No physical version?

Recommended Posts

Well, the games are episodic, and so releasing them all at the same time on disc before each one is actually made and released digital would make no sense. In other words, you'd at least have to wait until they've finished the episodes, which often isn't near the release of the last episode.

That's not how it's been with Telltale's previous games. The first episode would be on the disc and would grant you with the possibility of downloading the rest once they release.

You could always pre-order a physical edition. It would have the same release date as the digital one. However, only the first episode would be on it. That's how it's been for years.

It has been that way with some of their games. They've also had digital only games much later been released on disc. Point of physical if you're just downloading anyway?

It is odd that they haven't announced physical editions. Game of Thrones released the disc copy before the final episode came out. Then after that, the disc copies came out a few weeks after the first episode would be released. The release date of the retail edition was announced alongside the date of the first episode.

This has been true for:

  • Minecraft: Story Mode/ Deluxe Pass/ Season 2
  • Batman/ The Enemy Within
  • The Walking Dead: The New Frontier
  • Guardians of the Galaxy

I suspect it is due to the restructuring in Telltale due to the apparent "crunch" conditions that occurred in 2014-2017

If Telltale had said before hand that there was going to be a physical release of TWD The Final Season I'd of waited & got that but like many people I was lead to believe there was going to be no physical release so went & got the digital version

Yeah, that's what they wanted you to think.

and their both labeled Season Pass Disc wouldn't the final season already be completed by that time to have all episodes on Disc?
