ButtingHam
So today I found out I might've been robbed of 2 online trophies for Portal 2 due to not being able to connect to Steam. People are looking into it and messaging support, but if it doesn't come back online then I have to face the facts. Of course, I'm extremely pissed off by this, but the way I see it, there are only 2 things I can do. 1. Start fresh and avoid any old games that have online trophies like the plague. 2. Continue on with my current account/hide any games on my list that have these issues. I'm leaning way toward the latter since I've put way too much time in all my other games to have to start again (Life is too short). In a perfect world, I'd hope Sony would one day come up with a solution to this issue. Maybe if a game has unobtainable trophies we could delete it from our list or the trophies wouldn't be able to sync into our accounts in general. I wouldn't mind the hiding option so much if it wasn't for my stupid OCD and the fact that this site makes it painfully obvious that you've done so. I'm really mad right now especially because I'm a completionist even outside of doing trophies, but I guess I'll get over it one day. How about you guys? Ever run into this situation and if so did you eventually cope with it?

snakebit10
I have unobtainable trophies on games. I keep on going and will complete what I can. I don't care about a 100% profile but would like to get to 80%.
Gage
The very first game on my profile is unobtainable, and had been unobtainable almost right since I made an account. I've never let it bother me or worried too much about it.
Popular Post SkyMason
No way José. I don't have the patience for putting myself through 100%ing a game even if it looked enjoyable/doable from the outset. If it becomes too much of a chore, I hide it or move on. You'll probs see from my profile that I have loooooooooads of hidden trophies. Most of those are from games I actually done most of the stuff in, be that 80-90%. If something is just not fun anymore, or I don't see the point of it, I will just stop playing it. Life's too short to waste time grinding monotonously through some bullshit 'just because'. I feel like I'm in the minority here, but PSNProfiles is effectively my backlog - going for a 100% profile just sounds like torture, especially with the various EA Sports games I pick up every now and then. That's no knock for people who do go for 100%, that obviously takes a lot of dedication, and I can see how satisfying it would be. I do like going for plats, but you know, realistically real life takes precedent, and I want trophy hunting to be more fun than chore, though I don't mind some stupid requirements every now and then.
DaivRules
I have unobtainables, but I don't care too much. Shit happens. Accept life isn't perfect. I'm not defined as a person by my trophy profile. It's not going to get you a bigger raise at work. It's not going to make life easier. It isn't going on your resume. It's not going to get you a better interest rate on your loans.
Popular Post Elvick_
For me, as I said in the other similar thread, my trophy list is a history of my gaming since I started my account. That’s the primary reason I enjoy trophies. Looking back and seeing stuff like Crash Commando takes me right back to the fun I had with it, and surprises me on how many trophies I actually got in it vs what I thought I got. So I wouldn’t ever delete my history and start over. I did hide some games, but they were games I hated and only got a few trophies in. And Burnout Paradise, the EU version which I knew I’d never get to finish if I were to get it it’d be NA. So figured I’d just hide it. But even that is a memory, since it’s still there. Do do what you want. Only you know what you want to get out of trophies. (I got Burnout Paradise from a free month of PS+ after the PSN outage if anyone was curious, I used my EU account to get it, but played on my main) Edited May 22, 2018 by Elvick_
NutellaOrgies
I don't mind it anymore. The only one that annoyed me was the crew because I spent weeks on that only to have one trophy glitch on me. Now I'm just casually going through a couple more quick trophies I can get off that game before I abandon it. I'm not even going to bother with that dirt road mileage trophy or the 500 gold skills trophy since I can't plat it anymore.
Terra
I wouldn't delete my account other unobtainables. I have plenty on my profile (looking at you Midnight Club: Los Angeles). Much like @Elvick_ I like looking back at my trophy list to see what games I played and enjoyed and what I accomplished in them. I've had this account for almost 8 years now. Deleting it would greatly disappoint me.
merciful84
Yes and I even sometimes play games knowing I'm not going to bother with the platinum or ones without them. SURPRISE! ?
Popular Post NewVegasNick
Your trophies represent your gaming history. Why would you delete that? Nobody is perfect
Ripper
My average trophy % is around 94%. I’ve had this happen to me a few times where games I’ve played now have unobtainable trophies. It does suck, but I play for me and nobody else, so I’m comfortable being in the knowledge that my list represents my gaming and so while I wish I could get some trophies I can’t get anymore, I won’t lose any sleep over it.
Popular Post DrBloodmoney
Having unobtainable trophies on my profile is the best thing that could have happened to me! Knowing 100% is impossible stops me from falling into either of the two worst trophy hunter pitfalls: 1. It stops me from every falling into the temptation of refusing to play a game because of difficulty. and 2. It stops me from forcing myself to carry on with a game I don’t like just to try and 100% it. If a ‘perfect’ profile is impossible, then the tyranny of the pursuit of one is dulled. If anyone wants to look at my profile and claim I am a ‘noob’ or a ‘casual’ or whatever, simply because I only have 94% completion, they can feel free, but I flat out guarantee that I enjoy the pursuit of improvement - while playing whatever I fancy - more than they enjoy the maintaince of their ‘perfect’ score by carefully cultivating a list of ‘achieveable’ games. HOGIE838EIRE
I'll probably be the only one who will tell you different lol. I just started a new account after weeks of struggling in my head to try and just not let incomplete games bother me. In the end I succumbed to my OCD. Luck based trophies like The Last Guardian's catch Trico in the act I just could not get. It really annoys me and I've no desire to keep trying to get it, I'd prefer to start the whole game again and try for it instead of just trying to get that one trophy for days - that doesn't make sense lol. Then Call of Duty, they are great games but I hate the mp so I'm never gonna get those. Plus the other games I tried and didn't like or were too tough. I'm going to play all my games on a blank account and only sync when I unlock all the trophies now. I'll avoid mp games that I know I won't complete too. My other account is @Hogie838 In the end if staying with this account is going to constantly wreck your head then you may be better to start a new one sooner rather later. It's up to you only you know the answer... hope that helps in some way.
Popular Post BigBossImBeamer
Why don't you start a new account play one game to 100% and then stop hunting. ? That's the only way you can make sure you won't lose your 100% completion rate! Seriously, sooner or later everyone will lose their 100% rate. It's just not possible to keep a 100% rate without luck unless you only play very old offline games. I'm a completionist from the very beginning, but I had always known that I will lose my 100% rate someday due to server shutdowns, glitches, patches, DLCs... Besides, games are more important to me than trophies and I won't skip a game only because I can't be sure to get 100% in it.
dmland12
Just now, drthomys said: 3. Keep playing and don't care about not having a 100% profile. I agree 100% with this! I've got a couple trophies in Madden 15 that are unobtainable for me due to server errors. It was one of the first few games I played on PS4 and the problems with these trophies were not widely known (and only seem to effect some people's accounts, most seem to be able to get them with no trouble... who knows why or why I'm one of the unlucky ones). Really, the last time I checked this problem still wasn't widely known. You'd have to dig into EA's support forum to find out about it. Probably almost everyone will pick up some unobtainables along the way if they play enough games. And research isn't always enough to avoid it. Maybe I'm lucky to have had it happen so early in my account. Knowing that you'll never get 100% makes things more enjoyable. You can take a leap on something difficult that you're not sure you can do, for example. Really try to push yourself, you know. And as it turns out, you might actually be able to do it sometimes! Maybe I'd still do stuff like that anyway, but I don't know. If I was aiming for 100% as a goal, there's stuff I've done that I probably wouldn't have even tried to do in the first place. And if/when you run into something unobtainable again, it's not a big deal.

RJP_X
yeah its kinda too late for me, with a 6-7 year old account and started hunting back in 2012. near to perfect completion is very appealing, but that's been out the window. oddly, i only started caring about that when i visited this site. all those numbers on your profile page can really rev up your OCD, i still haven't figured a solution to deal with it. statistics like world/country rank, completion percentage for profile. wish there was a feature to block what you wanted on your page to avoid the stress lol. IoIly
A lot of people dont buy great games cause they cant obtain all trophies or the game need a lot of time to be completed. I dont judge nobody but you miss a lot:)
Popular Post Zenpai
I mean... I like to get 100% completion for my games... but I stop just short of OCD behavior. If the game looks too grindy or too hard, I just come to terms with the fact that it'll never be 100%-ed and just move on. For example, up until this year, I managed to 100% complete all of my games. ALL of them. And then, very recently, I got 3 games I just had to give up on in a row: Dragon Ball FighterZ: The Set For Life trophy requires you to mindlessly grind zeni for 100 hours. Yeah, I don't know about you, but I value my time and there are other things I'd rather spend it on than this poorly thought out trophy. I'd already bought out the entire shop anyway, so I'd literally be doing it for the trophy and the trophy alone. Taiko no Tatsujin Drum Session: Considering this is the amount of skill you'd need to 100% the game... I just said screw it and just played until I was satisfied. Bayonetta 2 (not a Playstation title, but anyway): The original Bayonetta was hard, but the sequel takes the difficulty to a whole other level. Unlike the original, where you could easily beat Rodin - if you knew how - in this game, you need godlike skills to do it. I tried so long to do it, but I just ended up a with a growing list of failures and an extremely sore index finger and wrist muscles (from evading too much). I literally had to stop playing for my health. So... yeah, this is the kind of thing that will make you put that 100% profile into perspective. Granted, I always knew that this would happen someday, I'm just amazed at how long it took for it to happen. Given how I'm also not a Plus member nor intend to be, as soon as I get my first PS4 game with online trophies, that platinum will go out the window, too. I'm still gonna go for 100% whenever possible, but if it just looks like too much trouble, I'll just... move on. Life's too short. And skipping out on great games just because they can't be completed or because they're too hard is foolishness, in my opinion. If you like the game, just play it. I know I had tons of fun with the three games I detailed above. And that fun's not going anywhere just because I couldn't finish them to perfection. Having fun with the game should be your end goal, not the trophies.

Nightstream88
I don't try for a 100% profile would be too much of a headache for me to do and is impossible for me to do at this point. Considering I have games on my account with trophies that are glitched, Dead online servers or the servers went offline in general. And I generally just don't care to play online that much either guess if I did try for 100% I probably would've started it when I first made this account. Nexuds121
It's no secrecy. I have unobtainable trophies. But yeah I still keep going on my trophy run. But my old PS4 is about to give out. So all my progression trophies are postpone until I get a PS4 Slim. But I don't know about PS4 Pro though.
