DecSim01
I recently just got done with two "easy" platinum's (one took literally seconds and the other took around an hour) and I was wondering what other people thought of "easy" plats? Do you think its cheating or do you think they're good for building up your trophy list. Interested to hear what other people think.
Popular Post sepheroithisgod
Definitely not cheating, but I've never seen the appeal of super short games like that. I like to spend money on games I think I'll enjoy.
Popular Post JohnCenaSong-
I don't do it because I get no enjoyment from those frankly crappy little games and I feel no need to inflate my trophy count for the epeen. That being said, I couldn't care less if other people do it, it's their time/money and if they feel like they're getting something out of it, good for them, everyone should have the freedom to enjoy what they like so long as they aren't effecting somebody else in the process.

Popular Post Bullstomp
I hate 'em. The number of platinums a person has used to be impressive. Now its easy as fuck to get to 100 plats without playing anything of substance. It's like "participation awards" have come to PSN. Popular Post Charizarzar
People can play what they like but I personally don’t think much of those games. I like to look at other people’s profiles for various reasons (usually to see if there’s anything I might be into) and I tend to just gloss over those ones. That’s assuming you just mean the < 30 minute type games. I’ve played Telltale stuff, easy plus games like Burly Men and more recently Goosebumps just so I could get to the next milestone a bit faster. So I can understand the appeal but wouldn’t want to spend money on anything I couldn’t at least spend a decent amount of time on or that doesn’t have a story attached to it.
Popular Post Cobby
Well I've spent 12 hours dealing with arsey people for 10 hours of that at work today, I'll spend my energy opening these beers and consuming 'em, instead of worrying about what games you've decided to plat ?
Popular Post snakebit10
It is up to the individual what they want to play and enjoy. I have played some of them myself but I got no real enjoyment from some of them and in turn I have decided I am going to concentrate more on games that take some time to play and so far I am enjoying myself even more.

It's fine if it's some kind of short visual novel about lesbian anime girls. I would hide easy plat otherwise. People who don't care about your profile won't be swayed with your plats anyway. People who do care will visit the profile and think "Oh, it's one of those". So, I don't think inflating profile with garbage is a good idea.
Popular Post DizzyDavidson
As long as you’re having fun it doesn’t matter if the plat is easy/hard/long or short. That’s my stand on it.

Ive got 78 plats and most of them are tripple a games that take between 20-40 hours to plat. 90 percent of them games ive really enjoyed playing and i like looking back on my list now and again to reminise of some brilliant games ive finished over the years
Lordguwa
it's to build trophy lists. it's the same reason why i like to tackle grindy games. i like some challenge (not with difficulty but with time taken) as some would say endurance games.
Sofa King
I've played some of them, I don't go out of my way to play them. Usually it's when the PSN wallet is low and I see one on the cheap. It does kinda devalue the whole point of plats when you can stack a dozen regions on multiple systems and have a mess of them from these type of games in a hour or two, but it's whatever.
StiffTripple_X
Trophy building did a few myself when Sony rewards was still bumpin but now that they stopped the trophy reward program I will never get one of those games again
Popular Post Viper
I don't mind them...I have quite a few on my list. Every now and then, I just want to earn some trophies without much hassle..I usually play these kinds of games, when I'm in the mood to game, but not in the mood to play anything I've started, usually they're just time killers that give me a Plat in the end...then I'm right back to a normal game. Now, I'm not someone that likes super hard games. Where most people get a sense of accomplishment for completing something really hard...I just have the "thank fuck, that's over with" mentality. I don't get enjoyment out of being pissed off at a game the whole time I'm playing it. That's why I tend to stick to your average, boiler plate AAA difficulty. Where I have to put the work in to get the Plat, but I'm not tearing my hair out getting there.
Popular Post TheYuriG
I don't play them and I don't care what people think about my trophies. I play for myself. Your opinion, good or bad, won't change my gaming routine. I think likewise about other people's profiles and I rarely ever check them, unless it comes up as a subject of an incomplete game and I look up that specific game to find out what there is left. I guess people are just too used to doing things for the looks, fame and glory, that they forget there is more to it than a number, a ranking and a position. It's all about the enjoyment for me. The destination is irrelevant if the journey was horrible, as much as the platinum is meaningless if the experience was trash. Number of platinums is just a number. Completion percentage is just a number. Unearned trophies is just a number. If there were no ranking websites, no places like PSNP, PSNTL, TT, Exophase, would people still play all the games they do? I know I would.
kingofbattle8174
It can be a filler to be used between longer games to keep from getting burned out. Some can be fun. It doesnt matter to me if you play them or not. It is all what you want to play.

Overall though, I don't mind easy games that actually have some substance (things like Cat Quest, Reverie, TellTale games etc.) but some of these short 30 minute plats are not what I want to spend my time and money on anymore. I recently played Super Destronaut as I got it for free in a competition - lets just say I wouldn't have paid money for it and it only served to help me realize it's not what I personally want from gaming anymore. If someone else wants to play them though, more power to them. I don't tend to judge others profiles anyway.
Popular Post GothGirlMaxine
I will admit, most of the games I buy are easy platinums or whatever, but that's because I enjoy indie titles more than anything. Plus I make guides, so I tend to buy the games (or get given them by developers or publishers) so people such as myself only encourage people to play whatever they like but the term "trophy hunter" means you hunt trophies. Whether they're easy or not, they're trophies. Plus some easy platinums can be quite enjoyable experiences. For example, The Little Acre, a charming little game, with Disney style graphics and a truly lovable story. Life Is Strange, easy platinum yes, but also a very raw and emotional story based episodic game. On the other hand we have the s**t games like Little Adventure On The Prairie or the old cliche My Name Is Mayo. (Yeah I somewhat enjoyed My Name Is Mayo, but whatever) Regardless, I play what I enjoy, and what people play is none of my business really, but I do like to sometimes compete for fastest completion times as well. (Just for fun) Despite all of this, trophy hunting should be fun so I try mix it up with some harder platinums when I have time. Popular Post SirPigFace
I think most of the people who complain about this sort of stuff just like their own egos stroked because they complete "harder games". Just do what you want to do and dont worry about if you are playing "easy" games. That is the beauty of gaming, one persons trash is another persons treasure.

Some other easy ones I didn't mind was Knee Deep, Headlander (very fun) and Timothy vs. the Aliens. These 20 to 30 minutes plats I really don't want to fill up my trophy list with. Don't get me started on region stacks of these easy plats.
Deceptrox
As long as they are at least entertaining and/or I have to do actions (aside from simply walking [at least make me explore the level]) when playing those games, I'm ok with easy platinum/100%s. They serve as breaks from actual challenging games, which can be fairly or really challenging, to me.

Popular Post Dauersack
I have nothing against easy plats, sure they do not have the bragging rights harder or really hard plats have, but most trophy hunters have a few of each plats anyway. I don't like how some people here seem to put easy games in the same category with trophy whore games. I personally think there are 5 kinds of trophies. Insanely hard. The 10/10 difficulty trophies. Games that you need to be born for, or you have to invest tons of hours to even have the slightest chance. These are the Super Meat Boys, the Necrodancers or games with insane stipulations like the Mein Leben in Wolfenstein. Hard. Games that are really challenging and need a lot of dedication and practice, but any normal human being can achieve them. Games like Furi come to mind, usually 7-9 difficulty. Normal. Difficulty 4-6, the bread and butter of a trophy hunter. Most popular games fall in this category, some are a bit more challenging, some less. Easy. Diffculty 1-3, those are not hard by any means, anyone can complete them sooner or later. The games are solid here though, even the short ones. Trophy whore. Now these are the ones some of you mistake for easy trophies. These are trophies in crappy "games", games like My Name Is Mayo that anyone can see at first glance were only made with the sole purpose of selling a crappy plat to people. I kinda look down on these, but not if they only make up a small fraction in someones profil. There are various reasons someone could have ended up playing a few of these. Whether I consider a profile impressive, decent or bad depends on how many of each trophies it contains. If you do not want to look into an account too deeply, then the average rarity in stats gives you a rough picture. My experience has told me that anyone who is above 50% rarity usually has his profile stuffed out with trophy whore games quite a bit, but still has many impressive games or decent games. Anyone over 60% I see usually is a full blooded trophy whore though, with a profile chock full of 2 hours or less plats and rather few normal games in comparison. No one should have any trouble staying between 40% and 50%. I am very impressed with anyone approaching 100 platinums who still is below 40%. I am currently below 40%, but I am nowhere near 100 platinums and won't be for a long time, especially not with the completionist ambition slowing be down even further.
