get over though is: I never solved my own case. Even after completing all 4 endings & earning the platinum, I don't know how the main storyline finished. Honestly though, it wasn't as interesting as all the other plots it dug up. Overall, I think it was worth the buy. & I'd recommended it for anyone who likes edgy wit. Though this is deservedly an M rated game. Also, I'm the 39th achiever on this site for completing it. I don't think that's ever happened. But hey, no one but me has played the U.S. version in 2 months. Shame. It was a fun game. Im only at about 44 games and a few of them won't qualify

That's just on your PS3 list.

I used to have the very bad habit of installing a game, then earn a trophy to make it show on the synced list, rinse & repeat.. then promptly forget about them. Which has resulted in me having a backlog from hell, lol On the plus side, this year I have no excuse for not finishing at least one old game every month, the ones you have listed are a nice starting point, so many thanks for that. ?? Popular Post JayDeLosDioses
Another one completed for me: Eekeemoo: Splinters of Dark Shard in 1 year and 2 months. It's a fairly easy Jump n Run / Hack n Slay game once you get into it. Pretty sure I just picked it up with a bunch of other games in a sale and never really got into it until now. Not entirely sure what to play next, maybe grab the PS3 and get Skyrim and AC2 done.
