Let's Play Warriors

Recommended Posts

Cleared an empire mode on the chaos difficulty today and got promoted to strategist from being a free officer today. Then the game glitched and made me miss the tier 18 way of life for a large promotion from a free officer. I spent five years as a free officer, the game said I didn't, gave me the title for spending ten years in one scenario first, then free officer. This gave me tier 20 Immortal, voiding all chances of the way of life I wanted on this playthrough. I can still get the tier 33 way of life that needs the large promotion, hope the game doesn't deny this one.

I know how to avoid getting Immortal for my next playthrough, so it's not that bad.

Poor Femto. He even gets kicked around by Judeau and Shierke. Such a dumb way to end a pretty good game.

I have two more people to kick around Femto. Then, I should have my plat. I'm a little worried about Wyeld. Not because of Femto, but because of Ganishka. He really sucks against that guy, and he has to beat him twice (which is also stupid).

To do list:

Titles: Brave: Enemies Abound, Other: Lady Killer, Stunning Beauty, Handsome Man

Ways of Life: Tier 17 Honest and Handsome, Tier 18 Stormy Life, Tier 23 Close Advisor, Tier 25 Unmatched Intellect, Tier 29 Tall and Handsome, and Tier 33 Unparalleled Strategist.

In other words, get the Enemies Abound title, then it's one playthrough for the plat. Could be done today if the game finally gives me the Enemies Abound title. I'm currently playing Alliance against Dong Zhuo on the Chaos difficulty and hope for the best. Other kingdoms supposedly invade more frequently on higher difficulties. Some parties, the occasional Mass Levy, and raids on other kingdoms should make sure everyone wants my head. No luck so far, though, only got two invasions at the same time, need three.

edit: Just got Enemies Abound. Time to wrap this up, then.

Welp, I have my first plat thanks to this event. I doubt I would have gone back to Berserk had it not been for this, so thanks for that!

True Berserk

Acquired all trophies

I was excited to get the Femto outfit for Griffith, initially, but I'm so sick of this game now that I doubt I'll ever use it. It feels like kind of a booby prize - after all, you have to kick Femto's tail 8 different times before you unlock it, so by now, he doesn't seem like such a badass.

Onward to Warriors All Stars? Mebbe, but all this talk about DW8: Empires has me interested in that one. I also still need to plat DW7:XL, and both of those would also count toward the Game of the Month event that I have participated in for some time. So, we'll see.

@starcrunch061 Congratulation to the plat. Would you recommend the game? Did you like it?

And hope you enjoy DW8 Empires and that it doesn't troll you the way it trolled me. It took me four attempts to get Tier 18 Stormy Life. Getting the necessary promotions can sometimes just take too long to get this Way of Life. If you have any questions on your journey to the plat, feel free to ask.

Anyway... Stormy Life was the final WoL I needed, so...

Overall it was an alright Warriors game. It's a bit glitchy at times and you have to make sure your notes are perfect,

or else you'll waste a lot of time.

This will most likely be my last Warriors game in 2018, progress will be slow from now on.

Awesome! This Let's Play is under way!

As far as Berserk, if you like Warriors games (and I know you do), and you like Berserk, I think you'll overlook the flaws, but there are a bunch of them. Basically, many of the things that annoy you about Warriors annoy you even more here. The camera is atrocious on horseback, but horseback is incredibly useful for the final bit of grinding through the abyss. This title is a bit harder than other Warriors titles as well. While I don't think it merits the 7 out of 10 that the guide gave it, it's certainly more demanding, skill-wise, than your typical Warriors plat.

And Femto. God, Femto. You'll hate him when you meet him in the story, and you'll positively despise him when you meet him in the abyss.

So, I decided to go back to DW8: Empires, and all I can say is GOD WHY DID I START THIS GAME AGAIN?!?!

How did they screw this up so bad? These Ways of Life contribute so little to the game, but are such a pain to unlock. The titles add little.

Anyway, one thing I want to add to @viech54's list of stuff in Empires: get all of your years as a free officer BEFORE marrying or swearing brotherhood (or sisterhood?). Once you do that, you become a vagabond unit, and this does NOT count as being a free officer. I missed out on All-Encompassing on my first playthrough because of this, which is why I quit the game in the first place.

True. Should probably point out that the list of stuff is for people who played at least one empire mode. And the game calls it sworn siblings when you get the friendship of an officer of the same sex to A & ask them to swear the oath or accept it when they want you to do it.

Well, knocked out a couple of ways of life yesterday, and am down to 8 titles overall. I still have some early Ways of Life, too. There's still quite a ways to go, but we're getting there slowly but surely.

Also, a (possibly dumb) question. Say that I have the requirements for two separate Ways of Life in the same tier (e.g. Little Conqueror and Hero of Chaos, with only Iron Fist requirement left). How does the game decide which one to give me?

The short answer is I don't know, be careful it doesn't happen to you is the only advise I can give you. Well, that and that it never happened to me on all my playthroughs, so don't worry about it too much.

It can theoretically happen for these tiers (didn't add tiers with multiple Ways of Life that have no chance of it happening at all such as tier 28 and tier 29): Tier 18, tier 25, tier 33.

I don't think this can happen on tier 34, but don't know for sure.

Also, decided to buy Warriors Orochi 4. I'm currently downloading the game, so might change my plans and get another Warriors game done this year.

The character list for that game is out of control. They should have a trophy simply for reading all the names on it.

Too bad the game doesn't have a trophy like that. The rarity of the plat suggests it's a fairly easy one compared to previous WO games, though. I'd have liked another ultra rare plat in WO4.

So, back to DW8:E. these might be obvious points, but nothing has been obvious to me in this one.

I know it seems like cheating, but I highly recommend that when you get serious about the Ways of Life, spend some bonus points. I would recommend getting Weapons unlock (after unlocking the appropriate 6-star weapons for your character), item unlock (again, after unlocking the best items), and especially strategy unlock. This will run you 10000 bonus points or so, which shouldn't be a huge hit or anything. I would also spend some points on starting at level 50. This will make battle easier.

Play the game on normal difficulty or above. This will help to get multiple kingdoms to attack you. Further, play on a scenario that has a lot of kingdoms. Dong Zhuo's scenario is especially useful, because you can get a lot of otherwise annoying titles quickly by joining him and rebelling, or squeezing the people, etc. Make a base save at the beginning of the game, and don't delete it.. This allows you to play multiple times without losing all of those bonus points

Stormy Life: This is definitely one of the most annoying Ways of Life, but I have a pretty good strategy to guarantee it (assuming the game doesn't glitch on titles, which it does all too often). Keep saves in place especially when a title needs to unlock, or when a title might break your opportunity.

Anyway, what we want is for multiple rulers to make us into a marshall. However, we need those rulers to have few troops and little money, because otherwise we'll get stuck into Life of Ups and Downs. What I did was hung around Liu Yan, Yan Baihu - you know, the losers in the game. Run through the rescue missions. Rescue the City is almost always given by a ruler, and completing it pretty much guarantees that this ruler will hire you directly as a marshal. Once you get hired (and get the subsequent title, which often fails to register), rebel and lose. Rinse and repeat with another weakling ruler, but this time, rebel and win. Step down, and wait out the remaining years, remembering that you do not want to earn too much money. I would recommend Resting, but viech said that this glitched him into the Immortal way of life. I didn't have this issue, but be aware of it.

Other than that, with access to all strategies from the getgo, life is much easier here. Note that it is easier to lose virtue than to gain it (Pillage takes off a whopping 1000 virtue points with one use!). Also, note that if you have low virtue, you can force through a lot of diplomatic treaties using Intimidate.

All right - I'm looking for some help.

Solitary Stead requires getting 5 people to leave your kingdom. What the heck?!? I can't even get 1 to leave. I don't know what to do. I'm a jerk, but have a lot of high virtue people. I take bribes. Hell, I even ran out all of the money in my kingdom, so no one gets paid. Yet affection levels go UP over time.

Is there any reliable way to get people to leave? I can't knock out the corresponding way of life, which is too bad, because if I do, I'm mostly finished with this nonsense (need another runthrough for the ways of life that require battles, but that should be relatively easy to control).

Start the Alliance against Dong Zhuo, join his kingdom, wait for people to leave, then become ruler yourself. Done. An alternative way of doing this is recruiting people with high or low virtue and acting like a good guy or a jerk. This should get the ones to leave that don't like what you do. I. e. the bad guys don't like you being a good guy and vice versa, that should get it done too. Being a bad guy makes it easier. Don't know why it doesn't work for you. Maybe do some battles and execute people? You'll be everyone's best enemy in no time. You can also recruit people and then do nothing at all. Literally. Don't even specifiy a policy for your kingdom. Just rest all the time. That makes them leave your kingdom frequently.

Finally finished up Dynasty Warriors 9. For anyone looking for a simple game with a relatively easy plat to get in the series to start off this would be the 2nd game I recommend after Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires. My time in the game is misleading and it can definitely be done in around 75 hours I think. Would recommend unlocking Red Hare as soon as possible because...you'll need to do A LOT of traveling, and it's easier getting the locations trophy if you're moving at the speed of light. (another reason for this being recommend is because the more locations you have unlocked the easier it will be to play the rest of the game due to fast traveling everywhere)

My thoughts on the game lean towards being negative, but it's definitely due to preference. (If I had to rate the game it would be 5/10) I appreciate that they tried the open world concept but it just didn't work out well I think. You NEED to put the game on Action Mode and NOT Movie Mode because on Movie the game is horribly glitchy and choppy. Action Mode makes it slightly smoother but there are graphical hiccups here and there.

I didn't exactly like the change in combat where the combo list was taken away for an ability wheel.

Trophy descriptions are stupidly misleading. Who the fuck translated them?

Voice acting was terrible compared to previous games. I felt like most of the characters were teenagers.

The map...jfc the map...it's got to be the biggest open world map I've traversed. I didn't even uncover the entire damn thing.

I really felt like the open world experience could cause a player to miss the story.

I did enjoy the grappling hook though. It makes the game far less annoying with having not to wait for siege weapons/towers to get through doors.

Despite liking the combat of the previous games (except the 6 series) it played ok.

@Avatar_Of_Battle

Congratulations on clearing DW9. Can all characters still use almost all weapon types or not?

Made a lot of progress in Warriors Orochi 4 today, earning the first 26 trophies (or 44%)  doesn't even take one day. I quite like what they did with the game, the battle system is enjoyable, there are some differences to standard Warriors, which is good. Kyubi is still among the easiest ways of breaking the game, enemies can't do anything, even their deified forms can't hold a candle against a non-optimized Kyubi (i. e. not level 99 and without a perfect weapon). The story could use some improvements, everyone lost their memory, yet they act like they're allies right from the start. Well, some of them. At least the alliance from previous Orochi games returns as if nothing happened. Considering everyone's background, it makes no sense for them to change from enemies to allies on the fly.

Is anyone interested in WO4 coop? I'll solo the story, but we can help each other out on Chaos difficulty.

From what I saw they could. I only used their "favorite" weapon after grinding out the currency needed to buy their Legendary EX weapons. (There's 4 types of currency)

While I was at hospital I played Hyrule Warriors Switch Version, at the start I just played adventure mode and tried out Linkle(Female Link more or less) She was fun to play as(I mostly play as a Sword Wielder) cleared the Main Story of HW DE(Did the Wii U version years ago) and have only Linkle and Cia's tales left to clear.

Also updated the OP with more details and Participants's cleared games.

Making more progress towards that elusive Empires plat. I have finished all Ways of Life except for the female ones. Similarly, I have only 4 titles left. The three girls, and...

...

...Prize Pick. Any advice on this? I've got two rulers with high affections, and am currently doing escort quests when they appear. I've allied with both of them, raided them, defended against both of them. They have no marshal currently. If I quit out of my current kingdom, they immediately offer me the marshal position from free officer. But they do not seem to want to pluck me from my current ruler. Am I doing this right? Is it just RNG?

Also, I got the "Use all fixed strategies" trophy. That thing was more annoying than I thought. I looked over the list, and still managed to miss BOTH of the strategies assigned to lieutenant/common officers. But oh well.

I'm close to beating all of the famous officers with a single custom character. I'm further from recruiting them all. I've got a lot of kills with strategems to get. And of course, the Chaos playthrough. But there's light at the end of the tunner.

Strangely, I still haven't been promoted to Marshal. You just need to finish battle objectives, right? I've been raiding people right and left, but no luck there.

Oh, and before I forget, a bit shoutout to @viech54 for this advice on Solitary Stead. It was funny just doing nothing for months, and watching people leave the kingdom.

For Prize Pick, keep in mind that a promotion to prefect is enough, no need to get marshal or strategist. I think you can also befriend another kingdom's marshal/strategist, they can offer you a promotion to prefect of their kingdom (happened to me iirc). One thing that helps is getting their attention during battle. If the comment on your deeds, chances are high they'll offer you something after the battle. Not sure about escort quests or any other quest, don't think it's necessary. Other than that, it is RNG & I can't really offer any advice. This was a title that I got without actually aiming on it.

Kinda. Got promoted to marshal when forming alliances, building facilities, inviting officers, and fighting. Also got the promotion to strategist while doing all of this. It is somewhat random. Fighting seems to increase the odds of you being promoted to marshal.

Glad it helped.

That's really interesting. All the guides I read said to befriend the ruler via escort quests (or the like), although they focused on strategist/marshall.

It might be time to write up a lot of this stuff in our own guide. I've figured out lots of nice ways of getting annoying stuff, and your ideas really complement them.
