Is this game any good?

As my title asks, is this game actually any good?

 

I keep seeing it being advertised & described as Left 4 Dead with Aliens which is what initially got my attention as L4D is a game I hold in very high regard, it is the sole reason I bought an Xbox 360 back in the day & I spent hundreds of hours on it with friends.

 

I know it doesn't have the PvP aspect of L4D but how does the rest of the gameplay hold up in comparison or in general if you haven't played L4D?

 

What's the replayability like? Is it always the same missions or do enemy layouts, spawn locations, weapon locations etc change?

 

Do the characters talk or interact with each other? I know I'm comparing to L4D again but on that all the characters regularly talk to & interact with each other through the levels about the level they are on, characters backgrounds, escape plans etc. (the game literally has hundreds of unique lines of dialogue) & call out enemies etc.

 

Can you respawn when you die if other players/AI are still alive or is that it until the end of the level?

 

And lastly how is the game best played, solo or with friends/randoms?

To be blunt, it's GARBAGE. It's not appealing to look at or play and doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as l4d.

I see no one has answered this properly so I'll try as I recently just got it.

 

Enemy Locations and Spawns - Yes they are very random like Left 4 Dead and hordes come in at random times to test you as well as the boss enemies like a tank randomly popping up in L4D

 

Weapon Spawns - for the 15 - 20 levels I played there does seem to be set areas where some items are as it  plays a long with the little dialog of the story thats there.

 

Characters Interactions - Yes there is lines of dialog between characters to what extent I have not fully found out.

 

Respawns - Now this is something I like as someone who got all the gamerscore in Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2, I sunk a lot of hours in to solo and co-op play in the L4D games. But the AI where not good unless a Co-op Player was there and if it was solo play you died and it was over. But here as long as 1 AI is alive it can res a whole dead team.

 

You will go down like L4D and just have a pistol, then you go unconscious, in this state another player or AI can come and res you back into the game. No lockers or cupboards they just need your body.

 

As for how its played, I have only played solo and Co-op with a friend and I enjoy it both ways.

I wouldn't call it a bad game but it certainly isn't a good one either. It's basically left for dead with aliens but it does absolutely nothing new or different to hold its own, hell it doesnt even do the basics that well either. It's best played with friends but even then it isn't really fun because playing on easier difficulties is a cakewalk and playing on harder ones is straight up unfair. I played it before the big "invasion" update and was hoping that it would add some things to make the game better but was just disappointed even more when I saw that they locked all of it behind an unnecessary grind. Very mediocre game,I'd say it's a 5.5/10.
