“What the Hell Is That Still Doing There” Backlog Event Ver. 3.0

END OF YEAR SUMMARY

(skip if you do'nt care, hehe)

 

Hellow everybody, 

since I don't think I will complete any game this month that is viable for this (currently playing Skyrim, Iron Harvest and Dark Souls 3 again (just for fun) I thought that I'll do a summary. Maybe I'll complete Godfall, I'll just edit the numbers if so.

 

First of all, big thanks to @Gretchen27 for hosting all of this and keeping the OP up to date as good as possible. Can't really imagine how time consuming it is to get all the spoilers, pictures and everything. And it probably gets worse over time. So as I said, thanks for keeping us organized  if you ever need a hand let me know

Second shoutout goes to @roxas1233 the reason I've got my Bloodborne and Sekiro plats this year. Thanks for getting me motivated to get those two games completed alongside you. Bloodborne I might have done, but Sekiro - never ever.

And final shoutout, surprise surprise, @Fnee2000 for helping me with as many coop / multiplayer related trophys as he can. Online trophies suck much less if you know you already know you have someone to do them with before starting a game. We've come a long way from our first Borderlands 3 run together .

 

But let's get to the games:

Completed games / DLC: 33 (34 on my personal to-do, but one wasn't "old" enough)

Longest completion time: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim [6 years, 9 months]

Shortest completion time: Yu-Gi-Oh! Legace of the Duelist: Link Evolution [6 months, 1 day] and Zombie Army 4: Dead War [6 months, 1 day] 

Most proud of: Sid Meisers Civiliazation VI [1 year, 4 months] to this day I'm still the first achiever for 100%, not only on PSNP, if I'm not mistaken, worldwide. At least the rarity jumped to 0.1% when my final trophy unlocked.

Least proud of: GRID [10 months, 1 week] I've rubberbanded over 150h for this trophy. I don't like autopop and afk trophies, and this one took the cake. After getting everything done the game had to offer, all season pass content, all base game content, I was still over 85% away from Around the Globe. That's just a major misjudgement of content to trophy ratio.

Enjoyed the most: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice [2 years, 4months] had to think about this one for a while, but Sekiro takes the cake over F1 2020. Once I got into the game and got the timing for deflections right the game was a lot of fun. The grind for experience points in the end wasn't to bad either, a few hours maybe, but with a good playlist / movie, that's not to bad. F1 2020 lost out because of it's online part and the enjoyment killer that are salty drivers who take you out.

Enjoyed the least: Letter Quest Remastered [4 years, 2 months] this one takes the cake over GRID and Yu-Gi-Oh for the sole reason that both games only have a boring grind, while the main content is quite fun. Letter Quest was just boring and with English not being my native language, I had to look up many many words to deal enough damage in the levels.

Hardest game: Demon's Souls [6 months, 1 week] never played the original version, I've discovered the Sekisoulsborne series when DS2 was released. The amount of things you can mess up with tendencies is crazy. Checked the guide a lot. Also NG+ with even less health because the character is pure black isn't fun either. Many missable boss related trophies aswell.

Easiest game: Eekeemoo: Splinters of Dark Shard [1 year, 2 months] nothing hard in this game, don't know why I stopped for over a year.

 

Overall I'm quite happy with 2021 gaming wise. As mentioned above, I've managed to finish 34 games out of 50. 

Didn't quite reach my completion % goal of 90% and I totally missed the mark with unearned trophies, that pretty much stayed as it was (not counting Skyrim and Iron Harvest into that since I've recently started them)

The games that I'll carry over into 2022 are:

PS3: DS2 and AC2

PS4: AC Valhalla (milestone stack, don't know which one yet), Anthem, Ark, Dungeons 2, Dying Light (DLCs), FF12, GreedFall, Gris, Heavy Rain, Lego Movie 2, Minecraft Dungeons (DLCs), Rune Lord, Steins Gate:0, Trackmania Turbo, 

I'll think about which 34 other games are going to fill the empty slots now. Elden Ring, Forbidden West and GT7 are set if they don't get delayed (again), but there are still 146 uncompleted games on my profile, more than enough to create a enjoyable To-Do list imo.

 

To end this wall of text I'd like to thank each and every one who's participating and sharing. I've said it before, it's nice to read about games from other perspectives, get some recommendations for games you've never heard about, get some tips & tricks for others. My friends slowly start to enjoy getting platinums themselves, but it's still something different in a forum full of like-minded people.

 

Keep the backlog small but more importantly stay health everyone.

Finishing one more game goes for myself as well, of course. I’ve found more time for gaming lately, even finishing my first game since March (it didn’t qualify for this event though). Even if it’s a simple VN, I’m going for one more this year.

 

On the updating side: The date on the Form is updated for this month, so don’t forget to log those completions! I’ll probably get all the inactive people moved tonight. & there’s still no plans to make the usual year end summary since I’m working. It’ll have to be something simple like the monthly ones, I’d encourage you all to share a wrap up of your own similar to Jay’s or the Year End Awards though. I’ll pose a few questions to consider:

• What was your most difficult or proudest completion this time around for 2021?
• Were there any backlog games that have stubbornly clung to unfinished status once again?
• What are your top targets per systems owned in 2022?
• Any online trophies left in the previous generations to work on?

Woo hoo! After 8 years, I finally platinumed Sniper Elite V2! Doing 3 Overwatch and 10 Bombing Run missions solo (co-op with a second PS3) was not fun. Not terrible, but not fun either.

Damn. I felt epic after completing Sniper Elite V2 in just eight years. Damage_6_9 completing Fill-a-Pix: Phil's Epic Adventure in under two years blew me out of the water.

 

I'm changing my location to "crying in fetal position under the desk". I don't think I can compete with this level of mastery in a mere 22 days! It took me eight years to get where I am now!

BioShock 2 Remastered All 54 Trophies 10th December 2021 • Completed in 4 years, 11 months

 

Always thought BioShock 2 was the worst one of the series, but when playing through the game twice I kinda fell in love with it. Still don't think it is as good as Bioshock 1 or infinite but nevertheless a really good game.

I'll search for them in the Form responses in case I missed them, but if they were not submitted, then no, they wouldn't have been added in. 

 

I've been considering updating the Form or creating a seperate one for situations like this. It'd could be useful for missed submissions or returning participants.

I would hope this comment was meant in good humor, & not as veiled disrespect. This is not a competitive event for openly demeaning judgement to be passed. Participants are required to be respectful here, as in the rest of the community. On this, I have zero tolerance.

All good fun! I thought that was clear from the context, but apparently not. damage__6_9 has completed 1,146 games to 100% completion; I have yet to hit 300. damage has 1,097 platinums; I have 232. He finished his game in less than two years; it took me over eight! I was poking fun at my finely honed skills of procrastination. Have mainly played short, ezpz games over the last few years due to working 12hr shifts, thus having little time or brain power to commit to longer games.

 

btw, thanks for reminding me of V2's existence in my backlog, really should have a crack at finishing it .... been sitting there for 9 years now. ?

V2 is a great little game. Like many games from that period, the developers were obsessed with collectibles. For whatever reason, Rebellion felt that a WWII sniper/stealth game required 100 gold bars and 37 red wine bottles. Thank God for YouTube and PowerPyx. If you have two PS3's you can complete all the co-op missions in Overwatch and Bombing Run solo, although it is more than 2X as fast to do it with another live humanoid.

I'm done it! I've finally gone and finished Knack! I had to do 4 and a half playthroughs to get the game done and I never want to see that game again! I enjoyed the first two runs but hard and v. hard mode drove me crazy!

Good to hear, no worries then. I apologize for interpreting the comment harshly. After one to many intolerant encounters, I've lost my own patience because generally, gaming communities have not been friendly or appropriate to me. This forum has been the exception & I'd like it to stay that way.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Remastered 51 of 54 Trophies 4th December 2021 • Platinum in 5 years, 11 months

 

Crushing difficulty was not too bad, just a few frustrating fights. No way I'll be attempting the Brutal difficulty though, I do not have the time or the patience ?

 

Not sure if I'll get another game done this month, I'm progressing a bunch of atm: Detroit: Become Human, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, The Sims 4, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and Volume, but not sure if I'll actually finish one ? even if I don't I'll probably do another post so I think about my 2022 goals!

Glad to have this one off the backlog, finally. Really enjoyed the story, for both the good and evil sides. This game was released back in '09 so the gameplay mechanics in some areas was super annoying, but overall really enjoyed it. Looking forward to completing the rest of the inFamous franchise.

Congrats. inFamous was a lot of fun, save for that one collectible shard that didn't show up on the mini-map because it was so high up the tower. For the time, the graphics were amazing.

Not sure I'm going to get any backlog games done this month ? Thought I was going to have lots of gaming time while bedridden post surgery, turns out surgery recovery is painful af and I've been doing nothing but sleeping this last week. If I ever get back to normal before the end of the month I might try to finish up The Grim Fandango. Gotta restart it to play on tank controls but I heard it's only about 3 hours long with a guide?

Final Update for the Month

 

I'm gonna be traveling for the next two weeks pretty heavily, so I don't believe I'll get anything else done.  Below are the games I played this month, and my thoughts.

 

Welcome Park (Qualifies/Finished)- I really feel like they could have done a better job showcasing the Vita's special abilities, but then again, the gimmick's of the Vita are the things I like the least about it.  i haven't played much with the other features of it though so maybe I just forgot it was more fun than it is.

 

Ghost of Tsushima (Doesn't Qualify/Finished)- Loved this!

 

Freedom Wars (Qualifies/Won't Finish)- I don't like this game.  I tried, really.  This time was the time I put the most effort into it.  I don't like quest driven games, but honestly, had this been on the PS4, I think it would have stood a better chance.  Bad fit for the handheld, imo.

Another small update for December. 

Still working on Bioshock infinite to get the 100% for the entire collection but took a little break off to do some surviving mars DLC (the season pass is on sale).

One super long surviving run later and the Green Planet DLC is done and Mars now has breathable air and a lot of lakes and trees.
