Instructions for Infinite Ammo Glitch in plain English

When I looked online to get assistance with the infinite ammo glitch for this game, I struggled to understand the instructions because the method on playstationtrophies was written in sub-par English, then the trophy guide on this website describes the method incorrectly. This thread will truly explain how you can activate the glitch, this glitch will twist the difficulty of Twisted into Easy mode. .

 

You must have 2 PS3 controllers plugged into the game to do this glitch, I'm sure if you want the Twisted Metal platinum then you definitely have a 2nd controller. 

 

Firstly you need to delete the patch for the game, this will only be possible to do with the retail copy of the game, you can delete the patch by going to the "Game" tab on your PS3 XMB, then choose "Game Data Utility" then press  on your Twisted Metal game data and choose "delete". When you go back on the game, press  to ignore version 1.06 and don't attempt to sign into PSN when the sign in option comes up on your screen. 

 

Secondly, you need to start the first battle of the game on Twisted difficulty, then pause the game and quit that battle, this allows you to get a save file that you can choose the resume option on. 

 

After doing the two things above, you can follow the instructions below and activate the glitch. 

 

1. From the main menu, choose "Multi-Player", then press  while hovering over "Offline Split: 2 Players".
2. Hover over "Deathmatch", then press , this will take you to the game settings menu. While in the settings menu, you need to scroll down to "Unlimited Weapons", then toggle the option to "Yes" by pressing  on your d-pad. 
3. After toggling "Yes" to unlimited weapons, press  once, this will take you back to the 2 player mode options. 
4. Now when you're in the 2 player mode select, press  while hovering over "Deathmatch" again, then toggle "Unlimited Weapons" to "Yes" and press  to apply those settings. 
5. Now you'll be at the vehicle select screen, what you have to do is press  with your player 1 controller and don't do anything with your 2nd controller, after readying up with player one, spam  with your player 1 controller until you return to the main menu. 
6. From the main menu, select "One Player", then "Story" and hover over your Twisted difficulty save and press (Not ) to resume the game, after resuming just pick the vehicle you prefer the most (Sweet Tooth recommended for deathmatches, Crimson Fury/Kamikaze recommended for races), then when you're back in that match you'll have unlimited ammo. 

 

I hope I explained this in the most understandable way possible, as I know the frustration of people not explaining shit correctly. This glitch takes the platinum from a 9/10 difficulty to around 3-4/10 difficulty and you're gonna need as many glitches as possible to get this game done on time before the server shutdown. To unlock Warthog for online mode, you need to beat Twisted difficulty with Gold medals on every level, part of the requirements for "Any car will do" is to get 50 kills with Warthog.

 

To make the game even easier, you can change your controls, I recommend using the "Racing" button layout, as this makes the game play a lot like your standard racing game, with  being reverse/brake,  being accelerate,  being missile/special attack and  allowing you to use your turret. After using these controls, pick Sweet Tooth for any deathmatches and hover over his "S" move and keep spamming  to use the "Laughing Ghost" move, which hits enemies through walls, also hold  all the time to hit any enemies with the turret if any of them come close to you. 

 

You must re-activate the glitch any time you quit the game and come back to it, the glitch gets reset if you turn off your console. 

 

I don't know if I expect anyone to come here and say "wow, this is cheating, why can't anyone play fair?", but when the servers are shutting down, you want to make the most of the time you have left to get those trophies.

You need to do it every time, but once you remember the steps it only takes around a minute to set it up. Also, the glitch makes the game so easy that you'll likely be able to beat Twisted difficulty in one sitting anyway.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: the glitch won't work at all if you turn off your ps3 and then you come back to where you stopped, you have to start the whole campaign all over again, i mean whatever campaign you're doing IT MUST BE DONE IN ONE SITTING.

I'm pretty sure if you just press  to resume the campaign every time you do the glitch, you can come back to the game later on and make the glitch work again. I was able to activate it on my save file multiple times while working on the game, as I used it to complete Twisted difficulty, then I used it to get the "TMA" trophy and I used it on Hard mode to get the trophy for beating the Metro Square map with 5 seconds left on my grace meter. You only can't activate it if you have already completed the campaign, so make sure you get gold on every event on Twisted before you complete the whole campaign on Twisted, otherwise you'll have to restart the game on that difficulty setting.

Hmmmmm i'll try that thanks Sergen and by the way i am stuck on the racing event called Desert Twisted Race - Diablo Pass, i am having a real hard time in it because of the Crimson Fury car, now all i know is i have to destroy it to make the race easier but that alone is not easy at all because that car is super fast so any tips ?

I just remember being lucky enough to destroy it, you can keep holding  to use the flamethrower, which will do a lot of damage, also I think you do have the freeze missile on the game by that point, so press  to hit Crimson Fury with that to get a bit of a head start. Also use your turbo throughout the whole race, by double tapping  to activate it. All these tips assume you're using the "racing" button layout, if you're not using that yet, I recommend you do because that will already help to make the game easier for you.

Yeah i do all of these things but i fire the purple rockets it's also strong and now i made it with gold pheeeeeeew

You have to beat the first battle of the game fairly, but it's not too difficult to overcome that, it can just be time consuming, you could fly up higher than the enemies are with Sweet Tooth's flight ability and hit enemies with the laughing ghost if you want to play it safe. If you choose to manually quit on Normal then you will have a death added to your record so TMA won't be doable in that case.

Normally i don't like these glitches but with the server closure coming up, its been a life saver. Definitely makes the gold medals a cake walk

Without the glitch I consider this game a bit too unfair in regards to doing it, 1 death in a match of the campaign causes you to fail it and you take a lot of hits to kill an enemy. All in all, campaign mode can go fuck itself.

but u mentioned "then pause the game and quit that battle, this allows you to get a save file that you can choose the resume option on." ...??? or do u mean after u set up the setup then u can't quit during the campaign later or else it adds +1 death?

The controls on this is so weird, was gonna do this normally but no idea how before shutdown, I'm on level 2 normal atm w/no glitch, I'm going to have to start a brand new save right?

The game saves after you either complete a battle or quit a battle, when you do the "TMA" trophy, you're not allowed to die in a battle or restart the battle and if you manually quit the battle then it will count as a death against you, so to use this glitch for "TMA" you need to beat the first battle fairly so you can get a save slot on the game without having a death added to your record. When you do Twisted difficulty, there's no point trying to get "TMA" in the same run so you might as well manually quit in the first battle so you can get a save slot on the game and activate the glitch on that save. You can back out of the game after completing a battle before you start the next battle, after every battle you get the chance to pick the battle again, except before some boss fights.

guess I already have a death, well on Level 1 I did quit so I could go back out & do the tutorial lol, but when I went back in it played the campaign beginning's cutscene again so I was hoping nothing was saved...but I guess I'll have to redo this then

unless i can delete the patch & reuse a pre-existing save hmmm

What do you mean one death causes you to fail campaign? I died a few times but I'm still going as far as I know?

That's regarding TMA, u can't die at all during the campaign nor switch cars or restart a level if ur close to dying. U have to quit to xmb quick if ur about to die

You fail a level from 1 death, although it's designed to be a competitive game mode, basically it's an elimination game mode, but everyone only targets you and they never kill each other.
