I ask because I noticed with @Omar that his change created a brand new entry on the leaderboard which didn't link back to an existing forum profile and lost the premium membership.  The other examples I have seen have just been people updating their signatures with a link to their new ID/new trophy card.

You just lost your trophy progres, save games, DLC you paid for and a lot of your games don't work anymore, but at least your username is different in a couple of places now.   Wow, just wow

I can see your profile when searching for Kuro_Ankokuboshi but when I hover over your @PlanetSurvival name and click PSN Profile I get:

Presumably it takes a couple of hours before PSN Profiles changes all your PlanetSurvival entries to Kuro_Ankokuboshi ones?

Currently the site treats the new name as a new account but I'm giving it a couple of hours/ a day to see what happens. I changed my name about 2 hours ago and nothing on the site has switched over yet.

On the PSN side everything works. All saves, digital games (PS3, Vita and PS4), PS+ saves and games, and PSnow are fine

Have you tried to play DLCs from PS3 and Vita games? Have you tried to connect to servers from old games that are still up?

@Anke I noticed that too. I guess trophy data can only be stored on one profile at a time. If I were to change my name a second time, the Kuro one would probably be blank as well.

Speaking for myself, the oldest game I have that has active online support and DLC is Burnout Paradise (the original on PS3, not the PS4 remaster). I have all the DLC and was able to load up Big Surf Island (a DLC map) and access all DLC cars without issue, and that game was released in early 2008. If that still works, hopefully everything is fine.

Sounds promising. I first thought of connecting to Burnout Paradise PS3 servers and play the DLCs to see if all works, along with other PS3 games in my possession.

 

The more the positive I hear, the more I think that Sony has done a great job of rebuilding the PSN infrastructure. All those warnings were obviously a way to “protect their ass” if it turns out to have horrified problems.

Download list on ps3 and Vita seems to work fine, all DLC and games are there and downloadable. Played SSX and Fuse on ps3 and Soul Sacrifice Delta on vita. All saves worked and was able to get online with the new name.  
PSN web store works as well.

I think Sony is just prewarning people what can go wrong. When you are moving that much data. Shits can happen. At least they are telling you outfront all the shits that can happen. Other companies may just do it and deal with the consequence later. Telling people too much is really like a double-edged sword.

Oh, thanks! Yeah, I have no intention of changing it. I mean, maybe if they allowed spaces and apostrophes... Then I could be Cassassin's Reed.

 

But I hope everybody who wants to change their name gets the name they want, and there are no major issues with it. So far, it sounds like it's just been a precautionary warning.

Hello everybody! I finally have some time to post here after being at work all day ^_^ 

 

I have been saying for a long time that the second a name change was set in motion I would take the plunge right on so when I got the beta invitation I did just that. Since that happened everything I have been able to test on the PSN/PS ecosystem side of things is running as if nothing had happened to begin with. A couple of games took a little to change the ID in-game but it was a matter of a bunch of hours, and the PS App gave me an error right after changing my ID but it has now perfectly adjusted. 

 

From what I have gathered so far, I have not lost access to any content and I have not lost any saved data but I do not know if using every single one will be allowed and honestly I don't care either as I am a completionist and 9 out of 10 of my games I'm completely done with, so revisiting is very unlikely. 

 

When it comes to PSNP, some users brought to my attention while I was at work that my new ID has been treated as a new leaderboard entry, with the site sort of transferring over all of my "omar280792" data to "BousfHearts." It has been 7 hours since I changed IDs and it remains the same but I will pay attention to how things evolve during the first couple of days to see if there is some kind of adjusting. If not, I am willing to provide whatever feedback necessary or to test something people might be interested in finding out.

EDIT: I'd like to add that every game out from April 2018 onwards is fully compatible with this feature. Soul Calibur VI changed my name in-game ON THE FLY. So far so great on my end!
