Rockstar controversy started already?

Dan Houser (one of the founders of Rockstar) is on record on saying GTA 6 would be extremely difficult to make at his point due to current outrage culture and social media; not encouraging news. With that said, I think a Bully 2 would be even less likely to be made.

The good thing about RDR and other time setting games, is that if they push the boundaries they can make a historical argument. Maybe another LA Noire is possible?

Well, to be fair, in Red Dead Redemption II you can punch a suffragette in the face, but you can also kill KKK members (without that even lowering your honour system). So... Having your cake and eating it too, or something.

It's like when people were outraged that Quentin Tarantino turned slavery into a spaghetti western. Can't we all just agree that a work of art can offend and still be good? Or is this going to be about the fragile minds of the current youngsters?

Also, I think people on social media, and article writers, were fishing for a trigger effect. I've seen about a dozen articles on my news feed about "Red Dead Redemption II allows you to punch a feminist in the face. Still a shame that there are those that completely fall for it.

Edit: I guess GTA IV and Hot Coffee would be a better comparison here. Or GTA V and... Something. Was there a GTA V controversy besides the basic violence? Did Scientology get angry about Kifflom, perhaps?

I'd just like to point out that Red Dead Redemption, the first game has a similar video but it's not of a feminist, it's just a woman in the game. It has over 3 million views and nobody seems to have battered an eyelid over that video, IN EIGHT YEARS! I can't help but feeling that outrage is seasonal, or when new games are released, and not old ones.

I wouldnt be surprised if they put in punshable feminists just to spite Anita Sarkeesian lmao

The only thing offensive about that "work of art" was how shitty it was.

Anyway, this thread is a bunch of clickbait nonsense. What? Someone on the internet said something? STOP THE PRESSES!!!

I'm increasingly convinced that by now, 80% of everything that is on the internet is just clickbait. I thought the internet was for porn but I'm pretty sure by now that it's actually for clickbait.

Of course it's my opinion! What did you think it was? ?

80% is conservative. Even porn has become click-bait-y. They never live up to the titles on pornhub!

The meaning of clickbait seems a bit lost these days. Click bait is to get someone to click on something and in most cases to fool the user into clicking them. Hence why you often get big boobs or something on a thumbnail. What Sargon talks about, is the truth.

Also, Sargon Of Akkad shows actual people getting offended by it and just reads out the report and people's responses, his response is more of dismay and just laughing about, I'm not sure how you'd say it was bad comedy as it doesn't seem like a comedy skit to me.

At any rate, open world games, you can do what you like, it's just selective cherry picking to make "news". Fake news and propaganda really, it's getting old and I wish these idiots would just stop. PC culture, I'm just so tired of it. Everything is offensive these days, in which nothing is offensive in my opinion.

See? You fell into the trap. There are, what, 300,000,000+ people in America? You look at the examples of a few (mostly anonymous and possibly hyperbolic) loudmouths, and then follow up with a comment about "PC culture".

That's not my culture. That's not yours, either. Why insist that it's somehow a majority?

To spare time in forum discussions, I've decided to just quote Lebowski if someone comes with a pretty harsh opinion (you saying trash, a few hours ago it was someone calling a game I like 'garbage'), when I feel like I completely disagree with it but also feel like I won't persuade the other anyway just like they won't persuade me. Take it as me saying "if that's your opinion then I don't agree but fine, whatever".

As I wrote my last post, I thought of calling porn clickbait too, but I figured I'd leave the joke implied. Good to know you were thinking of the same joke.

If reporting what's happening is considered clickbait now, well. I have nothing further to say. Shall we scream FAKE NEWS at everyone? ;)

My clickbait comment wasn't aimed at the video from the OP, which I didn't watch, but at all the sites headlining "PUNCH A FEMINIST IN RDR2". I think we can both agree that non-gaming sites headlining this stuff is pretty much clickbait, just like the Mass Effect "sex" scenes riots and other such nonsense. Oooh. And those asshole sites who spam "PS+ about to be revealed" articles starting a week before we all know it will actually be revealed.

What he said. That was the point of (part of) my first post here. There's clickbait articles redirecting the idiots towards these videos, and they fall for it hook, line and sinker. Because this sort of thinking doesn't leave room for "it's just a game and not meant to be taken at face value", just as people on the other end don't have room for "not every minority casting is a case of pandering".

Read practically any news article on the Internet and you'll be hard pressed to find an outlet that wouldn't subscribe to this line of thinking.

Sjws are fucking annoying when it comes to video games. They dont even play games. They just want to bitch and moan because thats the only way they can get attention.

no one cares what they think. Its a video game, people play them to have fun. Leave political correctness out of it and go bitch about something else.

Well, I'm outraged.....alligators deserve better food than that :giggle:

I actually saw the original video of this from the YouTube user Shirrako before all this "controversy" started and thought it was funny.  He has a lot of other videos from in the game too, one of him beating up a racist preacher, one showing the KKK scenes etc.

Wrong. The anti-SJW types aren't getting "angry" or "triggered" over this so-called controversy, most of us find it bloody hilarious.  There's a big difference between mocking the other side and getting "triggered" by them.

Excuse me good sir, your sound logic has no place in this forum and I must ask you to refrain from making too much sense.
