Popular Post LucianaRosethorn
First of all, thanks to anyone who actually reads this! This is purely for me to remember all the good and bad times I've had with particular games, and so I'll be writing about all the journeys I've made. Some will be longer than others, some will be more meaningful than others but overall they'll all have found memories attached to them. Another thing is that I may write something which I find funny at the time and re-read it and hate myself, I won't change what I put since that's how I felt during that time. I will very more then likely mention @KaiserVendrix a lot and that's because he's my partner in a lot of things I do. My Games (List): This is a list of all my games, once I have 100% or have finished with the game then I'll mark it off. Please keep in mind everyone is different and so if there's something you don't agree on then you don't agree with it, no need to make it a big deal. ~ 1 - Never Touch This Game 2 - Why Did I Play This? 3 - Wouldn't Play Again 4 - Maybe Play Again 5 - Average 6 - It was Decent 7 - I'd Recommend The Game 8 - Would Play Over and Over Again 9 - I love This Game 10 - Perfection My Stories We're finally on to the main event, yay! Well here on out I'll write about my games and update it whenever I finish with the game, I'll have the game title showing and the rest in spoilers so that way you don't have to scroll through all of it but instead just read about the games you want to. There will be spoilers for the games so please don't read about a game if you still need to play it for yourself. Platinum #1 Final Fantasy XIII Spoiler Difficulty: 6 Enjoyment: 10 Would I play again? Yes How Many Times Have I Played the Game? (Beating the Final Boss): Around 13 times (No pun intended) Required Amount Of Playthroughs For The Platinum? 1 Time to beat (main story): Around 30 hours Time to platinum: 3 weeks, 5 days or 76 hours Favourite Trophy: L'Cie Paragon - Earned a 5-star rating for all Cie'th Stone missions. Now hold on a minute, I know this trophy is annoying but that doesn't mean I can't love it! It's a trophy which proves you understand the game completely (along with knowing how to spam poison) and to me that made the game even more fun having a challenge. Least Favourite Trophy: Treasure Hunter - Held every weapon and accessory. This trophy by far is the worst, it requires millions of gil and also RNG in the drop rates of Trapezohedron to upgrade the weapons to the final tier and you need six of them! Hardest Trophy (Also Counting Gridy Trophies) : Adamant Will - Felled a heavyweight of the lowerworld wilds. For this one you need to kill a Long Gui which is an Adamantoise on steroids, even with a maxed out party this thing destroys you. It'll require a lot of patience and a free hour incase it kills you. Why couldn't it just be weak to death?! Easiest Trophy (Not Counting Story Trophies): Loremaster - Discerned the full attributes of 100 enemies. You'll naturally earn this half way through the game and it's a very easy gold. Memories: - Everyone has their own weapons and Snow's is his coat. For the longest time I thought it was a glitch since sometimes he would have a pattern and other times he wouldn't, it wasn't until I told Kaiser that he explained the pattern was his weapon. - In Chapter 5 you fight an enemy called Aster Protoflorian. I was talking to Kaiser and he was on about how it looked like a Bulbasaur, we messed around for an hour and argued about how I thought it didn't look like one. Eventually he told me to type in 'FF13 Bulba' and see what comes up... He was right Good Points: - Unique battle system - It's generally a beautiful game - The music is amazing! - The story itself is great, not perfect but great - Most of the previous Final Fantasy monsters have a new look Bad Points - The story isn't simple and so it can be hard to get into - Can't pick party members until Chapter 10 or so - You have to use Fang, lighting and Vanille for most of the game if you want the platinum Tips: - Don't sell anything - Of course if your struggling then level up some more - The battle system can be confusing so be sure you understand the importance off staggering (Still need to write about the game, sorry for the wait!) Platinum #2 Final Fantasy XIII-2 Spoiler Difficulty: 3 - 4 Enjoyment: 6 Would I play again? Yes How Many Times Have I Played the Game? (Beating the Final Boss): 4 Required Amount Of Playthroughs For The Platinum? 1 Time to beat (main story): 24 hours Time to platinum: 1 week, 4 days or 53 hours Favourite Trophy: Beast Tamer - Befriended a most unfriendly monster. For this trophy you need to capture a Don Tonberry, for those who haven't played the game it's an Albino Tonberry and is actually very cute, just don't annoy it... Least Favourite Trophy: Serendipitous - Amassed a fortune in casino coins. This trophy can stop a lot of people, it's not hard but it's completely RNG. You have to earn 10,000 coins on the slot machine but what you lose is taken away from the total number, so if you have 15,000 to begin with, you need to end up with 25,000 or more. Hardest Trophy (Also Counting Gridy Trophies): Defragmented - Completed every fragment category. Overall there are 160 fragments you need to collect which sounds like a lot but it actually isn't that bad, the reason why it's so bad is that you need to reply areas again, get 100% on all maps and kill at least one of every monster. It takes its toll and can become tedious very quickly. Easiest Trophy (Not Counting Story Trophies): Budding Hunter - Defeated an army's worth of enemies. An army's worth of enemies you say, well how many is that? 1,000? 10,000? Just tell me already! It's 100... Yep! Killing 100 enemies is an army's worth in this game. Memories: - When I was younger I use to think this game was the first game to ever have QTE (Quick Time Events) - After playing FFXIII I said to my brother I can't wait for the next game, he then explained how that's not how Final Fantasy works. And what do you know, I got my Sequel! The same thing happened after this game, I said I can't wait for a third game in which he says they've never done that before, I shouldn't have opened my mouth Good Points: - The game makes use of areas from XIII which weren't used as much such as Oerba - You get to revisit old areas and have some nostalgia - The Albino monsters are generally amazing - Yeul & Caius, I love both of them and wish more people knew/ liked Caius Bad Points: - Minigames! - The game is so much weaker compared to XIII - There is no haste or slow in this game, as in just casting them in battle - The story, whenever time travel is involved it needs to be spot on - Character building, I didn't feel attached to the main characters at all - The soundtrack Crazy Chocobo... Tips: - Don't worry about grinding for levels in the game, most of the time CP from fragments and killing bosses is more than enough - The best Ravager is Cloudburst, best medic is Green Chocobo, best Synergist is Yakshini, best commando is Lighting (DLC) or Golden Chocobo - There's a DLC called Lighting: Requiem of the Goddess for £1.49, I highly recommend this since she's stronger than your main party members - You can't get most fragments until you unlock later abilities for Mog or all the areas so try not to do everything as soon as you get there Story Time: Wooo, the sequel to my favourite game of all time! What could possibly go wrong? First of all, as much as I'll say negative things about this game I do enjoy it to a degree, maybe I'm bias because it's XIII but either way don't take the negativity to heart. One thing to take note of in this game is that the timeline has been changed, so the ending in which you got at the end of FFXIII has now been changed. Everyone believes Lightning is holding up Cocoon along with Fang & Vanille and only Serah remembers the truth. We start out in 3AF meaning it's 3 years after the fall of Cocoon and we will carry on going to the future of areas such as Oerba, Yaschas Massif and Archylte Steppe. Unfortunately even though the game does mention the future and past we never actually get to go to the past which was a shame but it does make sense. At the start you'll get a beautiful intro of Lighting in Valhalla fighting Caius in a war, during it you'll get to see some of the previous Eidolons such as Siva, Odin and Bahamut which was a nice touch. Later on you find out all Eidolons are actually from Valhalla which explains why they're all there. Soon after you'll see Caius turn into Bahamut which amazing. After a few tutorial messages you'll meet your first main character Noel, he's just like Snow from the first game but worse! Your mission is to get to Serah with Mog which turns into a Bowblade (my favourite weapon of them all), you go through a gate and what do you know, Serah is right there. Mission Completed! Huh? Serah wants to find lighting? Fine, onto the next mission, find Lighting! Now that we have the whole party together, yes just the two, we carry on our adventure. There's a brief introduction between the two before we soon see Cocoon vanish from New Bodum. Noel explains how in his future, 700AF there is no Cocoon. Noel is one of three last humans to ever exist at the end of time, I'll give you three chances to guess the other two. Once we get to the area in which Cocoon vanished there's a boss, the design doesn't really fit with the rest of the game but considering it's a paradox I'll allow it. We discover that the meteor that Noel rode to get here was a gate, I mean it was a gate which he jumped into so it makes sense. We learn we need artifacts and fragments to use gates meaning that's the whole premise of the the game and nothing else. The idea is decent itself but sometimes you just want to carry on with the story and not run around trying to find this one item for you to progress. Bresha Ruins 5AF is the next stop and as soon as we get there we are attacked by a giant, it turns out it's a paradox and we need to get rid of it to carry on. During your time here you meet Alyssa, a girl who tries to kill you later on but shhhhh, you aren't meant to know that. You help her out and she tells you how to defeat Atlas the giant, because we aren't very strong we have to weaken the boss first. Much later on when we are strong enough to just outright kill it, that's when we earn the paradox endings. There are a few of them in the game and all of them require you to reply a certain boss and defeat it without weakening them first, most are easy once leveled up but there's one in which you can only use Serah and a monster. Oh boy, Serah can not handle getting hit meaning lots of retrying or just use lighting to attack while you're a sentinel, either way works really. Sunleth Waterscape 300AF we meet Snow from the future, he's took of his bandana! Before we do meet Snow, Serah falls to the ground and has some sort of vision. You don't know what this means at this point but you'll soon find out Etro (the God in this game) has made her a Seeress. This is a gift from the God which means she can now see when the timeline gets changed and sees the new future, this is also a curse since those who do see the new future lose a part of their life every time. Serah decides to hide this from Noel and everyone else due to her probably not wanting to worry everyone but because Noel is a smart cookie, he soon figures it out but doesn't say anything. One key importance that you'll notice when meeting Snow is that he's using magic, if you've played the first game you'll know that only L'cie can use such a thing. The game explains that Snow asked to become a L'cie again so he can help save Cocoon but at the same time there are no more Fal'cie so I guess Etro gave it to him? But what happens when he completes his focus? It's not touched on very much but that raises the question on why Noel & Serah can also use magic, I have looked it up and no one really knows. Obviously it's for gameplay purposes but story wise, it makes no sense! Anyway, next we're going to Yaschas Massif 10AF. In this area we meet up with Hope again and he's all grown up but still has his trusty boomerang. Him and Serah catch up as much as they can before Hope says he needs to show us something, after some slow walking he takes us to an oracle drive, these have the visions in which the Seeress sees. It shows the opening of that game (which gets shown about five times in the game) and Serah questions if it's Lightning. You see, Serah believes Lightning is still alive but everytime we get close to her or anyone mentions her Serah questions it and says how it can't be. The whole point of the game is to find her because Serah knows she's alive but decides to ignore every clue. Honestly not much else happens, you learn about Yuel who is also a Seerees (and the original) but when she dies Caius takes her to Valhalla again and again for her to be reborn. Each only live for a short amount of time but they're all different. Caius just wants Serah & Noel to stop messing with the timeline so she'll stop dying but nope, we have to find Lightning! In the end Caius wins, Serah dies, Lightning is a Crystal and the World dies. But wait, what's that? After all that it says to be continued...For fuck sake... Of course there's other points but I'm not going to write everything, I just wanted to write the jist of it and it was kinda going on so I thought I'd better stop. This is a game in which you either like it or you don't, there's a lot to love and a lot to hate. When I first played the game I loved it because I thought it was meaningful, now that I'm older I want to slap everyone in the game for being so stupid. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my story time and feel free to talk about what you and agree and disagree with. Platinum# 3 Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns Spoiler Difficulty: 5 Enjoyment: 6 Would I play again? Yes How Many Times Have I Played the Game? (Beating the Final Boss): Twice but have done about 10+ playthroughs Required Amount Of Playthroughs For The Platinum? 2 Time to beat (main story): 29 Hours (I think) Time to platinum: 1 week, 3 days or 53 hours Favourite Trophy: Goddess of Death - Proof of defeating 10 Last Ones, exterminating forever 10 different species of monster. Least Favourite Trophy: Unearthly Apothecary - Proof of obtaining an elixir. It's so rare that it seems almost a waste to use it, doesn't it? Hardest Trophy: Monster Bane - Proof of mastering all creation and conquering even the Ultimate Lair. Easiest Trophy (Not Counting Story Trophies): Novice Artist - Proof of customizing the color of one of your garb. Let your true colors shine through. Memories: - Destiny is Destiny - Went into a battle against a Gremlin in which Lighting said, "You disgust me." T_T - The name of the Valhalla Angel is, Sir Wuggets! Good Points: - There's so many costumes in which all have unique lines - When you use Yuna's or Cloud's costume it played the victory music from their game - There's a lot of bonuses if you've played the other games, as in you'll get a kick out of comments and the story more - There's only four areas but there's a lot to do so it works- The Moogle Forest! Bad Points: - The staggering system isn't very clear - Most of the time you're just running around - There isn't much unique music, most is from the previous two games - There really isn't any story and what there is does't really make sense Tips: - Use Chronostasis as much as you can - Don't worry about the time limit, there's more than enough time to do everything - When enemies seem too strong try another build or do a few quests - When you first enter an area explore it first, you can get a lot of quest items and unlock fast travel locations Platinum #4 Mini Ninjas Spoiler Difficulty: Enjoyment: Would I play again? KaiserVendrix
About bloody time you wrote all this down, people need to know the very “special” stories we have! BlackWaltz_86
Very nice read, I do especially love when people appreciate FF XIII, cause it seems that people love to go the other way and shit on it. I agree on so many levels. I've platinumed this game 3 times ( yes 3, I swear this is gonna be my last account ) and I always loved doing so. - Story is great and on your 1st playthrough you're so insanely confused, nothing makes sense and when I played it again, I said to myself on numerous occasions : " oh, this is actually very smart, it'll make sense ( finally )" - Music is just so damn beautiful - People that say the battle system is just pushing x all the time can suck a lemon. That may be true to some extent, but if you're going for that 100% you know that ain't the case I don't care. I have huge love for this game. There are many better FFs than this, or maybe that's just nostalgia talking, but still it's a very solid game and the ending get's me every time Anyway, just wanted to put my five cents, sorry for the intrusion Have a good night
KawaiiSlowpoke
Oh wow this is a great idea! If you dont mind would you care if I did something similar? I thought I had a long list of games but wow you take the cake here haha

Jelloycat
Very cool list! Best of luck with your backlog. (I definitely recommend checking out Digimon Cyber Sleuth, since you already have it on your PS4 list. )
Honor_Hand
Got to admit, I really, really liked the format you used to talk about FF XIII up there. Very personal, interesting, fun to read and straight to the point with all the relevant info anyone may need. You also have a lot of games to play on all consoles, cheers for that. Will be looking to read about your future journeys and experiences here Also, welcome to the Checklist section of the site. I'm your friendly neighbor that also happens to have a checklist that he updates once every blue moon lol Kaiser was right... That thing totally looks like a Mecha-Bulbasaur of sorts o.O
cr1s
Nice format for a checklist! And that's quite the backlog you have there. Mine is pretty much like that as well. Good luck with the both of them! I look forward to reading your thoughts on the games you'll play. Especially Danganronpa.
Kurorac
That backlog looks like mine ? You have a great way to review a game, I really like that format. FFXIII was a great game, but I never got around to plat it even though XIII-2 was my first ever plat. I will keep reading your updates
Uchiha_Snake__
This was a great idea, I have a good time reading your memories, hopefully more people will do similar posts to shere their gaming experiences. About the games; even thought I have the for both Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2 I had to come back for XIII after more than a year due to that Treasure Hunter trophy, it really bothered me back then. Last year I focused on getting the last trophies I was missing and not let the awful grinding take the best of me. The game was absolutely beautiful imo, the graphics were excellent and the music was really good (love that battle theme ), the combat system was interesting and got to test with but the linear story (and game) and the simplicity of the crystarium lvl up system annoyed me. For XIII-2 the story is short, most of the time I didn't even know what's happening with all those time travels and time paradox I got lost a couple of times, but by the time I got the plat I was more aware of the story and ready to jump to Lightning Returns, speaking of wich... Would you be playing it now that you have XIII & XIII-2 s?
Popular Post LucianaRosethorn
I have finally finished writing about my Second Platinum, Final Fantasy XIII-2! Sorry for the wait for XIII which still needs to be done and I'm sorry it's taken a while for me to reply to everyone, I really wanted there to be something for you guy to read before I replied to you. Also I'm sorry this will be a long reply post, I wasn't sure what the best way to reply to everyone was so I quoted everyone in a single reply. I just wish all the fanboys would be a bit more accepting of others opinion and other Final Fantasy's in general. I can't wait to play IX! This would be my second time earning the platinum (I've had 5+ accounts so I know the struggle ) and it did lose some charm but that's just because of the grinding and how I really wanted it to be my first platinum, it's still an incredible game to experience. I'm really happy you also enjoyed the game just as much as me it sounds, what would you say is your favourite Final Fantasy? =) I'm really happy you commented and as I said it's lovely to see someone else appreciate the game, I hope you have a lovely day. =) On 1/17/2019 at 10:52 PM, KawaiiSlowpoke said: Oh wow this is a great idea! FFXIII was a great game, but I never got around to plat it even though XIII-2 was my first ever plat. I will keep reading your updates Welcome to the backlog club! Thank you, I'm glad you like the format. The platinum for FFXIII can be tedious so I find it's best to stick to it otherwise you won't do it, that treasure trophy is a nightmare. Oh really? You're the first I've seen to ever have that as your first platinum, have you played Lighting Returns? Thank you for reading what I have to say. Quite a few people do checklists but not many actually talk about the game but instead just post images of what they've platinumed. I wanted to make mine more personal. Great job on those platinums! Yeah that trophy is a real pain honestly, I stuck to the game purely so I wouldn't stop. A lot of tortoise died because I needed money and a lot of tortoise killed me. The game is generally a very stunning piece, to this day I think it's one of the best looking ones out there. I agree with the linear part but at the same time it felt like it fitted the game, at the start at least. I definitely agree with the crystarium, you can't make someone learn abilities which someone else hasn't already and everyone has a set role in which they're best at. On the plus side it's also a very pretty thing to look at and the noise it does when you level up several times is great. Yep! I've already start Lighting Returns and currently have Fang's main mission to do and I'm on day 4 I believe. I've played the game a lot in the past but never beat the boss so it's a thing I really want to do, I also might save the third platinum for it just so the series can be next to each other. What did you think of the game yourself? Also, isn't the Moogle Forest just the best thing ever!?

If I did play one to try out the series what would you recommend? It's depend, if you want an experience of how Atelier actually is you should play Arland serie. I always recommend if is your first time with Atelier and want play Arland go for the vanila version on PS3 and after if you want more try the plus version either on vita or now on PS4. In other hand if you just want enjoy the game and don't want think too much in the time limited or follow walkthrought, etc., try with either Dusk serie (Ayesha plus is a different game and a bit hard than vanila version, but Escha and Shallie are exactly the same game on vita and PS3) or Mystery serie with Sophie, Firis and Lydie and Suelle. Don't worry about the amount of Atelier's game you can play nowadays, you don't need to play all of them like I do (at least you learn to love Atelier like I do ?). This year we will play a new spin-off: Atelier Nelke-chan, the game looks very interesting since you can find a lot of protagonists of old games (since Marie-sama the first atelier until Lydie-chan and Suelle-chan)

I do like Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII mostly because I like Lightning but also the battle system, I found it refreshing and very enjoyable, it demands you to be patient and aware of the foes, watch their moves to know where to strike or take cover for example. The story althought it was confusing at first, allows you to see different sides from Lightnings personality, I also like the "count-down to the en of the world" mechanic and how some missions can only be done during specific hours and what I probably liek the most was the fact that you can kill a whole species of foes, the developers really stick to the idea that the world was coming to an end. So yeah, very fun to play imo and the main focus of the story was kept along the whole game in both cinematics and the gameplay

I definitely need to play it again along with the other games. The only problem is that when I do play it, I feel like watching the Anime all over again. I really need to re watch the anime some time as well. It's just so long that it's difficult to find time in-between other shows and games. I don't think I'll be going for the plat as I don't have that much time anymore to go for every plat ? Well FFXIII-2 has a really easy plat and it was one of the first games I had. I played Lightning Returns and liked it. Especially the mechanic were you come back even stronger when the world is destroyed. This was an answer to someone else but FFVII is my least favourite FF game, too. And if you want to start the Atelier series (my favourite game series btw) I can confirm what @AlchemistWer wrote. As long as you start with the first game of a trilogy there is no problem. Edited January 23, 2019 by Kurorac

I'm really happy you also enjoyed the game just as much as me it sounds, what would you say is your favourite Final Fantasy? =) My favourite game in FF series ( and as it happens, my favourite game of all time ) would have to be FF IX. Game that made a huge impact on a 12, maybe 13- year old kid and game that really got me into JRpgs. Just a plain masterpiece in my opinion. On the side note I also think that FFVII is overated. I would say that for many people the "nostalgia factor" is overtaking our objective opinions about some games, but again, it might be the same for me regarding FFIX Have a lovely day.
