IT'S ON THIS GAME TOO!!! Otametal.... NOOOOO!

Hi all,

So the only game so far in the Yakuza series which Karaoke that I enjoyed was on Zero. With Kiwami the songs were crap but it was Otametal which sent me insane. Got it done and was so happy.

BUT ITS ON KIWAMI 2 AS WELL!!!!!!

The karaoke mechanics on Kiwami 2 for all songs though are horrible as hell. Not enjoyed any songs so far but now I got this Otametal to do for Haruka's requests. Any tips for it gents? Also on Kiwami 2 the rapid press sections seem much more broken than the previous two games. In those you could press fast and then let go before you hit the end and you got great rated but I can do no better than good in this game.

Also. I have 2 out of 3 songs on the completion list completed and hopefully Otametal will make the third. Do all songs have to be beaten on Kiwami 2 like in previous games?

If you managed to complete Otometal in Kiwami 1 i highly doubt you’ll have much trouble with anything in Kiwami 2. Karaoke is a lot less janky (for lack of a better word) than it was in previous entries.

Not for me mate. On Kiwami I always got 80+ before eventually getting the required 950. On Kiwami 2 I can get no more than 65. This time though its nothing to do with rhythm as nothing has a beat or rhythm time to it, just fast paced presses to match the icon. Basically play it without sound and you will get no rhythm as you hear your button presses. It was never much good in previous games but its awful in Kiwami 2.

Do you know if you have to get 90+ on all songs or just 3?

You going have to get 90+ on all songs, 3 is just the first CP that is available

Cheers mate. Not what I was hoping for lol but cheers for the info.

Nah I really don't like the karaoke mechs in Kiwami 2 and I assume its the same for Yakuza 6 which I probably won't get to play for about 10 years anyway lol.

In Zero and Kiwami I liked how the notes were set out in a sort of music page and its was just down to you to hit the right buttons and solve the correct timing pattern. This newer system though seems broken to hell though for me. Not once have I been able to get the rapid sections above good, the place when you have to press the icon seems all out of whack too.

Indeed. This part is going to be a real pain in, up and all around the arse for me.

Well that was weird...

Was looking around the net and everyone says that you must get 90+ on Haruka's song to pass that request. As per usual I got 65% as most notes only get good rating. Anyway Because you have to 90% all songs I decided to do the song that Kiryu sings.

I got all greats except for 3 good ratings and got scored at 90% (again proving that the mechs and percentages are broken as hell in the game). Anyway I wanted to save and quit out for a bit and then the next screen shows Haruka very happy and says you should record an album lol. So it seems during the Haruka requests you don't have to 90% Otametal to continue with her request and can go about doing that at a later date once the request sections are finished with.

So the only other pain s**t I have to do with her is the Virtual On. Man SEGA have released some s**t through the years eh? Golf, though I will eventually do that and its a fun mini game. The rest are more about grinding like I had to do with the poker request.

By the way. What the hell are you supposed to do on that Toylets game?

Yea the request doesn't require doing haruka's song it just getting it on one of the song that is sung. The virtual on was really bad I had to just get my brother's help to do it. At least you got poker done.

Yeah poker was easy and a lot of fun as I like the cards games anyway, well the US and UK style of casino card games, not the Japanese stuff.

Yeah I can honestly say that in 30 years of video game experience, Virtual On is without a doubt the worst video game I have ever played bar none. And I'm really not liking having to go back and play it again. Wish they had chosen Virtua Fighter for her request.

Having problems with the golf game though still. Cannot get past the 2nd row without missing two shots and missing two means game over. Number 4 and 6 always give me trouble on that row. Never made it past number 7 though for my best. Its good mini-game, but again the mechs are all wonky and most times seems like your ball is magnetic and aims towards the bars between the numbers. I can hit those like a champ mother f**ker.

But this is my last Yakuza game. Not playing 6 as it makes no sense whatsoever to jump from 2 to 6 and we still have no concrete info on if 3, 4 and 5 will be released for US and UK. But if I had to rate my Yakuza experience from games thus far it would have to be like so...

Yakuza Zero

Visuals = 6/10. Some nice work for the three boss cutscenes but eveything else is very dated.

Story = 8/10. The Japanese are pretty f**king awful when trying to appeal to a worldwide audience as their idea of story telling is more like overacting theater work. But Zero had so much going for it.It has its awful written moments but in terms of majority it was very awesome.

Mechanics and controls = 6/10. Clunky but forgivable and whilst it suffered horrific RNG, the actual minigames are made very well indeed.

Gameplay and features = 10/10. Cannot fault it. Never before have I seen an action game or RPG structure a game so well like the devs did for Yakuza Zero. Tonnes to do, tonnes of fighting moves, amaze-balls.

Rating = 8/10. One amazing gaming experience.

Yakuza Kiwami

Visuals = 5/10. So lifeless and watered down when compared to Zero.

Story = 3/10. Horrible, just horrible. With Zero you see experience from the whole Yakuza team has grown so much, but Kiwami's story and writing is shockingly laughable and mostly just bad.

Mechanics = 6/10. Pretty much the same as with Zero really.

Gameplay and features = 5/10. A lot like Zero's content... only less.

Rating = 5/10. As a new gamer to Yakuza and being given Zero as a starter game, this was just dull.

Yakuza Kiwami 2

Visuals = 7/10. Its got the Yakuza 6 engine and graphics but even these are dated badly. A lot of effort went into water reflections but not much else.

Story = 8/10. F**KING WOOO..... YEAH!! Back on track after the s**tness that was Kiwami 1's story. Kiwami 2 has an amazing story but still has faults in terms of what we consider to be well acted and written in the west. Still a f**king amazing attempt though. This must have been the dogs balls back on the PS2 era eh?

Mechanics = 6/10. Not bad, they finally sorted out turning like a robot to fight different opponents, but somethings are still way off.

Gameplay and features = 6/10. A lot similar to Zero, a lot better than Kiwami, but some stuff is shite and I wasn't a fan of the new combat system. Liked the way it controlled but next to no where near as much fun as having 5 fighting styles like in the previous games.

Rating = 7/10 The story alone deserves a 8 if not for some minor faults in writing and language barrier/bad acting barriers, but none the less this was a f**king epic experience.

Overall Appreciation of the reboot.

Now whilst I've been impressed by what I played so far, I've also been very unimpressed. The same cities used in the first three games, the same f**king clothes for characters which so far has spanned a timeline of 20+ years. Pretty shite character models for the most part. The same lazy f**king trophies and requirements throughout the series so far. Seriously, at times I started to called this Yakuza Fifa 1 and Yakuza Fifa 2. And a timeline which for the most part is broken in itself.

But then Yakuza excels where it truly matters.... the gameplay. I have a very equal love and hate for the series on many levels, but what keeps me coming back is the excellent gameplay and the yearning to follow this story.

So all in all and even though Kiwami 1 bored and annoyed the s**t out of me at times, My first 3 Yakuza games have been a great experience. Not the best.... but very f**king good none the less.

Now if you'll please excuse me, I will most likely be using the remainder of this thread for rage and vent posts towards the remaining Haruka challenges.

Well...

Its been, what? About 9 years since I last posted *s♥s* and I still cannot do the Karaoke on Kiwami 2.

Got the first 3 songs donee but from Butterfly it just all goes wrong for the final 5 songs. Its so much more difficult than the previous games and cannot understand how people prefer this system. I prefered it on the previous Yakuza games as the notes were laid out on a music sheet if you will, but on this the notes come rushing at you. I also have major problems with how joypads are set out for these type of rhythm games. Fine for every other genre, but this is like trying to use a piano with only 4 close keys which then have no correct beat layout or pattern. Bleagh!

Only got the last 5 songs and the 3 pee-ing games to do. Its the first day of my time of work. Please let me get this done within the next two days.

Gotta agree with some people that the karaoke on Kiwami 2 is easier that on Kiwami. Just done the requirements today and was able to get 90+ on all songs first try. I'm not particularly good at rhythm games, it's just quite easy lol. For reference I took 5-10 tries on Otometal on Kiwami 1 to get the 90+ on there.

This was an absolute nightmare on Kiwami 1. I'm no slouch at video games, and this still took me hours to finally beat. Hopefully this won't be nearly as bad in Kiwami 2.

No mate. Every other game that features the songs is so much easier. I think the lag in the game made the songs so much harder than they needed to be. Put it this way, after that game the singing mini games became one of my favourite mini-games in the franchise.

I literally couldn't understand half of what you just said. Every other song but Otametal is doable for most players. Otametal was one of the hardest things I had to do in Kiwami 1. The highway shootout on Legend difficulty wasn't as bad as this.

One of my favourite songs in the series, didn't really cause any trouble at all for me.

Replaying them all at the moment so looking forward to playing it on both Kiwamis again

This became one of my favourite karaoke tracks purely due to being forced to replay it so many times. I learned to accept and love it! Lol

My other favourites are Friday Night and Judgement (from Zero), Like a Butterfly (from 6), Arpeggio (from Judgment), and (no surprise) Baka Mitai.

My top two songs in the entire series though, are Twin Dragons (the “Rising Mix” specifically) from Zero; and The Last Assassin XIV: Symphony of The Judgment (also from Judgment). ?

I will say though, that while beating Otametal took a huge amount of tries, it was NOWHERE as difficult for me as completing every Disco song on hardest difficulty and all the side quests related to it in Zero.

Judgment Shinpan and 24 Hour Cinderella are possibly my favourites alongside Otometal.....Always liked how much Majima was into Rouge of Love in Zero

Tonight from Kiwami and Today is a diamond are also standouts, the latter because the impossibly chirpy video and fun theme doesn't match the lyrics at all. Baka Mitai is great especially because of the different characters who can pop up. I always found it particularly funny that Kiryu is singing Baka Mitai whilst thinking of Pocket Circuit Fighter ?a7vhwun56u271.jpg

Just replaying Kiwami 2 now....done the karaoke minigame in one sitting in Sotenbori, each one done first time:

  • Euro de x3 Shine - 100 - rank 1
  • X3 Shine - 99.79 -  rank 2
  • TONIGHT - 99.59 - rank 3
  • As Long As You're Happy - 99.36 - rank 5
  • Otometal MY LIFE - 99.35 - rank 6
  • Pride From Despair - 98.82 - rank 9
  • Like A Butterfly - 95.78 - rank 28
  • ring - 95.60 - rank 54

So there we are. Otometal is not even the hardest song in this game. Even with some missed notes, I was still comfortably above 90.

I've done mahjong for people before so if someone is still, for some reason, having difficulty with this let me know and I'll happily do it for you/show you how easy it is
