Popular Post Lady Lilith
http://kotaku.com/ea-getting-rid-of-online-passes-507021364 One of the first publishers to dabble in the idea of an "online pass" - whereby gamers were charted a fee for accessing certain online content if they purchased a title pre-owned - has decided to do away with the program. EA senior director of corporate communications John Reseburg has told VentureBeat. “Yes, we’re discontinuing Online Pass. None of our new EA titles will include that feature.” Interestingly, Reseburg claims the decision is based on consumer feedback. “Initially launched as an effort to package a full menu of online content and services, many players didn’t respond to the format. We’ve listened to the feedback and decided to do away with it moving forward.” EA kills its controversial Online Pass program [VentureBeat] It's about time. Maybe they'll finally start getting rid of the other shit like overblown microtransactions...nah.
MoreTheVictim
EA + Listening to consumer feed back = A dream?? Am I dreaming?? But this is good news, even though I have sworn to myself not to buy any more EA titles.
Orlay_
Hm, if this is a sign of them finally responding to be voted worst company then I would be shocked. But hey, it's EA... money first.

rwnica
I really doubt EA will leave online passes without putting something even worse in games, after all it´s EA.

TehCro
People actually complained about this? Probably just the people who would go to Gamestop and get a used game and return it for full price within the week. When has this ever inconvenience someone who didn't deserve it? Even though I completely agree (hell, this doesn't even effect me, since I never buy used, unless it's out of print), there are a lot of people who will buy used, the most common reason being to not support the developer, or something along those lines. BDKSimba
Can someone post some info on EA? I want to know why a lot of gamers hate them buy anyone of their Big name game series. I mean buy da 1st in anyone of their series. play it. love it. then skip forward to da last in said series. U will see that everything ya loved in da 1st 1 gets rip away. then canceled. DanielVT
I think EA is truly does care and wants to earn back the love from customers. No one should be upset with this move.

If people aren't willing to support the developer than what makes them think they deserve to play their games? Astounds me there's people out there smug enough to to think they should be able to enjoy a company's product without actually contributing anything to them.

Christopher
In other news, EA introduces self destructing discs, so if the disc is exchanged between someone beyond the original purchaser, the disc will explode, sending shrapnel into the pre owned buyers face. Seriously though, I think this is just them trying to recover from that Sim City disaster.
