Can't power up the fusion core generator?

So I'm getting deep into the game and need more fusion cores to power my suit, my partners suit, our bases and so on. I took over the base at the nuclear plant in the marsh and fixed it up, I took over the workshop and got the mission for powering up the fusion core generator but no matter what I do it won't let my attach the wire from the plant fuse box to the fusion core generator. I also tried connecting it too the fuse box next to the generator but still no luck. It says the fuse box is on and producing 400 energy but won't attach to anything. I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I'm missing something and until I find the nuclear generator blue prints I can't do anything without the power plant.

Honestly best bet is to just unlock the fusion generator by doing the power up missions as it is 100 power and can power the fusion core generator itself. You might also need to do said power up mission for the plant you are at for the box to work but I am unsure about that.
