Popular Post Metal Slime King
Game #2 - Rayman Legends () - PS4 (also available on PS3 and Vita) On 11/5/2018 at 1:38 PM, DamagingRob said: Rayman is a very colorful 2d Platfomer. And a lot of fun. The end. It has many levels. And I mean many. I've played through more than 10, and don't even have 100 Teensies yet. Of which, there are a total of 700. All the levels from Origins are included, so it is just packed with content. There isn't much to the story, so far. A brief cutscene at the beginning shows there are new enemies, and a flying bug is ordered to wake our heroes up. Cut to Rayman and co. sleeping in a tree, and the bug slaps him out of it to the ground. And the first level starts immediately. Levels haven't been too long, so far. And have checkpoints sprinkled throughout them, in case you die. And since you can't take a whole lotta damage, is bound to happen. You can obtain a heart, which saves you from death if you're hit while you have one. Otherwise, you probably die. Each level has a number of Teensies in it. These are little blue dudes you can save, and some are hidden quite well. You're also graded at the end of the level, based on how many Lums you collected. Teensies and gold coins give you a fairly high number of Lums, and some are found throughout the level (collecting the purple ones first will give you more points). Depending on your score, you'll get a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Cup. You also will be rewarded with a scratch card between the silver and gold cups. These will give you a random reward, like more Lums, a creature (all are displayed in a room, and give you some Lums daily), unlocking a Rayman Origins level, or a Teensy. Lums also unlock more playable characters, at certain amounts. There are lots to choose from. Some appear to just be different skins of the same character, though. Yoink ! I had fun with Rayman Legends, it's a well produced platformer with a lot of content and a good level of variety in mechanics between levels. I particularly enjoyed the final levels of each world which are a unique blend of breakneck platforming and rhythm mechanics that are an absolute blast. Looking forward to the final world which is apparently a collection of those levels. The graphics are well done, cartoony and colourful. Good layout on the levels I've played so far and the collectibles are mostly intuitive. The music is great in parts but the whistling predominate themes and the silly voices started to grate on my nerves. My biggest point of contention with this game would have to be with the online challenges mode. There are two weekly and two daily challenges available. From what I've gathered about this game there's potentially months of grind challenges after the rest of the game is over in order to get the plat. From what I've seen of the challenge levels themselves, they appear to be randomly generated from a set collection of level chunks with a couple of different objective types. The levels aren't random each time you play on the same day (or week) they just appear to be created randomly so they'll quickly feel samey and uninteresting. There's also the inclusion of the worst type of online trophies, imo, Leader board trophies. There are trophies for coming in bronze, silver and gold once on a challenge level. I've already got those trophies myself without any issue but it's potentially a matter of when I started. Rayman hit PS+ in May, I think, so there would still be new players coming in as they play through their free backlog. If you picked this game up during PS+ or in a sale and put it off for some time, even if the challenges are still online if the only people who are still logging on are the top 1%ers then getting those trophies could be an issue. If you like platformers and can stand a little grind I'd recommend firing this game up but I'd recommend it sooner than later. Edit: I've finished the base game content for Rayman Legends and I still need 1600 XP and 275,000 lums for the platinum. I can grind lums by replaying levels but that XP is all going to have to come from daily / weekly challenges. Even if I go by the very optimistic estimate of getting gold on every challenge it will still take an additional 10 weeks of daily play for the XP alone. Considering the daily challenges are quite samey, I think they should've balanced the XP requirements a little better. Regarding the base game itself, I really liked the rhythm based levels but it was a poor choice to use an assortment of visually impairing filters to make the 'hard' versions more challenging. They were made more challenging simply by requiring you to go through them in one full run, the visual filters were just an additional annoyance. Some of the later 'Invaded' challenge levels were a nice challenge but none of them required a huge number of replays. I'll still stick with the rating but if it's in your backlog I'd start this ASAP to get the server stuff out of the way before there's any hint of closure. If the servers get a 3 month notice and the 'wrong' people all jump on to finish the online then you might not have enough time. DragonQuest238
Unfortunately, I will not be able to continue in this event because I am going to focus all of my gaming time working on my 100th platinum trophy, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, and due to many other commitments(practicing for Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Wizard101 training, etc.) and two other events(Gaming by Numbers and the 12 Days of Plat), I do not have enough free time in the year to do those and keep on the updates. Also, I need an excuse to delete FFXV off of my library because I downloaded it on a whim because it was on sale and I don't really like the game and its massive DLC and upcoming DLC trophies. Sorry, guys, remove me from the list. (I am not copping out just for copping out, I am making a commitment to get to 100th platinum before New Year's Eve.) Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #2 - Drive Girls - Final Impression Time played: about 3 hours Trophies earned: 11/36 So, this is definitely not as bad as reviews make it out to be. It's no masterpiece by any means, but neither are the HDN spin-offs. The gameplay is very similar to Megatagmension, you got your normal attacks, a second attack that does a bit more damage (but consumes meter) and a special attack that basically clears the area. The latter requires you to fill up the meter for the strong attack and channel it into the super meter. This takes about 3 full bars and resembles a charge up occasionally found in fighting games. Then there's the car form, which also uses up the meter while attacking (it's just a spin attack) Defeating enemies will net you parts and money that you can spend on gear and items. The enemy variety so far is a bit weak. I expect there to be more, but for now there's only about 4 types. They are mostly all some sort of brown colour, so the visuals aren't all that appealing, Now there is one issue when it comes to combat. There is no option to block, only evade. Unfortunately the enemies have a tendency to stun lock you, if you're being hit from several side. Evading often doesn't work in those situations. So far I've played up until mission 8, and am stuck there for now. Usually missions aren't too long, but some of them seem to be chain missions. Mission 8 is one of those and becomes annoying due to it requiring you to beat all of them in one go. There are no checkpoints and as suck dying resets your progress, having you start back from the very beginning. Regarding missions, there are your usual combat missions, those chain missions mentioned earlier and race missions. The latter last for 3 laps and running enemies over along the way refills your boost bar. There's also a multiplayer more, that can be played alone. I completed the first 3 out of 10 of those. Well, that is Drive Girls. It's fun, when played in short bursts. If those chain missions become more regular though, it might not be all that enjoyable anymore. It's a , with no potential for improvement .

So as a free library rental, I have the long weekend to really see how it goes. So far not to bad. Every detail lets you know you are in spiders world. Even the entertaining JJJ radio spots that you listen to. Graphically it is a beautiful game and flows really well between actual game play and cut scenes. It plays alot like the batman games and remimds me of the openness of Arkham City. I was suprised though to see how much hard drive space this game takes. At over 60gb, it is a big chunk of data. Will this be a buy someday? Who knows maybe Santa will be nice this year. Along with a extra storage the way going. I also downloaded the free yakuza game and now I think I am back to almost full. This game definitely requires practice. I found the game to be pretty fun until NG++, after which it gets a bit too hectic. If you need any tips regarding the bosses I’ll be glad to help. 19 hours ago, SyIaris said: It definitely starts out harder. Runes and equipment make a massive difference once you get some that fit your needs, and castle upgrades can stack up pretty quickly early on - if you can afford to, dump points into anything that sounds helpful in between rounds. Holding out for one extra hit, being able to throw an extra spell, or having a bit more damage can be enough to get you to some recovery items. Sometimes you'll just get a room your character can't handle - if the layout's good otherwise, locking it down and trying for one with the ability needed can be worth it. ...The remix bosses are a pain, though. I always ended up with at least one or two fairy chests that require me to be small. Bit irritating but since the layout is different each and every time, it keeps the game interesting. The remix bosses are the make it or break it for some. Neo Khidr requires the highest learning curve, and the third remix boss requires a lot of practice as well. Didn’t find them as hard as I expected, but then again I have had over 20 years of experience with platforming games, so that was probably why.

I knew about the cancelled DLC and Tabatha leaving the company. I also know about the seperation of the multiplayer from the main game, but if that means that FFXV will never get 100% trophies, then count me out. I was going to give the game a chance(it being an action RPG) but if they don't remove the Comrades trophies from the list, then I will bow out. It seems like FFXII is still going to be the only Final Fantasy game that will remain my only favorite game in the FF franchise with trophies. Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #3 - Valkyria Revolution - Preview A game I basically know nothing about. I just do like Action-RPGs a lot, which is why I ended up buying it. This game is apparently a spin-off to the Valkyria Chronicles series, of which I've played none. So if there are references to the other games, it'll be of no use to me. It'll come down to how fluid the gameplay is. What I hate in Action-RPGs, is constant interruption of said action element by cutscenes. If a story needs to be told, it needs to be done in a right way. I expect a somewhat fast-paced combat similar to the Tales-off games. If it's clunky and slow like Risen 3 was, I'm going to be upset.

And thus started my adventure to find my heritage, but first, "oh look a village"! Let's go there and do some quests and gain a few tools to help me collect materials. Unfortunately, I got stuck because the game is so open. You can do whatever you want, but I wasn't sure where I should go next. So I consulted a guide, and it said that nothing was missable (hooray!), and that I should concentrate on doing the main mission to open the world up a bit. The control are a bit clunky, and the bit of platforming I did quickly got annoying. It's not so precise. The story's okay so far. I kind of want to know why my character was "summoned" there.

Yonder was a good game, simple and a little clunky perhaps but I loved the art style. There is also so much else to do around the island. There is just enough depth in side content like cooking, crafting, fishing, farming and those are a big part of the trophies as well. Along with one insanely annoying quest to find 55 cats. Popular Post Oobedoob S Benubi
HITMAN 2 Non-VR game #3 First Mission Review Total playtime: about forty minutes Well, turns out my bright idea of doing a first review after exactly one hour might not be the best. Perhaps it's better to just wing this stuff. Anyway I'm in the middle of cooking dinner now and I've done the first new mission in HITMAN 2, so there seems no reason not to share my first thoughts. First thought: damn, this is awesome. Second thought: cool, they're plowing into continuing the last game's story right away. Third thought: ah, this location actually looks pretty open! Cool! Okay, so with a bit more elaboration: first mission's location is a lone beach house at night, where you start at the beach, just having arrived by boat. Seeing as all Hitman 1 locations except Sapienza gave me a bit of a closed in feeling, this is a refreshing change of pace. Something else is different: there's actually no NPCs around, and you're breaking in to gather information, without actually having a set kill target at the start of the mission. The game looks and feels great, and familiar at the same time. Coming straight out of the previous game, it all comes naturally, unlike (more often than not) going from one Assassin's Creed title to another. I'm very excited to play more, but I think I'm going to keep up my anticipation for a bit more and first replay the Hitman 1 levels, as for most of those it's been close to a year since I've sat down and played them with cutscenes included. It also gives me some familiar ground to test the waters on the new gameplay with.
Popular Post dizzyshadow
The last couple of weeks have been pretty insane for me, first being on holiday and then coming back and being incredibly busy at work, i have managed to fit in a bit of gaming time, but i'm behind on my posts here so i have some catching up to do, Firstly Starting Completion : 55.90% Game 1 : Steamworld Heist I picked this game for my list as i needed something i could play on my vita while i was on holiday, wasn't expecting much from it but i did enjoy steamworld dig so was relatively hopeful. its safe to say that even with that its surpassed all my expectations, i haven't managed a whole lot of progress (maybe 7 or 8 levels) but i'm really enjoying it. its kind of hard to categorise the game, its a turn based 2D side-scrolling tactical shooter, it shares a lot of similarity with the x-com games but the perspective is very different. You play as a smuggler/pirate robot "Piper" and her crew, and the mission resolve around ensuring you have what you need to survive but also helping out people. A typical mission involves you being dumped on a ship or space station and having to complete a set objective (kill all enemies, find loot etc), the gameplay is very much based around shooting from cover, so a typical turn involves moving your robots to hopefully safe positions and taking a shot at the enemy if possibly. the game would be relatively straight forward if you had unlimited time as you could just play it safe, but a number of mission give you effective time limits by introducing reinforcements regularly after a certain number of turns which you can't hope to defeat. the most interesting mechanic seems to be the aiming, which is mostly blind and you just have to point your gun in roughly the right direction, this leads to some frustrating moments when you completely miss your target despite thinking you have lined the shot up correctly, note this isn't a criticism of the game as i'm pretty sure this is intentional , and its never got so bad as to be frustrating, you can get weapons with a targeting line to help, but these are generally lower powered so its a trade off. It will be interesting to see how much more there is to this game as i could see it getting repetitive without new ideas, but i'll definitely be going back to this when the event ends. Also I did fail to realise that this has different trophy lists for PS4 & vita so by trying on both systems I've managed to doubly kill my completion. Playtime : 3-4 hours total Trophies : 2/42 on both systems Rating: completion: 50.60% (-0.3%)
Popular Post Metal Slime King
Game #4 - Burly Men At Sea () PS4 (also available on Vita but only has 1 shared trophy list) So I was really going to kill my completion by starting up Red Dead Redemption last night but the single player campaign glitched out three times in a row at the very start. I was quite disappointed and decided instead to download Burly Men At Sea from this months PS+ lineup. I didn't know anything about the game so I fired it up and got the plat in one intermittent session so here's a final review, I guess. Burly Men At Sea is a game, of sorts. The closest genre to describe it would be a point and click adventure I suppose, but there aren't really any puzzles, there are a few objects you can interact with in a couple of different ways to branch the story in different paths. I certainly wouldn't call it a VN because there isn't really much of a narrative. Maybe an interactive pop-up picture book would be an apt description. You control a trio of burly, bearded fellows who find a blank map in a bottle and are thus spurred on in a nebulous search for 'adventure', where ever that may take them. This is a short and easy game. In order to get the plat you will need to play through all 12 unique paths to unlock all the trophies. The individual runs are fairly short and it's pretty easy to see where the branches occur. It does get repetitive going through the same initial sequences to get to the later branches. If you want to bang out the plat in record time then here is a thread with a trophy guide. The graphics are alright, like a simple flash game, the music is fairly repetitive but fits the nautical atmosphere quite well. The controls are a little wonky but fortunately you don't have to do anything too demanding with them. Maybe this game plays better on the Vita with touch controls, I don't know, I never tried. I'd recommend it if you picked it up with PS+ and want to relax with something simple or are just looking for a cheap, quick and easy plat.
Popular Post DamagingRob
Game #3 Rogue Legacy- Final Review Well, not a whole lot more to say. There are four different areas in the game, with different enemies and a boss room somewhere within. And then a final boss after you've beaten all of them. I managed to beat the game in 3 days, but it took me ~20 hours. Though I'm not certain on actual playtime, since I fell asleep during the football game last night and four to five of those hours were idle time.. Starting to feel like an old man. :/ But it probably evens out due to save scumming, and deleting most of my progress on Day 1. It does get easier to get through areas as you level up, and increase your stats/buy better equipment. To the point where you can really be overpowered. I stomped the fourth boss, and didn't even need a strategy. Just kept whacking it till it and its many clones were dead. But this game can really be a slog.. Unless you're good at it, you'll probably be doing what I did. Which is to abuse an exploit to heal yourself. It works, but is so boring and tedious. Certain rooms will respawn breakable objects whenever you quit and reenter the game. And sometimes, you'll find a health item! Enjoy that RNG. It did have something of a story told through diary entries found randomly, and a bit of text from the final boss. Better than Lumo in that department, at least. But I don't know if my overall enjoyment was any better. So, I'll just slap it with the same score: . I know the Plat is going to be a nightmare, since I'm not particularly good and those remix bosses sound like hell.. This game also crashed on start-up a ton. I definitely saw that blue error screen more than ten times. Thankfully, it never crashed during the actual game. But still an odd thing to see. Time played: 20 hours. Trophy progress: 19/30 for 42% and an A rank.
Popular Post Kevvik
Game #3: Forma.8 Day 3 Impressions Time played: Close to 3 hrs Not a whole lot of time to play, even Vita, with having my god-daughter still here (long story) but I think I got close to three hours. Still haven't found any story to speak of. Explored a lot, found blocks I think I need new abilities to get past, found some collectibles and flowers(?) that upgraded my health once I found three of them. Few mini boss fights that made me think a bit but the controls are still tight. What I'm getting at times that I don't like are long loading times (20-30 seconds at times). Not real long but enough to disrupt flow of the game between areas. Died a few times not being careful but it seems to auto save at area entry or at a few checkpoints. Rebirth can also involve longer loading times occasionally. The map isn't bad but I really only use it to find areas I haven't explored yet versus backtracking which I haven't really done so far. Overall, I'm enjoying Forma.8 but it's not exceptional. Trophies earned: 10/30, 20% for C rank Score so far: 6.5/10 Completion Rate: 81.64% (-0.25% for the event) Next up: Not sure what with my god-daughter still here so we'll see what I think tomorrow. Fairly open weekend so I was hoping to work on Silent Hill 2 but not with the little audience. Edited November 10, 2018 by Kevvik

Everything's just a little bit better. If you haven't bought the first game yet, I'd suggest you just skip it and buy the Legacy expansion to this game. Popular Post dmland12
Game #3: Everspace Trophies: 12/34 (25%) Completion: 92.88% (-0.78%, -1.88% from start) Everspace is a roguelike space shooter. This game was a bit difficult to get into since there's a fair amount of complexity here, and not much more than a basic tutorial. Right from the start you'll have two weapons that you will want to cycle between as well as missiles. And also two or three other things you can use. And then you start finding other weapons and modules and will have to decide if you want to switch out your current ones for them. There's lots of other stuff you can find, which you can use to upgrade your weapons etc. Your ship can get damaged and suffer various negatives depending on what's damaged. It's a lot to take in all at once, especially in a game where you can die quickly if you're not careful. I think other roguelikes have it easier here since a lot of the stuff you find is obvious: swords, armor, potions, etc. But, what does a "time extender" do? How about a "mainframe override" or a "nano injector"? I know what two of those are now. Once I had my bearings and found a ship and setup (the cloaking device is awesome) I was comfortable with the game got a lot more enjoyable. The game also gets easier over time, since you can upgrade your ship after you die with the credits you earned on that run (similar to Rogue Legacy). And there's a few other things that you can collect and use to modify your ship. In general, most of the difficulty was in not knowing how things behaved or what to expect the first few times I came across it. Anyway, this is a difficult game to explain without feeling like I'm weighing you down with a lot of details. The bottom line: If you think you might like to play a roguelike in space, you'll probably find it to be fun if you can get through the initial feeling of being lost. I'll leave you with my second encounter with an enemy frigate (I died the first time). One interesting thing about this is that after the frigate was destroyed, it's wreck remained and I could even fly inside of the wreckage to pick up some loot. I thought that was pretty neat.
Popular Post Arctic Cress
Game #1 - Dynasty Warriors 9 Trophies: 11/44 (17% - D) Playtime: 5 and a half hours The newest entry in the Dynasty Warriors series takes the series into an open world. I had my doubts about seeing how this worked and with the very divisive reception this got from various critics, but so far I've been enjoying what I've played. I picked Cao Cao, because I hate Shu and Wu is boring, so it was an easy choice. You can only choose between Cao Cao, Liu Bei and Sun Jian to start off, but several officers are unlocked as you complete missions. The initial missions for Cao Cao unlocked all the Wei officers (literally ALL OF THEM). So far, I've only finished the first chapter which, like most Dynasty Warriors games, is defeating the Yellow Turbans (which unlocked a bunch more officers). Each chapter has one main target and several smaller side missions to complete, as well as various tasks given by allies in bases or castles. Completing the side missions makes the main target and other side missions easier - I managed to make the main target level all the way down to level 1 by completing all of the side missions prior to beating it. The open world can be kind of empty at times, but for someone who likes to explore (like myself) it's a perfect fit. Waypoints and watchtowers are everywhere and provide you with an overview of the area around them, pointing out any castles, campfires, and other watchtowers that may be of interest for further exploration. The watchtowers also give you a nice view of the surrounding area automatically once you grapple up to the top before showing you the map and any new areas of interest. You won't find many of the scenic areas without going well out of your way to find them, and I've already found three, including the peak of a mountain and the Great Wall of China. Apparently you can even go further north than the wall, but it didn't seem like anything interesting was out there, so I stopped at the wall and just ran on it for a while. There were several high-level enemies near the wall so it was a profitable experience. You also get the various tasks I mentioned earlier by exploring castles and bases that your allies control - even had five of these tasks spawn enemies in the same area making it a very nice reward when I turned all of them in. The battle system is traditional Dynasty Warriors, and you can access special moves by using . I typically use + to use the stun attack a lot more than the others, since it hits a wide AoE and stuns any opposing officers. Most officers have multiple health bars and you can only see one at a time - when they get low on health of their final bar, a prompt will come up allowing you to finish them off. There's also prompts to counter both officer and generic unit attacks which also helps. I've also had several battles with wild animals, with a white wolf 'officer' which was an interesting battle. Luckily one musou attack took care of the wolf pack and I picked up about 50 pieces of red meat afterwards. Even on my original PS4 and not a Pro, I still am really impressed by how the game looks. There's some slowdown with large amounts of enemies, but I haven't seen any significant framerate drops or anything of that nature - it's been pretty stable overall. I do miss the voices of the previous games - the new English voices are definitely are not as good as the previous ones, but they're serviceable so far. Overall, I'll definitely play this more over the coming month. Definitely something I am looking forward to. Starting completion: 70.74% Current completion: 70.09% Difference: -0.65% No, it's not all from Dynasty Warriors 9, I also started Word Sudoku by POWGI which is an easy completion (that just takes time) and Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum Session! which I completely forgot was coming out this week (whoops). I would have actually chose it for one of the games in this event had I remembered. Probably will review it as a bonus game later on. Next up for the weekend will be SoulCalibur VI! I played a few rounds of versus and poked around with the character creation during the Extra Life stream I was a part of during my vacation, but that's all I've done with it. I'll take a look at the single player and online modes at some point during this.

One advice regarding the cat quest. There are different kinds of cats from which you need a specific amount. The problem is that most cats only soawn in specific seasons. So if you want to save time at the end you should start collecting cats as soon as possible. I had to wait a whole year to get all the cats. Waiting for like 30 minutes only to collect cats for 10 wasn't that much fun.
Popular Post SyIaris
May need to cut my games down and try to get FFXV Comrades done... bleh. I'll see how well I can squeeze it in. Lords of the Fallen Game #3 (7th-9th) 8.5 hours played 14/57 (-0.67%) Well, thanks to Spider-Man getting an update too, I'm exactly where I was after the first day, percentage-wise. Not quite sure how I managed that... Stopped earlier than planned due to a bunch of crashing (didn't seem to like me downloading at the same time) and enemies I couldn't really figure out how to deal with, but it's definitely gotten more enjoyable. I was expecting a Souls-like game to be pretty frustrating. Turns out it's reasonably forgiving for the most part, though some enemies seem to be oddly overpowered - if I'm playing the tank, shouldn't he be able to take more than 1-2 hit chains before dying? That's got to be dreadful on the squishier characters. Doesn't help that he's still fighting in slow motion, but I seem to be slowly getting the hang of it. Got through the third boss and into the catacombs where a whole bunch of stuff wants to eat my face, and where playing ring-around-the-rosie on stairs is a legitimate strategy. The control scheme is awkward and takes some getting used to, at least when it comes to items/spells and interactions; they offer an alternative layout, which struck me as far better but still has a learning curve. Accuracy seems a little odd - if you're too close you kick an enemy away from you, if you're too far (which generally doesn't look like it), you miss. If you're fighting more than one, sometimes the game will decide you should really be targeting the one that just ran past, and you're sure to do interesting things if you try to attack coming out of a dodge. Overall, it definitely grew on me. Was enjoying it despite dying all over the place, but I'm not sure if I'll return to it or not... jumping back in after forgetting how to play will not be pretty. Think I'll be starting InFamous today so I can chip at both my "in case it becomes unobtainable" games.
