1.24 patch question.

 So i decided ta pop back into destiny 2. After about 1-1.5 month away from the game. See what was new; granted ive hardly done anything in the game... Only got to level 11 before getting bored.  Being level restricted by story progression felt. To me stupid..

 

Sure sure lv 10 going to a lv 15 area might not be the best. But least id have a challange....

 

That aside..

 

 Poped in the disk.

Ps4 qued update

....

 And proceeded to tell me. That i needed just under 43 gigabites to patch destiny 2. That; was already sitting at 56 gigs on my hdd..

 

 So um

 

Does anyone have any idea why this patch is nearly the size of the games base install ( as of 2 months ago)

 As a side note.

 

 Ps4 States im currently on patch version.

1.22 to 1.24....

40 gigs.....

Because it's the Forsaken DLC which has as much, if not more, content than the base game. It's a massive expansion.

 

It's an online only game which means everyone's versions have to be compatible so everyone needs the same version.

Oh i undersrand the online part.

I was just stating my version.

- before others chimed in saying its prolly 1.0 to 1.24

 

Played ffxi for 14 years so i understand quite well

 

I just didnt think forsaken was going to be so huge i had also forgotten it droped

 

Oh well

 

Now i know why its so vast

 

* quick google search showed 1.24 was suposed to be 6 gigs. Lolz

1.24 was 8 gigs and 1.23 was like 35 or something. They were both Forsaken content and came out the Tuesday before and the Tuesday of it.

 

It also overwrites some since mine is currently at 81 and your math would be 99. Probably the changes they made to some core systems.

Ok..

 

1.25 Patch droped.... I 

 

Now. This morrning as soon as i boot up ps4.  Im told i need more space for the new patch. After downloading 43 gig. For. 1.23 and 1.24. 

 

 The system now says it wants 44 gigs of free space. For 1.25. 

 

* moments later after warhammers 1gig patch it tells me it wants 19 gigs free to patch*

 

I have 75.7 gigs free on hdd.

 

 Im told the patch is only 93 mb.

 

So wtf? 

 

Why is my ps4 acting a patato

There was an exploit for the new raid that needed to be patched.

The PS4 when checking for patch space checks for the entire games size + the patch. So if the game is 50 gigs, you'll need over 50 gigs free just to download the patch

I just cancled the. 1.25 patch.

 Then re started it. And it was only 193 mb.

 

 Would be insane to have had to download 80 some gigs in patches from 1.22 to 1.25 over the course of 3 days.

*hadn't launched destiny in 2 weeks*

 

 Also already having 75 gigs available

 

The system was just being really stupid
