Collecting Medals?

Anyone know how to collect those medals by any chance? I've seen them around (at least I assume they're medals), I drive into them with a vehicle... but nothing happens, they're still there spinning and all that, can't seem to understand how to collect them right now.

That... is a weird way to pick up medals, will keep that in mind when I jump on again though.  But thanks for that answer, was very confused as to why touching them wasn't working

Yes it's very weird but I found a medal that I couldn't touch because of its location and so I found this method.

The last few are placed in the weirdest places, some in the middle of nowhere so you really have to explore every inch of the entire map. In the last town (Northridge) they placed some high up in the buildings which you can't see using the triangle view. I would anytime your in that view is just tap L1 or R1, sometimes it picks up a medal you didn't see. Oh yeah, try and find the UFO.

You also have to be close to a medal to collect it, so when you enter that view after pressing , you can easily select it for being nearby
