ClearCrow
Hi everyone, okay, so I've played the FromSoftware-Games a bit out of order. Dark Souls2 (PS4)->Bloodborne->DS3->DS1 Remastered->DS1 (PS3)->DS2 (PS3) I know that the servers of Demon's souls are offline now so I wonder if it's worth it to buy it now (or later). Is it a REALLY good game? Will I like it if i loved all the other ones? Is it easier or harder than the other ones? Will it be a doable platinum without using coop (without grinding too much)? I hope you guys can help me out of this problem ?
kidson2004
Yes you should. Demon’s Souls is a fantastic game. The grind is like other souls games, and the boss battles are amazing (albeit a bit cheap but what boss isn’t nowadays lol). So in short, play it, you’ll like it. Bartolomeus
It's a great game and absolutely doable without coop. However, it will require quite a bit of grinding - some of the upgrade material is hard to come by. By playing offline, you'll also have an easier time with the world tendency. I'd encourage you to play it.
Dragon-Archon
Yeah definitely get it, Demon's Souls is a great game. Even with the servers offline you can obtain everything yourself.
Undead Wolf
Yes, fans of the series should absolutely get Demon's Souls. It's still one of the best Soulsborne games without a doubt. I did the whole game solo and I remember it being quite grindy, but I don't think it was as bad as Dark Souls 3 offline grind. Maybe a little harder than some of the other games in the series but you'll be fine.
ClearCrow
Thank you guys! These sound like some solid opinions ? I guess I'll try out "the best of the family" by time
Sergen
Maybe it's worth mentioning that the server for Demon's Souls was also independently revived by someone and they've explained how you can go back online for it: https://github.com/ymgve/desse it is also allowed by this website if you want to use it. But I will say it still is unnecessary if you only want the trophies, but I guess if you and another person who can help you with the game want to do it, you can do it through the custom server for the game. clickclick-uhoh
I'm pretty sure @MMDE wrote a guide on playstationtrophies.org that I used. AFAIK it's still up there and was a great resource for me since it was my first souls game. I played all offline and had no trouble with world tendency by using his guide. Xyleh
Yes. You'll see lots of concepts in Demon's Souls that feel familiar from Bb and DkS series, so it'll be nice to see the origins. I don't personally find it to be all that difficult compared to cheesy mechanics in Dark Souls. The World Tendency will be much easier to control offline as well. But let's be honest, it's not even the origins https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King's_Field That is, but it's first person. There's also this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_Tower https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_Tower_Abyss And to a certain degree this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echo_Night https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echo_Night_2:_The_Lord_of_Nightmares And more this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_Ring ^ Available on PS4 with trophies, and yes, they fixed it so you can 100% it now. A bit this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evergrace This game has a bit similar story elements as Demon's: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_Kingdoms Edited September 17, 2018 by MMDE

There's enemy models in the Demon's Souls game taken straight from King's Field IV. The battle system is very similar except first person. You go the same types of damage and stats. Many of the same weapons, enemies, names, spells etc. The same type of atmosphere. Much the same type of level design etc etc. King's Field is Souls just first person and a bit slower. I didn't think it was all that relevant to mention since it doesn't have trophies.
LordBilbanes
It turns out I have a copy of this game in my library. Apparently, my mother owned it previously. I am considering giving the game a go.
