This game SUCKS!

Never felt more disappointed in spending my money on something. The initial presentation and artistic design in this game is top notch and probably one of the best I've seen so far. Kratos is more likeable as a character and the dialogues/interactions he has with his son and the world are very interesting but once it comes to gameplay the game start to suck so much.

 

It's again one of those games where the devs felt the need to make another open world game and done it badly. It's like an epidemy where every game has to be open world nowadays when there is no need to. Remember those action packed fights with some puzzles and climbing sequences in between in other GoW games? Well sucks to be you if you enjoyed them because now you can ride boats from one end of the map to another. I swear to god from playing this game for about 15 hours, 10 of those were either walking a path or riding the boat. The fights are scarce and far inbetween and the enemy variety is just shite. Draugers and the damn White Walkers from Games of Thrones is what you get. Maybe 1 or 2 Trolls somewhere along the line. The pacing is just so freaking slow and horrible that I forgot what the game was even about.

 

Oh right, I was suppose to scatter the ashes of a dead wife, remember? Well I did remember once the boy reminded me again after shoving me down the throat that GoW is an open world game for the sixth time and as in every open world game I'm suppose to explore. So I tried to explore but apparently the game doesn't want me to so even though it told me right there to do it. Once you start any side quest you get a slap on your hands. The crappy drauger you fought after the tutorial is now level 6 and one shots you. "Wanna free that dragon? Sorry brah, you have to come back later once you level up a bit more, I don't care you killed Zeus because that Drauger is level 6 now. What? There is a rift on the path of the MAIN QUEST you opened, here, fight those 3 level 7 witches. Why would you even open that rift with the light arrows you just acquired, idiot." Whoever designed this IS an idiot. You want me to explore side quests after I completed the game then let them unlock once I'm done with it. But nope you get bombared with side quests from every angle and the boy just doesn't shut up how much he loves exploring. It's like playing a shitty RPG where everything is 50 levels above you but the main quest/path where you obliterate everything.

 

The boss variety is actually very terrible compared to most other GoW games. There are about 4 "unique" fights, 2 of them involve fighting the same enemy. 1 of them is okay. Another one where you fight the pair (not going to name them) reuses the basic shield enemy and Traveler guy moveset with some additions. This is pathetic. In fact the game reuses a lot. I stopped counting how many of those giants with poles I have been fighting. There is a point in the game where it builds up because you're going to a new realm retrieving an item to help out your son so you think there is going to be an epic fight... and then you are greeted with the same giant with a pole. You backtrack about 2 or 3 times the same area even though you could teleport and spare 15 minutes running around. What kind of horribible game design is that? It's like the game tries to stretch itself making everything cumbersome when there is no need to.

 

The camera sucks ass too. It just couldn't be a bit farther away from Kratos or the FOV bigger so I can see what the heck is going on on the other 75% of the battlefield. Why would it?

 

All in all I just get incredibly annoyed the more I play the game. Going to give my best to plat it and forget that it even existed cause I can't return it.

I will admit I haven't found this quite as thrilling and overly satisfying and violent like the past God of War games. Namely God of War III, where they just put you right into the thick of the action and it never lets go until you kill Zeus at the end.

 

Just another reason why you shouldn't trust every 10/10 review and "Best Game Ever" statements professional critics like to throw out there in the media these days.

 

Still, it's nothing bad at all and in many ways it's enjoyable as it's own entity.

I agree that there should be more enemy types and action, but this is definitely my favorite God of war game. There will be 4 more so maybe the action will get better as the series progresses.

You can make an argument for how the new game has a lot of padding going on due to the boat sections but that’s the first time i’ve ever seen somebody praise the climbing and puzzles from the old games. If that’s what you like more power to you but i always found those to be the weakest segments in those games.

People didn't like the puzzles in the Uncharted games either, I find both series to go hand in hand in a lot of ways.

So, do you automatically expect them to be good? I am a huge RDR fanboy but I haven't seen any gameplay footage yet and the popularity of the online mode in gta5 could have led to some weird decisions by rockstar. And for Spiderman, the QTE in one of the first videos looked really awful to be honest.

Lol Generally Rockstar doesn’t make bad games, there’s a huge single player focus if you’ve read of the recent IGN stories. As far as the QTE in Spider-man it’s only during certain side missions and I see nothing wrong with them.

Ouch... But still going to buy this game if my backlog shrinks. Tastes differ and 90% of gamers cannot be wrong. To much leveling and walking is indeed boring but I think you exaggerate your bad experience.

Not entirely, I saw couple of gameplay videos and thought they were okay looking. Then the reviews rolled in about a week before the game launched so I thought. Hey couldn't be that bad. The only time I bought something completely blindly was Persona 5 and it sucked me completely in to a point where I played all of Persona games.

 

Exactly, the game has it moments but those are so far inbetween that it bores me to tears. In the previous games you moved from epic fight to another. Games were short but action packed, God of Bore here is not.

Not praising them but it's understandable that you can't move from one encounter to another constantly so they had to put something in between. Some puzzles are of course more interesting than others but sure as hell beats boat riding and walking around. I found Hera's Garden was pretty cool and so were the Steeds of Time.

Even when going for the trophies I didn't think boat riding took up too much of a part. Sometimes I'd choose to go into the boat if I was just going to another island because it was faster than going through the gateway. And I haven't played the old games yet but from what I've seen it's an improvement in a lot of ways, at least for my tastes, though obviously some people will always prefer the far out camera or the lack of open world (and I don't think the latter is too bad since this one is more of a bunch of linear areas on a large map).

 

I guess my criticism is mainly the same-y enemies and a lack of boss fights and interesting stuff to do post-game. But I don't think there's anything that makes the game suck in any way.

Just a troll to see what people will say!! By all means this game does not suck ,, OK you dont think its a 10/10 fair but its no less then a 9! Its a 10/10 in my book! I beat the game and I am still playing it. Its that damn good!! The combat is soo deep I love everything about it!!!

Deep? . A deep one is DmC Devil May Cry. GoW is a hack n'slash franchise. This new game is an action RPG.
