Greetings!

 

Bienvenidos a mi checklist, or as I'd rather call it, my gaming journal. After seeing and reading some of the trophy checklists on this site, I decided it'd be a great idea to have something of my own. However, instead of seeing it as a checklist or as a list of things pending to do, I rather see it as a journal of my activities as a gamer. Don't get me wrong, this thread will also contain information on what I will be playing, what games I have in the pipeline, my backlog, goals, and objectives. As a gamer, I'm open to playing any kind of genre or type of game. My favorites genres are driving/racing, RPGs (particularly JRPGs), action-adventure and platformers. Least favorite would be Sports simulation but that doesn't mean I wouldn't play it.

 

Since this is a journal, I will be recounting each of the games I have been through with a brief opinion on what I thought about the game and its trophies. Also, I might share fun facts and interesting tidbits of information on what happened to me during my trophy hunting journies. Will be keeping a copy of this on my PC and here just to recount my personal memories from time to time. I'm also interested in hearing other people's opinion and listening to their feedback about this journal. Also, please take in mind that most of the games you will see in this journal are old or way past their prime. My apologies for that. I also don't have as much time to play as I'd like to, so expect progress and updates to come at a snail's pace.

Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

Planned as my 100th Platinum. Not only was the game that made me love the series but I have been through so much with it. I have gone through 3 HDDs corruption, 1 lost save file and have done all the license tests, specials events, and A-Spec endurance races twice. Right now, the only thing that I'm missing is getting gold on 2 of the Red Bull X events and doing the 24-hour endurance race on the Nurburgring... again.

 

Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3)

Missing almost all of the online trophies. Could do them but haven't found the time nor the motivation.

 

Vanquish (PS3)

Still hate you Challenge #6!!!! For the love of $%&?¡}

 

Dyad (PSN)

Really liked this game. It'd be a matter of putting more time into it.

 

Darkstalkers Resurrection (PSN)

Same as the one above. Missing some of the trials for some characters as well as the online matches and clearing both games without losing. As the self-proclaimed "Ultimate Felicia Fan" I find it unacceptable to not have the 100% in this game.

 

Battlefield Bad Company 2 (PS3)

Missing most of the online trophies. Would like it to get it done before jumping into the other games in the series.

 

Dirt 3 (PS3)

Same as before. Although, I'd like to note out that I had a lot of problems with the online in this game back then. I remember having done the requirements for a number of trophies and couldn't get any of them to pop for whatever reason. 

 

Test Drive Unlimited 2 (PS3)

Online comes and go. Missing most of the online trophies here as well. I actually liked the racing in this game. Everything else was Meh!

 

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift (and its Extended version) (PS3)

One of my favorite fighters of this past generation. Loved the art style, the rockin' soundtrack and how each fighter feels so unique. Would like to get both games done... even though, again, I suck at fighting games.

Platinum #1 - Resident Evil 5 (PS3)

 RESIDENT EVIL 5  Platinum Trophy - Congratulations! You've overcome all your fears in RESIDENT EVIL 5!

 

The first one is quite special actually without me even planning it. Here's a little backstory. I originally got my PS3 because I wanted to impress a girl I liked during college. She was quite the fan of the RE series and she had been playing PlayStation consoles for a long time. Had a Wii at the time and got RE4 for it. Things weren't going smoothly at the time but I eventually got to date the girl. We had a lot of things in common. Months later, I got the PS3 and RE5 was one of the first games I got for it. What better way to impress the gamer girl you love than to show her favorite game series in glorious HD? Exactly! We obviously played cooperatively from start to finish. Game is pretty much made with that in mind. Years have passed since then... The girl I talked about is now my spouse.

 

Platinum #2 - Singularity (PS3)

Platinum Singularity - You collected all the trophies for Singularity

 

One of the first pre-owned games I got. Went into it without even knowing what it was about, I just thought the cover art looked cool. Pretty impressed with the game overall, I know it wasn't as polished as the other FPSs of the time but the time manipulation mechanic was really interesting and fun. Too bad it is mostly context sensitive but still, the weapons were cool, the perks were useful, the TMD and its abilities were great and the story was somewhat thought-provoking. The biggest drawback of the game was it's somewhat grindy multiplayer which had a lot of issues even then. Playing the 100 Extermination matches was a pain at the time without boosting as people rarely played this game online. Also, fuck the Zek and its sniper barrel technique. If you played online, you know what I'm talking about.

 

Platinum #3 - inFamous (PS3)

inFamous Platinum Trophy - Collect all other inFamous trophies.

 

I thought this game sounded pretty cool for what it says on the back cover and, I mean, who doesn't want to be a superhero and shoot lightning and shit? That sounds awesome. Sadly, the game came out a little bit bland for me. The story was cool enough and the powers as well but the city felt generic. Also, collecting the shards was boring even with your sonar-like ability. There were too many of them!!! Anyways, the game was ok but not as good as I was expecting. Did 2 playthroughs, one as a goody two shoes and one kicking everyone in sight. I usually like to play as a good guy but had to admit that causing mayhem was fun.

 

Platinum #4 - Dead Nation (PS3)

Romero Would be Proud - Collect All Trophies

 

Got this one as part of Sony's Welcome Back Program from when they were hacked back in 2011. Needless to say that this is a game that I played a lot with my girl. This is a pretty good twin-stick shooter. Had a lot of fun with the trophies on this one, nothing painful that I could remember. I still play this game with my girl every now and then. We like to go through on either Morbid or Undead just for fun. Think the title of the Platinum is very cool and fitting.

 

Platinum #5 - Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (PS3)

NFS Hot Pursuit Elite - Awarded for successfully collecting all Need for Speed(TM) Hot Pursuit trophies

 

This was a pretty cool reboot for the series. It wasn't a 100% true reboot compared to the original Hot Pursuit but at a very good game nonetheless. Think Criterion did a much better work here than in Most Wanted (2012). Just fast cars, open roads, overly exaggerated drifts and intense, eh, hot pursuits are what define this game. Trophies were a cakewalk. I remember using the Autolog feature heavily to always have the best time compared to my friends at the time. I enjoyed playing most as a racer though and didn't care much about the police events. Favorite car: Porsche 911 GT3. Another fun fact, I love the sexy voice that talks when you are seeing the extra info on the cars. Everything looked and sounded so beautifully at the time, I thought I was watching car porn!

 

Platinum #6 - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3)

Platinum - Platinum

 

Most generic trophy title and description EVUR!!1! Back to the game, it is not as good as the rest of the series and it definitely shows. All is forgiven though, considering it is the first in the series. Characters are still lovable (Sully!) and the action is non-stop. Shooting feels great and cover works, not as good as in the other games, but still very solid overall. My main complaint with the game? Too much green! ... I know it sounds like an IGN complaint but I still think the game has way too much jungle and green scenery overall. Think the later games made a better job of balancing the environments to not make them feel stale.

 

Platinum #7 - God of War III (PS3)

King of the Hill - Unlock all trophies - WWW.SPARTANSSTANDTALL.COM

 

This was the first game GOW I played. Is this the only Platinum out there that advertises a website? Whatever... I thought the game was very good but not excellent. It is one of those weird instances where the combat is great, the setting is fantastic, the production values are top-notch and both the graphics and the sound design come together to create a masterpiece that... just doesn't click on you for whatever reason. My memories of this game are kinda fuzzy, I do remember it was very brutal, which I liked. I remember spamming the Hades' Claws to get the 1000 hit combo and I remember dying thousands of time like an idiot while trying to do the labyrinth trophy.

 

Platinum #8 - Split/Second (PS3)

Completionist - Awarded to players who have earned every other trophy.

 

Had a lot of fun with this game. Really love how it makes you feel like a stunt driver in a movie. The music and constants explosions get the pulse racing and just narrowly escaping a building crushing your car is super exciting. Had to admit that the gameplay is super simple with the drifting and drafting mechanics and the powerplays do get old once you have seen everything on a track but man, getting a jet to crash on a runaway and wiping all your opponents feels great. My favorite events were the survival events in which you need to overtake trucks. Air Revenge and Air Strike with the helicopter are alright. I was on a roll when I got the online trophies in this game. I remember everyone online used the Ryback Firestorm at the time to chain drifts and get a slight speed boost over the competition. I wasn't to keen on that technique and opted to use the Hanzo FX350 to cut away corners like a pro. Got the World Beater trophy very quickly at the time because I was unbeatable at the game. Placed 1st on all the races one after another. Good times man, good times.

 

Platinum #9 - Duke Nukem Forever (PS3)

Savior of the Universe - You got them all!

 

I actually kind of like this game. Got it by pretty cheap at the time and was actually happy with my purchase even though I knew beforehand what I was getting. I know this game is crap but, you see, it is actually a good kind of crap. Ever heard the phrase "So bad it's good". It applies perfectly to this game. I did like the humor and the jabs Duke took at the other franchises. Thought the setting for the game was appropriate. Laughed at the sex jokes and so on. Gameplay is terrible and the graphics are atrocious but the game is fun. I remember the Battlelord in the Dam and the Octaking gave me a lot of trouble on the Insane difficulty. Oh, one thing I totally hated about the game were the absurdly long load times, which were like torture when playing on Insane. I do like the trophy image and the description as well.

 

Platinum #10 - Bioshock (PS3)

PLATINUM TROPHY - Collected all other BioShock trophies

 

A masterpiece of a game. An amazing story on a dystopian underwater city. LOVE IT!!! Game controls a little bit clunky but scavenging every nook and cranny of Rapture for ammo and resources feel so good. The variety of Plasmids and the different ammo types really helped to give a lot of character to the game but one of the things I love the most, besides the thought-provoking story anyway, is the underwater setting and how the game introduces itself. After the bathysphere submerges and Andrew Ryan starts to lecture you on Rapture, the game really hooks you up from that point. Playing on the Survivor difficulty was hard at first but very rewarding in the end. Seeing the "A Man Chooses" trophy before the "I Chose the Impossible" trophy still gives me a warm-fuzzy feeling on the inside as those were the trophies I got just before the Platinum (And "Brass Balls" as well, but well, you get the idea...)

Platinum #11 - 3D Dot Game Heroes (PS3)

Congratulations! - Congratulations! Thank you for playing this far!

 

I really liked this little game. Sure, people say it is a knock-off of the classic Legend of Zelda formula but you know what, it is a good knock-off. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery or so they say and it definitely shows for this game. A cute style with an already established formula. Found the game to be pretty enjoyable overall. Some of the trophies fall a bit on the hard side. Clearing the game without dying and in FROM mode or beating the bosses without taking a hit is pretty manageable. What I found hard though was having to book all the bosses as I clearly remember one of them taking like a bazillion hits with my book in order to register for the Bestiary. Some of the minigames that were required for something else were also kinda hard, particularly the racing and tower defense minigames. Spelunker mode (everything 1-hit kills you) is not that hard as long as you have the Giga Sword maxed out. Nothing quite like entering a room and clearing everything in sight with a quick swipe.

 

Platinum #12 - Sonic Generations (PS3)

All Trophies Collected! - Collect all Trophies.

 

One of the best Sonic games I've played in recent memory. Really loved what SEGA did with this amalgamation of some of the most loved (and hated...) stages from the Sonic universe. Playing both as Classic Sonic on 2-D and Modern Sonic on 3-D feels great. The action is great and the gameplay is solid. Loved some of the remixes here as well. My only complaints with the game is that is was too short and that the final boss battle can be kinda messy. Trophies were very straightforward with nothing too hard, nor too easy. A great experience overall. Hope SEGA revisits this idea with the same team and everything for a future Sonic anniversary.

 

Platinum #13 - Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection (PS3)

Platinuminary - Earn all other trophies for Sonic's Collection.

 

This is a pretty cool collection of classic Genesis title. I didn't own one when I was a child and only had some brief chances of playing Genesis games because my cousins had the console. Everything works as it should on this collection and you can't really beat the value you get here. Game is pretty cheap and you get almost 50 classic games on full HD. Had a blast playing these titles but my main complaint with it is that the trophies don't really push you to go farther in the games. The trophies were way too easy and can be done at the early stages of most games. Only hard ones that required a little bit of effort were Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and VectorMan 2.

 

Platinum #14 - Blur (PS3)

Platinum Trophy - Congratulations!!!

 

I thought this was an excellent arcade racer. It still is one of my rarest Platinums today. Bizarre Creations (RIP) made an outstanding work here. Really liked the way you could use the power-ups in a defensive or offensive way and the ability to stock them and switch on the fly was superb. Liked the smart use of licensed vehicles that handle very differently from each other. Loved the rather aggressive sounding Techno soundtrack featured in the game, which comes turned off by Default for whatever reason. Even the little things, like the ability to restart a race on the fly with a different vehicle was pretty welcomed. Trophies in this game are very varied, especially on the multiplayer, which range from winning a 4-player split-screen race, going through earning the Motor Mash sticker (which none played at the time either) to unlocking Legend mode. The most difficult trophies were getting the challenges done (without boosting at the time) and clearing all the main events on Hard.

 

Platinum #15 - Mirror's Edge (PS3)

I wasn't to keen on the idea of First-Person Platforming but this game really made me change my opinion. The controls aren't the greatest though and Faith has issues latching onto certain stuff. Also, running on first-person kinda limits the perspective of your surroundings, which is always important on any platformer. I really liked the whole clean-looking-corporation-controlled-future aesthetic they went for in the game. The music was pretty good too. There aren't really many games like these out there and the parkour experience it offers is definitely something that needs to be tried out, even if it isn't a 100% polished. Trophies in this game were alright except for a couple of them. Getting 3-stars on the Time trials was pretty hard and the Speedruns, particularly Chapter 2 and 9 will be forever etched in my memory as some of the most frustrating things have done in a game. Overall, some good memories mixed with a lot of frustration with Faith not latching onto stuff or making jumps she was supposed to.

 

Platinum #16 - Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (PS3)

Platinum - Unlock all trophies

 

I really don't have much experience on the classic Castlevanias so I won't be comparing this game with those. I thought this was a pretty good action game for the time. Combat was satisfactory, the setting was appropriate, the story was cool, the music was great and epic sounding for the most part and I think there is nothing else to say other than it is a very good action game. The whole light and dark side mechanic is rather simple but it works for the purpose of the game. The artwork for the trophies is pretty simple and the requirements for them straightforward. Game difficulty is alright, except for the Titan fights. These fights are actually easy but the controls aren't really made up with them in mind for the time trials that are needed to get the 110% completion rate. I'd like to try the second game even though I've heard it is not that good.

 

Platinum #17 - Bioshock 2 (PS3)

Platinum Trophy - Unlocked all trophies

 

Woot!! The sequel to one of my favorites games is...not that good actually. The game definitely falls short compared to the previous one, especially because it lacks the Wow! factor the first one had. It was nice visiting other parts of Rapture and getting to know some of its most deranged inhabitants but the whole argument between Delta and his original little sister was kinda weak. The endings were cool though. Gameplay was largely improved compared to the first game and everything feels just better. Loved the new weapons and the plasmids as well. I actually prefer the small puzzle minigame of the first game compared to what was done here. The biggest downside from this game is the Multiplayer, which totally feels tacked-on. It works properly and has a good number of perks and whatnot but it totally feels not-needed. The worst offender is reaching Level 40. I did it at the time without any kind of boosting and it was a total chore. Also, the pros/hackers/golden-bucket-wearers of this game can snipe you from the other side of the map with a Shotgun. What's up with that?! Anyways, I actually do like the Platinum artwork.

 

Platinum #18 - Batman: Arkham City (PS3)

Platinum - Congratulations!

 

A proper Batman game. Up to this point, I hadn't really played any superhero game that felt as authentic as this one. This game definitely predates on its characters and the setting in which it takes place to deliver one of the most authentic superhero experiences of the time. The combat took some time to get used to initially but I was having blast punching, kicking and just being a badass in no time. Arkham City feels great even if it is a little too small at times. The story was great even with the tragic ending. Getting the last couple of the combat and predator challenges done proved to be very difficult, but nothing that some practice for the first ones and some planning and memorization for the second ones, couldn't solve.

 

Platinum #19 - Demon's Souls (PS3)

Toughest Soul Trophy - All Trophies Obtained

 

My 2nd most favorite game from the series and the one that started a whole new genre. I love how archaic this game is, even for its time, and how little it does to hold your hand after it throws against what appears to be insurmountable odds. I opted to play mostly offline in order to delve deeper into the environment and achieve a higher grade of immersion. This is one of those few games in which making any kind of small progress feels like a huge achievement. Loved every second of it, even the most frustrating ones.

Platinum #20 - Okami HD (PSN)

Top Dog - Acquire all trophies.

 

It was nice to have a chance to play this masterpiece of a game in HD and with trophies. It is usually compared to the TLoZ series but I think the game does quite a number of stuff of its own to differentiate from that other series. The artwork is beautiful, the music is amazing and the story heart-warming (even if it kinda ends on a cliffhanger!). Had already gone through this game on my Wii for quite a number of times so I already knew what I had to do for most of the trophies. Nothing really stands out as difficult and most of the trophies are awarded for story progression and just exploring and taking place in most of the activities the game offers. There is also some collecting involved but nothing too annoying. Overall, an exceptional game that I'd gladly plat again if given the chance. Highly recommended.

Platinum #21 - Superstars V8 Racing (PSN)

You are a Platinum Superstar! - Collect all Trophies.

 

This is from where I went through my phase of cheap PSN games >_> I don't regret my purchases though Tihs was a pretty decent racing game, I mean, nothing spectacular, just an ok racing game. Trophies were a cake walk and nothing actually stands out. If you are ever looking for a racing game mostly focused on racing V8 vehicles across a number of Europe tracks (particularly Italy) then, look no further.

 

Platinum #22 - Alien Breed: Impact (PSN)

The Completionist - Each and every trophy has been awarded. Congratulations!

 

I got this trilogy for a reason and not, the cheap 3 Platinums wasn't a reason for it...not at all. After enjoying Dead Nation with my girl, I thought this game would prove to be similar, you know, a co-op twin stick overhead shooter with aliens instead of zombies. My girl thought the game sucked and she barely played with me at all, so I had to go through the 3 games mostly alone. My opinion on the game? I think it was pretty decent. Sure, it is not as action-packed as Dead Nation but I though the game was enjoyable for short bursts of time. This first entry is the weakest in the series as I remember the gameplay and the weapon feel got better in the later games.

 

Platinum #23 - Crysis (PSN)

Platinum Trophy - Earn all available trophies for Crysis®

 

After hearing so many recommendations for this game, I had to try it myself. To bad the console port is pretty much a mess with constant issues, weird glitches, and whatnot. The game itself is pretty good and I actually enjoyed the ability to customize your nanosuit on the fly to adapt to all the different situations. The abilities were pretty cool as well. Not as cool as the intro though, but still fun to use nonetheless. I went on to play the game on the Delta difficulty and it was excruciatingly hard. Best and most useful weapon was the Sniper Rifle by FAR. It was not too effective against the aliens in later parts of the game but super useful from the beginning. I had a funny glitch on this game in the final chapter in which I was able to jump straight into the final boss without having obtained the necessary weapon to kill it. The game just completely skipped the part in which you go around the aircraft carrier and put me directly outside to fight the alien warship with the regular weapons. Imagine my hours of frustration trying to take out the thing without the proper weapon. After reloading the whole chapter I noticed the game had glitched out on me. Annoying for sure!

 

Platinum #24 - Alien Breed: Assault (PSN)

The second part of this series. Mostly playing alone again. Thought this game had a number of improvements over the previous one. Don't remember anything about the story. Barely remember anything about the game at all. I see the trophies are pretty well varied, from clearing the game on the Elite difficulty to doing a speed run of it and even some other miscellaneous stuff that actually looks kinda fun.

 

Platinum #25 - Alien Breed: Descent (PSN)

The Completionist - Each and every trophy has been awarded. Congratulations!

 

I wonder if the developers thought it would be a cool idea to separate and sell this game into 3 parts?... Final section of this trilogy, the improvements of the previous game continued on this one. Finally managed to get a little more help from my partner this time around. I remember I had to use a second PS3 in order to get the Networking trophy here. I actually remembered that the aliens killed very fast in this game on the hardest difficulties, like they rush and kill you in seconds if they get to melee you. Keeping them at bay and a slow advance to not make them gang up on you was the key to success. Overall, an OK game.

 

Platinum #26 - inFamous 2 (PS3)

inFamous Platinum Trophy - Collect all other inFAMOUS 2 Trophies

 

This game was a pretty good improvement over the first one. Not only the powers feel and look better but I actually liked the characters of Nix and Quo that were introduced here. New Marais had a lot more of personality compared to Empire City. Pretty enjoyable overall. The user-generated missions were a totally missed opportunity and I don't remember anything worthwhile on them. Finding the shards was easier and more bearable on here as well. All in all, a much better game than the first one. Not legendary or super memorable, but pretty well done overall.

 

Platinum #27 - Sound Shapes (PSN)

You've Gone Platinum - Complete all Death Mode and Beat School levels.

 

Easy trophies aside, I thought this was a very fun music-platformer albeit a rather short one. I actually found myself playing some of the community levels for a while after having Platinumed the game. I even went and replayed the original stages for fun quite a number of times. My favorites stages were: Hills n' Spills, the whole Corporeal section, Galaxonoids, Invaderoids and my absolute favorite, Cities. Thought the music was exceptionally good on these particular stages. I don't have any of the DLC trophies because I don't get DLC for any game unless it comes with it in a physical version.

 

Platinum #28 - Devil May Cry (PS3)

Talk about a hard game. The first thing I noticed after playing the original Devil May Cry is that the game definitely exudes a Resident Evil area in many of its aspects. I then learned that this series originally started as a sequel to RE3 and some of the elements from the series were left behind here. Well, it definitely notices. Combat was fun even if it feels kinda old. Found the game to be pretty enjoyable on its normal settings but damn is it hard on the Dante Must Die mode. I originally went for the Dante Must Die difficulty on my 3rd playthrough and I got royally stuck in the 3rd fight against Nightmare. I mean, I couldn't do it no matter how hard I tried. Everytime I tried, I loss. The solution? I did 5-7 more playthroughs of the game on normal in order to farm up healing items and a number of other things. Then went for the Dante Must Die mode again and I found it much more manageable with a shit-ton of stuff to heal.

 

Platinum #29 - Devil May Cry 2 (PS3)

Unlike the previous game, this one feels terrible. There is a HUGE difference between this sequel and the first game. I had heard about it but I never tried myself. Well, everyone was right. This game definitely feels underwhelming. The combat was massively dumbed down and the bosses and creatures all look and feel like, well, like they belong in a bad game to put it nicely. It was a chore to play through this game, don't really have much of a recollection of it. I guess Dante Must Die mode was hard here as well because I have vivid memories of me killing the Nefasturris boss time and time again in order to farm up on something. Bloody Palace mode was also a pain, not only because the whole game and combat feels sucky, but because the progress in it is terribly slow and depending on the random enemies you come across here, you may end being fucked up on floors 7000-8000 if you had the bad luck to come across the most annoying enemies one after another. *sigh*

 

Platinum #30 - Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)

Platinum - Platinum

 

Massive improvement over the first game in the series. The characters are still as likable (if not more) than in the first game but this time around the gameplay received a massive boost in quality. The presentation was top notch as well and the use of varied settings helped the game to not feel stale at any point. Crushing was hard but manageable with the right weapons at the right time. Grenades and cover help a lot too. An excellent third-person action game overall. Really liked that the Multiplayer trophies only make you have a quick taste of one competitive and one cooperative match and that's it.

This was a cool vehicle combat/zombie mayhem/top-down shooter game. Many zombies on screen, it was fun to run over them or to blow them apart with all sort of weapons that could be installed on the vehicles. Nothing particularly memorable about the story, except that *major spoiler* You turn into a zombie at the end! Yikes! *major spoiler*. I like the design of the platinum trophy. Fun times with this one.

 

Platinum #32 - Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (PS3)

The game that closed Nathan Drake triumvirate in the PS3. While I'm not the biggest fan out there of desert environments in video games, I have to say that Uncharted 3 is definitely one of the MUST play series in PlayStation. Hand to hand combat was streamlined and improved even more for this game and the gunplay was the culmination of everything that was done good in the previous games. The characters were excellent, as it is the writing and the actors that perform them. I really can't comment on the Multiplayer because I really didn't play too much of that in the games, only the most basic trophies that were required for the Platinum but, from an outside view, you could also tell that the game didn't disappoint in that department either. My only complaint about this game is that I somehow managed to die a lot more on Crushing than in the previous 2 for whatever reason. Most of the trophies are very straightforward, as with the rest of the series, with the additions of a couple of fun miscellaneous ones, like the one with Drake shouting Marco at a pool in one part of the game.

 

Platinum #33 - MotorStorm RC (PSN)

Is funny that I have all of the MotorStorm games and this is, somehow, the only Platinum I got from the series. While the rest of the even better games that I own haven't been played yet. This was a fun top-down racer. Nothing, in particular, stands out other than being just generally good. Getting all time trials done on the different stages proved a little bit difficult, but nothing that couldn't be handled with some practice.

 

Platinum #34 - Portal 2 (PS3)

Now, THIS is an absolutely unique game. From the witty writing to the unique first-person puzzle platforming, this game definitely delivers on its uniqueness. It has low replay value on its console version though, since once you have cleared all of the puzzles, there is really not much of an incentive to go back and experience it all over again. The only incentive would probably be the history and characters such as GLaDOS and Wheatly, which definitely deliver with all of their dialogues in the game. Most of the trophies were super unique and fun to make them pop, whether if you figured them out yourself or used a guide on the internet. Game is not particularly hard, there are chances to be stuck on a puzzle but nothing that a hard thought process cannot solve. Trial and error also work wonders here. Had a lot of fun playing local co-op with my wife back them. The only trophies that I admit were a pain are Professor Portal, in which you essentially need to advertise and play the game with someone else that hasn't played the game before over the internet and Friends List with Benefits, in which you need to hug 3 random people over the internet. Favorite trophies just for humor factor alone are. The Part Where He Kills You, Tater Tote, Pit Boss and no Hard Feelings.

 

Platinum #35 - Rainbow Moon (PSN)

This was an exceptionally good RPG with tactical elements and an amazingly good soundtrack that only gets dragged down by its generic story and even more generic main characters. At least, the bad guy was kind of funny but the rest of the characters are about as interesting as watching paint dry on a wall. Other than that, the game definitely delivers on the tactical gameplay and on its RPG development. The hunger mechanic may be kind of annoying at first, but it does something interesting to consider while playing. The music in this game is sublime and adds the full fantasy touch to the adventure. All of the trophies are pretty straightforward for an RPG and not particularly exciting. Thankfully, the grind was kept to a minimum once you reach a certain dungeon in the game. Great game overall.

 

Platinum #36 - Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (PSN)

It was nice to play a new and improved version of the classic Counter-Strike formula. Too bad I was never too much into the scene of competitive online/LAN play but this game completely delivers with its classic terrorists vs. counter-terrorists formula. Playing with the AI was kind of fun as well but it is certainly not its strongest point in the long run. Most of the trophies can be done offline easily with the exception of a couple of them that could be easier done online. Namely, Bunny Hunt (as the AI never really jumps, except on one stage in which you could sometimes catch them when they hop down a platform) and Rampage! (which can be hard even on the easiest difficulty).

I did manage to pull them all offline though, thankfully.

 

Platinum #37 - Anarchy: Rush Hour (PSN)

This is a sure candidate for the WORST game I have played in my entire life and I've played quite a lot of shit up to now. How could someone have made up a racing game that manages to suck on all departments is really beyond me... I mean, shitty physics, shitty driving, shitty scenarios, shitty graphics, shitty objectives, generic shitty trophies... It just a huge clusterfuck of a game. Don't play it. It even has the nerve to have online trophies as well. Can't believe I got my wife to download this turd on her console and convinced her to add it to her trophy list so she could help me with the online trophies. To this day, she still hates me for it.

 

Platinum #38 - Medal of Honor Frontline (PS3/PSN)

Hot damn! Speaking of cool looking Platinum trophies, this one definitely takes the cake. Not only that, but the thing also has my name in its inscription. It is almost as if it was made with me in mind. So cool. This was a great classic FPS from its time. How classic is it? Well, you get to pick up health packs for once and second, it totally plays old-school, which I loved it for. The trophies were pretty cool and clearing the game on hard was a bitch. You take way too much damage and with limited ways to recover health during a stage, dying usually meant starting from the beginning of the stage all over. I almost got a heart attack when I cleared the final stage after being crouched in the corner of a room for hours, fearfully resisting the Nazi stampede that was coming at me. Yep, good times.

Did I tell you how much I love the design of the Platinum trophy?

This game came bundled with the physical edition of some other one that I still haven't played to this day.

 

Platinum #39 - Saints Row: The Third (PS3)

An extremely humorous, albeit technically flawed, sandbox game This game is mostly memorable due to the incredibly hilarious situations the Saints managed to get into while on their quest for world? domination. Is cool how you get to build up your gang and how you get to customize the main character in any way you like to but the game definitely has some issues. Constants bugs and glitches aside, the game is also a total pushover in terms of difficulty and from the start of the game you end up being way too overpowered for the gang battles and shootouts that occur during the game. There are quite a number of activities to perform in the city, my favorite being Professor Genki's Super Ethical Reality Climax (it is as you may imagine it to be) and my least favorite being the Insurance Fraud events (like really... What kind of whack out physics are going on there? Have to admit they were still funny though ?).

 

Platinum #40 - Guacamelee! (PSN)

This was a cool Metroidvania-kind-of-game with a fun Mexican vibe. I love it. The platforming and exploration are pretty well developed and the combat mechanics are pretty good and manage to not feel stale until the end of the game. The trophies were pretty cool for the most part and, again, I really like the whole Luchador/Mexican vibe the game is going for. Being Hispanic myself and playing the game in English with all of the Spanish words tied in-between was pretty funny for me. I also liked many of the classic video game references the developers took the liberty of adding to the game. Like, what are the chances of meeting someone name Error? Fun game! I never got my luchador mask in the mail though.

Platinum #41 - L.A. Noire (PS3)

I thought this was a pretty unique game. Loved the Los Angeles 40s vibe from it and the characters were totally believable to me. Kudos to the facial animation technology used at the time to boost that feeling of police investigative work when conducting interviews with suspects and witnesses. Sure, the game does get a bit repetitive in its structure, the scope of what can be done as a free roaming game is very limited and the ending kind of sucks as well but, all in all, I thought it was a pretty unique game. Finding all those gold reels was kind of annoying and I got confused with the trophy that required you to drive every vehicle in the city. I mean, cars were properly designed for the era but since I didn't know which ones I have driven and which ones I didn't (in part because some of them look the same), things eventually devolved in me taking every car I saw on traffic in hopes of finding the correct vehicle.

 

Platinum #42 - Call of Duty: World at War (PS3)

Clearing this on Veteran is one of the most epic achievements I have got in video games. Sure, it just your regular WWII CoD game but a bit grittier and with Nazis that throw grenades as if there was no tomorrow. Seriously, these guys are insane on Veteran, there is never a safe moment and progressing through the story was tough as nails. The final push for the Reichstag was just impossible and I thought about giving up on several occasions. My best strategy for this part was just to wait for the enemies to stop spawning and then making slow advances until I reached a checkpoint. Planting the Soviet's flag on the Reichstag alongside Reznov while epic music plays in the background and watching the Veteran trophies pop out alongside the Platinum is something I will never forget. T_T

 

Platinum #43 - Terminator Salvation (PS3)

I swear I got this game without even knowing about the trophies Got it bundled with a guy that was selling a bunch of CoD games and said, why not? Now the game itself is just a mediocre tie-in with the movie of the same name but, to be honest, I found it enjoyable to some degree. And I'm not saying that for the easy trophies, I mean, the game works ok for the most part. The best aspect of the game is that it uses the official Terminator soundtrack so it does give this cool vibe every now and then. The worst aspect of the game is how bullet-spongy those fucking robots are on the Hard difficulty. They take way too many shots to be killed.

As a side note, the shotgun in this game is not only the best weapon in the game but it may also be the best Shotgun in all of video game history lmao

 

Platinum #44 - Dragon's Crown (PS3)

Now, this is one of my favorite games on the console. I remember I got this game when it had recently come out (oh, how I miss those times xD) and it came bundled with a cool artbook that I totally wasn't expecting (and paid more on shipping for that btw). Anyways, the game itself is one of the coolest beat 'em ups and action-side-scroller-RPGs there is. Loved playing this game to the death my wife. My favorite character was the elf due to how quick and acrobatic she was. I normally pick melee/heavy armor characters for this kind of games but it was so fun jumping around everywhere and doing all those skill shots and whatnot. The trophies really run the gamut on what you have to do in the game but they were never really too difficult. Loved the art direction with this one and the art gallery was just sublime. Even the cooking minigame was cool, everything looked pretty tasty (even though they were cooked up monster parts xD). The one minor gripe I have with the game is how repetitive it can become due to having to play the same levels multiple times for better loot and to rank up your levels. Other than that, this game is damn near perfect for me.

 

Platinum #45 - SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs (PS3)

I jumped into this game the same day the servers were closing out and managed to snatch those online trophies just before the servers closed. Other than that, there is not much to say about this game. It was a cool TPS with decent characters but it didn't leave much of an impression on me. The game plays well and there is really nothing bad I can say about it either. Finding the Taroccos was slightly annoying. Really, who came up with the idea for oranges as collectibles? The artwork for the trophies is cool. Now that I notice it, the Platinum image looks kinda funny to me.

 

Platinum #46 - Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (PS3)

Wizardry Whiz - Awarded for becoming a master magician. Congratulations! You truly are a whiz at wizardry!

 

Oh boy, where to begin with this game? I got it after the insurmountable amounts of praise I heard from everyone at the time and ended up having a major disappointment with it. Now, don't get me wrong, the game is actually very good but since it was praised to the stratosphere, I came in expecting so much more only to end up with an alright JRPG. The characters are nice and the story is cute and heartwarming. The music is outstanding but the battle system felt pretty simple for me. Not a fan of the design on the Familiars either. The side quests were alright even though they were pretty much the same freaking thing every time (emotions delivery boy xD). Alchemizing was cool but I didn't really use it that much. Even though I didn't like the design on the Familiars, I did like the art direction within the game itself. My main complaint with the battle system comes from how idiotic and non-programmable the AI was for this game. The grind for taming all those Familiars and alchemizing all those items was kind of a pain but bearable.

Great idea that feels underdeveloped due to lack of funds, most probably. Ever wanted to play a JRPG that looked exactly like those anime cutscenes from start to finish? Well, this is probably the closest thing to that. The story is...xD...lets says it tries to be both funny and sometimes serious at the same time with mixed results. Gameplay is cool, with battles taking place in real time on 1-on-1 fights. The skill tree for how the characters develop is varied enough as to make a difference between Toki and Towa. The music is good, pretty great actually. The main allure from the game comes from its 2D hand-drawn sprites for both the characters and the enemies. They are decently animated and they really stand out. Unfortunately, the game starts recycling and recoloring those assets very early on. I also had a number of technical issues with the game which included noticeable slowdowns and the sounds effects and music completely cutting out from the game at points. In the end, it was a great idea that lacked a lot of polish. Thankfully, the game doesn't overstay its welcome and ends fast. ?

 

Platinum #48 - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3)

Nice FPS with a number of memorable moments. Have some good memories of playing Special Ops in this game with my wife and having a blast with her. The fucking Juggernauts are intense and I swear the game tries to scare the hell out of you everytime one of those guys appear. Some of those missions needed to be cleared with the utmost care and precision. I remember that, while playing with my wife, we had to memorize when the Juggernauts were most likely to appear and time our advance carefully. Overall, good game with a nice set of trophies that didn't force me to jump online for the Platinum. That's always nice. ?

 

Platinum #49 - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PS3)

After finishing with the previous one, we jumped straight away into the sequel and also had a blast with it. The single player campaign is very good, nothing particularly mind-blowing in my opinion. Although the final mission when you and Pierce lay siege to a hotel where Makarov is located while using the Juggernauts suit was pretty amazing and gratifying at the same time. The Special Ops came back in this game and they were even harder than before. While the Juggernauts were toned down, the difficulty and time requirements for some of the missions were amped up. One of the final Ops that has one of the players on the ground and the other firing from an AC-130 was particularly brutal as it required extreme coordination between the 2 players, even while playing locally. In the end, we also had a lot of fun with it. And the Survival Ops were kind of nice as well.

 

Platinum #50 - Dark Souls (PS3)

Yay! The follow-up to one of my favorite games on the console. Dark Souls is absolutely legendary to me. I swear I didn't plan for it to become my Platinum #50 but I'm glad that it ended being that for the milestone. Simply put, this is to this day the pinnacle of the series for me. Sure, walking between all the areas wasn't exactly charming during the first part of the game but once you get the ability to warp between bonfires, the game starts to progress rather nicely. There is always something to do and something to watch in awe. Bosses were amazing and the level design was superb, even if everything is designed to kill you. There are so many memorable moments in this game like when you reach The Abyss for the first time, or how majestic Sif, The Great Gray Wolf looks, or what about traversing the Tomb of the Giants in absolute darkness, or gazing at the giantness of Anor Londo, the fucking giant lizards-things in Lost Izalith maybe?... everything in this game is worth talking about. I wouldn't say the Platinum was difficult as it only required good practice with the bosses, leveling up and collecting a ton of weapons, miracles, pyromancies, and sorceries. One of my favorites games and Platinums that I still cherish to this day. :3

I'm open to suggestions and ideas about what should I play next. Hey HH!

 

I am impressed by your ambitious goal! Interesting set of games, even tho I don't know much about them, sure I have heard the names here and there but never really learned much about them, let alone play them. There are a few titles I might be interested in the far future but I have a lot on my gaming plate as is, don't we all.

 

And I am happy for you that you find your happiness especially in a fucked up situation and I really hope your country and countrymen turn this mess around sooner rather than later. Being born in Germany I can relate a bit since we had a really bad time so not long ago. Not that I ever had the misfortune to be around anything like this but I had my fare share of trouble in my life. I can also relate to your desire to escape your situation by playing games, it's in a way the same with me although my situation is, well personal or psychological.

 

Anyway this is about you, so no more me! So how to you plan to reach your goals, playing one game at the time or jumping from one title to the next? And more importantly how do keep the distractions away? By that I mean new games or games on sale? As for suggestion! Well I could throw a few names in the mix but I won't, as you already have a well planned road ahead of you!

Thank you for your words Durandal, I really appreciate them. I do hope we can turn this mess straight together at some point. This country used to be on its way to greatness decades ago (some people tell me, I don't know since I didn't live at that time around the 60s-70s) but at some point in time, many terrible decisions were made and we have been paying for it ever since I have memory. Things were bad already when I was born but these later years have been particularly brutal. Again, I really hope things get better at some point. They have to, don't they?

 

As for the goals, I like to jump back and forth between games. I usually play 3 games at around the same time (which you can see below on my signature ↓). If I get bored on any of these, I might jump on any of the games I have on my pipeline or on my backlog but I try not to start too many new games at the same time. Keeping distractions away is kinda hard, nowadays I'm impervious to digital sales but my girl tells me I spend too much money on any cheap physical game I happen to spot around. And she is right! lol I usually end up getting the games anyway but I don't start them right away, I rather wait to finish whatever I'm playing at the moment.

 

Feel free to throw names! I may or may not have the games you are thinking to recommend. I'd rather stick to the road I've planned but feel free to recommend any turns or shortcuts along the way

Ha! Well ok then but don't blame me if I complete mess up your plan. Here we go then ...

 

Some recommendations are for the time you got yourself a PS4 but if they are available for the PS3 then by all means.

 

So, the first game, and this is a must play, is of course NieR:Automata. It really is a masterpiece and I am sure you will like it. And you could also try the the first NIeR, Replicant. Too bad this is one is only available on PS3 or I would be playing it right now.

 

Rise of Tomb Raider, since you played Uncharted, and it is better then first game of the latest reboot. Or on the other hand the first reboot, it's available as a collection for the PS3 as I recall and includes Legend, Anniversary and Underworld. The first two being the best in the entire series in my humble opinion!

 

Assassin's Creed II maybe? It's one of the best of the series and a nice open world game.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution? It's the predecessor of Mankind Divided and a good stealth RPG Shooter, also on PS3 only.

 

Trine 2 another must play and available for PS3 too. A magical Platformer with a good story and quirky humor. More importantly a very balanced game with superb controls and you can play it with others too, it's a 3 player co-op game.

- NIeR Automata and Deus Ex Mankind Divided both are games I'd be interested if I get a PS4 later this year. The original Nier on PS3 is a game I have been yearning to play for awhile but so far the disk has been proved to be quite elusive. I do have Deus Ex Human Revolution and could probably add it to my pipeline.

 

- Rise of the Tomb Raider, I'd prefer to play the previous games in the series to get an idea of the character and the whole series before deciding if this would be worth to get on PS4. Actually, have both the HD Collection and the 2013 Reboot in my games and I could probably add those to my pipeline as they look pretty cool. The only problem is that my girl wanted to play these games first and she told me that I shouldn't play them until she finishes lol I'll find a way to add them to my pipeline.

 

- Have a number of Assassin's Creed games on my collection and none of them are the second game in the series... Been waiting to get it to actually start the series. Sound like a fair excuse, right?

 

- Trine 2, I don't have it... I don't think it came out in physical form here in America either. Game looks like a fun co-op platformer.

 

Could probably add Deus Ex Human Revolution and the Tomb Raider HD collection to my pipeline on my next update. It's going to take a while for that though as my progress is super slow. ?

Nice list! ?I'm awful at fighting games too so I steer away, but it seems like you really enjoy them! I don't have much experience with any the games on your list, besides my extreme dislike for Ratchet and Clank, however, if you ever need someone to help boost Dirt 3 or Darkstalkers Resurrection (if possible, I know it has to be ranked matches and it seems like fighting servers never completely die out), I have both of those buried deep in my backlog that I can easily dig up. I also never played Dyad, what's it like?

Ahh too bad, maybe it will be possible some day. And yes it's a great co-op game but it's very fun to play solo, trust me I did it 2 times.

Dyad is like a psychedelic-racing-on-rails-shooter-puzzle kind of game. Super easy to play as you only have to move circling a tunnel and chaining enemies one after another in a variety of ways. The objective is to reach the end of the tunnel in a certain time or to chain a certain amount of enemies and so on. Electronic and techno-like music plays depending on how fast and good you're doing on the stage. Platinum is pretty hard as the stages get progressively harder with a lot of stuff going on at once and time requirements for the trophies get exponentially more difficult.

 

Overall a good game I'd recommend to anyone that doesn't suffer from epilepsy or any other eye problem... Playing it feels like you could have a seizure at any point.

So I looked into getting the collection. Everywhere people were saying how great the games were and they seemed at just the right difficulty level for me to really get into them, enjoy, and finish. Then I got the collection and the games were awful. The controls are all the worse things about last gen. controls with awkward button mapping. The characters weren't dynamic and the gameplay was pretty bland. I didn't grow up with Ratchet and Clank, so I'm pretty sure everyone has their nostalgia goggles on a bit too tightly for what is really a mediocre game series.

Hmmm. Interesting. That's the first bad experience I have ever heard about this series.

 

I personally have never played any Ratchet and Clank game before, so no idea if I'm gonna end up liking it or not. From a distance, It looks like the kind of game that I'd enjoy. I'll see how the game pans out when I get there.

Update time!

• ModNation Racers (PS3): Finished all of the offline trophies and started working with the online yesterday. Did a bunch of random mods, karts, and tracks for the create XP trophy. I actually liked how the random tracks ended up even though I only steamrolled with total abandon and with no clear sense of direction. I don't have much free time to spend with the creation tools but I have to admit that they are very powerful in this game. Especially the track editor. Also, I jumped straight away to do the Flaming Hot! trophy seeing as how many people told me it was going to be pretty hard. Did like a hundred laps on the Big Hermitage track and I have to admit that getting the wall glitch to work was pretty tricky but I eventually landed 3rd on the Leaderboard with a time of 53 seconds and something. I was pleasantly surprised to see the trophy popped just a couple of minutes ago. Now, onto create and share a lot of content. If anyone wants to help or is looking for a partner in this game, let me know
• Tales of Symphonia (PS3): Haven't really done much here. Started the game and I'm on my way to the Fire seal. A few differences I noticed from this version compared to the Gamecube original I played time ago. Red fonts for the main title instead of blue, Japanese soundtrack at the beginning and game runs a little bit slower. Found that the game is based on a PS2 port that has more content to the NGC original but that it runs a little bit slower (60 FPS on NGC vs. 30 FPS on PS2/PS3). Not game breaking by any means but I did notice the difference. The game is as good as I remember it, combat is much simpler compared to newer Tales games but still rock-solid. Colette is still as clumsy as ever.
• Cross Edge (PS3): No other progress here other than uploading a bunch of tables and documents to my phone in preparation for the Synthesis grind that awaits me.

Will be updating my Hall of Memories over the Course of the day. I hope to add Memories from Platinum #11 to #30.

Update *cough* *cough* time!

 

So, what? It has been more than 2 weeks since I last made an update? I told you that my progress is rather slow. ?

 

Anyways, finally finished the super grind for the Platinum in ModNation Racers. Feels good to add another 1% Platinum to my collection. The next game in my pipeline that will be getting the scratch mark is probably going to be Cross Edge. *sigh* Been playing that game for far too long now and I really want to finish it. Have you ever fell compelled in finishing a game you don't like? That pretty much sums up my history with that game. Got it for the most ridiculous of reasons (Take a wild guess!) and I keep dropping it every now and then because, honestly, it is not good. I'm almost on the finish line though. Working on some titles right now and finding a way to grind through the endgame.

 

Tales of Symphonia is doing nicely. Gonna be playing more of that one in the coming days. Gonna be starting the Ratchet and Clank HD Collection as well soon.

 

On another news, I also got a PS Vita and got my first Platinum on it: Sound Shapes. So that's, at least, 50% of one of my goals for this year completed. Now I only need to get a PS4 and do the same before the year ends. On the Vita, I will be working with Rayman Origins and Welcome Park (for real...) in the coming days. Cool console, me likes it.

 

What else there is to say? *mumble mumble* Oh yeah, I will be updating the entries from #30 to #50 from my Hall of Memories in the coming days. Hopefully, they should be done before Sunday...hopefully...?

Oh yeah. The Ni no Kuni II I drag through my pipeline the more it annoys me. It's not a bad game per se but it just doesn't end. Quest here and there and all the citizens you have to find with more quests. It all comes down to this. A good game with a terrible trophy grind. So best of luck with Cross Edge.

 

Your next goals sound interesting. Not that I know much of Tales but they all have quite a good reputation so I am sure this will be a lot of fun for you. Same goes for Ratchet, and this is going to be a game, or the PS4 one, I am going to play soon for the Summer 2018 backlog challenge.

 

And I am a little bit jealous of your Vita, sure sounds like a nice gaming device. I bet you can't get you hands of it, don't you.

Kind of a big update for my journal.

 

First and foremost, got the Platinum for Rayman Origins, which would be my first legit physical game on Vita with a Platinum. I also got the Platinum for Mecho Tales, which would be my first truly disappointing game I got from a Flash sale on the store. Check the spoiler below for more details if interested.

Platinum #82 - Rayman Origins (PS Vita)

 

 

Rarity: 11,80%

 

It was nice to have a chance to replay this game again on the Vita. Got the Platinum on the PS3 version some time ago so I knew what to expect from this game. Anyways, Rayman Origins is just flat out great. Rayman controls like a dream and the level design and tight challenge make up for some intense and fun platforming sections. I'd also say that this one of the most whimsical games I have played in a while and I loved it for that. It sometimes made me think where the hell happened to all these colorful characters and environments in modern big-budget video games. Different to this Vita version is the inclusion of touch controls in order to zoom in or out the camera from Rayman, to pop item bubbles or bubblized enemies from far away (which made completing those medallions considerably easier) and to look out for relics hidden on the stage's background. I wasn't really to keen on hunting for those relics. I didn't even know it was a thing until I was about to finish the game and I felt that stopping to carefully look on the environment to find the relics kind of dragged the experience to a halt.

 

What was really fun were those speed trophies. I found them slightly harder on this version only because the Vita screen is obviously smaller than if you play on a proper big screen TV but nailing a good time on a stage or keeping the pace with one of those running chests were both an exhilarating experience. Is the game hard? Not really and the rarity shows this. I'd say that it has a tight difficulty but nothing that some good practice and memorization cannot beat. ^^

 

 

Platinum #83 - Mecho Tales (PSN / PS VIta)

 

 

Rarity: 77,44%

 

This one, on the other side, was kind of a disappointment. Despite the colorful aesthetics and the nice idea of implementing a twin-stick shooter with a sidescroller, the game definitely falls flat on its face. Simple platforming, repetitive enemies, glitchy gameplay, and a total lack of replay value for a rather short game made this experience totally forgettable. The music, the few there is, was great. And the shooting-while-moving mechanic seems well thought out but there is really not much fun stuff to jump at on this game. I'd say the main issue with the game is how simple and repetitive it is. Trophy wise, it is a total cakewalk, just progress through the game normally picking up everything and you should have all the trophies when you kill the final boss, which should take roughly 3-4 hours of actual gameplay.

 

One final note for this game is how bullet-spongy the final boss was. Really! The rest of the bosses were ridiculously easy up to this point and required almost no effort whatsoever but the final guy made me think my game had glitched out some point due to the considerable amount of time I spent with it compared to the rest of the bosses. Had to look for a video on Youtube to make sure that the strategy I was following was right. >.>

 

Besides that, I also updated my Hall of Memories section up to Plat #50. I like to write stuff there but I have to admit that it has been kind of a chore for the most part. Mostly because I don't have as much time as to write stuff there as I'd like to. Anyways, progress is progress. Will be updating the next entries over the following days. Working silently in the background until I get to finish it at some point. Only a few more now...

 

On real life news, my HDTV crapped on me yesterday and some of you have may have noticed for my Status Update. Already talked with the service shop and will be taking the unit for repairs tomorrow. Hopefully, I will have it back before the end of the week. Hopefully... In the meantime, I will be playing Vita games for the rest of the week until my TV gets fixed. Added some Vita games to my pipeline to reflect that. Put a red font for all my PS3 games since they are going to be on halt for a while. *adds personal note: need to buy a backup HDTV for when stuff like this happens *

 

On a more brighter note, I finished today doing an installation of a portable 14,000 BTU A/C that I got a few weeks ago for my game room/bedroom (they are one and the same yeah). I was missing some accessories in order to made it work more efficiently but now it is all done. Now my room is more like a fridge than the oven it was before. ^^

 

I will try to keep this thread a little bit more updated from now on.

Congratulations on you latest Platinums! Rayman Origins is actually a title I kind of having my eyes on for good while now since I enjoy these kind of games, really love Trine and Ori for example. Unfortunately there is no PS4 version, so

I kinda agree with this for different reasons. I actually take notes now of the things I want to mention in my updates. Just a small file with a few keywords for the most things but it actually speeds up the writing process for me. Maybe that could work for you too. And I was thinking about your TV problem the other day and I thought that you might want to consider a Full-HD monitor as a backup. They should be cheaper then a TV and you don't need something big either, since the PS3 doesn't have these high resolutions so you could just buy a 21" maybe or 27" depending on the price. Just an idea.

I think Rayman Legends is available on PS4. You could try that one, although I have heard the Plat there is kinda hard there due to some online challenges. Ori and the Blind Forest is also another platformer that looks fantastic, hopefully, it will arrive to Sony's platform at some point.

Oh, I hadn't thought about those Full HD-Monitors. I was actually thinking of getting a cheap 32'' 720p HD TV for less than $100 as a backup alternative but your idea sounds nice as well. Gonna check the prices on those to see which one fits my budget better. Thanks for the idea. ?

Oh yeah... Challenge 2, 3 and 5 were manageable after a number of tries. Challenge 1 was hard as hell but I did that one as well. Challenge 4 made me cry tears of blood for days and I almost had a heart attack once I manage to beat it.

 

Challenge 6 was just way too much for me at the time.

 

Have to admit that I didn't have too much of a chance to practice because my HDD got corrupted and I didn't have a backup of this game. I'd need to go through the whole game again and beat those challenges in order to have a fair shot again at Challenge 6. Vanquish is an awesome great so I might get to do that at some point.

Since last week I was able to complete 2 PSN games on my Vita:

100% - Thomas was Alone (PSN / PS Vita)

 

 

 

One of the best, if not the very best, indie titles I have played in recent memory. As I said on one of my status updates, I never expected such a simple concept to be able to carry such strong emotions. I came to the game expecting that it was going to be just a regular platformer with rectangles as characters and boy I was wrong. I actually laugh and got all teary-eyed while playing with these rectangles. Thanks in one part to the excellent narration provided throughout the game and also to the outstanding emotional music. The game was pretty short and the trophies super straightforward. Once I finished the story I came back to certain stages to pick up a couple of collectibles I didn't even notice on my first run.

 

All in all, excellent game. It left a deep impression on me.

100% - Gravity Badgers (PSN / PS Vita)

 

 

 

I am not completely sure if I got my money's worth with this one. It cost me 60 cents and provided little enjoyment for the most part. As I said on my status update, this is Angry Birds on space but with badgers instead or birds and gravity instead of...angryness? The game's presentation is super cheap. Everything is flat-looking with barely any animations at all, the same backgrounds are used until exhaustion, the music never changes and is looped constantly (and abruptly I might add) and the whole thing looks just plain awful. To its benefit, the gravity puzzle mechanics do work and while the first couple of chapters are mind-numbingly easy, it starts to throw some interesting scenarios later on. It'd have been nice if there was some more variety to the elements on the stages. Be prepared to look at the same planets, laser barriers, pipes, orbs, and worms every time. What really dragged the game down were the boss battles. They were completely unnecessary and doing Chapter 3 and 4 bosses without being hit once was an exercise in frustration due to the controls of the game not being up to the task.

 

Meh... Pretty sure the birds are better in space. Still... 60 cents lol

 

 

On another news, Cross Edge is going into the freezer...for awhile... hopefully not 8 years. Game is boring, what else there is to say? I'll try my best to pick it back up before the end of the year. I'm almost at the finish line on the epilogue. Just need to get done with the extra bosses to start farming drops for the bazillion of items that need to be synthesized.

 

I got my repaired TV back last Friday and managed to complete my first playthrough of Tales of Symphonia. Now THIS is an awesome JRPG. Old but great. It took me 65 hours, according to the game, to finish this playthrough (I like to wander a lot and talk with every NPC that I come accross >_>). The Platinum will require at least 3-4 more playthrough in order to farm all the titles for all the characters as well as a number of other missable stuff. I love this game so I hope I will have the patience to carry through this. I need to cut that playthrough time in half though

 

Race the Sun on Vita.... is proving to be quite difficult. At the moment, I can reach Region 6 and was about to earn the 1 million points this one time until I smashed head-on against one of those circly red things. I hate them. They are the worst obstacle to dodge for me lol. The game is pretty fun with its minimalistic approach and the music is quite catchy. Need to reach level 25 before I stand a serious chance of racking up the good points.

 

I will be starting with the first Ratchet & Clank game from the HD collection before the weekend.

 

Added MotorStorm: Apocalypse as an urgent game to my pipeline since the servers will be closing down soon. Will try to do the online first but if I get hooked with it, I might go all the way to finish it on the spot.

 

Added Soul Calibur V as well. A game that I'm planning to play with my good buddy @ShonenCat at some point during the following weeks. Need to start with the regular story mode and get the practice on the game before jumping online.

 

No changes whatsoever to the Hall of Memories. Haven't feel motivated to write anything there at the moment.

So no Cross Edge Platinum any time soon? I guess that was inevitable.

 

Anyway, good thing you have your TV back and found some time to enjoy a few good games. Thomas was Alone sure does sound interesting. I am hearing lots of good things about those Tales games but they are all very grindy as far as I can tell. Have you played any other game and could you recommend a title for someone who is new to the series?

 

I also noticed that you play a lot on your Vita now, sure sounds like a great investment! Makes me even wonder if I shouldn't go for one myself someday.
