Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #5 - The Solus Project - Final Impression Time played: about 6 hours Trophies earned: 17/43 The basic gist is, you crash on an alien planet and while you explore you encounter signs of civilization which you try to find out more about. You get ongoing main objectives, but can freely deviate from the path to explore. Exploring let's you find food, water, plants and some misc stuff for basic crafting. You can also find relics and other secret items like bag space upgrades. Relics give you boosts to resistances, movement and to breathing under water. Depending on the difficulty level the resistances become more or less useful. The most useful item you get in the first area is a teleporter, that lets you shoot a disc for a small distance to which you can then teleport. This allows you to shoot the disc through a small gap in a wall and then emerge on the other side. Sleeping is one of two ways to manually save, the other one are save monuments. Relying on autosaves isn't an option as they are few and far between. I've basically completed 3 areas of the game and so far I haven't encountered any enemies. As such the only ways to die are dehydration, starvation, drowning and falling (and maybe getting sucked in by a tornado or getting hit by a meteor shower). During the day it gets extremely hot while at night it gets very cold. So you might want to sleep during the night in a cave and explore at daytime, occasionally dipping your toes in the ocean to cool down. One of the areas you explore is a cave, that's essentially pitch black- So you'll do good having a torch with you or you'll fall to your death at some point. This was also the only area so far that had jump scares. There are little sea urchin looking things, that are completely black until you get close to them. Then they let out a sound and suddenly glow red. At one point I accidentally equipped my torch under water, which then extinguished of course. Meaning I had to try and navigate my way back through the darkness to try and find a fire to light it back up again. Of course I run into those little fuckers who scared the crap out of me. That's pretty much i for the gameplay. The sound design is pretty good overall, but graphically it's a bit meh. While the island and caves look alright the foliage just looks kind of weird. The sky looks horrible and the water is the worst I've seen in a game for a long time. I ended up enjoying this more than I thought I would, but I can't really explain why. The gameplay is kind of mundane, but the exploring all the nooks and crannies make is fun somehow I guess.

Life is Strange: Calm before the storm Life is strange: Calm before the storm is an interactive adventure game, from Square Enix. This is the second game but also the prequel of Life Is Strange. If you know Life is Strange you know how this works, only you play with a different character and you make nice graffiti art instead of pictures.. (and you don’t have the special power max has *no spoilers here, right?*) The game starts when you are hiking towards a party where you (Chloe) aren’t supposed to be. When you get to the party, and you’ve inspected your surroundings or you didn’t. You find yourself enjoying the band, and some story elements happen. You’ll meet your new friend! Hello Rachel. I Don't want to spoil to much of the story but I really liked it I'm definitely gonna play this game again w/o looking for all the collectibles just for fun . I’ll continue with the controls. Since I’ve played Life is Strange a while back. I still knew how to walk / run etc. it just all came back. Like how you can check your messages, or see you graffiti art you’ve completed. There are 3 episodes and there is a bonus episode that is actually the prequel of the prequel.. this tell the story of how Max and Chloe were best friends and how they lost sights of each other. I think that this game is going to be one of my favourite games this event, I got it platinum within the 3 days I didn’t use a guide just took my time looking for all the collectibles etc. So after this game my completion went up a bit again. It’s now at 63,74 completion it’s currently not really going good for killing my completion, but I’m sure something will change that in the coming games ..

Popular Post Oobedoob S Benubi
Bonus letdown #1 - Middle-earth: Shadow Of War First dayTotal playtime: about forty-five minutes I was going to do two bonus games if I found the time, so I could put my total number of games on seven. I got this €5 discount on a used game thanks to responding to an e-mail asking for my opinion, and decided I'd give Shadow Of War a shot. I loved the first game (it was my first ever platinum) but thanks to them delaying the game until October, which was filled with Assassin's Creed Origins and Super Mario Odyssey and South Park: The Fractured But Whole for me, I decided this one just didn't make the cut. No, microtransactions weren't the deal-breaker for me. Neither was it why I didn't get Star Wars Battlefront II (it was the short and disappointing single player story in that case). If people don't want microtransactions, they shouldn't pay for them, that's the only way to make them go away in my opinion. Boycot a game with microtransactions, and you just get a less selling game but with a higher percentage of buyers who also pay for microtransactions. Anyway, decided to give Shadow Of War a go, but I was bored so quickly... I don't know why but it just didn't appeal at all. It should appeal to me, but it just doesn't. I'm kind of moving away from AAA gaming a bit but I doubt that's it as I still get excited for Assassin's Creed games, and the Shadow games are basically Assassin's Creed with more mind control and monsters. I'm going to get a refund tomorrow, and I'll either get Wolfenstein II, which was another game I was eyeing, or I'll just get PSN/eShop credit. Shadow Of War will get a complete edition eventually (who are we kidding), I'll get that one when it's €25 or so. Until then, I'm left to wonder if this game might have pulled me in if I had gotten it day one, like its predecessor did.
Popular Post Kevvik
Game #5: Spellspire Day 3 Impressions Time played: 10hrs Ok, so I reached the summit! 100 floors complete and dragon defeated. Still have 1 star to go (beat dragon with full health) and some stuff to buy. What else? What is a tower without a dungeon? Here the grind begins... So there is still another dragon to beat but after climbing for 100 floors, apparently I have to go down 100 levels of dungeon. The kicker? Going down doesn't work the same as going up. Now you have challenges ( kill X monsters, kill X monsters with letters starting with 't', and a bunch of others). Three challenges gets you a trophy. Five trophies clears the floor. So apparently I have 1500 challenges ahead of me. Then a dragon. Wow, talk about grind. So, this is going to be a do a little here and there for the next few months from the looks of things. Oh well, I'll get to the platinum eventually... Until the grind, I really liked this. Looking ahead, I can see my opinion tailing off a bit. Time for something else I think... Trophies earned: 16/23, 59% for B rank Score so far: 6/10 Completion rate: 80.23% (-0.56% for the event) Next up: Game #6: LEGO Marvel's Avengers On a side note, I got my 6000th trophy "Dungeon Master". Beyondthegrave07
@Ezio Auditore, nice review! I have the first one and stopped myself from grabbing this one last Christmas because I still have the first one... Sounds like I made the right decision. Also, I agree with your viewpoint on microtransactions as well. If you don't want them in games, then don't pay for them. It takes a collective effort to make a change, but it always starts with one person.
Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #6 - Need for Speed - Preview It's been a while since I played a Need for Speed game. The last time was actually during KYC 2, if I remember correctly. Back then it was NFS Rivals, which was alright overall (still need to get back to that one eventually...). The only NFS games I enjoyed were both Underground games and Carbon. So I don't really have high hopes for this one. Expectation: I expect this one to give me some proper tuning options again, as it's been a while. The story will be cringeworthy as fuck, that's pretty much a given. If the music is like most of the other NFS games, I'll probably end up hating it. So I*m already mentally preparing for that. On the plus side, there are no online trophies as far as I know,. Well technically they're all online, as the game won't run without being connected to the internet. Someone kick the person who had that brilliant idea in the shins please...

Popular Post dmland12
Game #5: Hand of Fate Trophies: 18/53 (31%) Completion: 93.56% (-0.88%, -2.72% from start) Hand of Fate is a card-based RPG. You've got a few decks of cards (with plenty of new cards to unlock), and well... it's easier to pick up and play than it is to explain, so I won't try to get into the rules exactly. Overall, I found it to be an interesting game, although there is a lot of randomness, which will probably bother some. You start out with some basic gear and need to move through some cards (rooms/encounters) to eventually fight a boss. If things go well, you'll get better gear, or bonuses, or something. If things don't go well... you might find yourself fighting against some of the toughest enemies. Or you might just miss out on unlocking more cards. The early levels are fairly easy, but the randomness and difficulty does ramp up fairly well as the game progresses. There's just a lot of different ways things can go. When you face enemies... they're drawn from a deck, so maybe it's the weakest ones or maybe it's one of the strongest ones. Oh, you won some gear... ok, that's drawn from a deck, so there's randomness there too. Randomness everywhere, but it works. The randomness does make things more exciting or sometimes more annoying, and it prevents the game from getting too repetitive. But if you don't like much randomness in your games (or trophies, since there's some that depend on getting specific items together etc), you'll probably want to steer clear. The combat is basically 3D action RPG or maybe hack-and-slash. And like the rest of the game, it starts out pretty simple, but can get more complex and difficult as you progress. If you're interested, here's a short video of one encounter on a later level.

Popular Post crimsonidol38
Game 5, Review Muv-Luv Extra / Muv-Luv Unlimited (PS Vita) Previous Posts:Day 1 Due to the fact that this is a visual novel with no real gameplay I will make a rather short review this time. During the last two days I spend about additional 12 hours on the game and I was able to see both Sumika's and Meiya's ending, and also one common ending (let's just call it the gag-ending ). After the first two, three hours of the story it got a bit more serious but the game still featured various comedy-elements which surely helped to keep the interest up. Reaching one of the two main endings (either Meiya or Sumika) is rather predictable as there are clear choices you can choose from. It surely will be a bit more challenging for getting the other endings which resolve around some "secondary love interests" (and one other common ending) as there are fewer options where you can influence their sympathy. Will try to do most of it blind, though. Story-wise I enjoyed most parts of the routes. But it was clear to me which route/story I would enjoy more right from the start: Sumika's. Reasons: - red hair ✅ - tomboyish behavior ✅ - just-the-average girl ✅ - funny expressions ✅ - totally a tsundere ✅ Yep, surely one of the stereotypes I enjoy. And I wasn't disappointed. . The spoiler just shows some of my favorite expressions (NO story spoilers). Spoiler The fan service is rather tame in Extra and I honestly think that there's no problem with the missing of the adult/h-scenes as they don't add anything to the story (and IMO they would also have spoiled the mood for at least one ending): Don't know how this relates to Unlimited and Alternative, though. Those seem to rely a bit more on fanservice but time will tell. I want to finish at least all other endings of Extra until the end of KYC by spending 30 to 60 minutes per day. Unlimited and Alternative will be read ater the event. As it's a "normal" Visual Novel there's no difficult stuff to do so the plats are granted more or less. Overall I enjoyed my time, as the novel felt kinda fresh due to all the different takes to the art direction they took. Slightly animated backgrounds and character movements, mixing the drawing styles and including various over-the-top segments surely helped to spice this novel up. Popular Post vin_rob
Everybody’s gone to the rapture Everybody’s gone to the rapture is a first person art adventure video game. The game looked really good, and there were nice effects in the game. But to be honest I didn’t really liked this game, I’ve finished it. But got really frustrated with the controls I had the feeling that most of the time the running didn’t work. So after a while, I basically restarted the game and followed a guide for the trophies. And somehow didn’t really cared about anything.. I think that because of the controls I just lost patience with it and just wanted it over as fast as possible. I didn’t really payed attention to the story after a while.. I think this was due to irritation of the controls etc. It did raise my completion to 64,01
Popular Post PerryToxteth
KYC777 Game No. 3 Walden, a game Playing Time: 6 hours Trophies Earned: 20/28 (60%) A ranking Final Thoughts: “I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear...I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms...” So you may not actually have the drive to live in the woods, but with Walden, a game, you can now game in the woods! The above quote was written by Henry David Thoreau, and in this game, you get to relive his experiences of his year in the woods. It's a very odd game theme (live as a 19th century poet in the woods) but the developers, through a grant by the National Endowment for the Humanities, actually delivered a pretty decent game. The game play has aspects of a wandering explorer, survivalist, educational and fetch quest game themes to it. You are the transcendentalist Thoreau, in the first-person, and you begin your game in the mid-1800s on Walden Pond in New England (to shake off the cob webs on your English literature, Thoreau really did live a year in the woods and wrote about everything he encountered. I mean EVERYTHING). The survivalist feature immediately comes into play as you need to constantly acquire four essentials in the game; food, wood, shelter upkeep and clothing. Food depends on the season but berry bushes can be relied upon for most of the year, you can fish, and you can choose to plant (and tend!) a small bean field. Wood can be chopped or driftwood can be picked up along the shoreline. For your shelter, you can hammer nails for a bit but don't wait too long, otherwise you will get too tired and pass out from exhaustion. Clothes can be mended or purchased. Icons on the bottom of the screen will indicate what you are lacking in. When you have time, you can explore the woods. As you discover things, you can find ways to use them to your advantage. And you will discover many, many things. Every time you look at something, Thoreau will jot it down in his journal. There is a trophy requiring 100 notes so keep looking at every odd item. Chances are you will find new food sources, etc. Thankfully, Thoreau moves much faster than your character in Everybody's Gone to the Rapture. He can also run but will tire out after awhile and it depletes your food reserves faster. The fetch quest aspect really brings the educational quality into the game. Your mentor, Ralph Waldo Emerson, lives just up the road and will give you missions to do. Also, you can head into town (Concord, Mass.) and pick up odd jobs. Other 19th century heavyweights like Horace Greeley, Louis Aggasiz, and William Lloyd Garrison also come into play and give you a variety of tasks you can choose to do, and as they are tied to trophies, most of us would try to complete. Your parents also live in town and can feed you and give you clothes if need be. There is also a general store which sells a bunch of stuff, and a post office to keep in touch with your literary contacts. After putting in 4-5 hours, I successfully made it through my year in the woods. It actually was much more entertaining than I envisioned. There's a lot of stuff to do, a lot of text to be read (if you're inclined), and it was never boring. The game is new so there are no trophy guides I could find. After playing through it once, I will need to do two more play throughs to platinum it, as there were a few missables, and one trophy is tied to never going into town. The price is a bit much right now ($18.99) but I would recommend putting it on a watch list and grabbing it when it goes on sale. Considering what the game's focus is on, it does it really well. It certainly isn't an exhilarating game, but it doesn't set out to be. I would rank this as Sweet! Personally I think Origins was a good return to form but Legends is amazing. I think the level design is great, the music is excellent en there's loads of variation in the game. I especially like it when the music synchs up with the movements (or the other way around) in the final level of each world. Dis it if you want, but in my opinion Rayman Legends is one of the best platformers in the past decade. That it's not super tough is not a big downside for me, I git my challenge elsewhere. Rayman Legends is clean good fun, and its speed and level design help in keeping it fun for me. I didn't play the original Rayman so I can't compare. I didn't own a PS1 (at the time I was a PC-only gamer), and the only PS1 game I've managed to play through in the modern era is Castlevania Symphony of the Night. But Origins and Legends are great, with Legends honing the good stuff from Origins into an awesome package. Rayman Legends is widely considered the best 2D platformer of the past decade. I can't speak for MMDE, but I would imagine if I platinumed both games (and Legends twice), I would be sick of them like just about every game I've Platinumed. That's why I'm glad I don't play them that way, but instead play them for simple enjoyment.
Popular Post Myu
Day 15 - Game 5 Tokyo Xanadu Tokisaka Kou is a high school student with a part-time job in one of the bars of the entertainment districts of Tokyo. Right after his shift is over and he's ready to go home, he notices Hiiragi Asuka, one of his female classmates, quietly strolling down the street. Two guys with ill-intent spot her too and decide to follow her. Kou goes after them and, right before he steps up, a red portal door appears out of nowhere. Hiiragi doesn't seem too surprised but Kou certainly is when he ends up in a weird dungeon-like place. 10 minutes in and I already had a major feeling of deja-vu. I immediately thought of Persona 5 but then I took control of Kou and I realized : Trails of Cold Steel! And it's made by the same company! There's even the same « active voice » system that allows the characters to chat while you're exploring. Then Kou chases after Hiiragi and find her surrounded by demon-like creatures. Far from being a damsel in distress, she pulls out her phone and uses it to summon a sword to kick everyone's ass. When the fight is over Hirragi dials something else on her phone and puts Kou to sleep, making him forget what just happened. School life goes on until Kou starts remembering little bits and pieces here and there. There's Free Time between school and Kou's part-time job, just like in the Persona games. Reading books and newspapers improves your stats, you can talk to lots of students and unlock more info about them. You can also use Kou's phone to get voicemails with the NiAr social network system. I really like the chara design even if it is still very stereotypical. The music is ok so far but nothing too crazy. A nice thing that was added to this game is the name of the voice actors with each character introduction. I have a feeling that I'm going to enjoy this game a lot. Popular Post MarkusT1992
Game #5: Bioshock Remastered Would you kindly read this review? I guess everybody has at least heard of that phrase. "Would you kindly" is one of many memes to come from games. Now to my review: I played the first few minutes of Bioshock on the 360 but stopped and I can't remember why. So the game is basically new to me. Bioshock is a first person shooter. It is set in the city Rapture which is underwater. You reach the city throught a lighthouse after a plane crash. After your arrival in Rapture you are greeted by a man called Atlas via radio. He tells you that Ryan, the founder of Rapture, has trapped his family and wants your help to stop Ryan. Later when you reach the place where Atlas' family is supossed to be Ryan does something I don't want to spoil. That's all for the story so far. On your way to the places Atlas sents you you have to fight Splicers of different kinds. Splicers are humans that have gone mad because of ADAM which gives some supernatural powers. To fight those creatures you have your normal weapons like pistols or shotguns but you also have the so called plasmids that grant you special powers like an electric shock or an incinerate abillity plus many more. You can use the electric shock to electrify water to damage every splicer standing in the water which is a nice add on. The same with fire. Sometimes there is oil on the floor which you can ignite. There are also big metal dudes called Big Daddy protecting Little Sisters. These Little Sisters are an important ressource for ADAM. That's why Atlas wants you to harvest them on your way. Dr. Tenenbaum instead wants you to spare them. Now you have to choose what to do. Harvest them for their ADAM or spare them which will result in less ADAM but they survive. But to do that you first have to kill their Big Daddy. Saving them will grant you presents from Dr. Tenenbaum after every few of them. In my playthrough I want to save every Little Sister. Bioshock is a level based shooter but you can go back to previous levels if you want to. The levels so far are quite big and take some time to complete. You normaly have to explore the whole level to finish all objectives you get from Atlas. Scattered around the map are some vending machines. There you can either buy ammo, health kits or other useful things, change your equipped plasmids, buy new ones or upgrade your weapons, depending on the kind of machine. You can also hack the machines to unlock some more things to buy and lower the price. There are also cameras and turrets you can hack so they work for you. The last thing you can hack are safes which contain good items and are generally the hardest things to hack. Hacking works as a minigame where you have to flip over tiles with pipe pieces. You then have to form a path from the beginning to the end with these pipes. Most of the time it's pretty easy to complete but some more difficult hacks are a bit tricky. Also it's a bit annoying with time. I already got the trophy for 50 hacks in the second or third area. Bioshock is the best game I played so far in this event. I think I said it several times already but I normaly don't play shooter and when I do I play single player shooter like Wolfenstein or Far Cry. I enjoy a good story more than any multiplayer shooter. And that's what Bioshock is. A shooter with a good story (at least so far). The gameplay is good although I would have preferrd a cover system. But appart from that I enjoyed my time with that game and actually want to go on. But as always I don't know how long it takes to get back to the game. Spike is the obvious target but Amy probably won out in the end for me. There are just a couple "online" trophies, which aren't very hard and don't require other players. One is completing daily challenges, I think there's three per day. The other is doing enough missions to rank up to a certain level in a one-month span. Similar to the other trophy, but with a time limit. The last one is dlc though, and it can be skipped as it would take close to 100 hours to 100% the game. Dlc trophies include "prestige" requirements. ?

Spike is the obvious target but Amy probably won out in the end for me. There are just a couple "online" trophies, which aren't very hard and don't require other players. One is completing daily challenges, I think there's three per day. The other is doing enough missions to rank up to a certain level in a one-month span. Similar to the other trophy, but with a time limit. The last one is dlc though, and it can be skipped as it would take close to 100 hours to 100% the game. Dlc trophies include "prestige" requirements. I've already started zoning out whenever the cutscenes happen, as it's just drivel. Funnily enough, I've only just realised, that I got a trophy from the 1st DLC. Must've been free at some point or been added automatically, as it's not a genre I'd ever buy DLC for. Popular Post DamagingRob
Final Review- The Talos Principle Well, I'm not sure how much more there is to say. Seems to be a common problem, with how much I usually type on day one. :/ Puzzles get very difficult to solve, and I barely solved any of the DLC ones myself.. Really gets ramped up there. Plus, I think my brain was fried from the base game, and I probably should have left it for a later date. Really liked the puzzle aspect of the game, but the story was kind of weird and not all that interesting to me. Not to mention, all the reading of computer screen notes, that I ended up just skimming a lot of. But the puzzles are really well done, and it's definitely worth playing if you enjoy Portal or similar games. There are also a ton of Easter eggs. I only really went out of my way for one, but the faqs I used on Gamefaqs when I got stuck list them all at the end. Portal, Steins;Gate, pictures of kittens, a bunny island, and an actual Easter egg just to name a few. This was the one I found: Spoiler Anyways, really good game, but Portal retains its title of the best puzzle game. I'll give it a . Time played: Not sure. 25 hours is the Platinum estimate, so guess I'll go with that. Trophy progress: 40/40 for 100% and an S rank. And this is finished too early. :/ Kinda tempted to start another game and continue dropping that percentage, but there's also nothing else I really want to play..

Yeah, I started unlocking them randomly as well. I think the digital version off the Playstation Store automatically includes all dlc.
Popular Post eigen-space
First Impressions Claire (Vita) Current Time Played: ~2 Hours Current Game Completion: 42% for A Rank (8/16) Not much to this game, but I'm enjoying the story so far. You basically just traverse a maze of hallways by going through doors, pipes, and vents while sometimes avoiding ghostly figures. The goal is to try to figure out what is happening/has happened to Claire. Apparently the Vita version requires 2 play throughs versus the PS4 which only requires one. The difference is that certain collectibles are counted as "items" in the PS4 version whereas they aren't counted as "items" in the Vita version-- the Nightmare Difficulty does not give you enough "true" items to get the trophy for items in the Vita. Hence two playthroughs-- one on normal (for items trophy) and one on Nightmare (for a difficulty trophy). Starting Completion: 92.16%Last Reported Completion: 92.00%Current Completion: 91.33% (-0.83 / -0.67)

The Vita version runs considerably worse and it has a bug that requires you to quit the game in order to fix it. Whenever I died in the Vita version, my "interact" button would stop working and instead it would be bound to jumping.
