Popular Post BlindMango
- THE RESULTS - Welcome to the 5th edition of PSNProfile's Guide of the Year Awards! That's right, the guide system has now been on the site for half a decade now, feeling old yet? Every year we hold this event to tell writers that what they do is simply incredible, and this year is definitely no exception. To celebrate our 5 year anniversary, we've added several awesome categories to shake things up, and also give a lot more guide writers well-deserved recognition as well. Because of this as you could probably tell ... It took us a little longer than usual to figure out all the winners. 21 more entries for winning guides than past years was certainly no easy task! So are you ready? Here we go! Guide of the Year Winners To start off as we have from the beginning, the first awards we'll give are for the top three guides this year from all of your nominations for this category. There were some really incredible guides this year, and these are three that we felt mastered many different aspects of guide writing in impressive ways. Here are the winners! 1st Place Monster Hunter World Trophy Guide By ManaFear, GoldenDevilGamer, omegarevan, and Undead_Wolf_N7 2nd Place Final Fantasy IX Trophy Guide By ARB1992 3rd Place Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom Trophy Guide By eigen-space, GoldenDevilGamer and ManaFear To start off, the Monster Hunter World guide was one of impressive teamwork, and it masters details, formatting, and its overall layout to prove to be a really helpful resource for those working towards the platinum trophy, and the teams ability to keep up with updates for an ever evolving game as also been great to see as well. Second place is quite a fantastic solo guide by ARB. It uses visuals, tables, maps, videos, and mind blowing details to guide the reader through a wonderfully classic game and it's quite a guide to scroll through and look at. The Ni no Kuni II guide was another great effort at teamwork where the writers put their heads together and made a wonderfully concise and detailed guide for a game such as that. Also look at those tables! You all did amazingly, congratulations! The Exceptional Guide Winners And now for the exciting addition to the Guide of the Year Awards 5 year anniversary - the exceptional categories! Based off the guides you all nominated, we put our heads together and bickered for quite some time about choosing 3 for each out of what was honestly so many great nominations. All of the winners will get an Exceptionally High Quality badge on their guide recognizing their efforts, along with sweet cash prizes of $50 for 1st place, $40 for 2nd place, and $30 for third place in each category! We hope you like them as much as we did. Exceptional Walkthrough Guide Three impressive picks from a category that's been absolutely blowing us away this past year quality-wise. - 英雄伝説 閃の軌跡III - Overall Walkthrough by hasegawa2010 - Claire - Full Trophy Walkthrough by optimusmart/Optinooby - Final Fantasy IX - Missable Trophies/Collectables Guide by JNSpradlin Exceptional Gameplay Guide These are guides we've felt really shine with their organization, details, and ability to guide you through. - Tearaway Unfolded - Completist Trophy Guide by TugaSonic - Red Dead Redemption 2 - Gold Medals, Challenges, and 100% Guide by NCSFan001 & NL_Sion - Fist of the North Star - Lost Paradise Substory Guide by omegarevan Exceptional DLC Guide There three are some of the most detailed and intricate DLC guides from the past year, this category had a ton of competition. - Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - Uncharted 4: Survival DLC Trophy Guide by djippps - Grand Theft Auto V - Grand Theft Auto Online: The Doomsday Heist DLC Trophy Guide by Jiwan01 - Prey - Mooncrash DLC Trophy Guide by BlackTorito NIche Game Guide Some of our favorite picks for guides for indie games, imported games (JP, KR, etc), and non-AAA games. - 英雄伝説 閃の軌跡III Trophy Guide by hasegawa2010 - Kona Trophy Guide by RizzleAbbey12 & AshestoAshes28 - Cosmic Star Heroine Trophy Guide by Scarburn Exceptional Use of Formatting Fantastic examples of writers that noticeably master the art of guide resources like tables, headings, colours, spacing, & images. - Shadow of the Colossus - Time Trials & Items Guide by Phoenixgaming1 - Valkyria Chronicles 4 Trophy Guide by cckerberos - God of War Trophy Guide by ManaFear, aZombieDictator, & PixelatedPortal Exceptional Quality Upkeep Great examples of writers that stuck around and listened to what readers had to say and continuously improved their guides. - Shenmue Trophy Guide by StacFace92 - Girls und Panzer: Dream Tank Match Trophy Guide by hasegawa2010 - Ark: Survival Evolved Trophy Guide by The__High_Ground Exceptional Original Content Incredible picks of writers that went the extra mile and make their own videos, images, and combination of these within their guide. - Shadow of the Tomb Raider - Trophy Walkthrough by optimusmart/Optinooby - Stardew Valley Trophy Guide by Jelloycat & FrostIsFurious - Alien Isolation - Trophy Walkthrough by optimusmart/Optinooby Those guides were absolutely incredible. Each year we always say that even though you may not have been a winner this year, there's always next year and the very fact your guide was published means it reached a great quality standard to get there. It was really though going through the nominations as well, because they were all so good! What's really cool this year though, is so many more people were able to get recognized for their work. As always, the last thing we do is share guide system milestones to show how much the guide system grows each year: Last time around we had 2 guides that reached 100,000 views, now we're proud to say we have 9 guides with over 100,000 views! Assassin's Creed Origins and Until Dawn guides are just a few thousand views away from that milestone too! Last year at this time 382 guides had over 10,000 views, now it's 531 guides with over 10,000 views! Last year 88 guides had 20,000 views and 35 had over 30,000 views. This year there's 233 guides with over 20,000 views and 124 guides with over 30,000 views! Last year at this time 6 guides had over 50,000 views and 4 guides have more than 75,000. Today there are a whopping 49 guides with over 50,000 views and 15 guides with over 75,000 views! 2,084 guides have now been written on the site... That's mind blowing! So many guide winners! So many cash prizes! Will Sly's wallet ever recover from this intense 5th season?? We regret nothing! We our guide writers

Popular Post Stardroid
I am very happy ARB1992 won a prize. Honestly and truthfully, I've written guides myself, and I wanted to write one for FFIX but the task alone of organising it and then turning it into a cohesive whole was one I didn't wasn't sure I could pull off. So, again, congratulations with that guide, regardless of me not agreeing with the script method, it is an incredible guide, especially for having written it all by yourself. First place would have been true justice imo! Edited February 7, 2019 by STARLOVE

Bairuto
I think Monster Hunter World is too massive and daunting for a newbie like myself, but that guide has almost convinced me to have a try, amazing effort on the guide the information and detail is incredible!

I believe Shenmue's guide won because people commented on his guide and he was adding the info to his guide, however, if the guide were more complete from the start, like the second place's guide, it would be less prone to receive such suggestions. Way I see it, the more incomplete the guide, more likely it is to receive suggestions. The road-map just redirects to trophies descriptions instead of having the descriptions written on each step (to keep you from opening multiple tabs). Demon Souls' guide is a great example of guide which I never had to scroll down to see trophy descriptions.
GT__Jedi
Congrats to the winners! Looking over the list I've already added a few to follow later this year. And, congrats to everyone who takes the time to put together a guide. Thank you!

Popular Post Dragon-Archon
Congrats to the winners . It was a hard decision and going through ~76 guides was a lot of work. In fact I've seen enough guides for at least a week or two, so it's time for a break *uses this as an excuse to play KH3* . Popular Post Walt the Dog
Congrats to the winners! I'm admittedly a little bummed that I didn't place for my DLC guide, but then I was hardly even expecting nominations to begin with given how simple the guide was along with the fact that I've never even got nominations before to my knowledge, so I can't be too down about it. Besides, now I can finally post this meme I made ages ago.

Just glancing at them- even a month after submitting their guide, Shenmue's author responded to messages within 24 hours, sometimes within 12. All the other points you bring up about the road-map wasn't relevant to this specific category at all.
Zach
Congrats everyone! I've only used the Monster Hunter trophy guide so far. I can't wait to use the others! I'm sure every guide that won here is exceptional though. I love every trophy guide addition to this site.

BlackTorito
Congratulations to everyone, those are really great and hard-worked guides. Exceptional walkthrough guides are of an amazing quality that may had been unnoticed without this new season categories. Also, i’m glad I actually got to sent my guide within time, and i’m looking forward to team up this year (maybe when I have some time without college) to write great guides as these ones.

Happy
Great job to everyone, didn’t win anything this year but maybe i’ll cook something up for next time. To the guide team: Has there been any conclusions on the new category system? Any possible tweaks and changes you might implement for the next awards such as adding/removing/rephrasing categories?
