Skin Deep / Zoologist and Tracking

7 posts in this topic

If I have killed, skinned and studied an animal but not studied it in the tracker so it is not at 100% does this matter or not? Do I need to track them also?

I'm onto Chapter 4 currently and these are the animals I have left I got a lot of them while working towards other goals and doing the satchel upgrades and camp upgrades for Pearson.

When you view an animal's entry in the compendium, skinned and studied are the only two things that matter. Collecting, killing, tracking or plucking don't count towards any trophy.

Legendary animals and the few that are exclusive to the Chapter 5 island also aren't needed. But none of those are in your list anyway.

A lot of animals can only be found after Chapter 6.

If you want 100% in the compendium you can get everything other than the above edit to your list as early as chapter 2...if you just want the animals for the related trophies, as mentioned above, you only need to study and skin them...rufus, the Carolina parakeet, and the guarma animals are not needed at all for either trophy...the above list of animals (the only one I'm not 100% on is the rattlesnake) will only be available during the epilogue or after you've completed the story...the rest can be gotten at anytime...

If an animal is at 100% in compendium just being studied i.e. dogs, do they also have to be skinned?

No if there isn’t a section in the compendium for skinning then you don’t need to worry about it. This applies to most domestic animals.

Thanks, I thought that but I have a higher percentage of studied animals than I do skinned so I wasn’t sure...

Yeah that makes sense anyways. Something similar to domestic animals happens with birds. You have to study most birds, but many of those cannot be skinned, only plucked. You don't need to pluck them for the trophy.
