I did it. While the loading screen appears it takes 1 minute and 50 seconds you can watch youtube, Facebook, etc.

Well, kudos to you.

I still think it sucks, that the method is possible, because it lowers the "worth" of the platinum.

Anyway, I'll finally continue with XCOM after a one year break.

Cautionary tales for any Commanders out there who are super psyched by this exploit!

If you don't use the exploit when moving your people, and an alien pod finds you, they may shoot at any unflanked units of yours. Ask me how my Untouchables run ended :/

It is best to just use it even when moving and exposing alien pods. As they will not get a chance to shoot you this way.

Faceless and Chryssalids will still have an opportunity to attack. When they shapeshift/unburrow, they will be allowed to move to your unit, and then attack. Nothing you can really do about it.

Andromedon Robot Shells will also be given a chance to move and attack at the start of your turn following the turn you kill the pilot. Much easier to deal with by just staying out of their range.

I was getting the PsiGate, and was losing people to Chryssalids left and right. I had just a lowly Ranger left with a Magnetic Rifle. 7 damage to the GateKeeper. 6 of that negated by armor. 1 damage for 20+ turns. That mission took 54 turns. Occasionally I would move my unit because I knew there were more Chryssalids around and wanted to scout a way to make them revealed but not attack my unit. I couldn't find a solution. I just gave up and moved the Ranger next to PsiGate and let 3 Chryssalids attack. He dodged 2 of the attacks but took major damage by the third. Thankfully moving him there did reveal all 4 remaining enemy units.

It's not fool proof, but if you can figure out a way to deal with the Faceless and Chryssalids, accept that loading times suck, and are patient, it makes the Plat a difficulty of like a 2/10. I save-scummed my way through the rest of the XCOM Enemy Unknown Plats because dammit it worked! I don't enjoy this game on harder difficulties where mission reward luck can mean failure.

If you want something to do during the loading screens, pick up a PS VIta and play Zero Time Dilemma. Part of the 999 franchise, very straightforward platinum once you understand what the heck you're supposed to do.  I was able to complete the entire thing during one Commander Ironman playthrough's loading screens. It was free on PS+ a while back check your backlog.

Just posting to say this still works and if you upgrade your PS4 with a SSD the load times are much better, like 20-30 seconds.

Thanks for your answer, because I tried the glitch on the digital version of the game and it's not working (I'm surely doing something wrong, I'm so bad at triggering glitches lol or it only works on retail version..).

My PS4 is also very weird, bought it at D1 in 2013, more than 2000 hours of lifetime, still working

Glitch or not, this platinum is pure hell either way.  Skip this game if you want to salvage your nerves.

It's not that bad. Comes down to learning the AI mechanics, oh and never use the specialist (useless class).

If you need a hand let me know, always happy to help a fellow Nova Scotian.

Truth be told the initial hurdle with Xcom is when you're just starting out and don't have the advanced weapons, armor, and skills that make things so much easier later on.

I'm all good man.  Gonna save this platinum for either my 11,000 trophy or Plat. # 250.  Or if I want to get real fancy, set it up so both of those accolades have this platinum.  :P And specialist VERY useful.  If you have one with good hack skill you can get intel and all kinds of bonuses hacking things during missions.  They are also great for deal big damage on robots.  Never count the specialist out!! ?

TBH, Xcom: Enemy Unknown was the hardest of em all.   I still have nightmares where I am being chased through dark alleyways by monstrous XMB buttons. :ps::ninja:

PS, where in NS are you?  I'm in Halifax.

In vanilla you can only max out a Sectopod hack attempt to around 75%ish (too much rng reliance for my taste, compared to a blue screen ranger using rapid fire).  Bonuses are nice, but survivability and being able to quickly kill pods is more important. Specialists are only able to attack a single enemy per turn, whereas every other unit can target multiples, increasing your squad's overall damage per turn.

If we're talking DLC, the specialists are completely outclassed by reapers, who can also hack.

PS, Just outside of Parrsboro

saw a youtube video bout this exploit. it still work? have this game in library for a while. been hesitant to play.

It should still work.  It has been fixed on WOTC dlc.  If youare going for the plat or 100%... you are in for a ride with or without exploit.  If you are not an Xcom fan and going for plat. I recommend skipping this game.. but it's your call.

It was still working in August of this year. I did a playthough and popped a lot of the difficult trophies using the always your turn exploit.

I just finished the game and realize this method exist after finishing the game, honestly this method counter the crazy unfairness of the last mission.

Anyway stop complaining this method only works if you are not playing ironman mode which is needed for the platinum.

Planning to play this in the future and personally I don't see a problem with using an exploit/glitch like this when it's part of the game. Not only do many people, myself included, want to have FUN with games rather than suffer mental and physical stress over doing psychotically hard things "legitimately", but also we've only got so much time in the day and in our lives; a method that ensure you won't have to start additional multi-dozen hour playthroughs for a few measly trophies is all good in my book, that's time you can spend playing other games. Let people have fun, don't be a self-absorbed gatekeeping jackass about a video game.

Loading times are insane using the glitch.  But this game is your enemy right from the start.  So I had no problem using the glitch.  Last I heard it works wit everything except WoTC DLC.  Good luck!

My 8th Legend/Ironman run fell into a similar glitch without even having to do the save and quit out method. I was doing an early rescue VIP mission and all of a sudden as I was moving, the enemies were just stood in their encounter area and weren't moving or attacking even when I triggered them. Even when reinforcements showed up they would just land and stand still. I was even able to get a few trophies I didn't expect to get in this run because of it. There was a little longer loading wait after I had finished my moves but it made it a piece of cake. No idea how it happened but I made sure I finished the full playthrough that day just in case it fixed itself if I saved and came back later.

I just found out about this last night when I was on my Ironman run, no soldiers died all game and only 4 soldiers for last mission. I was on the last mission getting worried about it then I found out about this and put my middle finger to the game for that last mission. It's broken BS that mission, especially with only 4 soldiers. BTW I think this requires way too many playthroughs to platinum it where each campaign is like 50 hours long.

Does anyone know of you can make this glitch work permanently without loading every time. I have read from people on YouTube they only did the glitch once and the enemy could never do anything for rest of playthrough?

Sorry to ruin the elitists' day but I shall add that, at least in Ironman, you can use Load Game rather than Save & Quit, this speeds up the process since you go straight to the second loading screen rather than having to go back to the main menu first.

I also think I understand how to trigger the glitch just once, and don't have to reload everytime. It can't be done in Ironman (I think), but once activated it carries over saves so you can load an ironman save afterwards and it should work, and won't wear off until you close the game (or switch to War of the Chosen most likely).

Pre-requirements are that the camera won't stick to your character despite being your last action ongoing, and that you spot a pod without the camera moving yet to the enemies where they scream/talk before moving.

I think that the glitch is most likely triggered when you perform the skip turn glitch (again, no Ironman to initiate it) while you uncover an enemy pod but the camera won't transition on them yet (specifically I am refering to the usual camera showing the aliens of the pod screaming/talking), because they are waiting for your character (last turn before aliens' one) to stop moving before the camera moves to them, and you do the skip turn glitch as usual but before you stop moving. It is just a theory, and might not even be consistent, you know it worked because once you load back, the camera will sit somewhere for a while before you can play.

This can save some decent time, especially because the Codex won't dupe, the avatar won't teleport, chryssalides and faceless won't attack when they first spot you (not will the andromedones on phase 2). However during the aliens' turn you gotta wait for quite a bit despite nothing happening.
