Known Issues: There is a case where the % complete bar can report 100% before the puzzle has been solved (or even immediately). Please ignore this and allow it to run as long as you are comfortable for before attempting a new puzzle. The puzzle will continue to run until it is complete regardless of what the % complete reports. This version addresses the following: Worse performance on story level 12 in v1.1. High memory usage (most puzzles should use far less memory now). Changes to how the % complete is calculated. Attempting to provide general guidance to how difficult the puzzle is in terms of total number of combinations that need to be attempted with: Easy, Medium, Hard, Harder, Impossible. NOTE: Just because a puzzle says its impossible doesn't mean the solution will take forever, but it does mean that if it has been running for awhile, it might be a good time to generate a new one. Also even easy puzzles can sometimes take awhile to solve (less likely but I have seen it happen). General performance improvements, most puzzles should solve within 5 minutes or less. As always if it seems to be taking too long (over 40 minutes is where I would kill it) try to generate a new one in the game. [Update for v1.1] The program has been updated, please use the latest version and report if you have any issues. This version should address: Difficulties with Hardcore lvl 3 - It should resolve all possible variations of Hardcore lvl 3 now without having to restart multiple times. In testing a dozen or so most of these were solved in less than 5 minutes now. Solutions for Square lvl 4 should be faster. Added a progress bar to give some sense of where we are in the processing. The progress bar also includes a stop button to allow you to quickly halt the puzzle solving at any time. Thanks! [Orignal Post] As I stated in the other thread I ended up creating my own solver for this game as it was fun for me. Sorry I didn't make the promised delivery of last weekend I got a little busy! This program should be able to solve all the puzzles in the game very quickly ~ 2 min or less for most of the hardest puzzles in the game. The only requirement is that you run it on a Windows machine as it was developed in .NET (sorry mac / linux people). [EDIT] Some of the 6x6 square puzzles may take a bit longer as its a ton of variations to try, if you get lucky they will be easy to solve. the harder ones can take over 20 minutes, just bear with it. A ReadMe can be found here along with the compiled releases on Github. All the source code is public so if you don't trust a random stranger on the internet go ahead and download Visual Studio Community 2017 (free) and compile it yourself. It will (eventually) solve every puzzle in the game... there is a certain bit of luck involved in how quickly it finishes some of the hardest puzzles. I might have been remembering it a bit off as for every puzzle being solved in < 2minutes. I just tested one of the Square 4 levels that I found an image of online and it took awhile to solve it (20+ minutes). I did use this program to hit what was the top time on PS4 at 1 hour and 4 minutes. Funnily enough, I also got an error (after about 5-10mins) on the very same level, haven't had a chance to reset the level and try again but it's odd as the other levels worked just fine. EDIT: Level 3 Hardcore required about 3-4 tries and it was very taxing for the processor (98% processor usage), level 4 square was actually very fast and with no problems. Imyanub Posted June 16, 2018 Author Share Posted June 16, 2018 Hardcore Lvl 3 can end up eating a ton of memory depending on how many valid number combinations can be used on the long 8 box row. I have been testing some changes to hopefully improve hardcore Lvl 3 and square lvl 4. My suggestion for now is if it fails (or crashes) restart the level to get a new board.
