Popular Post Honor_Hand
September 20th was the last time I wrote here. That's more than 3 months worth of laziness right there. Truth be told, I didn't feel like updating the journal at all due to a number of reasons. Laziness being one, of course, but also stuff like lack of time and a general good disposition is what prevented from coming in here. Actually, my posting activity has really gone down over the last few months. More on that later on this post. So, what has happened in these last few months? Well, honestly, quite a lot has happened since then o.o Not sure where to even begin. Let's talk a little about the few Platinums that I managed to snatch during that time, shall we? I'll also comment a little on the games I started playing. • Platinums Spoiler - Soul Calibur V (PS3): Played this one with my good friend @ShonenCat and had a great time at it. It was nice getting to play a proper Soul Calibur entry on the PS3 and even though the game had a number of exceptionally grindy and pointless trophies (Wind of Battle, for real?), it still managed to remain a mostly good time. It was cool seeing some of the new characters into the roster and even though my main guy Mitsurugi made it there, I was kind of sad of not being able to have Seung Mina (*cough*waifu*cough*) there. Solid entry if a bit soulless at times but still overall recommended. Don't be afraid, there is a cheese with Viola that makes everything 10x times easier. - Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 (PS3): Jumped back on this one to finally get it done. Only was needing to get the 5 ranked wins in a row for the Platinum after doing everything back in the day. Yeah, I'm too sucky against other players online and my shitty internet doesn't help either >.> I had 2 consoles and 2 copies of the games so it was an easy self-boost. Can't wait to get into Ultimate MvC 3. This series is just pure awesome Love it. Why, it even has Felicia has a playable character so there is a lot to love right there - Saints Row IV (PS3): Wasn't too fond of Saints Row: The Third but this one proved otherwise. Super fun powers, hilarious story and over-the-top moments are what defines the game. Really liked what they did there. It doesn't have any sense nor it needs too. It's just a playground, pure and fun. Everything clicked together sooooo well, I really don't remember anything being particularly annoying, except for the random freezes which were a bit too common. Other than that, great. Definitely need to check on Gat out of Hell at some point. - LEGO Batman 2 (PS Vita): A simple LEGO game that was much better than the previous Marvel one I played months before. Straightforward and somewhat childlike but it did rekindle the humor from the old entries and ran perfectly, no crashing whatsoever. If I remember right, this was a recommendation from @Kittet3 back then. Thanks! - The Tomb Raider Trilogy (PS3): This one was kindly recommended to me by my friend @Durandal as a good entry point for the franchise and boy it was. Admittedly, some games have aged better than others but I was definitely able to see the roots of the Tomb Raider franchise and how it evolved on Underworld (which was my favorite out of the 3 btw). Now, getting this one to work was a pain because I got a dud disc that wasn't able to work properly and had to hunt for a second copy online (which was kind of expensive) in order to be able to finish the game. Even so, got 3 Platinums, enjoyed both 3 games (some more than others) and, as a nice bonus, the store from which I bought the defective disc more than a year ago was nice enough to give me another game free of charge. That's proper customer service right there. So yeah, happy ending lol - Arcana Heart 3 Love MAX!!!!! (PS3): An all-girl fighting game? Yes, please. A bit old but still with lots to enjoy. Fast paced technical fights with lots of flash, lots of substance and lots of moe. This game is chock full of content compared to some other fighters out there. I mean, there are so many modes, extras in the gallery, stories, substories, characters, animations, everything... It just keeps on giving. @ShonenCat was my bro for the job. Took us some time to get everything for the job but thanks to a couple of turbo controllers and a lot of patience to grind those 10,000 LP we eventually managed to reach the Platinum and had a great time while at it. • Other games I played Spoiler - The King of Fighters XIII (PS3): Started this one with my good friend @cr1s and got all of the online done through a series of matches over a few days. The online ran poorly, more like The King of Slideshows XIII but I actually had an awesome time grinding with @cr1s Need to get this one done over the next few months. Hopefully, I'll be up to the task with this one but so far has proved to be one tough nut to crack. No cheese has been found yet and the timing for the combos in Trial mode is exceptionally brutal. We'll see how it goes. ? - Vanquish (PS3): Had to start this one from the beginning again since my last save data was lost. Good thing that this game kicks sooooo much ass though because I loved playing through it again. I'm back at the dreaded Challenge 6. So far, these are my records. Challenge 1 took me 1 try to beat it. Challenge 2 took me 1 try to beat it too. Challenge 3 took me 2 tries to beat. Challenge 4 took me like 15 tries but I was able to get that Crystal Viper at the end eventually. Challenge 5 took around 9 tries but it eventually went down as well. Now, I have tried Challenge 6 like 4964th times and still no luck. Fuck! x_x - Gran Turismo 5 (PS3): Got my wheel out, made some laps. Only missing the Red Bull X Challenge and the 24-hour Nurburgring race for the Platinum. Got gold on Monza after a couple of hours trying and I managed to improve my record on Germany a lot from my previous attempts. Still, need a lot of time to finally nail this one but if I do it, it will become not only my rarest Platinum but also my favorite as well :3 - Capcom Arcade Cabinet (PSN): Started this one on a whim after not being sure what to play one day. It's not yet on my profile because I haven't synced it yet but yeah, will need to sit with this one eventually. - Life is Strange (PSN): Started this one to help a friend with a doubt he had after purchasing the game. Will need to sit and play it now soon. - Spider-Man (PS4): My first PS4 game yay!! Finally, next gen. It looks amazing... Of course, after playing so many old games, anything looks staggering when you jump to a new gen. Having a fantastic time with this one so far. Love web-slinging around the city, stopping crimes and doing missions here and there. Plays superb, looks outstanding and it has been a great game to start on the PS4. So, that's a brief summary of my gaming activities over the last 3 months. Sadly, I've had to cut on my gaming time as of lately. Not sure if mentioned this on a previous update but I lost the previous job I had around October. 3 and half years working online for a company in the USA and then, one day and out of the blue, they decided to withheld one of my weekly payments and ban my account with them due to a reason that was never disclosed to me. Had to look for a new job and found one with some guys in the UK, online of course. The pay is slightly better than the place I was before but the workload is much more. Especially because I'm on an entry-level spot once again. Still, I keep on chugging along in one way or another. Guess I need to mention here so that everyone knows but, part of the reason of why I haven't been able to game much at all, nor watch anime or comment here in the forum as much as I used to is because things here have gotten slightly worse over the last few months. Even though my earnings have slightly improved with the new job, things here have tripled in price even if you pay on foreign currency so I have found myself assigning more time to work and less time for fun. That also includes cutting down on buying games and other amenities. Thank God I don't have to pay rent and that basic services are pretty much free because the food expenses alone are taking like 80% of my income at the moment. So yeah, now you know. Even though things are harder than ever, I'm still gonna try to keep with my hobby. Wouldn't like having to drop it again like in previous years as it is pretty much one of the few instances of fun I have left to keep myself distracted while everything crumbles away. I wasn't able to meet most of my goals for 2018. I wanted to have 125 Platinums and only got 98. Similarly, my completion rate improved but only up to around 71% when I wanted to be around 85%. Not only that, but GT5 platinum remained as elusive as ever. However, despite all that, I can say that I did have a fantastic 2018. I was able to get a Vita and a PS4 and got trophies on both systems before the year ended and I was also happy with the games I played along the year. Some boring grinds here and there but doing it with friends make them all the more worthwhile. I also need to say this again but I was able to get the best Christmas ever anyone in my situation could ever ask for. I probably won't ever be able to thank you guys enough but @ShonenCat , @cr1s and @PooPooBlast pretty much gave me the best Christmas gifts ever. You know what you guys did and I'm definitely thankful for it. Why, you essentially got me all started onto the current gen with both system, games and even clothing. Thanks again Also, a big thanks to @AndresLionheart for kindly giving me that download code for Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon on PS4. I'll put it to good use now that I have the console. Will most likely be amongst the first I games I will be playing there. También querias que te dejara saber acerca de cuando my checklist estuviese actualizado, así que bueno, aquí estamos. So, what are my goals and objectives for this 2019, well, here they are: - Reach 150 Platinums. - Improve completion rate to 85% - Have Gran Turismo 5 as my 100th Platinum. - Have [Insert cool/rare PS4 game here] as my 150th Platinum. - Reduce game spending and focus a bit more on getting PS4 games. - Play/grind/talk/create memories alongside my friends. - Have even more fun and enjoy myself. They certainly look doable and only a marginal improvement over last year as far as Platinum count. Haven't decided on which game will be 150th Platinum but I know it will definitely be one on the PS4. Also, as much as I love to collect games, I need to cut down my spendings a lot this year unless things improve or I get a massive rise in my job. The little I will be saving, I'll most likely use it to get PS4 games preferably. Also, very important but I have quite a number of grinding sessions pending with a number guys here. At the top of my head, I am planning to play Bodycount, Two Worlds II and C&C Red Alert 3 with @cr1s and also need to get a copy of BlazBlue Calamity Trigger and a number of other PS4 games like Monster Hunter World to play with @ShonenCat Also, need to get a number of F1 and CoD titles to play with @Rewemarkt66 That'd be nice. The main post has been updated accordingly to reflect the recent changes: - Will most likely continue with my plan of Platinuming Vanquish and Gran Turismo in the following days. - Spider-Man will be played on the sides. If Vanquish doesn't go down, then that one will be Plat 99th damn it. - Also put The King of Fighters XIII and a couple of Ratchet & Clank games to play afterward. - Alienation is the second PS4/PSN game I'm playing to plat while I make up my mind on everything else. - Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon will be my first 100% PSN title this year. - The Tales titles have been put on a standstill until I get enough motivation to jump on them again. Same goes for Cross Edge and a couple of PSN games that remained pending from last year. - The "About me" sections was cut short and redirected toward my profile page. - Added the corresponding images for the recent Platinums I got up to my 98th Platinum to the Hall of Memories. Still pending to update a number of games with a brief description. - Would really like to add my own set of banners or something to liven things up a little but oh well... Update done! Hopefully, I didn't miss anything or anyone. If I did, feel free to hit me in the head lmao
PooPooBlast
That was a nice read my friend! I also read about vanquish and my god challenge 6 was no joke!! I watched many videos for that until I found one I was pretty comfortable with. What sucks is that it takes like 15-30 mins to complete. My time was 26.. But for now, enjoy Spiderman! You deserve to relax/splurge a little Edited January 6, 2019 by PooPooBlast

Although I look so cheap compared to those guys who got you the PS4 =P. Some of the games you pick to platinum are so grindy. For example, I once looked at games like Arcana Heart because of the obvious reasons but then decided not to go for it because long ass grinds suck, especially if it's online. Playing something super simple like a Lego game is great to break the pace of something difficult or long, so that is a good choice for every now and then. I'd say you should abandon KoF XIII while you are still not too deep in, lol. The graphics are great but the mechanics are not that nice on regular controller players. I think I finished Kyo's trials and just dropped it. Really hoping for a KoF XV to play when it has a community. I started with XIV too late and now it is a pain to complete de 6 players mode and ranked wins. Spider-Man is a much better game to start on PS4 than what I had =p. You should get Bloodborne whenever it goes on sale again. It's cheap as is, but why spend more for no reason? I've been having a blast playing it with my friend and laughing at how much people hype the difficulty. I will have a lot to say about this one when we are done. What happened with Tales D=? Did one burn you out? Was it Symphonia and its massive list of missables? Berseria goes on sale very often. Try that one some time to rekindle the Tales itch =P. Your 2019 objectives are way more ambitious than mine, especially for someone who says he doesn't have that much time. 50 plats in 1 year? Damn, son. Anyway, it's nice to see the journal active again. Let's see what we can do for this 2019! =)
Durandal
That's a really nice recap. I am very happy for you that the year ended like it did. Unpacking your PS4 must have been the highlight of the year or was it the T-Shirt. And you sure played quite a few games, so glad you still enjoy them, given all the shit that has happened to you this year! I remember lots of cool sounding games you finished and how it tempted me to buy a PS3. And you liked my recommendation, I am honored! And now that you have a PS4 you can play the reboot and tell me which TR generation you like better. I also am eager to hear you take on Trine, maybe I can help you out somehow with some trophies, since it is a nice coop game. Good luck with your goals for this year. The last two sound very fun indeed.

Yeah, I saw a number of videos too. The best one was probably one guy that got the blue bogey stuck behind of the buildings somehow. Made the fight so much easier lol. Obviously, I couldn't replicate that and had to fight both of them My final time was 21 minutes flat. Thanks, man. I will 16 hours ago, AndresLionheart said: De nada =). The grinding I mean, especially if it's online. Oh come on, I'm already halfway through lol but yeah, the timing for the combos and everything is super challenging. I made a quick attempt at the Trial mode on December and got stuck on the third combo of pretty much all the fighters ;-; Fortunately enough, I'm armed with an Arcade Stick for the job and that's what I've been using so far to plat these fighters given my limited ability but damn, KoF XIII is going to be one brutal Platinum to get due to those combos. You could always try a boosting session to get those groups together but, admittedly, it can be somewhat complicated to organize a proper boosting group. 16 hours ago, AndresLionheart said: Spider-Man is a much better game to start on PS4 than what I had =p. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on Bloodborne when you have them ready. Last year I got Xilia, completed it, and loved it. Then, I went into Symphonia completed the game again and loved it, but when I saw that I had to go through the game a number of times again and with so many missables... yeah... ;-; That's pretty much what happened. Let's see if I can rekindle the love for the franchise during this year. Heehee, gotta push those numbers up. I actually got 28 Platinums this past year so let's see how 2019 goes for me. Need to challenge myself with impossible numbers Gracias por pasarte por aqui hermano 11 hours ago, Durandal said: That's a really nice recap. I am very happy for you that the year ended like it did. I bought this collection during a sale in late 2017 and I spent the better part of one hour and a half trying to get through a part of Gun Smoke. Got as far as around the third level before I just gave up. Commando, Son Son and I believe Higemaru have no continues so you're really going to have to up your game and playing skills to get those trophies. There's a gold trophy for playing these games for 50 hours, regardless you're in for the long haul. Good luck. It's probably one of the most respectable 100 percent titles you can have on your profile. Let me know how the collection goes for you if you decide to get into it. If they were piss easy like a lot of today’s PSN games those companies wouldn’t of made nearly as much money. If you want a good game to start on, Avengers is good. Black Tiger is also fairly decent. Played a little of Ghosts n’ Goblins but didn’t get very far. Gun Smoke has infinite continues, but the entire game is bullet hell and you have to be skilled to get through it. If you manage to get to the sixth level, that very much could be the roadblock to obtaining 100 percent in Capcom Arcade Cabinet. Commando is also very difficult, is 1 player only and you have to beat the game with only one continue. It’s about 8 - 10 minutes long, so there’s definitely a lot of concentration there. Haven’t played much of the rest. Don’t know what Son Son or Higemaru are like. 1943 I hear can be tricky.

I'll follow your recommendation and try those at first when I jump to it. The first game I tried on the hour or so that I played was Commando and boy was it hard. I do have a bit of experience in 1943 (and 1942) from the NES so I will so how much I measure up on those. I'm not good at shmups but maybe I could do something there. It's a shame the whole Capcom Arcade Cabinet doesn't come with a Platinum but it will still be a nice 100% to have or to attempt to have at least lol 6 hours ago, KaKrackle said: What AJ is saying is no exaggeration. I've played this collection on my alt but don't feel like adding it to my main yet, will probably be a long time before I finish it, that is if I finish it. I bought the Midway Arcade Origins two years ago and ended up really enjoying it. Only problem is you have to fish for a physical version since a number of PS3 games like Splatterhouse don't have a corresponding PSN version. If you enjoy the Capcom Arcade Cabinet I recommend the collection from Midway. Much easier trophy list as well with a platinum. Capcom doesn't seem to value trophy hunters as much. Definitely would of liked to see Mega Man 10, the 30th Anniversary Street Fighter Collection and their Capcom Beat Em Up Arcade bundle to all sport a platinum but sadly they don't. I value those 100 percents a lot more than most platinums because most people will never go for them. I'm not good at shmups either, you probably saw my post about those. But good luck. I mean you got the platinum in Vanquish, which is a game I've been wanting to play these past few years.

So far, it's been pretty good. Enjoying the whole hunting down monster mechanics, then chasing the monster, and then whacking the monster lol Great game, with some pretty environments and excellent, creative creature design. I also like the kitty cat companion you have and the fact that you can have friends help you against the most difficult monsters. Haven't played much over the last couple of days. Need to get back to it at some point. One thing I don't like about the game is that the co-op with friends could have been more seamless. There are some expeditions your friends cannot join and for others, you have to wait for a cutscene to play so that they can join. I sort of understand why they did this but they could have probably thought on a more easier way for your friends to join you on the get-go.
