Popular Post Jelly Soup
Yeah, the assist mode doesn't work they way you'd think. Have basically turn in on twice, it's kinda strange. Then again, it's good for turning it off if you're only using it to help in tricky spots. 20 minutes ago, wesleyisgreat777 said: Anyone who used assist mode to get the platinum should be banned from this website Nice hot take there, champ, we'll all take that into account going forward.

Unless (s)he really, REALLY enjoyed the game. Your time is better spent on Super Meat Boy or other platformer that actually rewards you with a prestigious platinum. Matt Thorson is just like these Ratalaika guys, he made the plat accessible to anyone only for more buyers. But at least Rat games costs 5-6$ at max, not 20$. Great game I could watch on Youtube and basically have the same experience. There's no point on releasing a challenging game and give platinum after minimal amount of work. Furi is an excellent example how it should be done, it has "Promenade" difficulty that allows everyone to enjoy the game without unlocking a single trophy. Despite hoarding Rat games for cheap platinums, I like to tackle a hard game from time to time and Celeste would be very high on my list if not the Assist Mode. But I understand that from economic aspect, it's better to satisfy mass people that want easy plat than some strange freaks that want a rewarding platinum. Same with Conan Exiles and several other games, purposely giving admin mode which can unlock trophies.

So, the games have no value besides the trophies? On one hand you hoard a dozen of Rat games, on the other hand you do not see a point in playing a game that gives platinum for no effort. (At least I don't see Celeste on your trophy list, correct me if I am blind). I fail to see logic. Well, whatever.

The higher the difficulty of the game, the bigger's the difference between playing and watching this game. I just watched Celeste Assist Mode speedrun and seeing invincible character blasting through levels with infinite dashes just make you wonder if there's reason to play with these tweaks on. The only fun part may be strawberry hunting all by yourself. On the other hand, 100% Celeste without assist mode will take a lot of skill, rage and sweat... Just to receive an 28% rarity uncommon plat. I'm buying Rat games because they are cheap, Celeste isn't the cheapest indie game out there and still costs around 10-12$ on sale. I consider buying it at around 5$, it's not that I feel I must play this game. But with its excellent reputation and many rewards, it must be worth this amount of cash (on the other note, I bought critically acclaimed Owlboy for that amount of money and was disappointed). So I think I'll just wait for a sale. 40 minutes ago, SlimSanta94 said: Assist mode was added to help people who are new to platformers experience the story because the gameplay was too hard for some people and the story is the main selling point of the game, the whole games industry doesn't revolve around trophies. I don't care how people play Celeste, the game just lost in my eyes with other games because of trophy list, which I consider a big part of every game. I wonder if people would bitch about From Software games if they would have an assist mode like Celeste to make game accessible to everyone and you could unlock trophies with it. Probably much more than here, because the whole Soulsbornesekiro community revolves about "git gud" phrase.

Th For some reason you only have the two extremes. You either play everything with full assist and don't get any fun or play to 100% without it and get uncommon plat. What happened to enjoying the game first and then getting really hard C-side levels with assist? Why is that isn't an option? At least I can agree about Owlboy being overrated. Poor gameplay with nice art.
g-bake_1986
I think Spinosaurus needs to also consider that many devs don't really care about trophies that much, and that could also be the case with Celeste. Trophies aside, this is a difficult game that has an assist mode to help struggling players experience the whole game IF they choose to use it. I'm presuming the trophies were an afterthought (as they should be) and I doubt the devs really lost sleep over how rare the platinum would be. We all love trophies here but the game is the most important thing (apart from those shitty ones that were only made to sell a platinum). And I don't really see the "I could just watch it on Youtube" point of view, you could do that with any game. Yes, and if the devs want plenty of people to experience the game and implement assist mode, great! But I'm with @Spinosaurus Rex, I think that assist mode should, similar to Furi, disable trophies.. That's all. That way everyone can enjoy the game, but the game still rewards dedication and persistence. ?

That's fine and I don't have a problem with it but it seems silly not to disable trophies when you turn assist mode on It just devalues it 21 hours ago, Spinosaurus Rex said: Anyone who struggled to get this completely unrewarding platinum without assist mode is an idiot. Is there really any difference from getting the SMB platinum and getting the Celeste platinum (legitimately)? At least for me, I play games for the enjoyment I get from playing it first and then focus on trophies afterwards when I get bored.
