Oobedoob S Benubi
11 hours ago, SyIaris said: I seem to remember reviews on this being quite mixed, and I can see why. There's a somewhat insane number of collectibles with seemingly no way to track them (this is going to wind up being exactly like Thieves in Time with that one missing bottle, isn't it...), and you'll be fighting the camera at times. People asked for a third Banjo game, and were upset when they actually got it - warts and all, without the improvements made by other games since Banjo-Tooie. If all you expect is another Banjo game, with the same collectables, voices and camerawork, then you get what you want. I really enjoyed it (got distracted by a different gsme, I should go back to this soon - playing it on Switch though, the PS4 one is only on my card because I wanted to try it out to see if I was willing to pay full price for the Switch version). My main gripe eith the game is that the side characters are so random and have nothing to do with the levels themselves or Yooka and Laylee's design. Like that female refrigerator that pops up everywhere. 11 hours ago, SyIaris said: Sound is definitely hit or miss. Most of it seems to be great so far, but the first thing I did when they let me move was mute voices - they used Animal Crossing style "pronounce the letter and string it together" speech, but with harsher voices; I found it extremely grating. The second world is snowy, and they seem to have replaced the usual crunchy footsteps with squeaky toy noises. It's pretty funny. Sound is actually pretty much how they did it in Banjo, up to and including the "eh-uhh-eh" voices. It's a love it or hate it deal, I guess.
Popular Post SystmOveRide
Game #4: LABYRINTH OF REFRAIN: COVEN OF DUSK Total Playtime: 4 hours Trophy Progress: 2/58; E Rank I'm just gonna come out and say it, but out of the 5 games I chose for this challenge this one is easily the most fun. If you ever played Etrian Odessey on a Nintendo handheld, this is basically it but for PS4, and it's great. The art, voices, animation, all fantastic. I actually tried to play Darksiders for a bit but wanted to play it on APOCALYPTIC but I was horrible at it so decided to boot this up instead. Aside from playing some PC games with friends, DND, and some car maintenance, I've been enjoying every second of this one! Very recommended!
Popular Post Arctic Cress
Game #7 - Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of the Elusive Age Trophies - 6/59 (8% - E) Playtime - 4-5 hours I'm sure no one needs an introduction to what Dragon Quest is, as it's one of the most well-known JRPG franchises there is. Despite that, I've only finished two games in the series: IV and V, the latter being one of my top five favorite games ever. While I've played a bit of I, VI, and IX (plus Heroes and Builders, I guess) I never really got into any of them like I did with the two games I've beaten. Dragon Quest XI starts off with a woman running away from a burning castle with her two kids, and eventually has them running in different directions to escape their pursuers. The hero, a baby at the time, is sent down a river in a basket and is found by an old man from the town of Cobblestone. Eventually, the hero is told he is the Luminary and he is told to meet the king of Heliodor in the north, starting his journey. I believe that this is the first mainline Dragon Quest game that has voice acting (unless X had it, but we never got that one) and almost every cutscene in-game is voiced. The only character who isn't is the protagonist, who is silent. The game itself so far is standard Dragon Quest - basic turn-based combat and smashing every pot and barrel you can get your hands on. New to the game are campfires which can be found in certain areas - they include a statue that acts as a church for saving your game, as well as the Fun-Size Forge which allows you to craft equipment with materials that can be picked up as you traverse through the maps. I do see why my friends said you didn't have to buy any equipment as the forge makes much better items than what you can buy, easily. I've played through a good portion of the story and got my first party member other than the protagonist so someone can actually talk to others. There's been a few interesting twists in the story so far - I won't spoil them, obviously, but it makes me want to play this a bit more once I finish my last KYC game and FFXV Comrades. Starting completion: 70.74% Current completion: 69.60% Difference: -1.14% Dynasty Warriors 9: 11/44 (17% - D) SoulCalibur VI: 15/49 (29% - C) Gal*Gun 2: 18/37 (42% - C) Yakuza Kiwami 2: 6/57 (8% - E) Shining Resonance Refrain: 10/48 (14% - D) Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum Session!: 26/43 [47% - B] Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age: 6/59 (8% - E) Finally over a 1% loss in completion! Took long enough. Valkyria Chronicles 4 will be the last game before I delve into FFXV Comrades some more to wrap up the remaining six trophies I still need to earn.
Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #6 - Uncharted: Lost Legacy - Review Time played: 8 hours Trophies earned: 13/50 I managed to finish a playthrough of this game, as a result another actual review is coming up. This game definitely looks and feels like an Uncharted game. Pretty much everything is there except Nathan Drake. You got the great visuals, a lot of climbing, puzzles, shooting, driving and of course the banter. This installment fells a bit smoother and fleshed out, but also less action-packed. This game tries to mix linear gameplay with an open world section and it works well for this title. Although it can be a bit of a pain to navigate without a map, which you only get by heading to a specific location in the area. The climbing is great and the addition of a grapling hook is always welcome. The involved treasure hunt is as always a bit of a nuisance, especially in this one. While you can get an item that make a noise and lights up when you are near a treasure, it ends up being more of a tease than anything else. This is because the treasure can be to the left, right, up above or below. This makes the finding of treasures actuially annoying and I would've preferred for the item to not exist at all. The combat is pretty much more of the same, just more fluid. In this game, it seemed like it was possible to get through 90% of the combat sections in stealth, which I appreciate. On the other side of the spectrum, the AI is daft as hell. Having a side-character controlled by the AI is also a bit of a detriment, as they are often out in the open during combat while you're in stealth. Yet enemies are totally oblivious. The friendly AI also often likes to block entrances, which gets somewhat annoying as you can't push them asside. Speaking of geting stuck. The amount of times Chloe gets stuck on a tiny rock and refuses to just walk over it is mind-blowing. All these minor issues ended up bringing the experience down a little bit, including the credits which take a good 10 minutes and can't be skipped. Nevertheless it's a great and fun game, that focuses a lot more on exploration and climbing than the predecessors. It's a .
Caju_94
I won't be able to test Shiness Kingdom on time since I have a little tight schedule this week, so I'll swap it with Cosmic Star Heroine, for the Vita, which I already started yesterday (1 hour of gameplay so far). I will try my best to do the review tomorrow. If not, I will probably do it the 2nd of December as soon as I get the chance.
Popular Post DamagingRob
Game #10 Final Fantasy XV- Day 1 Technically, all I've played is Comrades, so that's the reason for its image being placed. Lol. I don't know what to make of this multiplayer... I'm already over 10 hours in, and have no idea what I'm doing. Likely going to lead to it taking me a lot longer than other people. I see a lot of stuff on the forums about what to farm and build in the endgame. But I need to make some decent shit to get there first, and I don't know how to go about doing that.. I'm starting to think Monster Hunter-type games are really not for me. Had the same struggles with Freedom Wars, and not knowing what to farm or create. Basically, the premise of this multiplayer is simple. You go out on missions, with or without other people, and earn watts and gil for completing them. You then use the watts on a map thing to unlock nodes, which unlock more stuff. Rinse and repeat until you've unlocked everything. Simple, yeah? The problem is you have to farm randomly dropped materials from enemies, and craft good enough equipment to be able to complete the missions. You do level up, as well. But that's pretty slow, and not supposed to be as important as having good gear. I guess I'm making progress, though. As slow and incompetent as I feel.. And I got the Kenny trophy very early, when I tried the Daily Quest for the first time. Two very high leveled players carrying me and some other guy. I also beat the Three Stooges (guys from the main game) who show up in town from time to time, and you have the option of fighting them. Ignis sucked.. That damn counter attack he has would do 9,999 damage if it hit, and instantly kill me. ._. The battle system is pretty fun. Though it mainly consists of mashing , until you need to heal or warp. Lol. Warping is cool, and you can warp strike enemies. Allows you to cover large distances in a hurry. You also want to try and keep a food item held at all times, since this will revive you instead of the mission ending. So yeah, I don't know.. It's okay. Feels like a largely unnecessary DLC and a grindy one at that, though. Time played: 10+ hours. Trophy progress: 5/91 for 3% and an E rank.
Popular Post dizzyshadow
Game 9: Spiderman One of the most anticipated games of the year, i have to admit i was a bit late to the party with this one, i wasn't really feeling the hype and the first review i read wasn't particularly positive. But given the positive reaction since then i was convinced to change my mind and boy was i glad i did. The game is set in New York and you take on the role of Peter Parker, and his alter ego Spiderman, Peter is well established as spiderman and works with his NYPD contact to help stop crimes and super villans, you are thrown right into it and the first section is actually tough while you get the hang of the controls and the way the game plays, but after that it settles down into a more typical open world game with all the things that go with that, you can follow the main story, follow side mission or go after the plentiful collectibles or just explore at your own pace. I'm not really up to date with latest spiderman movies so i'm not sure how it fits in with those if at all, but as a stand alone experience with only basic understanding off the spiderman world the story still works really well. I'm about a third of the way through (according to the game) and i'm keen to see where its heading and which other characters they are going to explore. Now being a spiderman this game was really going to live or die based on the swinging mechanism, and while it does take an hour or two to get used to after that it is really great, there has obviously been a lot of attention paid to this aspect in development, in particular the moves you can chain with swinging which allow you to quickly zip to locations or vault across the rooftops really help makes this feel natural, you can quickly zoom around the city to reach new locations and therefore don't really need the included fast travel mechanism which i won't spoil for anyone who doesn't know, but it did bring a smile to my face the first time i used it. This is likely to be game of the year for me, I've pretty much wanted to do nothing else since i started it. I'll be playing this to completion and i'm already eyeing up the dlc as necessary purchase. Finally I can't believe the platinum rate of this game , over 50% of the people on this site who have played the game have the platinum, i appreciate this isn't the hardest game in the world but it does require 100% completion which i think is credit to the quality of the game that people want to play it to the end. Popular Post Metal Slime King
Game #5 - Burgertime World Tour (?⏰) - PS3 Burgertime Wold Tour is a ps3 re-imagining of an old arcade game by Data East. They took the old 2D platforming and wrapped it around a tube and populated it with 3D characters. This winds up working pretty well. You run around these tower like scaffold structures and as you run over the parts of the burgers you need to make the ingredients cascade down towards the plate at the bottom and your burgers are made. Mutant food items chase you around while you are trying to do this. You can stun then with your pepper, attack them with power-ups or ideally trap them in your burger. It's definitely unique. This is the best Burgertime game ever released, to my knowledge it was the only attempt to reboot the old arcade game. That's not really a high bar though, the original game wasn't that great. In the original game ladders were death, you couldn't get off a ladder unless you were pixel perfect aligned with a horizontal platform and most deaths in my experience were by getting hung up on a ladder and slowed down sufficiently to get caught by an enemy. You can now jump onto and off of ladders which just that makes the game less frustrating to play. There are a lot of additional platforming elements in the new game that extends the game play. The enemy types are more varied in their behaviour and you'll have to know how to respond to each. There are 40 unique levels to unlock including 4 boss encounter levels (though there are only two types of boss encounters that are both repeated twice) which is tons more variety then the original. In one type of boss encounter you make burgers which then clog up and damage a burger making machine and in the other boss encounter you make burgers which a large monster type character then eats and takes damage. What's in those burgers you're making?! I'm not strongly recommending this game to anyone. The graphics are bad, music and sound are nothing special. There is a remix of the original theme that generally underscores the entire game. I found it to be goofy fun though. The tacked on narrative is goofy and the little intro videos at the start of each new world introducing the new enemy type. The controls are functional enough, I had no issues doing what I wanted. Some of the areas are a little cheap, with some leap of faith spike traps in places. It's a matter of learning each stage as you go along and learning a stage well enough to get a 5 star rank is another matter entirely. The game is a bit of a joke but the 100% is no joke at all and if you're a completionist then the joke may well be on you. There's a trophy for getting a 5 star ranking on each stage in the game which seemingly requires a near perfect run. Will I be the 13th person indexed on PSNP to get 100% in this game? Not this week, that's for sure. Edited November 29, 2018 by Metal Slime King

Metal Slime King
@DamagingRob Re: Comrades. After you beat one of the characters from the main game a new mission shows up in it's own tab where you play as one of the 4 main game characters in a mission set in the future. There's actually a trophy for playing through this mission using all 4 characters. It's actually beneficial to get that out of the way sooner than later as when you play that you get a party with set levels and your character level doesn't matter. Although you don't get any XP or Kw for doing this mission you do get some good item drops. You are guaranteed to get an item that will put Poisontouch X on a weapon. I put this on the crossbow I got from either Ignis or Prompto and that was go to weapon for me for the first half of the game or so. I'd start with that and get poison stuck on enemies before switching over to melee until my stats got so high I didn't really care about applying poison any more. There's a chance you will get a club weapon to drop from the evil wall enemy in that mission which upgrades to Thor's Hammer which is a pretty good early game weapon to grab if you can. DamagingRob
@Metal Slime King I think I did that mission with Noctis, unless there is more than one future mission. So, I may have that. I have an Ogre Hammer now that does pretty good damage. I don't know if I want to farm this other one, though I need to complete that mission with everyone for a trophy, so... Guess I could try to get it in the process.
Popular Post Kevvik
Game #10: htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary Initial Impressions Time played: 1 hr 45 min This is a 2D puzzle game from NIS where you play (?) a girl with antlers called Mion. You are awakened in an underground ruin by a green firefly/fairy called Lumen who leads you through the ruin, presumably to escape. You don't actually control Mion, you control Lumen with the touch screen and Mion follows you wherever you lead (walking off edges can occur easily if you aren't watching where you take her). During the second level, you meet Umbra, a purple version of Lumen who lives in the shadows. To activate Umbra, tap the rear touch screen which pauses the screen and shows all the shadows. Using the rear touchscreen, you can guide Umbra through the shadows to certain objects it can interact with to change the environment that Mion and Lumen exist in. Umbra can only move to areas directly connected by their shadows so not everything may be reachable from your current location. Using these mechanics you advance Mion through the environment. Within each level is also a memory from Mion that hint at her past. Here you control Mion directly, the first few memories I have obtained show her fetching things for family members and showing you her home life. This has been an interesting title so far and the game mechanics work well so far though I have yet to try to accomplish anything exceptionally complicated so far. While I like the game so far, I have to admit that I got more into A Rose in the Twilight, another NIS title I played in an earlier event more as the story is really vague so far. Maybe my opinion changes later. Trophies earned: 7/25, 19% for C rank Score so far: 6/10 Edited November 30, 2018 by Kevvik
Popular Post voodoo_eyes
The event is coming to a close, being on it's final day and all. A thanks to all the participants and I hope everyone had a good time overall. As usual continuous updates are welcome until the next KYC comes along. A quick overview from me. With the games listed from best to worst, as well as all the other games I played on the side throughout this month. Uncharted Lost Legacy - A lgreat experience overall that just has a few minor issues. Megadimension Neptunia VII - Proably the best game of the franchise. Not perfect, but quite enjoyable. Yomawari: Night Alone - Has potential to be good, but some of the design choices aren'y very good. One Piece: Burning Blood - It's an alright fighting game that tries to please everyone. SHould've sticked to one thing and make it good instead. Still fun though. Valkyria Revolution - It's interesting and fun in short bursts. The presentation is very questionable and the design choices are a bit weird. Fate/extella: The Umbral Star - Again, fun in short bursts, as it gets a bit dull after a while. Better than most other musou titles I've played though. Drive Girls - Once again, fun if you play 2-3 mssions ata time. Feels a bit basic at times, but it's still fun. Bottom line. Not a single bad game, but several mediocre titles. In addition I?ve also plazed the following: Beholder Complete Edition - Great game. Interesting concept, stoy and gameplay mechanic. Feels original and choices actually matter in this game. Dungeon Punks - This one was rough. Exceptionally clunky and slow and a ton of bugs that break the game. Burly Men at Sea - Wasn't a fan. Too short, too simple and every extra playthrough was just a bore. Flynn and Freckles - Was a bonus game for Portugal and Spain on PS Plus. One of the worst platformers I've played. Ghastly 2Dark - Survival horror game, that?s a mix between Lone Survivor and The Escapists. Thought it would be better. The Vanishing of Ethan Carter - Interesting story. Was quite enjoyable, but could've been fleshed out a bit more. The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk - Decent point-and-click game. Felt a bit shorter than the first game of the series. Word Search - It's word search, don't know what else to tell you. Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart - Just replayed a few missions to level up a bit, still a decent game. The Evil Withing 2 - Love that game, but started encountering a few issues during my 2nd playthrough. Jack n' Jill DX - Neat little game. Sort of a endless runner Mario rip-off.
Popular Post Edunstar84
Game #9 - Final Review Playtime: 1 hour Trophies Earned: 1/35 Man, I suck at platforming! But before we get into that, I just want to say that Hollow Knight's aesthetic is really beautiful. The atmosphere, the lore, and the soundtrack really fools you into believing that it looks really easy. Trust me it's not. This game doesn't hold your hand, there's no tutorial, and there isn't a map, unless you find To me this game is sort of like a rogue-lite in that it doesn't really punish you for dying. For instance, you're able to save at benches (when you find them), and when you die you lose you're progress, at least you're able to get your diamond/circle things back when you defeat your ghost, which functions as a money system you can use to buy maps, compasses and such. Anywho, what I'm trying to say is that it could be worse. Thankfully, there are a few maps and guides out there, so you know where to go. I made sure to use a couple, even for the few areas I traversed. I could have given this game a bit more time, but had to get on with my next game Final Fantasy 15, as some of you know the server may or may not close, which might result in unattainable trophies. I would like to give this game another in the future, but it would demand all of my time and concentration.

Popular Post xFalionx
Game #6.5: Spy Chameleon (PSVita) Final Review Total playtime: about 3 hours and 30 minutes Trophies: 16/31 for an A rank Completion: Overall - 65.01% -> 63.63% | -1.38% Current - 63.93% -> 63.63% | -0.30% The good: Gameplay: The gameplay is pretty fun. In the later levels it actually gets pretty fast paced and requires quick thinking. In the later levels the game started seeming more and more like a puzzle game with levels requiring complex use of new gameplay elements. Length: With 75 short levels the game has got enough content and since you end up having to replay levels at least a second and likely a third time due to the challenges, it takes a little while to get through them all. Difficulty: Just beating the levels is pretty easy but the challenges force you to play levels in usually more difficult ways. Usually this doesn't get much more difficult but there were a couple levels that took me a while to finish. Overall the difficulty feels just right on hard difficulty. The bad: Visuals: The levels and interface look fine but something seems off about the design of the living creatures. It's hard to say but it feels like they lack character. Overall pretty underwhelming. The ugly: Audio: The OST of this game feels like it's a single song and it sounds like the one who was supposed to play it got bored halfway in and started doing weird improvisation to patch things up. This is the only game on my list where I didn't bother with headphones on the train and just ended up muting the game instead. I don't know what it is about this game but it just doesn't feel right. The gameplay is actually fairly decent and right up my alley but I still just kinda felt indifferent when playing the game. I guess, I just had too many great games on my list so this doesn't woo me at all. I'll probably finish the game since the plat doesn't seem too hard but I won't be looking forward to it. Since I've got another exam coming up tomorrow, I'll post my recap after I'm done with that. Rating: Next game: None, this was the last one.
Popular Post Metal Slime King
Game #8 - Scott Pilgrim vs. The World () - PS3 Probably not the best candidate for this event since I got the 100% in 3 days and there's probably not a lot of purpose in reviewing a game that has already been delisted. I started it up because I had a friend who was playing the online. Maybe some people have this lurking in their backlog and maybe others are just curious. Either way it handily brings me up to the magic number "8" for this event. Scott Pilgrim is retro beat 'em up game that looks like it's going for a 16 bit aesthetic. Kind of similar to games like Final Fight or Streets of Rage where you move left to right with that angled perspective that allows you to move up or down as well. I'd say it's more like the earlier 8 bit game River City Ransom because of the similar cartoony character designs with big heads and also the RPG like mechanics of levelling up your character to get become stronger and get more moves and collecting money to purchase items from shops that further build your character or replenish your hit points. The game is based on a series of comics I've never read which also spawned a movie I've never seen, so I was going in blind but the story wasn't too hard to follow. Scott falls for a girl but before they can get together he has to kill all her ex-boyfriends because .. video games, I guess. The game had some funny bits and there are a lot of references to other games. It was funny to me as a Canadian that the game was set in Toronto and when you beat dudes up they explode into coins that are easily identifiable as Canadian currency. The graphics are nice and the music and sounds are well done. It plays well enough for the genre and after you fully level up the moves available allow for nice, varied combat and you can also pick up and use or throw various weapons and items lying around. They did a good job making the environments interesting. The game isn't too hard after you've levelled up but when you're just starting enemies are quite the damage sponges and it can be annoying how easily you get stun-locked. All enemies can be easily handled though by getting close to them either a little higher or lower and hitting them when they move into your plane. Probably the worst thing in this game is not being able to skip the end credits which go on for like 10 minutes and you need to go through at least 5 playthroughs and you want to get the auto-save at the end of the credits so it's kind of a drag. At least the endings for each of the 7 available characters (4 Base, 1 Hidden, 2 DLC) are different and pretty funny. So all in all I would say it was a fun, funny game and would recommend it for a few bucks but sadly that's not really an option. I'm not sure why it got delisted but would assume it was a licensing issue, which is kind of sad. If I were in charge of the world I would make licensing a one and done kind of affair, like if the owners of an IP allowed a thing to be made then that thing would be allowed to exist in perpetuity regardless of whether the IP owner changes their mind or the IP itself changes ownership. So with that in mind don't forget to vote for me for world leader whenever that vote comes around if you don't want games or dlc to become delisted over licensing concerns. Popular Post MarkusT1992
Game #7: Octodad: Dadliest Catch (Final Day) Octodad is probably the weirdest game I have played so far. You play as Octodad (Is that his name? Doesn't matter I call him that), an octopus in disguise. The game starts with you getting ready for your wedding. With a human woman! Being an octopus and all that's not as easy as it sounds. An octopus has no spine. That means you are all wobbly. You can move one of your arms with the right/left stick and grab things with . To move your "legs" you have to press for the left leg and for the right leg. While pressing of the buttons you can move the corresponding leg with the left stick. At first it's kind of difficulte to navigate but after some time it becoms more intuitive. The only difficult parts at that point are ladders. It's not easy to climb but fortunately there are only a few climbing sections. The story is nothing special. You try to hide the fact you're an octopus while doing all kinds of daily life tasks. In the different levels of the game you have to do some garden work, go shopping or visit the aquarium. During some levels a chef appears who wants to prove you are an octopus. Octodad only uses blub sounds to talk but everybody understands what he is saying. I mean that's not normal for a human. Even though I completed the game it wasn't that great. The controlls at times got clunky and one of my legs got stuck or even the whole character. I understand that it's the point of the game to have weird controlls but it was to much sometimes. Trophies are pretty easy when you know what do do except for one which took several tries to pull off. I got some during my normal playthrough and used a guide for the cleanup. It's not the quality of the game, it's an easy platinum combined with a relatively small open world and every side thing you need right there on the map. On PSN the platinum rate is around 11%. Open world games in general have a higher than average completion rate if there's no trophy for the difficulty level. Given the relatively short time in which Spider-Man can be completed, I actually would have thought its completion rate would be higher than it is. Not that I'm calling Spider-Man a bad game (I thought it was flawed, but still pretty good), I'm just giving a bit more context. @Edunstar84 I bought Hollow Knight day one on Switch. Still need to play it some time... @xFalionx I also cared less than I thought I should for Spy Chameleon. Still haven't finished it. @MarkusT1992 I loved Octodad! I've got fond memories of it, and when it released on Switch last year I rebought it right away.
Popular Post SolarCat02
Murdered: Soul Suspect Finally had a chance to actually play! It's been a week. I didn't want to put it down, but it's after midnight, my brain is slowing down, and the kiddo is sick and I am solo parenting tomorrow (/today) so I need my rest. The basic gist... You play a criminal turned cop (the whole true love changed me but she died so I'll take stupid risks because we miss her trope) who gets thrown out a window then shot with the full clip of your own gun. Now you can't move on until you solve your own murder. The introduction is actually very well done, if a bit long. The game play mechanics are pretty intuitive to pick up and the game for the most part does well introducing each new skill and control. I did get a bit stuck on one point because I was too cautious to approach a particular item at one point so I wasn't close enough to trigger the new-mechanic control hint but that was on me. As you progress there are a few different activities. You have investigations where you do your police detective activities collecting clues via posessing people and other ghostly skills. The main investigations progress the storyline while the side ones seem to be linked to trophies. You avoid demons, which can kill you, but you can also kill them by sneaking up behind them, and if you die the save point seems to be recent. There are various ghostly objects to collect that reveal stories about Salem if you collect all in that category. You are also looking for general purpose information about your own ghostly abilities, your killer, and other topics. I am going to enjoy finishing this one too.
Popular Post dmland12
Game #10: Monster Slayers Trophies: 7/23 (16%) Completion: 89.78% (-0.63%, -4.98% from start) Monster Slayers is a card-based dungeon crawler. It also calls itself a rogue-like, and that's also true. You might think that rogue-like + cards would mean the randomness is going to go through the roof, but the developers have really worked at limiting it as much as they can. Generally, you will have multiple options when you find new gear or cards or level up and that tends to remove a lot of the randomness of the rogue-like elements. There's also duplicate cards or similar enough cards as well as lots of possibilities to draw multiple cards, which tends to reduce the randomness of the card-based part. In general, you'll get to see all of your cards played fairly quickly. There's still randomness to each run to be sure, but less than I would have thought. Each "run" consists of three levels where you'll need to move from room to room and either fight a monster or something else (upgrades, gear, merchants, healing, etc.). You generally have multiple choices and you can see what's in each room before you go there, so there's no surprises there. You'll know what monster you're facing and what lvl they are before you face them. In general, I'd say the game tries to be as fair and upfront as it can, while retaining some randomness and challenge. The gameplay looks rather complicated with lots of cards and status effects etc, so there's certainly a learning curve here. Overall, I found it to be an enjoyable game once I got my head around it. Initially, it was tough to figure out what I should upgrade or what cards I should add to my deck, since I had no idea what worked. Eventually, I started to figure it out. It probably didn't help that I spent most of my time figuring it out with the Cleric, which seems to be one of the tougher classes to play, at least compared to others I've played so far. If you're interested in seeing how the game plays, here's a video of the final boss fight (normal mode).
Popular Post Metal Slime King
Game #7 - Curses 'n Chaos () PS4 (also available for Vita) Curses 'n Chaos is a really simple but unique and fun game. It's a retro action game where each level takes place on one screen. You have to punch and kick your way through 10 waves of enemies that spawn from all sides and then you get a boss encounter. There's also an item mechanic, you can pick up items in levels to use but you can also bring them back to your camp between levels. You can purchase items you've seen before and mix items together to unlock new items which will then show up in your shop. The main point of the game besides reaching and clearing the last level is actually to build through the item tree and make the ultimate item that you're supposed to have in your possession when you beat the game. The graphics are simple 8 bit styled but they are done so well. The backgrounds are lush and detailed but not cluttered, I haven't had any issues focusing on the action. The music is really good, each level has it's own unique theme that really fits with and enhances the environment. Initially it seemed quite hard and I thought I might be chewing on it for awhile but I've been making fairly good progress and I keep finding myself coming back to it. The levels so far have all been entirely flat so there's no platforming, it's just all about dealing with the various enemies and not getting swarmed. The action is tight and intense. I was originally going to give this game a gold because there's not a lot of variety in game play but what it tries to do it nails so perfectly. I picked this game up on sale but even normally I think it was a "value priced" title, iirc. I'd say it's worth it but if it does come up on sale again (and the sales do seem to be cyclical) then I would highly recommend it.
Popular Post dizzyshadow
Game 10 : Asterix & Obelix XXL2 So from one of the most anticipated games of the year to possibly one of the least, have to admit is was really surprised to see this game, i'm a big fan of Asterix & Obelix, the books were some of my favourite stories when i was younger, and i still have them all now and enjoy reading them now and again, but i didn't think they were that popular, so the decision to remaster a 10+ year old game seemed slightly strange to me. So yes this a remake/remaster of the PS2 game, I have to say the setting of the game fits well in the asterix universe, taking a modern setting (Las Vegas) and transforming into something from Roman times, there is also lots of references to game characters, most of the roman enemies are based on other game characters (Mario, sonic, rayman etc.) so it fits well with the series. and the story itself could have genuinely been a book that was never published. My main complaint is the gameplay its a platform game with light puzzling elements, i believe when it was first released it was considered ahead of its time, however it hasn't aged well it shows its age now and the remaster doesn't really hide that fact. But my biggest problem is the endless fights with large number of romans, ok this fits with the series again, but in the game they real just feel like they are holding up your progress, the fights aren't that difficult, but it is time consuming and annoying when you have to kill 80+ enemies every time you enter a new area, the cynic in me says they are just padding the game to cover up its relatively short length, but really my main problem with them is they aren't that fun. All in all its a fairly mediocre game to be honest so one to avoid unless you are a big fan. In theory they are doing XXL3 as well for next year as well, it will be interesting to see if that actually makes it to release or not. Popular Post Kevvik
Game #10: htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary Day 3 Impressions (sort of) Time played: 2hrs 20 min Really no change in my opinion as yesterday was pretty much a write-off. Finished one more level plus getting the level trophy and exploring around to find the dream. I'm in a factory of sorts with a lot of conveyor belts, switches to control their direction at times and Pistons (which can crush you). Also a few timed gate mechanisms. No real story change so far and no change in my overall opinion. Trophies earned: 8/25, 22% for C rank Score so far: 6/10 Final Completion Rate: 80.39% (-1.50% for the event) I'll drop my month summary later today at some point.
