What's the minimum amount to start a multiplayer game ?

I read that 2v2 is or was a thing. Is that still the case ? Or is 3v3 the absolute minimum to boost ?

3v3 is the minimum because everything has to be done in matchmaking lobbies, none of your stats in private matches will go up. On Uncharted 3, Hunter Arena is a 2v2 mode, which can be done by 2 people using 2 controllers each, but that doesn't award medals and is mainly used by people who want to get the majority of the treasures for the game.
