Popular Post Empovyle
Here's a short guide that I hope will help anyone trying to boost this game with 3 PS3s/6 players. Any and all feedback is very welcome. Estimated time to finish Twisted difficulty and unlock Warthog: 5-10 hours with the Infinite Ammo Glitch. Estimated time to finish the online: 10 - 16 hours per person if you are following this guide. The very first step should be to beat the game on Twisted difficulty and unlock Warthog. If you are a Twisted Metal pro, you may have no trouble with this. On the other hand, if you just want to get it done as fast as possible, I recommend using the infinite ammo glitch. Requires physical disc version of the game! See Sergen's useful guide on the infinite ammo glitch here: After that, make sure to turn off your clock's automatic updating in your PS3's Date and Time settings, and set it to the beginning of a month in the future for easy reference (for example, set it to December 1, 2018. This way you will know by the time you reach Dec. 30th you will have earned the trophy). After every game, until you unlock the 30 consecutive days trophy, wait until the game says your stats are posted and quit the game to the XMB and change your clock forward 1 day. Then re-host the lobby. DON'T USE THE SAME LOBBY AS BEFORE! Rinse/repeat. You should make sure you get this trophy ASAP. Constantly quitting the game to change your clock settings makes each game become at least 5 minutes longer since reconnecting to the server takes ages. You should not switch copies midway through boosting. If you want or need to switch from a physical or digital copy to the other, make sure you do it BEFORE you start boosting! This is because your stats save to the version you are using, not the online server, despite what the in-game statistics say. In order to transfer Warthog from a physical copy to a digital copy, just join one online match with your physical copy, complete it, let your stats save, then check on your other copy. Warthog should then be selectable. If not, try again until it works. I recommend you do the online portion of this game on a digital copy if it is possible for you, specifically because I experienced zero major glitches while playing the online on the digital version. This game was free with PlayStation Plus back in September 2015, so check the depths of your download list in case you have the digital copy tucked away. When you begin boosting, make sure you are the host. If you aren't the host, don't expect the stats to save accurately. You should only not be the host when you are helping someone else boost. You also need to make sure you are only hosting RANKED matches. Otherwise, all your progress will be for naught. You can check your stats in Multiplayer -> Profile -> Statistics. You shouldn't do this after playing a match as sometimes the stats aren't accurate even after refreshing the page. I found that once you quit and reload the game that the stats become accurate. I also recommend keeping a spreadsheet or document to track your progress yourself, so you don't have to quit the game constantly to check. It doesn't take too long to set up at all. If you forget to track something you can just go to the in-game statistics and correct your mistake. Here are some charts you can use to record your data: Image file Google Sheets (courtesy of SajoAtine) You should be going for everything at the same time!! This includes getting each vehicle to 50 kills, all missiles to 100 kills, each map to 10 wins, each game mode to 10 wins, and ranked wins on 30 consecutive days. Missiles: The missile trophy is the first big trophy you should get, after the 30 consecutive wins trophy, of course. For each map you should be looking out for and memorizing where the missile spawns are. The missiles in particular you need to use are the Swarmer, Stalker, Power, Homing, and Fire missiles. You should be whittling down health to the bare minimum with your sidearms and special weapons before you use the missile to conserve ammo. As you level up make sure you are buying the Killstreak rewards! The one you need to get ASAP is Killstreak +4, which doubles your in-stock weapons after a kill. Here's how you can use this to your advantage to constantly have a stock of missiles. When you start the match, get 3 kills, and pick up a missile you want to dupe. Don't die! Get another kill without using the missile. You'll notice you now have 2 of the missile. Rinse/repeat and you will eventually have full stock of just missiles, and you won't have to pick them up again for the rest of the match. If you die, you will have to restart from step 1. Vehicles: The vehicle trophy is the second trophy you should finish. You can go in any order you feel like, as it doesn't matter. You start off with Outlaw, Death Warrant, Kamikaze, and Warthog (if you beat the game on Twisted difficulty). After that you will unlock reward points as you level up, which you should use to buy more cars and then the killstreak rewards. Some game modes won't let you select certain cars (most notably Talon and Juggernaut), so if you think you're missing a car that you know you have, just try playing a different game mode or map. Juggernaut will be the last car you unlock at around rank 28. You don't need to get any kills with Axel, so don't waste your time! Make sure to use the Killstreak strategy described above to maximize your efficiency with gathering kills. Having duplicating missiles will make your kills go by extremely fast! Modes/Maps: You can play any of the modes on any of the maps. You should only be playing a particular map for 10 games -- which will line up with the 10 wins in the game mode. Every time you switch maps you should also be switching game mode. Make sure you are selecting the smallest playable region of the map possible to maximize efficiency. There are 8 maps and only 7 modes, so at the end you will have to replay one of the modes once. For this I recommend Last Man Standing (see below) The shortest game mode is Last Man Standing, which will only take 5 kills to win. After that the next shortest will be Team Last Man Standing, which takes about 8 kills to win (depending on team size). If you are just looking to grind out map wins quickly then those are the modes you need to play. The longest game mode is Nuke, which takes 15 minutes at minimum or 20 minutes otherwise. I recommend you save this for last and for Black Rock Stadium (Killosseum (M)). Once you score a point on the Offense team, you can set your controller down or finish grinding other things as you are guaranteed to win as long as the other team doesn't also score on the Offense. You can also shorten the length to 15 minutes only if your team is first up at Offense. You have to land the nuke on the enemy statue 3 times in the first Offense round and 1 time in the second Offense round. (Credit to fenris-lima for this information) You can't really speed up the other modes at all. Once you meet the win requirements you need to be grinding out kills and miscellaneous trophies. Or, you can just set your controller down and wait, if you already finished those. The best map, in my opinion, is Black Rock Stadium (Killosseum (M)). Everyone spawns very close together on this small map. There are power missile, stalker missile, and swarmer missile spawns at the very top section of the map, as well as a sniper spawn if you are needing "60 to 0". On the 2 ramps headed up to this section you can find homing missile and fire missile spawns. On the flat ground floor you can find numerous other missile spawns littered all over the place. Miscellaneous Trophies: I heavily recommend you complete all of the following trophies before the shutdown. Even though several of them can be earned offline, most of them are vastly easier with boosting partners. "The Most Dangerous Game": While playing Hunted and while being the hunted, make sure you don't die for 4 minutes and you will earn the trophy. "That. Just. Happened.": During Death Match, play as Kamikaze, and have an opponent shoot you for 149 damage. After that, use Kamikaze's alternate special weapon on the opponent and immediately follow it up with a freeze missile (). "Right Place, Right Time": ONLINE OR LAN ONLY While playing on Black Rock Stadium, go around the map and whittle everyone's health down to a sliver. Then, have someone kill you. Immediately after spawning target the nearest person with a missile and kill them for the trophy. This one may take a few tries, so keep at it if it doesn't work on the first attempt. "Fire in the Sky": ONLINE ONLY While playing ranked Nuke, play as Sweet Tooth; on your turn for Defense, accumulate 3 Laughing Ghosts (Sweet Tooth's special weapon). Have someone fire the Nuke towards you while trying not to crash. When the Nuke comes within your range, fire off all 3 of your Laughing Ghosts to blow it up. "In your Face": During any game of Nuke, while you're on the Offense, fire off a Nuke and hit the enemy statue. This is virtually impossible to miss if you're trying to win 10 games of Nuke. "He's Not Heavy": In any team game, play as Talon (LA Skyline is a good map for this). Fly around until you find a teammate, then use your special weapon and hover over your teammate with it, which will pick them up. "Medic!": During a team game, have an opponent shoot one of your teammates. Then, as Junkyard Dog, use your alternate special weapon to fire off a health pack. Finally, the teammate that got shot needs to go and pick up the health pack, which will earn you the trophy. "Twofer": During any match, play as Vermin; whittle 2 opponents down to a sliver of their health and have them sit right next to each other. Fire off your Rat Rocket special weapon towards them. If they are close enough, they should both die, earning you the trophy. "Tradin' Paint": ONLINE OR LAN ONLY During an online game, shoot 5 enemies down to a sliver of their health, then ram them to death. "I h8 poachers": ONLINE ONLY During an online ranked game, shoot everyone down to a sliver of their health (Don't kill anyone), then have each of your partners kill them so that they each have more kills than you (>0). "60 to 0": During any match, find a sniper pickup. Approach an opponent and press to aim the sniper on them. Make sure you don't press it again yet and waste your ammo. After some time you will get a zoomed-in interface on the screen. This indicates that shooting will become an instakill, which will net you the trophy. "Remote Nuke": During any match, get 3 opponents down to extremely low health, then have them all sit next to each other in a line. Fire off a remote bomb at the middle player, and wait for it to begin flashing red. All that's left to do is blow it up and they should all die together. "Cookie Party": During any match, lower an opponent down to minimal health, then place a drop mine near them. Have them drive over the bomb to their death three times. "Old School": Start an offline split-screen game with 2, 3, or 4 players (it doesn't matter how many). You don't even need to finish the game to earn the trophy. This takes about 30 seconds. At the end of all this, you should have reached rank 30 for "Calypso". If not, play on Black Rock Stadium (Killosseum (M)) in Death Match or Hunted, wiping the floor with everyone until you get enough XP to reach rank 30. You can also view these trophies over at the trophy guide by X_RaceKing_X. Just click the names of the trophies to be taken to their respective description in the guide. ----- And there you have it guys. My "Time Played" according to my in-game statistics is 12 hours, 16 minutes, and I optimized this guide specifically to take even less time than that. So, expect around that time to finish this online before the shutdown. Good luck! BlackJudas
You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar, thought I'd post something to this extent as I was going through it but felt like it'd make a really crappy guide so I'm glad you took away those guilty feelings for me. Great job!
SajoAtine
I took your image and made a spreadsheet in google drive anyone can make a copy of if they prefer it: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-0NjoE8wvLCL3XBQZItxEd6xmx6hLggd1-Er2T9Q68s/edit?usp=sharing Just go to file -> make a copy to make your own. The have column is for the amount of whatever you have earned, the total is required, the need is how many you have left.

Smashero
Great job @Empovyle! Thanks for putting this together. I have a question: 12 hours ago, Empovyle said: When you begin boosting, make sure you are the host. If you aren't the host, don't expect the stats to save accurately. You should only not be the host when you are helping someone else boost. For the "Team" game modes, if my boosting partner will be the host and I will be in his (winning) team, I shall also get +1 win in this mode, correct? Since that will also cut down the grind. Or the issue is that the servers are glitchy and it's not working properly?

jayboo1991
Might be true, but from our boosting group all of those, which wasn't hosting, got the wins counted .. So if you ask me, I guess this usually should count :-)
fenris-lima
You can speed nuke to 15 min if you destroy the statue (3 hits) in one round and make 1 point in your other offense. You will be 6 points and game will apply Mercy Rule and skip the last round since max score would be 6-1. Time to destroy is very close, I could only do it using 2 Talon
Darkette
Not even worth the risk, I would just host every match. Even if by chance the stats do count every time, that doesn’t mean the trophy will pop.

jayboo1991
Well you can still try it by standing in ur friends lobby and after it start with all solo win stuff .. you will definitly see then, if it worked or not. It's still a good time saver, if it works and worth a try, if you ask me ^^ And for the guide - if you play Nuke, better don't play the Skyline Map, since that one is a real pain in that mode. I feel your pain. I saved Nuke for Thrills and Spills, which... is a complete mess of a map. Please don't do this. Not to mention you can't choose to play smaller sections for some reason, you're forced to play the whole map. For anyone that needs Nuke wins please spare yourself the annoyance and pick Black Rock Stadium instead.
Max_Playne
An exelent guide. Probably one of the best guides about how to boost multiplayer game. But I just wanna point out that both "Right Place, Right Time" and "Tradin' Paint" trophies CAN be obtained on split screen. I was only capableto join the TM servers a couple months ago and i got these two a bit after the game was offered on plus when i was unable to join any room.

Thanks, I changed it to say online or LAN only. You did earn them in LAN mode correct? I was basing the statement off of the trophy descriptions, which made me think they were online multiplayer only, but it's good to have a clarification. I assume that LAN will be fully functional after the shutdown, but I'm hoping to test on an alt to see if the trophies can be earned while completely disconnected from a network connection/signed out of PSN. Yes i did. Trophy descriptions are a bit misleading. The only totaly online misc. trophies are "I h8 poachers" and "Fire in the Sky". Not sure either if they're obtainable in LAN after shutdown but i don't see why they wouldn't. Good luck to everyone going for it!

So before servers shutdown 8 MP trophies in total have to be earned in order to get the plat later (requiring finishing SP on "Twisted" as already mentioned): Point, Shoot, Kill - Kill 100 enemies with every missile during Ranked games. Any car will do - Earn 50 Kills with Each Vehicle in Online Ranked Games Another Level - Win 10 Ranked games in each map. Map size does not matter. A la Mode - Win 10 Ranked games in each game type. Fire in the sky - Shoot down an enemy missile 1 time in a ranked game of NUKE. I h8 poachers - Finish a ranked game with the most damage done and fewest kills overall All sales are final - Win at least 1 Ranked Online game per day for 30 straight days Calypso - Achieve the Highest Online Rank Correct me if I missed sth.
