Popular Post Alex_R-13
I figured that it would be helpful to make a small summary thread about the Guarma animals as the first post now has well over 200 replies and for someone who hasn't been part of the hunt might be confused. Note: Currently it's unclear if the animals are even required for the "Skin Deep" and "Zoologist" trophy. As long as we don't know for sure if they are needed, it's best to make a manual save in Chapter 5 before doing the two quests (you won't be able to hunt after starting the main mission with Dutch atleast). UPDATE: The chapter 5 animals are not needed for the trophies! Here is the list of all animals exclusive to Guarma: Parrots: 1. Blue & Yellow Macaw 2. Scarlet Macaw 3. Great Green Macaw Snakes 1. Sunglow Boa 2. Rainbow Boa 3. Red-tailed Boa 4. Fer-De-Lance Snake Booby 1. Red Footed Booby. Note: On the island you will also find animals like the Green Iguana, Cuban Land Crab and a few pigs, but all are confirmed to also appear on the mainland. - All four snakes spawn around these areas NW of your camp: https://imgur.com/a/d9q8x4P (me and several other people only found the Fer-De-Lance Snake at this spot) https://imgur.com/a/Xk9gvtL for the other three snakes (look out for the trunks on the ground) To farm the snakes use this strategy: Visit the 2 spots above and look out for snakes. If you don't find them around there, use L3+R3 for the hunting mode and/or spam L2 to maybe lock on a snake because of aim assist. If you had no luck in both cases, either reload from your manual save or run to the beach and get shot (alternative 1 is faster tho). If you are reloading from saves, make sure to overwrite it after finding one of these animals to not accidentally lose progress. - For the Macaws, go to the waterfall and look at the cliffs or at the stones in the river. All three types are sitting around there. Use your binoculars to study them from further away. If you scared them away, leave the area and come back to spawn them again. - For the Booby, follow the river down to the beach. You will find a shack. Climb on it from the back to not get caught and use your binoculars again to study the Boobys in the sky. A video guide for these can be found here: Thanks to @EphemeralEcho @klair88 @Erkawest @Igni and many others that were part of figuring that all out. acbluke
Great post! I actually got my fer-de-lance by being bitten by it in the place where you killed it! (I was spawning snakes, but I didn't know about your secondary location.) Fortunately, I was then able to study, kill, and skin it. By the way, I also have seen snakes spawn in the cane field right behind the shack to which you go in your video to get shot (a rainbow boa bit me there as I was running through). Quick question: How do we know these are the only Guarma-exclusive animals? Edited October 31, 2018 by acbluke

Quick question: How do we know these are the only Guarma-exclusive animals? Because it's either marked in the compendium (in the description) or it simply hasn't been found on the mainland, althought it's obvious that e.g the Macaws are only on the island. Krove-34
Do we need to track them ? I study and kill , sometimes i forget to track. Do we need to study - track - kill - collect ? Ou we can just study - kill - collect ?

Krove-34
I just need to track a rainbow boa , but i started the mission , so i hope that tracking is not obligatory. I have a save in case. But for the trophy , it's say " study " and "skins " , not "track". Thanks for the video. The rainbow boa was the most difficult to have. Most of the time it was a fer de lance. Shadow_Kisuragi
Just chiming in to say that, according to someone working for Rockstar, the Guarma animals are supposedly not required for the achievements/trophies. Don't have a reference as I don't want to out this person, and I don't have personal confirmation, but wanted to pass on the info since I know it's a big deal to a lot of people worried about missing the achievements/trophies in their playthrough. OwZy_CB1
Okay after 4 hours of hunting this motherfucker(fer de lance), i have some tips, basically ALWAYS kill a log boa if you see it, then go get yourself killed ASAP, it seems that the boas actually spawn on a kind of timer not a world refresh i dont really know, but every time i killed a boa died and ran back to logs there was no boa, once you have a no boa spawn log then run towards the spot shown in the imgur and just stay around that area do not move from it, you almost seem to force a snake to spawn in that spot which seems to more commonly be a fer de lance rather than a boa, if you see a boa at all though kill it and die and retry. the wording might be very good bc i kinda rushed it but those are some of my best tips for catching that fucker

KingTom95
Thanks for the summary and all the people who were helping. I found the fer de lance straight away, it was the first spawn at the logs. Rainbow boa took me around 30 minutes cause either no snakes or only sunglow boas spawned, restarting the game fixed that for me. Overall it took me less than an hour
NaseemJohn
I don't think these animals are needed for the trophy. I know the location of all animals in the game so I'll be working on it and I'll let you guys know if it's needed or not. I should be done in 2-3 days. DanielMcGiveron
I killed the red-tailed boa but I'm only 75% complete in my compendium!?!? EDIT: Never mind, killed a second one and now its saying 100%. Just the Rainbow boa and Fer-de-Lance to go... I think PowerPyx might be wrong on this, I have only 100% completed 6 animals, yet the social club trophy tracker said 18% which sounds more like the amount I have actually studied. Erkawest
Hey guys, Some have written to me on PSN and I also see many asking about the Cuban Land Crab. It can be found on both Guarma and on the mainland. Here's the location for mainland, I went there myself before Guarma and found them. Just head next to the dead guy lying on the beach and 2 crabs should spawn under him. Be quick as they run away when you approach the corpse. It seems that the man came from Guarma, as when you loot his stuff, you can find some Guarma Rum (maybe that's how the crabs came to mainland, pretty cool).
